Welcome to the White Tower...

A shining ivory spire reaching into the clear blue sky. Underneath the towering work of art from an Age past sprawls beautiful Ogier-sung gardens, a testament to the glory of the Tower and of the city Tar Valon itself. It seems to transcend time, a place which still strikes world travellers with awe and intimidates even kings and queens.

And yet you have come from all over the continent to call this place home.

If you are a female, you have come to learn the art of wielding the One Power. Perhaps you are a "wilder", where the spark manifests itself and you teach yourself to manage it. Or maybe you just have the desire to learn to weave the five flows of the One Power, Earth, Fire, Water, Air and Spirit. Whatever the reason, you said goodbye to your family and old life, perhaps for the last time, and made the journey to this city of legends in the hopes of one day becoming an Aes Sedai.

If you are a male, you have come for a special calling. Some men who learn the sword become soldiers, others become guards or knights protecting Queens and Kings, Lords and Ladies. You have come to learn to be the best of the best, to have your soul bonded to an Aes Sedai through the One Power, to become her Warder and protect her with your very life. In return your awareness and reflexes will become greatly enhanced, but first you must learn the forms of the Sword and earn the right on your own. Only then are you elegible to be chosen.

Whatever the reason, here you are, the gleaming pure white doors of the White Tower before you. Once you step through them, your fate will always be tied to the Tower. Already you can feel its pull, as if tugging on your soul, telling you wordlessly your destiny lies within.

Will you heed its call?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ok, this RPG will start out as somewhat of a school rpg, but there is something else going on within the White Tower that isnt quite right, and not too far into the rpg you will get your first mission. But first, a bit more elaboration on the setting and stuff ^-^ Some things are deliberately left vague, your character most likely will not know much about the inner workings of the Tower and of the One Power, and so you will get the information as the RPG goes on and as your character learns it in the class.
The White Tower is the training school and home for women who can wield the female half of the One Power, called saidar. This power can be used to heal, create, protect, eavesdrop, destroy, and more. Most of the time only two or three of the Five Flows are used, but some more complex weaves may use all five. Those who wield the One Power can see the flows they weave and the ones that others weave. But, only women may wield saidar.
The Ranks of Aes Sedai go as follows, you start out as a Novice, where you have little freedom and study hard, often doing chores in your spare time. Life is strict, but many still find time to sneak away and pull pranks, however the cost of getting caught means you get sent to the Mistriss of Novices for a sound strapping. After passing a mysterious test you gain the rank of Accepted, where you are a bit more free, having far less chores, able to teach small groups of Novices and study on your own. This usually causes you to gravitate towards a certain Ajah, which you will choose upon passing your final test to become a full Sister of the Aes Sedai.
~Ajahs~
You wont have one when you first start out but your character may have an idea of which you will eventually choose. There are seven Ajahs, divided by color:
Blue- Passionate, they get caught up in a cause and use their power to pursue it. They want to make the world a better place.
White- Logical, ignoring the world around them and focusing on matters of philosophy and truth.
Brown- Thoughtful, Obsessed with knowledge, they spend their time studying, in old libraries or historic locations.
Gray- Diplomatic, seeking harmony they often help to settle disputes between countries.
Yellow- Merciful, talented in the healing weaves and devote their time towards healing.
Red- Vengeful, the male half of the One Power is tainted, and any men caught channeling it must be "gentled", cut off from the power. The Red hunt them down and do this to protect the world from their destruction, as they always go mad if left unchecked.
Green- Decisive, also called the Battle Ajah, they almost always have more than one Warder and often marry one of them.
Country List (http://www.pokemasters.net/forums/showpost.php?p=446375&postcount=5)
More will be revealed later.
As for the men, a potential Warder could come from almost any background. Anyone who can wield a sword or has the potential to learn can train in the White Tower, after passing a test, which is usually a duel with a seasoned Warder. Even if they lose that doesnt remove their chance, if they have the approval of the Warder in question they will be allowed to learn. Use your imagination, you could have been the Royal guard of a queen or a farm boy who was taught the sword by a mercenary uncle, your only limited by your imagination.
Now, for the form!
Name: Odd names are best, but if you must have a normal name, give it an unusual spelling.
Age: girls are 16-22, men can be of any age.
Gender: Male or Female?
Rank: Novice or Accepted, men are Apprentice Warders only
Appearance: based on the appearance I will pick a country for you to have come from and give you info on it. If you want the info beforehand to pick one yourself, PM me or request it here ^-^
Personality: same as appearance <3
History: Once you have your country you can elaborate on this. But for now you can add why youve come to the tower, what brought you here? Your desire to weave, for what reason? Or as a male, why do you want to devote your life to protecting an Aes Sedai?
Potential Ajah: you wont have one when you start, but you may know which youd like to choose later. Girls only.
Relationships: You may know some people already, any pre existing relationships put here ^-^
Other: Anything else? Little quirks, phobias etc.
I will post my character sometime tomorrow as its getting late. Any questions feel free to ask!
This is beyond awesome for a RPG. I would definitly like to request more info on the countries when you have the time. ^.^
Here's a huge question for you. When does this take place? That could have a dramatic effect on a great many things. Some kingdoms that are gone might still be around. The balance of power between kingdoms might be different. Certain things presently thought rare might be more common. Would help me greatly in deciding my characters origins.
Name: Vitch Nyora
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Rank: Apprentice Warder
Appearance: Vitch is a rather gangley person, standing at 5’8’’ with a very thin build and an almost sickly pale complexion. He has long, stringy dirty blonde hair which falls unevenly over his thin face (with some slightly sunken features), and his eyes are a lacklustre blue. He wears a sleeveless tan tunic, matching pants (held up by a thick belt) and brown boots which are able to hide his dangerously thin frame quite easily.
Personality: Vitch isn’t the most social guy. For the most part he’s down right shy, keeping to himself and sometimes stuttering when he speaks. He has some self esteem issues, and is often a pushover, mainly doing what others tell him to do. He can often be found alone, in a nice quiet spot, either thinking or muttering sarcastic insults about people he doesn’t like. Although he’ll only do the latter when he believes he’s alone.
History: Vitch was born in the mining town of Baerlon. However, he was born with a physically frail body and as a result was unable to find work in the mines or pretty much anywhere else. This lack of usefulness resulted in his low self esteem and inverted personality, making him a further outcast amongst his peers. His mother, worried about her son, decided to try another method to bring up his strength and confidence. Send him to the White Tower to train as a Warder. Vitch, of course, was sceptical about the whole thing, but being as spineless as he is, he couldn’t say no to her and went along with it. And here he is.
Potential Ajah: n/a
Relationships: none
Other: He doesn’t like sudden flashes of light. Not sure why, but he just doesn’t like them.
Yay! Posts!!! Glad to see you guys are interested ^-^
Nayia: Ok ^-^ Im glad you like the idea too! I cant take credit for the ideas within, just the idea for the rpg itself though. Its actually based off a book series I like but I didnt want to say that because people get intimidated when they really shouldnt ;D Ill go ahead and make a post with the basic info on the countries, and once you pick one you can look up more info if you want, but its totally optional. The RPG will take place inside the White Tower so you really only need to know the basic info to describe your past.
JT: Its alternate dimension, but all the countries and stuff are as they were at the start of the series. The Leaders of the White Tower are also different but that all will be revealed once it starts in the opening post ^-^
Ben: Approved! Very nice <3
Ok, heres a basic list of some countries you can choose for your character. Im keeping it simple but if you want more info just let me know!
Altara- Capital city is Ebou Dar. A dangerous place, its also known for many wild festivals at multiple times of the year. The people will duel each other if they so much as even look at each other wrong sometimes, and many duels are fatal. Women are in charge in this place, everyone wears a knife at their belt and the married women wear a marriage knife around their neck, given to them by their husbands to use upon them if the men ever displease them. Many have olive skin and dark shades of hair, blue and brown being common eye colors.
Andor- One of the oldest kingdoms, think England in the middle ages with Camelot and such. The capital is Caemlyn, and the people are generally loyal and brave. Many have blond hair and blue eyes though it varies by location, brown hair and eyes are also common.
Arad Doman- The Domani are famous for their merchant culture, and their women are famous for their seductive ways. Its the style for them to wear almost see through dresses that are nearly skintight, and its said mothers train their daughters from a young age at how to be graceful and the art of seduction. Most of the merchants are women who no doubt use these 'skills' to their advantage. They have coppery skin and black or brown hair, hazel and green eyes being common.
Cairhien- Cairhienin are one of the most reserved of all the types of people. They pride themselves in order and organisation, and their politics system is called The Game of Houses, based on subtlety and plotting and hidden meanings. They are quite short, with dark hair and eyes and pale skin. Their style of dress is conservative as well, dark clothes which dont reveal much skin, the opposite of the Domani.
Illian- Illianers appearance and culture doesnt stand out much, save for their accent. "He does not understand" becomes "He do no understand" in the way they talk. Appearance wise they can have any skintone or coloring.
Tear- Tairens mostly have dark hair and eyes, but their skin color can vary from pale to very dark. Its a port city and so one of the main trades are fishing, and many of the common people go about barefoot due to the muddy streets in many places. Tairens also hate Illianers and the feeling is mutual, this goes back hundreds of years. The nobility is reminescent of the Spanish Empire.
Saldea- One of the Borderlands, countries that border the Blight where the Dark One's touch is said to be strongest. Its a warrior nation, men and women both are trained for combat and women often follow their husbands into battle. They have prominent noses and tilted, almond shaped eyes. Horses are inportant to them, and take pride in well breeding. They also have very hot tempers.
Shienar- Shienaran are also warriors, being also one of the Borderlands and perhaps the closest to the Blight, however they are very polite, this being a big part of their culture. They cherish peace, beauty, and life; "peace, because they have never known it; beauty, because they are so near the corruption of the Blight; and life, because they are sworn to death." They take things like nudity lightly, men and women often bathe together publically. They care more about living well than gaining wealth.
Tuatha'an- Also called the Tinkers or Travelling Folk, they are like gypsies which travel in colorful wagons from place to place, seeking "The Song". They are very peaceful and will not raise even a fist to defend themselves, they will talk, flee or hide to escape being killed but will never fight back. They wont even touch a weapon of war, and are vegetarians. They spend their time repairing things for people, travelling, and celebrating life every night with song and dance.
Atha'an Miere- Also called the Sea Folk, they are mysterious and not much is known about them. They have dark skin and hair, with strange tattoos on their arms and wear light, colorful clothing. Channelers among these people become Windfinders, using the One Power to find the best routes for their ships. They are notorious bargainers, and many look upon land folk with disdain. Only one of these will be allowed.
These are the main countries, but you may also make up your own village within one of these countries, with your own customs and such if you wish. I love creative people ^-^ Ill get to work on my sign up now <3
Also, Sie has reserved a Wilder spot, so besides my char the wilder spots are filled!
So, to clarify, Malkier still fell to the blight a full generation ago (I think it was about 45 years or something)?
haha, yes I can understand how people can get intimidated with such things; but really, we're hagging out in a tower, so it shouldn't be a big deal if it's from a book series. just from what you posted, I was about to look up the series and be comfortable with it within an hour. lol, it's not like I have to read the series to play this RPG. ^.^
Name: Esyllt Teardhrin
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Rank: Accepted
Appearance: Esyllt is fair skinned, standing at 5'6" and as curvy as she is trim. Her hair is long and wavy, stopping just at her waist and is a lustious dark chocolate in color with long side bangs. She perfers to wear her hair down, but has known to bind it during tasks were her hair may be more of a annoyance to the job at hand. Her eyes are a lovely sapphire color that stands out from her ivory complexion. First impressions are never good because how intense her eyes are, causing most people to see her as a unapproachable beauty until she smiles and her true personality shines through.
Being from a noble family, she's use to wearing gowns. In the White Tower, she continues to do so, usually being seen in a-line, flowing silk gown with very low neckline, long sleeves and fitted from the hips up. This style of dress she learn back home is good for swordplay, being both easy to move in and likely to distract most male opponents. Her favorite is a dark forest green with gold trimmings and lace.
Personality: Esyllt is the type of girl who seems to have a carefree nature and comes off as nonchalant. She has a mind that tends to be optimistic, but is always analyzing the world around her to know when to be realiztic. This gives her a natural curiousity, but she knows better then to let it get the best of her, knowing when bravary was stepping the line to stupidity. She's also known to be as patince as she is loyal.
History: Esyllt is from one of the noble houses in Carmlyn, Andor. Her family has always been a strong supporter of the military, training the women in the art of swordplay as much as the men in the family. It has been several generations since a woman of Teardhrin blood has been born with channeling abilities high enough to become Aes Sedai and apon learning that Eysllt had such power, her parents Derverius and Maiyel encouraged her to go to the White Tower for training at the age of seventeen. The Teardhrin family believe such training is an honour, which made it so Eysllt was more then excited to go, even if she was sad to leave her family. Her older brother, Cael was tempted to go with her to become her future Warder, but his duties for his family kept him home.
Potential Ajah: Blue or Green
Relationships: None as of yet since sign ups are still new. Eysllt has been in the White Tower for two years now, so she probably knows some fellow weavers. Just give the word ^.^
Other: She has a phobia of bats. She sees them as flying rats and strongly believes rodents shouldn't fly. Has a habit of humming when she's bored or working on chores, and tends to touch her fingers to her lips when embarrassed or stressed, and cover her mouth when she laughs or giggles.
Hopefully that's good. Had fun finding a creative name for this RP. ^.^
Crystal Tears
22nd March 2010, 10:18 PM
Name: Na’Wynth de Luun (Wynth to friends)
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Rank: Accepted
Appearance: Standing at a proud 5’10’’, Wynth is quite easily one of the taller women at the White Tower. Her hair is black, with bangs cut to frame her face and rest is layered. The longest strands come down to just below her shoulders, but not any farther. It has a sort of tousled look that many find attractive. Some of the longer strands are tightly braided with bright, colour beads weaved in. Her earrings are creature’s fangs and smaller strands of beads on silver and gold hooks. Her eyes are an entrapping grey-emerald coloration, often lined with dark eyeliner of sorts. For clothing she appears to wear a combination of styles (barbarian (furs), gypsy and belly-dancer). Wynth effectively wears three skirts, the longest is the first layer of the bunch, it’s black, and is longer on the right side then the left (the longest tip coming down to just above the knee). It’s unevenly cut and sort of curls at the edges. The second layer is a dark blue with a faded aqua stripe. It’s more of a piece of cloth she tied around her hips; the knot is on the left side. The final skirt is a short one with silver coin-like ornaments hanging loosely from it. So when she walks she effectively jingles, though can be oddly quiet when she wants to be. Her top is a simple piece of black cloth (feels somewhat like silk), that’s been formed into a halter-top by criss-crossing the material across her chest. She wears a multitude of rings, some simple bands of silver or gold, while others have precious stones in them. She has a few bracelets made out of leather, yet no necklaces. Wynth doesn’t wear footwear; she’s become used to bare feet and feeling the elements under them. Putting boots or shoes on would seem very strange and uncomfortable for her. Apparently, so would wearing modest clothing, she shows a lot of skin. She doesn’t seem shy about it at all, the few scars she has she bares proudly. On her right hand is a small, tattoo that resembles Egyptian styling (it’s on the back of her hand, and is simple lines flowing from her thumb to the tip of her index finger). Oh and she’s slightly tanned.
Personality: Wynth isn’t shy; she also doesn’t sugar-coat anything. She will, and without a second thought, tell it how it is. She’s very smart, though she may not know everything, once she learns something new, she rarely, if ever, forgets it. She’s cursed with a photographic memory, something that even annoys her at times. She can come off over-confident and cocky, but she believes her skills back her up. Free-spirited, hates restrictions and limitations, only because Wynth has long lived without them. She had a particular dislike for men, acting colder and much more sarcastic towards them then she would a woman. She is fiercely protective of her things and privacy, odd for a woman who is so out-going to be secretive, but she just is. However, she immediately respects anyone who can dance well. Wynth is a phenomenal dancer; she appreciates the expression and emotions the art displays.
History: Na’Wynth de Luun used to be Na’Wynth de Sol, a proud woman of the travelling tribes. Though rarely seen by many, the tribes would often send a representative to cities and towns to trade for resources. Her people are secretive, and will protect what is theirs and their people against all invaders. It was this very fact that changed Wynth’s life. A band of raiders happened upon the tribe, and attacked without hesitation.
The men were killed outright, brutally and in front of the women. With their hopes dwindling, many women did whatever the raiders wanted no matter what it was. She couldn’t believe their complacency, and her rage and misery boiled over. As one of the raiders grabbed her arm, he began to shriek and cry out for help.
Before everyone they watched him burst into flames. No one knew what to do, being so remote; they had never seen magic like this before. Wynth was lost in black rage, the ropes binding her turned to ash, and a searing pain shot through her.
Everything, in her mind, needed to die.
The raiders for what they did, the men for failing to protect the women, and the women for being so damn complacent.
So as she collapsed to the ground, the fire roared outwards.
When she awoke, she found everything charred and everyone dead. She was distraught, unable to handle what happened she ran. Guilt twists her soul, but so does a deep anger and resentment towards men. She changed her end name to de Luun, to secretly show her hate for the weakness of her tribe.
Eventually she found her way to the tower, not sure how but she did. xD
Potential Ajah: Red
Relationships: Someone be my friend! XD
Other: She can only weave(?) when men are present. And she’s NOT a tinker(er?) --; She also has a distinctive accent (would sound Australian to us).
Omg description... I went on a little tangent, I'm sorry XD
Outlaw JT
23rd March 2010, 01:56 AM
Name: Tahl'Atri
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Rank: Apprentice Warders
Appearance: Tahl'Atri stands at an average 6' even in height. He has a very lean and lithe body. His skin is well tanned but looks to be more a product of living outdoors than any sort of origin. He has long and wild reddish brown hair. His eyes are a pale green but at certain angles or when you catch him in just the right light you might swear they were golden. He is a strikingly handsome young man. When he's training he wears the garb issued to all apprentice warders. On his own time, however, he wears his own clothes. They are well worn furs and leathers and they looked very much like they were stitched together by his own hand as opposed to being bought from a shop or village somewhere.
Personality: He is both friendly and timid. He has an inherent distrust of other people and stays on his guard at all times. He doesn't speak very much but he likes to listen. When there's music playing, he becomes extremely focused on it. Sometimes he'll begin to dance without thought, others he'll simply sit quietly. He is clearly uncomfortable being in a large city like Tar Valon but he never raises any complaints about it.
History: Tahl'Atri was born, of all things, among the Tuatha'an. His early days were filled with laughter, love, music, and dance. Theirs was a very small band of tinkers, only three wagons large. When the boy was just barely 4 a large band of thieves came upon them. They were a heartless lot and visited all manner of horrors upon the tinkers, both living and dead. In their clumsy rage, however, the band managed to miss little Tahl'Atri. He had been hiding in a crawlspace under the largest wagon.
They left and he was left all alone among the corpses of his people. He was found, crying and cradling his mothers body in his little arms, by a hunter some two days later. The man took him in with the intent of leaving him with someone kind hearted in the next village he passed, not knowing what else to do.
Quite by accident, the hunter happened upon the bandits who had slaughtered Tahl'Atri's people on the way. They were already a little drunk but seeing the hunter and the child weren't about to let another victim go free. A mistake on their part as the hunter was a very seasoned warrior. The fight began swiftly and during it a dagger somehow found it's way to Tahl'Atri's feet in the chaos.
The boy saw the dagger, practically a sword to him at that age, and he looked at the bandits that had killed his family. Something inside him snapped and he snatched up the dagger and sprang into the chaos. This caught not only the bandits but the hunter off guard. None of them expected the little child, the tinker child, to pick up a weapon and join the fray. They expected even less how swiftly he was able to move and well he managed to handle the small blade. He flowed through the bandits like a river, slicing at every one he could reach.
The battle ended as swiftly as it had begun and all the bandits lay dead. The hunter looked upon the boy with new eyes. This was not a child fit to be coddled and raised in some farming village. Certainly not anymore. The hunter, a man named Daelin Tors, decided to take it upon himself to raise the lad. Not knowing the boys given name and having seen the way he moved with a blade in his hand, Daelin gave him a new name. Tahl'Atri. In a forgotten tongue the hunter happened to know it meant 'blade dancer'.
So, Tahl'Atri grew up in the wilderness with Daelin as his teacher and his guardian. It was a hard life but it couldn't be said it was a bad one. When Tahl'Atri was 15, however, Daelin succumbed to an illness during a particularly harsh winter. Not knowing where to go or what to do he continued to travel aimlessly, wandering wherever the game was plentiful enough to support him.
Recently, he found himself in the harsh and unforgiving wilderness of the borderlands. Daelin had always taught him that when times were lean it was ok to steal from those who had excess so long as he didn't cause permanent harm. So, when his supply of food ran dry and he couldn't find any game he had to turn to the nearest road, an abandoned path long forgotten by most between two of the border kingdoms.
His first and last mark was a solitary pair, man and woman. He stopped them and demanded, as kindly as he could, that they relinquish half their food to him. When the woman politely refused he drew his sword. Faster than he had ever seen anyone move the man was upon him sword drawn to meet it. If he had not been so fast himself he would have been disarmed and mortally wounded right on the spot.
He managed to get out of the way and deflect the next blow from the man. The two fought for only two minutes. The man was relentless and his attacks were unpredictable. Somehow, though Tahl'Atir managed to hold him off for a time. Eventually, though, the superior swordsman swept away his blade leaving him defenseless.
Rather than kill him, though, the pair identified themselves. Both were greatly impressed by Tahl'Atri's skill, even more so when he told them he'd never been trained with the blade. Instead of abandoning him to the harsh wilderness, the instead extending an invitation. They asked him to return with them to their home where he might be given a purpose and would certainly be given proper training in hopes that he would never have to resort to any such banditry again. So, he returned with them to Tar Valon to begin his training. He arrived two months ago.
JT: Approved, very interesting history ^-^ Itd be interesting to see how my character reacts to yours.
Anyway speaking of which heres mine:
Name: Ren Da'shain
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Rank: Novice
Appearance: Black hair and green eyes, she wears her hair long and straight, with four small braids, two on either side of her head, and the rest of her hair flowing free. She arrives at the tower in her bright and colorful Tinker garb, long flowy ruffled skirts and light blouse. Shes about 5'3", slim and not overall petite looking, with an innocent, friendly face. Her eyes sparkle when she sees something new.
Personality: Curious, happy and optimistic, she sees the good in everything. Very peaceful, she follows the Way of the Leaf to a T, upholding the Tinker ideals of never causing harm or even touching a weapon of war. Not having much contact with those not of her kind, she is curious about strangers and people from different areas. Shes seen a lot of the world in her travelling caravan, but still is a bit naiive, as her people make it a point not to get too close to other tribes. Shes friendly though, believing everyone is like her people, peaceful and only wanting to live a happy life of song and dance, and of course seeking the Song.
History: Grew up in a Tinker caravan, her parents and older brother raising her in the Way of the Leaf. She lived a pretty peaceful life, learning the ways of peace and singing and dancing, she also became good at playing the flute. She had heard of other caravans being attacked and people killed, she had heard of wars and wickedness in the world of course, but it so far had not touched her life personally and so it seemed almost like a story to scare young children, almost like it wasnt real. Her caravan and family had been lucky and fortunate. Until one day her brother came down with a horrible sickness, he had a very high fever and coughed up blood regularly. They said he was close to death. Being very close to her brother, as he taught her how to play the flute and always watched out for her as she played in the surrounding fields, she was very distraught and felt like a part of her was dying with him. Feeling like there was nothing else she could do, she started playing his favorite song on the flute, and it was in these moments she started to channel for the first time, laying a healing weave upon him in her desire for him to live. He made a speedy recovery later that day to the shock of the others, and she had believed it was the work of her flute playing until an Aes Sedai came into the camp. She had been camping nearby when she had felt a woman channeling in the Tinker camp, and after a quick search discovered it was her. Her family didnt want anything to do with an Aes Sedai at first until the Aes Sedai calmly informed them that Ren is a wilder, and if she did not receive proper training at the white tower, she may die or cause others around her to, due to the fact that she doesnt yet know how to control her weaving. Seeing they had no choice, her family bid her goodbye, and she vowed she would return to the Tinker ways after her training. Though somehow both she and her family knew that she may never return.
Potential Ajah: Interested in Yellow for obvious reasons but also Blue and Brown appeal to her
Relationships: Open~
Other: She will refuse to do anything destructive or even so much as touch a sword. Though since shes very curious she will be a bit morbidly curious about the warders, having never seen a man wear a sword. Being a wilder, she has a block preventing her from weaving reliably. She can only weave if shes playing her flute, and the song and emotions it evokes manages what kind of weave it is. She will have to do some practice to work past this and weave normally without using her flute as a crutch.
On the bright side, she wouldn't know he was a tinker until she saw him dance. He doesn't even really know himself he was born a tinker. He was only 4, and barely that, when that life was taken from him. He remembers the songs and the dances (and might surprise you when he starts one of the woman's dances since he doesn't know any better) but little else except being around lots of laughter and music and bright colors.
Here's an NPC Asi asked me to do.
Mistress Mirajane
Age: unknown
Gender: Female (duh)
Rank: Mistress of Novices
Ajah: Grey
Appearance: She appears as a slim, slightly attractive woman with a motherly air about her. Her hair is long and white while her eyes are a calm blue. She wears a simple white dress with a hood, decorated with bits of grey to show her ajah. While she normally walks around bare-footed, when outside she will wear some white shoes to protect her feet.
Personality: For the most part, Mirajane comes off as sweet and motherly, ready to help any of her girls when life gets a bit much for them. Strangely enough, despite this cheerful, friendly disposition, she’s known for giving out harsh punishments (cleaning the tower for a week and such), all while smiling brightly. She rarely gives out lashings, though these moment are ones when she’s not smiling (and those who were lashed do NOT want to relive the experience.
History: It cannot be said that Mirajane’s life was a rather spectacular one. She had acted as a diplomat for various kingdoms in the past before deciding to return to the tower and taking up the role of Mistress of Novices. Most novices tend to like her, due to her caring, motherly nature, but at the same time know not to cross her, since she’s also notorious for dishing out ridiculously harsh punishments, all while smiling cheerfully (at one point, she had a novice climb to the top of the tower to clean the roof).
Meh, why not? I'll join the fun.
Name: Kiren Tursch
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Rank: Apprentice Warders
Appearance: Since clothing is very lax in Shienar, he usually wears a simple tunic with pants. He has a good build from training after his incident and is 5'6" which is slightly shorter than people in his town. His eyes are a sharp green from his mother and his skin is tanned. His hair is jet black, long and is swept to the left. His shoes are just plain black boots. He doesn't enjoy being flashy but dresses nicely when required.
Personality: He is usually quiet but can speak up when he wants to. He enjoys doing outrageous stunts to impress people, specifically girls but knows his limits. He's not a guy you'd find in a corner. When he thinks he has a reputation and will do everything to keep it. You don't find him staring. You find him studying and observing which makes him less likely to mistakes. That's why Kiren usually never makes mistakes. But he is a short tempered.
History: Kiren's parents are divorced. His mother is a Domani while his father is a Shienaran. They met when Kiren's mother was traveling because she didn't want to live in Arad Doman anymore. When growing up, Kiren had always watched the men fight. He studied how the swords clashed and how to defend himself. One day, he witnessed a murder. A man wrapped in black clothing roamed the streets and killed anyone who didn't move out his way. Kiren watched as this man delivered death to others. He couldn't stand it. He snuck over to a dead man and took his sword. Kiren was educated. He was very smart and understood angles and physics. Aiming, he threw the sword in an arc, aimed at the deadly man's head. The man simply raised his sword and the thrown sword balanced on the tip. Two seconds later, it shattered. Kiren screamed. What was this man doing? He grabbed another dead man's sword and engaged into a fight with the mysterious man. Kiren felt a rush of power and he actually disarmed the man. Amazed, Kiren dropped his sword and passed out. When he regained conscious, he was lying in bed, his mother stroking his head. He asked what happened to the man. His mother looked at him strangely, telling him that a villager came by dropped him off with a sword. Kiren found the sword and swore that this sword would defend and purged of death. He has now been admitted as a Apprentice Warder.
Potential Ajah: n/a
Relationships: Open to anybody :D
Other: Since Kiren has gone trips with his mother, he is prone to girls and lovesick usually. He likes them. It's not his fault. :D
Heres an NPC Asi convinced me to make since i had no ideas to join up with lol.
Name: Wystan Tate
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Rank: Apprentice Warder
Appearance: Small for his age, often mistook for a much younger boy. Has scruffy brown hair and blue eyes. He appears quite slight in build and the image is not helped that he prefers to wear quite baggy clothes. Typically a plain beige tunic and brown cloth pants. Is often seen with a stick of chalk or some other writing material behind his ear for scribbling on stone.
Personality: Hes a likeable kind of person but feels he is treated by most as that 'harmless younger brother' type. Pushed aside and ignored. Is frustrated that he seems overlooked and underestimated due simply to his build so constantly strives to outdo himself. He is competent with a blade but by no means a swordsman. He prefers the use of a Bow and is fairly accurate with it. He is also somewhat an inventor which is why he always keeps some form of writing implement on him. He seems to have an affinity and understanding with how things work, specifically simple mechanisms. Along with his father training him as a woodworker In his home villiage he had designed and built a more efficient water wheel to drive the mill by the time he was only 12. The bow he carries was crafted by himself and features a primitive pulley wheel system at either end, greatly increasing the power of the arrows he fires.
History: His skills were revered in his small viliage with a number of his inventions improving their way of life however it wasnt long untill some began to wonder if it wasnt something more than a simple talent. Some suspected him of having other worldly powers and it was suggested to send him for training in Tor Valon. He was reluctant to go, much prefering to keep working with his mechanisms rather than take up the sword but he was convinced that he had a calling. With trepidation he joined the ranks of the Apprentice Warders.
Relationships: None
Other: Has a habit of daydreaming if he sees something that gives him an idea, working out how his idea could evolve instead of concentrating with the task in hand.
VirtualPlay
24th April 2010, 08:15 PM
Name: Kienna Li'alla
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Rank: Novice
Appearance: Kienna is 5'5" and rather slim, not having very much of a figure. Her skin is slightly tanned from the sun. Her dark blond hair is shoulder length, cut in layers with bangs she's growing out clipped to either side of her face. Her eyes are a bright amethyst, and are usually the first thing people notice about her.
Her clothing is fairly plain but with detailed accents. She wears a simple pale blue skirt which stops mid-shin which has a line of silver studs down each side. Her shirt is a strapless tube-style that wraps under her arms and reaches just past her skirt top; the shirt is white but the top hem is the same pale blue as her skirt. She wears soft white shoes that slide on and fasten with ribbon that wrap a few inches up her leg. She has a chain bracelet on each wrist made of silver with a circular charm that has an intricate design; she also wears a necklace with the same charm that hangs a couple inches above the upper hem of her top.
Personality: Kienna knows that hardships happen, but she is able to take a bright outlook on life because she knows that there will always be another day. Because of this she is almost never seen frowning, and always seems to cheer up anyone she's around. There are times she gets determined and set on doing something, but she's more focused than upset.
History: Kienna is the eldest of 3 girls, and her sisters currently are 13 (Mai'lyn) and 10 (Nessia). Their father ran away when she was 6 (for a reason he never revealed) just before Nessia was born and when Mai'lyn was only 2, so only Kienna really remembers him. Her mother (Biella) managed to move on for a few years, but by the time Kienna reached 12 she had to take up various odd jobs in the village to make ends meet. Her sisters would quite often help in any way they could, and eventually Mai'lyn got to the point where she could do her own jobs as well.
But with times changing, it wasn't quite enough to support 4 women in one home. This was why Kienna decided to leave for the White Tower, as Mai'lyn was capable of helping their mother for the 3 remaining women and perhaps her training would help them all in the long run.
Potential Ajah: Either Blue or Yellow
Relationships: None yet…open?
Other: Don't know enough yet…
25th April 2010, 08:50 AM
NPCs:
Name: Li'Lendra
Age: claims to be 58 but looks no more than her early 30's with the Aes Sedai agelessness in full effect.
Gender: Female?
Rank: Aes Sedai
Description: She wears clothing befitting a woman of court in Shienar. Her hair is styled in Shienaran fashion, auburn in color with subtle red highlights. She carries herself very well. She's capable and often does walk as a Lady of high court but has been known to walk with the heavy gait of an off-duty soldier. She actually does exercises with her Warder and on occasion will spar with the recruits with practice blades. She is in exceptional shape and while not a woman of striking allure she is of fair beauty and she gives off an approachable air when she's not in a foul mood (which usually only forms from a prolonged conversation with a Red). She wears he green shawl always except when exercising. She is not modest or shy in the least but is always careful and behaving appropriately for the setting.
History: She is from a lesser noble house in Shienar. Her potential for channeling was made evident when she was six and she was sent to the tower with pride immediately. She wasn't one of the best but she was better than average with The One Power. Having a bit of the warrior and a bit of the wanderer in her she set out and traveled as soon as she was a full sister. Her earliest such adventurers were less than flawless. She realized she needed a Warder and so upon returning home she set out to find one. She settled on a young Shienaran soldier with great promise. The young man was honored and agreed without thought. The pair have traveled around ever since, returning to Tar Valon once every seven months or so for a few months.
Ajah: Green. She is a proud member of the Battle Ajah
Relationships: She has a friendly rivalry with the Mistress of Novices as they were both up for the position (although Li'Lendra didn't really want it). She is the Aes Sedai who brought Tahl'Atri to the tower. She is aware of most of the novices and accepted as she occasionally serves as a tutor regarding elemental weaves.
Other:
Name: Eldar Sumen
Age: 39
Gender: Male
Rank: Warder
Appearance: Eldar is a strongly built man of average height. His hair is black and done up in a typical Shienaran top knot. His clothing matches the fashion of Shienaran soldiers. At his hip he keeps sheathed a heron mark sword. On his back he often bares a round shield bearing a black bear against a green background. He has a gruff air about him and carries himself like a disciplined soldier except when in the private company of those close to him. He almost always wears his Warder's cloak, like a badge of honor.
Personality: He is a serious man and a soldier through and through. He is well disciplined and is careful with his words. Aside from the occasional of-hand remark he usually censures himself very carefully and only says exactly what he means to. He has a fair sense of humor for a soldier but usually only a fellow soldier will follow it.
History: He grew up as a promising soldier in the service of Lord Agelton in Fal Dara. When an Aes Sedai came calling for a Warder, he was one of the soldiers who volunteered and he was chosen. The two became fast friends and have had numerous adventures since. They seem to keep a very friendly and open relationship. They have been known both to share each others bed and to separately share their beds with others. They are both fairly discreet and careful about both.
Relationships: He is Li'Lendra's Warder and is one of the few Warders recognized as a Blademaster. He occasionally offers himself to teach or spar with the recruits.
Other: Anything else? Little quirks, phobias etc.
Dominus
25th April 2010, 10:02 PM
Name: Antara Chimera
Age: 68
Gender: Male or Female?
Rank: Green Aes Sedai
Appearance: She is almost 6 feet tall, bearing an elegant demeanor, but one that is ready for action, like a tiger. She dresses oddly for an Aes Sedai, while her green clothes are as fine as any might wish for, her tunic and skirt are fairly plain, and underneath, she secretly wears pants. Her hair is dark, and usually pulled back into a pony tail, and she has blue eyes. Of course, the single most jarring elements of her appearance are the large number of very fine scars she bears, most of them on her arms, though there's a notable one across her right cheek, as well, she wears a Heron marked sword on her hip.
Personality: Antara Sedai is bold, confident, strong, and extremely non-traditional for an Aes Sedai. She takes her duty as one who safeguards against the forces of the dark one very seriously, and feels all the politicking of the rest of the Aes Sedai to be 'Thrice Blasted Foolishness'. In fact, she goes out of her way to spend as much time as possible away from the Tower.
History: Antara was, long ago, born in the kingdom of Malkier, before it was consumed by the Blight, and was found to be gifted, and traveled to the Tower at the tender young age of 10. Hearing of the loss of her country was a highly scarring experience, and caused her to end up choosing the Green Ajah. Additionally, once she attained the Shawl, she immediately began to spurn most Tower traditions, causing a large degree of turmoil before she departed with her three warders to aid the Borderlands. This has produced, within the Borderlands, a very high degree of esteem for her, and to the consternation of other Aes Sedai, an occasional mixup when they ask if they'd join them in forays against shadowspawn. Over the pasty fourty or so years she has gone through no less than six warders, all of whom have died, in battle, within the Blight. She was recalled to the tower by order of the Amyrlin a year ago, to do a secret penance by teaching accepted and novice classes, after the most recent three had all died in the same expedition into the Blight. She has spent the time both recuperating from the backlash of losing the three, as well as instructing both some accepted classes, as well as aiding the occasional warder training session, much to the chagrin of her fellows.
Ajah: Green
Other:
NPC:
Name: Talia Arien
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Rank: Novice
Appearance: Bearing dark hair pulled back in a ponytail and brilliant green eyes, she is no more than five feet tall, and overall quite petit. She wears the novice white without shame, or chagrin, or even pride, but more as a fact, and her bearing shows it.
Personality: Talia seems very.... unemotional, doing things matter of factly and generally showing as little outward emotion as possible. She doesn't hold with gossip, and is very studious, but at the same time, isn't afraid to stick her nose in and correct others.
History: Talia is from Tear, and was essentially purchased from her parents(more taken at sword point with a bag of money left behind) shortly after her birth, to be the subject of a mad noble's idea of literally raising people for specific purposes, in her case, a records keeper/advisor. This was, however, ruined when she first tapped into the One Power, and prevented him from having another 'subject' beaten, having gotten rebellious due to having been exposed to so many unnecessary concepts due to her intended duties. She was, as is the Tairen tradition, then sent upriver to Tar Valon as a foul witch.
Potential Ajah: Brown, White, or Grey
Relationships:
Other: She has a minor block as well, being reliant upon writing the concept of what she's trying to do in order to weave.
Outlaw JT
30th April 2010, 03:37 PM
Name: Elya Daneiri
Age: 18
Gender:Female
Rank: Novice
Appearance: Elya is on the short side at only 5'4" but the wise don't underestimate her because of it. She has wavy shoulder length strawberry hued dark hair. Her complexion is close to that of the Ebou Dari but slightly more pale. Elya is astrikingly beautiful and there's a mischievousness to her expressions. She is always smiling and has the look of someone who is always thinking on something, though not always seriously. She dutifully wears her novice dress but whenever she can get away with it she wears it clipped to above the knee on one side as the fashion in Ebou Dar. There is a mischievous fire in her emerald eyes.
Personality: Elya is a fun-loving misfit and a troublemaker and just about everyone knows it. Of course, just about no one has found a way to prove it. Not even the Mistress of Novices. In her three year stay she's only been caught at mischief once. Everyone suspects she is responsible for numerous unsolved pranks but she is quite adept at not leaving evidence or witness. She's the girl the other novices/accepted turn to when they want something or wish a slight by a fellow novice/accepted repaid. She is friendly and filled beyond the brim with energy. She has the personality of an Ebou Dari woman to her very core. She loves dueling and is quite capable with a thin blade or a dagger.
History: Elya was actually born in Amadicia of all places. When she was only 6, though, her mother discovered her potential for channeling. Before anyone else could find out she moved them to Ebou Dar. There she grew up as a casual misfit and a bit of a feminine rogue. She took odd jobs to help the family but never seemed capable of keeping one for some dispute or other with her bosses. A couple years ago a woman there recognized her talent for channeling when Elya used it to win a duel with a large loutish fellow who splashed mud on her dress accidentally and refused to apologize. The woman sent word to the Aes Sedai and they came for her. She went reluctantly to better learn to control her channeling as it didn't always listen to her.
Potential Ajah: Green or Blue most likely.
Relationships: open to suggestions.
Other: She has a minor occasional block. Sometimes she can channel freely at will. Sometimes she needs to have a thin blade or a dagger in hand to be able to channel.
A quick message to let everyone with a player character know:
If you havent yet posted in the RPG (which has started btw XD) you have a week to do so before your character is made into an NPC. Also, if anyone wants to post as one of the npcs they are free to, and if they would like to claim an npc as their own personal character all they have to do is post as that char and post here to claim it. Once a week starting this week Ill review the posts for the week and give out Weaves/Form masteries to people who earn it through posting in the rpg and here.
Hope everyone has fun and if you have any ideas for me or anyone definately share!
She comes, she comes...
The Watcher of the Seals. The Flame of Tar Valon.
The Amyrlin Seat...
Its time to distribute Weaves and Forms! What weave/form and how powerful it is will depend on many factors, how often you posted, the character development/interaction in your posts, and plot value to name a few. You can also consider this a roll call, post here in any manner you wish so I know you have seen your new power. Any powers you receive every week can be used in your posts, and you may find some will come in handy as the plot develops!
But before we get to the rewards the Amyrlin Seat has decided the following characters are now npcs:
Kienna Li'alla (Virtualplay)
Kiren Tursch (Patar)
You guys can reclaim your characters by posting as them, otherwise anyone is free to post as these characters if you want.
Now to the fun stuff. First the Accepted will step forward.
Wynth de Luun: Posted once, intro'd her characters personality well, leading a class of npcs and pcs. Due to being 'forced' to be a teacher, a position she doesnt hate but is sometimes annoyed by, Wynth has learned how to keep an unruly student silent by discovering the weave of Binding. Using flows of air, she can hold a students mouth shut, or bind a students hand to their side, but needs more practice before full binding is possible.
Esyllt Teardhrin: Posted once, great backstory, ajah affiliation and character mentioning. Having spent a good amount of her free time in the Warder Courtyard and around the Green Ajah, she has seen and learned the weaves for the Warder Bond This weave allows an Aes Sedai to bond a Warder, as described in the beginning of this thread. Though she has seen it she had been strictly forbidden to use it on a man until she has been made a full Aes Sedai.
Now, the Novices may step forward.
Elya Daneiri: Posted once, a bit of insight into the characters personality. Due to her penchant for mischief and exploration, she knows the interior of the White Tower very well, and can accurately find her way to where she wants to go, with a good chance of not being caught by Aes Sedai. This is also how she was able to find a forbidden place such as the Warder's Courtyard so well.
Ren Da'shain {{If anyone wants to do her since shes my character please do, I want to keep it fair XD}}
The Apprentice Warders step forward.
Tahl'Atri: Posted twice, good intro, a few plot mysteries alluded to, very slight interaction. His confidence returning at being outside and able to practice allows him to master Cat Crosses the Courtyard, a walk giving off the air of confidence and danger. His practice beside the Novice class, fluid and smooth like water, becomes Water Flows Downhill, a low, flowing strike that appears slower than it actually is, catching the opponent off guard and forcing them to expose their upper half should they parry.
Vitch Nyora: Posted twice, ok intro, some personality shown, included NPC in post. Gave his character a weakness, which is always a good thing. Due to his lack of confidence and strength, Vitch has been forced out of his desire to not be hit to accidently learn Unfolding the Fan. This form can unsheathe the sword and stroke at the same time. Can also be used if caught off guard or in an awkward position. While he is unsure of what to do in battle, he unwittingly masters The Wood Grouse Dances, a tentative series of short slashes, thrusts, and parries, usually from a stationary point. Used to feel out an enemy.
And finally, even a Aes Sedai must step forward.
Antara Chimera: Posted once, good intro, included PC and NPCs, revealed some history and personality. From her connections both in the Warder camp and with other Aes Sedai, she learns that many of the Ajah Sitters have been meeting with each other unofficially recently, making use of her also recent discovery of an Undetectable Eavesdrop Weave. Allows her to eavesdrop with the power on unshielded conversations without a channeler being aware.
Thats all for this week, if you have any questions just ask. Please also make use of this topic to help each other with character interactions, since everyone will benefit from it!
You may also have noticed no NPCs were included in receiving powers. Only player characters may, but if you post using an npc it will give you an extra boost towards gaining new powers for your char. If you wish to have a certain NPC gain powers, please post here stating you are making that npc one of your player characters and they will start to receive new powers as well.
The Amyrlin Seat will return next week! Until then, happy posting!
Crazy Elf Boy
22nd May 2010, 09:13 PM
Name: Reens Aden
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Rank: Apprentice Warder
Appearance: Reens is slightly more built then someone of his background should be, standing at 6’2” has short blond hair with dark hazel eyes. His skin is slightly tanned and covered in a numerous amounts of cuts and scars from accidents gone wrong. He normally wears his apprentice warder attire but sometimes he likes to slip into clothes of his own making. These clothes usually make him blend into his surroundings as to make him unnoticed. These clothes are a light grey colour making them very unimpressive but effective at their job.
Personality: Reens is a kind man but is subjected to small fits of rage which go against his heritage (or do they?) But besides these he is normally a calm and collected person, quiet maybe. But this silence was a product of his childhood. These fits of rage usually only come out when someone he believes is important to him.
History: Reens comes from what you could call a fractured childhood this mostly due to the fact his father was a warrior from Saldea, while his mother is one of the Tuatha'an. This opposing dichotomy of heritages has almost torn Reens apart and has caused him many problems throughout his childhood. Even though he has never met his father he knows that from him he inherited his bloodlust. As a child Reens used to play with the other Tuatha'an children but one day his rage got the better of him and during this rage he punched one of the other children. This event sparked much argument over wether he should be allowed to stay within the confines of the caravan he belonged to, how could such violence be permitted among the Tuatha'an. After much talk among the others it was finally decided that he would be allowed to stay but his contact with others would be quite limited. This led him into a slight depression, he was only a kid and the rest of the people around him saw him as a beast. During the rest of his childhood his solitude gave him a chance to become better at his trade, he learned how to repair things and even build some of his own. He managed to craft a wooden sword of his own wanting to learn how to control his inner rage. Through years of silently sneaking away from the caravan for brief moments he managed to teach himself slowly how to wield a sword. Then when he heard of the White Tower and what opportunities it could hold for him, he left his caravan under the cover of darkness and eventually found himself at the gates of the tower. Thinking that he could use his rage for the powers of good rather then evil and for something or someone to cure his loneliness.
Relationships: Open
Other: Solitude used to be his only friend, now it has become his mortal enemy. (In other words he doesn’t like being alone even though he is drawn to it.)
We can't have Ren falling behind in class can we? Ren has learned a music weave using her flute known as The Sparrow's Song. When she plays the magical number, small birds come to her. (This is of course, cuz no one came up with a spell..)
My character :3
Name: Jalini La'Kallan, but calls herself Saril (reason explained below)
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Rank: Novice
Appearance: Saril is a very beautiful young lady, with a slim and toned figure. Her skin is evenly tanned, probably quite dark compared to most of the other girls, without a single blemish in sight. Her hair is very long, almost long enough to sit on, very wavy and healthy looking. It's very dark brown, with the exception of a few lighter highlights from her time in the sun. Her eyes seem to change colour between shades of blue and green, never seeming to settle. She's about average height for a girl her age, around 5'6''. As for clothing, Saril wears this dress (http://peachesandhoney.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/10331_139130461554_124383446554_3138601_665605_n-450x600.jpg). Strangely, it covers her arms, which hides the tattoos that her country are so famous for. They run from the back of her hands and over her shoulders, where the patterns trail off towards her torso. The patterns represent the wind and water that her people rely on to survive. She wears quite a lot of jewellery, especially in her ears. These (http://z.about.com/d/accessories/1/0/a/0/-/-/red-gypsy-hoop-earrings.jpg) hang from her earlobes, with two smaller silver hoops higher up. The gems on the hoops are aqua in colour, though, not red. Around her right ankle are a few thin, silver bangles, and the left ankle has a single thin silver chain. The only odd piece of jewellery (at least for her culture) is a small sea shell hung on a piece of string around her neck. She won't take any of this off and if you tried to, she'd probably bite you...
Personality: Saril's actually quite a calm girl, despite her constant protesting of being carted off to the White Tower. She's normally laid back, taking time to enjoy life, but takes her studying quite seriously. She's not a push over though and will probably make every attempt at escaping. She's not at all self-conscious, in fact she loves the attention of others, especially the passing stares from the wandering eyes of men. She enjoys teasing them, especially the land folk, since she never left the ship, it was great fun to flirt with them, but now that she's surrounded by them, she's rather uncomfortable. Don't expect her to understand any cultural differences between races, because as far as she's concerned, you're all land dwellers and therefore the same. She's very good at bargaining and getting her own way, a trait shared by most of her people, and will learn to use this to her advantage. It will take her a while to settle, if she does at all, but will try not to push people away and make friends with them because if she's stuck there, she will be very lonely if she didn't make friends, and she hates being alone.
History: Saril is from Atha'an Miere, a group of people that live on ships and islands in the Sea of Storms. She is the daughter of the Windfinder to the Mistress of the Ships and is expected to do well as a Windfinder and progress to this level when she is older. She's the equivalent to a novice, I suppose, upon her ship, but is possibly more advanced and closer to gaining a higher rank, since she is well practised as a Windfinder. She is particularly good with the wind and water elements, as this is what they practise in order to direct the ships safely.
She enjoyed life at sea, never leaving the ship in fear that she would be found by the Aes Sedai and forced into training. Unfortunately, the last time they docked to trade, she decided to go ashore in an attempt to conquer her fear of the land, but was discovered and kidnapped, taking her off to the White Tower. She was unaware of her destination at the time, but as they got closer and she realised, she began to protest, but to no avail. She's just about to arrive, and she's not very happy about it...
Saril is her Salt Name, a name given to her only a few years ago, as with their customs. She uses this name in the White Tower as she does not want to bring any disgrace to her family. It means “running water”.
Potential Ajah: I'm thinking blue or brown. Cos she's a bit of both... We'll see how it goes.
Relationships: None at all.
Other: Doesn't particularly like small spaces, or the idea of being confined. She's so used to the open sea and the ability to go pretty much where she pleases that the White Tower is a complete culture shock to her; this is honestly the first time she's been on dry land.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atha'an_Miere This was useful to read if you want to understand more :3
Alrighty, second char... Not an NPC.. Not really. Though I probably won't post as him as much as I will Wynth...
Name: Bredan Avari or 'Sil'
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Rank: Apprentice
Appearance: 6 foot, with white-blond hair and a spotless complexion. His eyes are a soft, serene silver colouration that quite capturing to all who look upon them (and odd, often provoking questions). That being said, the rest of his features are also quite attractive, he's spent years at the tower training to become a Warder, so his body is toned and built (though more athletic then pure power). He stands with perfect posture most of the time, and almost seems soldier-like in aura. His expression is usually neutral, and in training it's critical and decisive. That's not saying he's made of stone, he'll smile and chuckle (maybe even relax) when the time's right. Of course, no matter what he's doing, no one can deny that darkness that seems to emanate from him at times, especially in heated, aggressive combat. He wears dark clothing. In fact everything on him is black or a very dark grey, including his fancy trench-coat that has a high collar, it can hide about half his face if he wants. But he doesn't wear it unless it's cold out. Other wise he's in a tank top like shirt, black trousers and boots.
Personality: Unusually quiet, not many can say much about Sil. People who do talk to him say he's a great listener, but not much else. When fighting, people say he takes on a darker persona, and seems extremely focused.
Weapon: His weapon is something that seems to mean a great deal too him. It's a cruel looking, double ended sword. It's hilt inbetween the two blades is burnt and charred black from fires, while the blades are almost a rust colour that are stained red (from years of murdering helpless people), and have deep groves in the edge giving it the cruel appearance of a saw. What's unique (and unknown) about the weapon is that it can split at the middle of the handle, effectively giving the apprentice two swords so he can change tactics.
History: Bredan doesn't talk about his past (Or much of anything... see other), though if he could, he probably wouldn't go to mentioning how his mother and sister were torn apart before him. Evil men came down on his family when he was very young, they raped and murdered his only family in front of his eyes before they kidnapped him. Bredan spent three years in a bandit camp (a camp, with notably, little to no honour), he was taught to be brutal and sadistic, something that his mind seemed eager to grasp as he still couldn't properly deal with what he saw. The bandits called him Sil, as he never spoke a word to anyone, and for the most part kept to himself. Those three years taught him an unorthodox, misleading and yet horribly inhumane way of slaughtering opponents. When a freak accident (involving a lot of fire...) destroyed his new 'family', he was found by a passing Aes Sedai and Warder, who, not knowing of the boy's past crimes, took him to the tower. He's been at the tower since he was 14, and in all those years, has never spoken a WORD to anyone.
Relationships: Probably knows a lot of people, but doesn't speak to them...
Other: Bredan is mute, he also can't write. His style of fighting is very unpredictable and cruel, he doesn't go for the straight kill. Rather he enjoys playing with his prey, some might've noticed this after the years. He only knows how to write two things, 'Sil' and 'Bredan'. Most likely, everyone calls him Sil.
*grumble grumble at reading Wynthe's post*
It's a channeling class. It seemed obvious to me that most of the girls would be channeling to practice the weaves the class was working on. If no one was channeling Elya never would have done a weave like that in view of any Aes Sedai. I don't mind her getting caught but it would never be for something as idiotic as channeling without there being a pretense for it.
ChobiChibi
24th May 2010, 08:45 AM
The point is that the novices aren't allowed to channel without permission. Perhaps at that point in the class they were supposed to be listening, not practicing? And like Wynth wouldn't punish her... Not only is it an in character thing for her to do, but if Wynth was caught letting a novice channel without permission, then she'd be punished, no?
And anyway, that opens up possibilities for the future anyway. Cleaning could be fun :P
Asilynne
24th May 2010, 11:42 AM
Just like in real life, actions have consequences. Even if the whole class were channeling at that point, youve read the books so you know that each person who can channel can see the weaves that others are doing (unless they have been inverted, and I cant let a novice know such an advanced weave). So if the whole class is weaving the same thing, you are weaving something else, its going to be obvious the weave your using isnt the same one, especially if different elements and threads are used. I described weaving once before as being a bit like chemistry, different combinations of the 5 flows and different ways of weaving them produce different effects.
This rpg is more fun if your not too perfect anyway. Think of it this way, if you can roll with unexpected events in an rpg it makes you a better roleplayer. Try giving your character some flaws to overcome and the struggle will richly reward you.
Outlaw JT
Like I said, I don't have a problem with Elya getting caught. I just have a severe objection to how Wynth has her getting caught in the post. If Wynth happened to spot at the back of the class through all the other girls weaves the weave Elya was using was different and notice Esyllt's reaction to it to piece together it isn't a weave Elya is supposed to be practicing that's fine by me. Having her get caught for something that ridiculously obvious wide out in the open, though, is not something that would happen.
Asilynne
24th May 2010, 05:32 PM
Well in your next post, write the catching in a way that makes it seem like it wasnt so obvious. Its not like it would be the first time someone altered a tiny detail in their post. But keep in mind she would still get caught, especially since Wynth is well aware of Elya's mischeviousness, she would most likely be keeping a much closer eye on her than on any of the more well behaved novices. lol
All I can say is roll with it, its not the end of the world lol The how doesnt matter so much because the outcome is the same, lets not make a huge deal about it and have fun.
ChobiChibi
24th May 2010, 06:18 PM
But there was nothing in either JT's or Naiya's post that said that she was weaving this whispering spell at the same time as they were practicing the other weaves. So from this, she was bound to be noticed...
Look, it's just the way she decided to interpret events, and since there's nothing specifying when she did it, it could have been at any time...
Anyway, there's more fun things to be dealing with now... Like the girl who will probably shout the tower down before they manage to get her into full Novice attire :D
Aahaha, I can't wait for trouble XD
Aye carumba!!! How could you have possibly gotten Elya that fricking wrong? That's not at all how she would have reacted to Ren's reaction. Not even remotely close. Her response if Ren refused would've been almost exactly the same as Benua-Sedai's. She would have sighed with a little disappointment and then walked Ren to the Mistress of Novices office herself and explained the situation to Mirajane herself with sympathy. She's mischievous, not heartless and her suggestion really was intended to help both of them, not just herself. From her perspective, her offer was a favor and a kind way of welcoming Ren given what she knew to be the likely alternative. Why does everyone want to make Elya out to be a moronic evil witch?
Asilynne
29th May 2010, 11:56 AM
Sorry JT but the way your portraying her is making it seem that her intentions arent the best. It basically was a bit of blackmail and extortion "Tell you what I wont tell anyone what you did if you do half my chores" etc. Unless your character is suffering from schitzophrenia you shouldnt expect me to find a logical progression between telling someone to help you or you will tell on them, to sympathy and understanding. It doesnt really fit the pattern (no pun intended) of her behavior so far.
If I mistook her reactions Im sorry, I was only going by the attitude that had been portrayed by yourself and others, if my character isnt supposed to see her that way, then youd better have her actions reflect the proper attitude you want her to have ^-^()
Edit: if itll make you feel better Ill change "I strode away from her as she sputtered angrily, starting after me" To "I strode away from her as she looked on" because the rest of my post besides this line seems to reflect the ideal you would like Elya to have.
Outlaw JT
29th May 2010, 01:16 PM
But her reacting so angrily to Ren like that doesn't fit her at all if you read my posts and her profile. She is angry with Wynth because Wynth is an accepted and isn't supposed to have as much power over her as she exhibited by issuing more work than is physically possible to do in the time frame given. Her actions towards Ren were equal parts compassion and opportunistic. They were motivated as much by sympathy for the new girl as they were by her own desire to make her punishment more reasonable. Her smile when her stern expression broke was genuine and reads that way when I go back and read my post. It wasn't blackmail or extortion. It was Elya just being opportunistic while trying to help the new girl out. She never would've actually reported Ren unless Ren decided to report herself and in that case she would've made a case to Mirajane-Sedai to try and lesson the new girls punishment.
This is why I never posted in the last Dragonball rpg again. Someone made a post including my characters actions that was so unbelievably contrary to my character based on a major misinterpretation of the smallest part of my post that it completely soured me because public perception was completely tainted by it.
Edit- And Elya didn't catch her in the warder's courtyard. They were there legitimately because their instructor wanted to teach class outdoors and as a courtesy to Tahl'Atri since his presence was required in the class for one of the girls to channel.
Asilynne
29th May 2010, 01:35 PM
See the edit in my above post. That was my only mention of Elya being angry, how she was talking in the other ones are just as you wanted, opportunistic, but my character, being already fearful, wouldnt have read your character sheet and could interpret her actions as not being kind. She is naiive and when faced with a person who is stern and scaring her with what she has done wrong on her first day, and then next smiling and acting as though she wants to help, my character wouldnt take that as a gesture of goodwill. She is used to open and free giving, not Elya's opportunistic ways.
As I said I will change that line, but I was not "that fricken wrong" as you so eloquently put it, considering I even had Elya say "Im trying to help you out since your the new girl".
And as for Dragonball FS, your rigidity is what killed it, you had disappeared for months only to come back and scold those of us who actually wanted to finish it for misinterpreting what had essentially been an NPC for months. You tend to lose interest if your characters cannot be perfect, so I will ask you to relax, and try to have fun, because otherwise there is no point in roleplaying.
If you cannot do that, I would ask that you dont ruin the fun of others by constantly reprimanding people for their posts, the only thing that would accomplish is either they dont include you in their posts for fear of getting yelled at, or they stop posting altogether due to the fun being leeched out of the story. When roleplaying becomes a chore or something to dread, RPGs die. And Im being very sincere and open with you right now, just try to chill. A good life lesson is choose your battles. Im on msn at the moment if you need to talk to me about anything, I dont like drama and I would like it if it could get worked out so that everyone is happy.
Outlaw JT
29th May 2010, 01:52 PM
I wasn't talking about Dragonball FS. I was talking about someone elses Dragonball rpg that was active late last year.
I am on AIM but I lost my msn id when I had to completely reinstall my computer last week. Been trying to recover it but no luck so far as it's been years since I actually used the email it's attached to.
As to the fun/chore issue, that goes both ways. If I have to spend all of my posts just doing damage control because people are misrepresenting my character that leeches all of the fun out of the story for me. What am I supposed to do when others are ruining my fun by misusing my character?
Asilynne
29th May 2010, 02:04 PM
All I can say is be more clear. After you write a post a simple one or two sentences saying something like "Elya's not trying to be a bitch, shes just being her typical opportunistic misceivious self" can serve as a handy reminder so that whoever uses her in their next post will be able to post HER reactions accordingly. That persons character may still think that Elya is being a bitch, but it would help the roleplayer get Elya's reactions correct.
Aside from one minor detail in my post Elya is still in character so not much damage control is needed there. Did you want that line changed? Just say it and in two seconds I would have portrayed your character decently well so you shouldnt have a problem.
She comes, she comes...
The Watcher of the Seals. The Flame of Tar Valon.
The Amyrlin Seat...
Its time to distribute Weaves and Forms! What weave/form and how powerful it is will depend on many factors, how often you posted, the character development/interaction in your posts, and plot value to name a few. You can also consider this a roll call, post here in any manner you wish so I know you have seen your new power. Any powers you receive every week can be used in your posts, and you may find some will come in handy as the plot develops!
But before we get to the rewards the Amyrlin Seat has decided the following characters are now npcs:
Bredan Avari or 'Sil' (Crystal Tears, by request)
You guys can reclaim your characters by posting as them, otherwise anyone is free to post as these characters if you want.
The Amyrlin Seat also wishes a welcome to the new players:
Saril (Chobichibi)
Reens (Crazy Elf Boy)
Welcome to the White Tower and may you find what you seek (unless escape is what you seek XD)
Now to the fun stuff. First the Accepted will step forward.
Wynth de Luun: Posted twice, taught a class creatively, recruited a new player and guided interaction with said player to help get her started. As a reward for her responsibility in guiding new novices and teaching current ones, Wynth has been granted a Day Pass, allowing one short trip into the city of Tar Valon, to run errands for an Aes Sedai but also to purchase things for herself if she should wish. (One free trip to explore the city off the Tower grounds, must be back in the tower inside 2 consecutive posts). Having managed to convince Saril that she now must begin her new life as a Novice in the Tower, Wynth has unconsiously discovered the weave Lesser Coersion. This weave is a forbidden weave by the Tower, as it is rather close to the banned and distasteful weave of Compulsion. The weave will allow Wynth to guide the attitude of another to see her side of things, and can sometimes sway a persons decisions to reflect Wynth's wishes, as long as such decisions are something that is possible and does not contradict what that person has the potential of doing. (If its a choice that the person may find themselves doing if the situation is right, but never something the person has no chance of ever doing on their own aka she cannot coerce a compassionate person to eat their favorite pet, or a loving mother to kill her child etc The seed must already be there).
Esyllt Teardhrin: Posted once, good character interaction and showing her own personality and her friendship with a novice. Due to your affinity with the Green ajah and your reputation for being well behaved and adherent to the rules, you have been granted permission to speak to Warder Apprentices so long as their studies are not interfered with and there is a full Aes Sedai present and watching.
Now, the Novices may step forward.
Elya Daneiri: Posted twice, gave Nayia's char an opening to be involved with the other player characters, involved more characters and helped create an interesting twist, keeping things interesting with her attitude. Due to the amount of time doing mundane chores, Elya had a lot of time to think about how she got caught, and in doing so has perfected the Improved Whisper Weave, making the weaves tighter and therefore less noticeable, but it is not invisible as an inverted weave would be. The side effect is it makes her voice sound higher, as though breathing helium, due to the tightening and shrinking of the threads. She also has discovered a very interesting weave which can be tied off, but wears off in a few hours, Gleam. With this she can make any flat, non-living surface reflect light better, making it shine as though it had been waxed, and can even use the ambient light to make said surface glow, but this reduces the lasting time signifigantly. It can be detected as a weave if one thought to check but its wonderful for buying time.
Ren Da'shain {{If anyone wants to do her since shes my character please do, I want to keep it fair XD}}
Saril Posted twice, gave a very interesting entrance to the tower which spawned a good amount of interaction, introed personality and history well. Being homesick away from the ocean, Saril learns a simple weave called Ocean of Air. This weave is specifically designed to simply reproduce a familiar sound to the weaver, in this case the sound of the ocean lapping against a ship. The sound must be one the weaver knows well, and it can be maintained as long as the weavers concentration lasts, or a half hour tied off. With her newfound limitations, being away from the ocean which she grew up with, she has learned to use the moisture from the air to aid in her water-weaving. Note: can only be used in a damp environment or outside with a good amount of cloud cover.
The Apprentice Warders step forward.
Tahl'Atri: No new posts. Post again within this coming week to avoid NPC status next Sat.
Vitch Nyora: Posted twice, involved multiple characters and an npc, created opening for possible novice/apprentice friendship, used comedy well. With the desire to take a break from fighting, Vitch has gained a keen observance for things he can use to distract his opponent, taking the opportunity to change his position while they are unaware, thereby mastering the form The Firefly Dances at Night (although not using it as it was designed in this instance xD). As punishment for wandering away from the training field, Vitch also must serve time with Wynth during one of her novice classes, and therefore is allowed/forced to (however you choose to see it XD) be present in her novice class for a max of two consecutive posts.
Reens Aden: Posted twice, introed his character well, nice battle scene and involved a character and an npc, tagging a roleplayer twice. After sneaking across the courtyard to hide and watch Vitch and Ren, Reens realises he has a talent for The Leopard in High Grass, To be used when surrounded by opponents, both hands are on the sword's hilt, and one's steps are slow and measured. The eyes should be constantly moving amongst your opponents to watch for the first threat. One's movements should be in relaxed but ready anticipation, as if stalking prey and looking for the first opening to pounce. (source, grey-tower.net). Learning from his mistake in getting surprised by Eldar, Reens works out a form he would never dare to try out on his teacher, but would be useful in battle. Lightning Strikes the Treeroots is a move perfect if surprised from behind, a quick turn around to one knee, simultaneously blocking upward with your sword any strike that may be coming, then slashing across to hamstring the attackers legs.
And finally, even a Aes Sedai must step forward.
Antara Chimera: No new posts. Post again within this coming week to avoid NPC status next Saturday.
Thats all for this week, if you have any questions just ask.
Welcome again to the new people and remember, recruiting new members to the RPG will give you a bonus to the number or strength of your new powers! To receive this benefit, new recruits must have posted twice following signing up, otherwise recruiters will need to wait until their recruits do so before receiving their reward. New recruits may receive powers starting the week they sign up provided they have posted at least once in the rpg.
The Amyrlin Seat will return next week! Until then, happy posting!
I got Ren's spell again. I thought you would've included it as I told you on MSN.
Wooden Shield: Ren can summon a wooden shield, it can deflect or block minor offensive spells. Stronger spells can easily overcome it.
Originally I had it as an actual shield, but you mentioned something online about it being not-so-physical? You can expand on it, I don't remember exactly what you said. Alas it's not very strong, but it can deflect that stray fireball on occasion! XD
Blah, I just thought of something. Was Wynth allowed to speak with Sil to get him to follow Saril and herself? You know, with the know talking to the warder rule. Or is there an acception at that time since she is teaching Saril?
Crystal Tears
I assumed there was an exception as long as she's teaching. As, she would have a difficult time teaching without a some sort of male figure around anyway. If she were just to mosey on up to one and chat away, that could definitely cause some problems (not that Wynth of all people would do that, with the hating of men and all), but with teaching the new novice I didn't think there would be a problem.
Asi read my post before I posted it (I was afraid of getting something wrong, actually I think it was because I included Sil I was worried) and she didn't comment on it.
I really need her to overcome that block. XD Then all the men can go back to training and she can be happy with absolutely none around her.
Tehehe, I'm going to have a lot of fun with that spell of mine. >w>
Point of interest, I was doing some reading and remembered/confirmed that pretty much with the exception of the rare instance of the Amyrlin herself declaring a punishment all punishments in the tower go through the Mistress of Novices. In other words, for future reference when a girl gets in trouble she'd be sent to the Mistress of Novices to receive her punishment rather than being issued it by whomever caught them (though Aes Sedai can issue commands to novices/accepted and require them to take private tutoring with them).
“So, now you owe me. Bad thing that is. Mistress asked me to have a couple of ya wash the floors of all the non-restricted sections of the tower. You can all thank Elya, she'll volunteered to do it all by herself.”
She had already said in her post the punishment came straight from the Mistress of novices, and she was within her right to pick someone for it. As for the windows and the threat of the garden weeding, Elya, assuming she knew this tower rule (which she may, being miscevious and trying to find loopholes and all that) could choose to not do that part of it and not suffer any penalty. But the floors had already come from the Mistress through Wynth.
However we dont need to be so uptight anyway, Im not going for canon, as long as things dont go totally ridiculously out of control.
The two are a bit different because of what rewards you will get for posting and such, an apprentice will learn forms and get punishments/favors while a full warder will most likely get information and orders from his aes sedai, which you can make up a sheet for or I could assign you one ^-^ Either way is up to you, and as an apprentice you can be any age so you can be a man with battle exp and plate mail, its fine. Welcome!! ^v^
Weasel Overlord
Name: Aethar Rendhrian Kallessan
Age: 32
Gender: Male
Rank: Apprentice Warder
Appearance: Aethar has a very obvious nose – it slopes down his face and gives him an almost noble cast to his features, if you're being kind. If not, you might say that it somewhat resembles the horses for which his people are famous for, but you would be wise not to say that within his hearing. His hair is long and black, it reaches to somewhere down the middle of his back, and it's perfectly straight, not that you'd know, because he keeps it tied back neatly in a long tail tied with leather. He shuns the typical moustache of other Saldaean soldiers, but he is rather haphazard with his shaving, so more often than not he will have stubble everywhere.
His eyes are grey, almond-shaped and they tilt upwards at the corners. They are crinkled almost permanently as Aethar is easy with his smile, which reaches all the way to his eyes.
He's about 6' tall, give or take two inches, and he wears sturdy brown boots that come halfway up his calves. His trousers are linen and grey, as is his tunic, and they're trimmed with the pale green of his coat of arms. Over the top, he wears light plate armour of tempered steel (if this is alright, Asi) tinted green and polished til it shines. Basically, this is full plate mail (greaves over his boots, ring-mail, cuirass, cuisses, vambraces and helmet). When wearing it, he is as dexterous as when he's not, and he can vault into the saddle with surprising grace and ease. He takes extremely good care of his armour, and is careful to get even the smallest dent hammered out quickly.
Over the top of his armour he wears a green-grey cloak in hardy material. It is buckled to each shoulder with a pair of sturdy black emblems depicting his family's rearing horse, each with a single tiny emerald for an eye.
He carries a kite shield emblazoned with his coat of arms; a rearing horse in green on a charcoal grey field, and he is expertly trained with the serpentine swords of the Saldaean cavalry, as well as the shortbow, with which he can take out a target at thirty metres while mounted. The bow isn't his preferred weapon, though – he favours the sword over all, including the small knife that he carries sheathed on his right, above the sheath of his serpent sword.
Aethar is left-handed; he wears his shield on the right arm and wields his sword with the left.
Personality: Aethar is quick to smile, quick to laugh and even quicker to temper. He is a man of deep passions, and you are as likely to hear his booming, infectious laugh as you are his even louder shout. He is outspoken to a fault, constantly dancing on the edge of propriety and politeness, but he is never rude and he will never insult a lady.
He is at home in barracks and has the handy ability to endear himself to most men. He can also hold his drink like a champion, and has won many a bet as a result. Aethar will not brook what he calls 'political nonsense' and stoutly does not get involved in those affairs.
He loves horses fiercely, and is never more at home than when he is in the saddle. When Aethar talks to his horses, his voice drops to a soothing, melodious coo as he adopts the special language of the Saldeaen horselords. He can gentle many a wild steed with this voice, and where it is less than effective, he employs his hands and his dexterous fingers in combination to great effect.
Unlike many men his age, Aethar is not prone to visiting brothels. In fact, he has not known a woman for some nine years now, and it has been said that he has forgotten how. Aethar will not divulge the reason for his celibacy, nor will he say whether it is self-enforced or due to some other ailment. If he is pressed on the subject, he will first try to turn the topic to lighter things, and if this does not work, his temper will flare and whoever thought it wise to test him will quickly realise that this was a bad idea.
History: Aethar was brought up in the typical fashion of Saldaea – as close to horses as to his family. He was near born in the saddle, and he's been riding since he was old enough to hold himself upright. Aethar always had a fascination with weaponry, and it took a fine procession of warriors to turn his mind to what he saw himself doing. He was seven when, filled with the glories of war and a fine bloodlust that he decided to become a Warder. He trained without much to note, determinedly improving his skills with the serpentine sword until he felt his skills were good enough for the White Tower. However, he holds himself to quite a high standard, and as such it was a very long time before he felt he was good enough to pass the feared test to become Apprentice. The reality of this test, however, was rather laughable. Aethar was twenty-seven when he approached the Tower, and he bested the Warder he was set against with ease. He has been at the Tower for five years, but as of yet he will not Bond with anyone for, once again, he does not hold himself to be good enough.
More recently, he had to take Dhriedh (his horse) to be reshod, which is the reason he has been away from the Tower for two days. His return will be his entrance into the RPG.
Relationships: His relationship with his horse, Dhriedh, is the most important one to Aethar. Dhriedh is similar in appearance to the Arabian horse that we know – he is a spirited chestnut stallion with silver-grey mane and tail. He has the intelligence of a good warhorse and the strength of a heavy breed that makes his hooves deadly in battle. When Aethar rides Dhriedh into battle he is fully-clad in his plate-mail and so a saddle is essential, but any other time he rides bareback.
Other: His serpent sword is of waved steel. It technically counts as a longsword for the length, and is edged on both sides. The hilt is something between the basket of a rapier and a crosshilt, with a handguard of woven metal and a half-crosshilt on the right side. The right edge of the blade is green-tinted, like Aethar's plate, and light hits the metal strangely, which is probably intentional.
He will always keep his steel sheathed unless he means to shed blood, as is the Saldaean way, and he has a terrible habit of rasping at his stubble with his thumbnail.
A note on pronunciation: the 'dh' is sounded as a softer 'th', as in 'thin', but with less emphasis. As the 'dh' is sounded in Sindarin Elvish.
EDIT: I forgot! Anyone who wants to you know, relationship it up with Aethar, please to be being my guest. Only no romance, plx. <3
Looks good! But one thing, you wouldnt have that cloak until after youve been bonded, it was woven using the Power and only those who have been bonded to an Aes Sedai are allowed to own one. Yours can be a normal gray/green cloak for now though, and you can always get one during the course of the rpg. Otherwise plate is perfectly fine ^-^ every warder apprentice comes with their own weapons and armor (if they own any) and if not they are provided with a sword and light leather armor. I added you to the list! ^-^
Posting on behalf of Asi.
Due to matters such as work and the like, Asi has been running ragged this week and as a result, will be late with the grading and the rewards. Please wait patiently, as she is now taking a long, well deserved rest.
Hey, some of you here may remember me. It's been a while. Suffice to say I left Pokemasters a few years ago, returned by instinct, and was enticed by this particular RPG. As a result, I've crafted a character to join the ranks of the White Tower.
Name: Godia. She has a given surname, but she seems to harbor some fear of using it, so to most tower inhabitants, she is "just Godia."
Age: She believes she has seen twenty winters or more, but she does not seem to celebrate her birthdays, so her exact age is unknown.
Gender: Female.
Rank: Novice. Some say she has the talents of an Accepted, while others disregard her as someone not cut-out to be saidar. It is possible she allows others to underestimate her and some have observed that she attaches a certain fear to calling on the One Power.
Appearance: Godia is a woman of no real attractiveness. Her complexion is a ruddy sienna hue, which could be the mark of her ancestry or simply the effect of long hours in the sun. Her face is hard-set, with beady brown, almost black, eyes, and stout, taut features; her wide chin, broad, wrinkled brow, and narrow lips sometimes make it difficult for others to determine her gender. Her hair is a pale, almost soiled color, straw-like, falling to her midback; it is half-braided and stringy, as she has a habit of carefully weaving it into complex patterns only to undo them. She has wide shoulders, an ample bosom, and a somewhat stocky build, heavy, and around five and a half feet tall. To the unkind, she has been called both a "bull" and a "toad."
Much like the other women, Godia wears "gowns" or "robes" of a sort, though they are unflattering to her figure. Because of her habits and her lengthy tenure at the White Tower (and subject to Asilynne's approval), she has been allowed a certain amount of leeway from her novice white. She has no preference for color and decoration, though she most often chooses muted grays or dark hues that easily conceal stains, such as navy blue or deep violet. Instead of dresses, these gowns have more of the appearance of a shift or a very long blouse. She does not afford these garments any adornments, and rather than the comfortable shoes of most of the Power, she prefers leather boots. Her only excess is a small ivory brooch, missing its gemstone and yellowed with age. In the socket, a small inscription is carved which has faded with age, though one of the five words is "mercy."
Contrary to what Godia's manners and features would suggest, her garments are always, always, tidy and exceedingly clean; Godia quickly disposes of clothes which she cannot wash, and treats stains as an alarming and immediate emergency. She avoids eating certain foods, drinking certain beverages, and engaging in certain activities just to prevent her robes from being soiled. Ironically, because they are so clean, her clothes are often also quite worn from the act of washing itself, and the darker colors she wears are almost always somewhat faded.
Personality: Godia is a woman of quiet solitude, who seems at once angry and cowardly, and who avoids her peers as much as she can; often other novices, seeing her age and assuming it to indicate experience, come to her for advice or encouragement, but she turns most of them away with a few rough words. It is not that she is rude, merely that she does not understand how to politely decline. She does not believe herself to deserve this kind of attention. To those that know her, Godia is a brooding presence, one that never goes completely unnoticed; there is something about her appearance that irritates even the most compassionate onlookers, and often even the kindest individuals revile her, though they never know the exact reason themselves. Whatever it is it seems to be something besides her ugliness, her lack of social graces, and her unflattering habits, some unidentifiable wrongness that surrounds her. In her experience, it often takes little more than her mere presence near the more impatient of the Aes Sedai to lead to her punishment.
To the inhabitants of the White Tower, Godia is a woman that can never stand just right, walk just right, talk just right, or act just right. Her manner is always just somewhat off-kilter, and she often says things to her peers that others would dare not. These observations are not intended to offend in the way that they so often do; she just does not know better. At times she displays a piercing insight, and as a result has often been punished for "talking back" when this was never her intention.
To the few that get to know her, Godia is a gentle soul and surprisingly intelligent; though she may not know what to say, or when to say it, she is a great listener and a steadfast friend, reliable, and always available. She is a person without prejudice and thus comforting to others who find themselves surrounded by adversity. She is not necessarily kind, but almost always, she makes small gifts of things she makes or finds, believing always that she is not allowed to keep them. Though many have tried in the past to refuse, they have found that doing so makes Godia extremely uncomfortable, and she would rather break a piece of jewelry or tear fine silks than keep them to herself.
Around authority, Godia acts in a completely different manner. She engages in making herself as small as possible, obeys all orders without question, and apologizes profusely for her failures. Some cruel or just accidentally vindictive Accepted can use this to their advantage, as to her, even their rank is sufficient to receive her complete subservience. Many have found Godia to go to great lengths to please her superiors, and if her elders are not careful, they often end up sending her to do backbreaking labor, as she obeys all commands to the letter, even if the one who gave them did not intend them to be so harsh.
Though all of these traits may make Godia seem like a bundle of nerves, when she is away from her fears and her obsessive tendencies are let alone (see "Other"), she is often quite relaxed and even lazy, spending countless hours doing little more than staring into space until someone expects something of her. Some individuals refer to her as being "pigeon-brained" for this very reason.
History: Most of what is known of Godia is based more in rumor than actual fact. It is said that the Aes Sedai are aware of more exact circumstances regarding her past, but because she does not willingly share these with her peers, much is left to speculation and doubt. Among these rumors, there are a few things that are certain. First, her life has been traumatic and hard on her. Second, she is much older than most novices, and has been a novice for longer than most on record. Third, she definitely has some history with Mistress Mirajane and two other Aes Sedai, the Red Ajah Tielanthi and the Instructor Amanesne. Becomes Amanesne spends such an inordinate time teaching "special cases," some have come to regard her as Godia's personal mentor (NPC blocks to come later). Beyond this, her exact history with these three sisters is unknown.
To date, three stories exist about her past. The most widely believed version is that Godia was born and raised in Altara, orphaned after her widowed father was killed in a duel and made to act as a maid in several noble houses. Most who know her suspect that she may have been abused and even cruelly punished during her time as an indentured servant, and that this may have something to do with her behavior. However, it is also said that these punishments were warranted as a result of her obstinate stupidity. For whatever reason, she initially went unnoticed by the Aes Sedai, but was later discovered by a one of the gray Kath, perhaps even Mistress Mirajane, while living in the capital of Ebou Dar. She was supposedly pried from her master for a handful of silvers and then taken directly to the tower, which she knew little of prior. She seems to have no motivation for attending the Tower, but if it was not her own choice, then she does not show this. In fact, she seems curiously attached to its grounds, and whittles away most of her time walking through the ample courtyard. Anyone hearing this story will note a few inconsistencies. First, Godia seem herself to know little of Altaran culture; second, her skin seems oddly dark for someone from Ebou Dar.
A second tale tells that she is a cripple of the Shienar, relegated to a lower caste because of her inability to participate in war. Her mother and father were lost to the blight and she was raised by her cruel uncle, a man renowned among the Shienar as a daring but bloodthirsty warrior. He treated her poorly and thus led her to mistrust others. The White Tower discovered her at a somewhat younger age in this version and her uncle gladly gave her up.
The last version states that Godia is in fact one of the Tairens, this based largely on her skin tone and eye color, her amusement of throwing stones into water, and her love of fresh fish. She was supposedly raised as the daughter of a fisherman living in the slums, with innumerable brothers and sisters. She was saved from this life of poverty and monotony by one of the Aes Sedai, even if her command over the Power could be regarded as somewhat weak. However, this fails to explain her aversion to dirt, which seems odd for someone raised in such muddy streets.
It is possible that one of these stories is true, or that none of them are, and in fact her real history may be some combination of all three. However, only the Aes Sedai are said to know for sure. This alone makes some wonder if her real past is a much darker story indeed.
Potential Ajah: Unknown. Godia does not seem to believe she will ever become a full-fledged Aes Sedai (and she isn't the only one), regardless of what her instructors may wish for her, and is in fact afraid of this reality. Furthermore, her "talents," or lack thereof, do not seem to align with any of the available choices.
Relationships: Most individuals within the White Tower ignore her, especially the men, but a few of the sisters know her by name. Godia avoids Mirajane at all costs, as for some reason, she is always able to stretch the Mistress of Novices to the full limit of her patience and has been punished numerous times for things others would view as inconsequential. Oftentimes, these punishments are cruel or unusual, as Godia seems to enjoy, or at least is very comfortable with, the cleaning tasks of most novices. In fact, some use this to their advantage by getting her to do theirs. Other full sisters have heard Mirajane profess that there is "something about that girl" with a very negative connotation.
Instructor Amanesne (to be posted soon) is often regarded by other full sisters as Godia's personal tutor, as she spends an inordinate amount of time trying to get her to grasp her lessons. Perhaps this is due to some personal failure on her part, as her interactions with the older novice are a mixture of patient kindness and silent exasperation. Sometimes she snaps at Godia, but not in any comical sense, as in these times she seems serious, cold, and even threatening towards her charge. Amanesne has taken some heat from other Aes Sedai for her tireless support of Godia, despite her failings as a novice, and this may have something to do with her fleeting emotions.
The Red Ajah Tielanthi (also to be added) is an inconstant presence in the White Tower at best, as is expected with her duties. Tielanthi is normally a woman of some personal presence and though she speaks few words, she is noticed when she enters a room. She seems to regard Godia with a distant but critical eye and on occasion, has been speaking to her in near-whisper. Once or twice, the woman has even given Godia gifts from her travels. No one would dare give Tielanthi any lip about this relationship, if it could even be called that, though there is some talk as to what it all might mean.
Other: Godia is deathly afraid of small spaces and equally so of horses. These are not in the way of some other irrational phobias, as even the threat of these things is enough to send her into hysterics and blubbering tears. Once a few years ago, she was taunted by an Apprentice Warder wearing a horse-hair helmet, and accidentally broke her ankle when she decided to plunge over the side of a banister rather than stand in such close proximity to her fear.
Godia is also obsessed with personal hygiene and will go so far as to incite fights with those that try to prevent her from carrying out her little rituals. She is not a warrior, but she throws her bulky frame around quite carelessly, and has injured several of the younger novices in the past. This obsessive urge does not extend beyond her own personal possessions and she never comments on the cleanliness of others, or of the things around her. She is particularly fixated on keeping her face scrubbed clean, so to others it often looks red and raw. The source of this obsession does not appear to have anything to do with vanity or fear of disease and is definitely intensified when she is in the presence of her superiors, though this may just be her general nervousness around them.
Because Godia lives in a separate area of the White Tower, away from the Novice quarters, and does not wear the customary white, others of her rank have occasionally mistaken her for Accepted (again, subject to Asilynne's approval).
I have plans to post in the very near future once this is approved, probably within a day or two. But I would like to post two NPC characters, Instructor Amanesne and the Red Ajah Tielanthi, first. Also, please tell me if this color is hard for anyone to read; I just figured this topic of lovely pastel colors needed an injection of brown.
Nice profile Plantae! Im very intrigued and curious about this char, its of course approved ;D
And since the aes sedai may look at her as someone who will never even achieve accepted, yet with nowhere for her to go should they put her out of the tower, they may give her the clothing leeway, if only to let them save face in front of any visitors who may wonder at the strange novice. You can post the npcs and begin posting anytime (I should have said this earlier x.x!)
Barring any craziness preventing me from doing so Ill be grading tomorrow ^.^
She comes, she comes...
The Watcher of the Seals. The Flame of Tar Valon.
The Amyrlin Seat...
Its time to distribute Weaves and Forms! What weave/form and how powerful it is will depend on many factors, how often you posted, the character development/interaction in your posts, and plot value to name a few. You can also consider this a roll call, post here in any manner you wish so I know you have seen your new power. Any powers you receive every week can be used in your posts, and you may find some will come in handy as the plot develops!
But before we get to the rewards the Amyrlin Seat has decided the following characters are now npcs:
Tahl'Atri (Outlaw JT)
Antara Chimera (Dominus)
You guys can reclaim your characters by posting as them, otherwise anyone is free to post as these characters if you want.
The Amyrlin Seat also wishes a welcome to the new players:
Aethar Rendhrian Kallessan
(Weasel Overlord)
Godia (Plantae)
Welcome to the White Tower and may you find what you seek!
Now to the fun stuff. First the Accepted will step forward.
Wynth de Luun: Posted twice, taught a class creatively once again, included many player characters in her post and had character interaction with a new player character. While on your day pass a small child mistakes you for an Aes Sedai and gives you a Medallion on a leather string. You suspect that it may have magical properties, and you may roleplay this scene however you wish. You may also try to assess the item as you wish, in which case how you go about it will decide if you are successful ;D (Details to come at the end of this post). You also (by the end of the current RPG day) will have learned and mastered 10 of the weaves for the Test for the Shawl from a Red sister who favors you. This test is the test accepted must take to become Aes Sedai. There are 100 weaves in all. These Weaves are largely useless in practical use, but are necissary to pass the test, and one must be able to do each weave flawlessly one after another during all manner or pain or distractions in order to pass.
Esyllt Teardhrin: Posted once, Included NPCs in post, left it open for any warders to interact with her. Li'Lendra-Sedai begins to instruct you in the first 5 weaves of the 100 Weave Test for the Shawl, priming you for the test and your inevitable ascension to the Green Ajah. Keep posting to earn more weaves for this test and see Wynth's grade for details!
Now, the Novices may step forward.
Elya Daneiri: No New Posts. Post before next grading to avoid becoming an NPC.
Ren Da'shain {{If anyone wants to do her since shes my character please do, I want to keep it fair XD}}
Saril Posted once, very good character interaction and development of her personality and desires to escape and yet to excel. You begin to notice Ren's hesitation to being at the tower is stronger, and you have caught Talia Arien watching you closely and following you at times. You have also learned the Conversation Ward which puts up a shield of the One Power around you and who you are talking to to prevent eavesdropping, whether mundanely listening in or with the Power, out of the desire to keep your plans from becoming widely heard.
The Apprentice Warders step forward.
Vitch Nyora: Posted once, included many other player characters, introed a reoccuring joke for his character. After hearing of his 'deeds' in class, the story has gone round the Apprentices quarters that Vitch is a ladies man (lover not a fighter) and he has also earned the title of Desk Killer by his peers. Vitch has also learned Improv, which allows him to use anything in his surroundings as a weapon in a pinch, but only if he has been disarmed and is desperate.
Reens Aden: No new posts, post before next grading to avoid becoming an NPC.
Aethar Rendhrian Kallessan: Posted once, good intro post, showed characters personality and affection/devotion to his mount, told well why the character is newly arriving and left it open for interaction. After reporting to a full warder that you have returned, you are given leeway to accompany Wynth on her day pass if you so wish (and if she will let you XD). You also have a tight Bond with your mount, it following your commands instantly as a true war horse would. (Since it was just an intro post I cant give you much in the way of powers this time around that would make sense at this time, keep posting and next grading I should have something more for you ^-^)
Thats all for this week, if you have any questions just ask.
Welcome again to the new people and remember, recruiting new members to the RPG will give you a bonus to the number or strength of your new powers! To receive this benefit, new recruits must have posted twice following signing up, otherwise recruiters will need to wait until their recruits do so before receiving their reward. New recruits may receive powers starting the week they sign up provided they have posted at least once in the rpg.
For the 100 Weaves: The way these work is, regular posting wins you a chance to learn some of these weaves at random, and an rp post with you training or attending an Aes Sedai class, or a private tutor with an Aes Sedai of your potential Ajah will guaruntee you will earn weaves for the test. Once you reach 100 weaves mastered, you may be eligible to take the Test for the Shawl, providing all criteria are met (tba when someone gets close). More details about the test will come later (once I ask a few questions to see what Im able to do ;D)
For Assessing Magical Items: You may come across magical items during your roleplaying. If you know the item is magical (you will only KNOW it is if it is a grading reward) then you will post here roleplaying what you want to do to assess this item. This may include touching it with a thread of one of the five flows, Delving it, or researching any symbols that may be on it in the Tower Library. You may also ask a sister, however, this may result in you losing the item as Aes Sedai have a tendancy to want to keep any they find away from novice and accepted hands. So if you go that route youd probably have to be sly and sneaky to get info without giving any (in essence, being just like an Aes Sedai XD). I will post a roleplay back to you in this topic giving you the result of your actions and any info or choice of what to do next (if applicable). Keep in mind anything you try may burn you out (prevent you from using the power) for a week, or longer; kill you, or even detroy that which you are trying to assess so be careful. Once the assessment in this topic is over, you may post in the actual rpg your roleplay of what happened and what youve learned, along with what you plan to do about it. Havent gotten an item as a reward yet? If you want to find one, roleplay you finding something, make sure it makes sense and isnt just out of thin air, and based on the quality of your roleplay and your assessments, I will decide what you have found, so this is the only other way to receive a magical item. Good luck and keep your eyes open!
The Amyrlin Seat will return next week! Until then, happy posting!
Yet another half-mad character. This wasn't exactly where I thought I was going with Tielanthi, but she'll do as an NPC. One more today, and a post by tomorrow, probably from all three perspectives.
Name: Tielanthi Alaka.
Age: Somewhere in her late thirties.
Gender: Female.
Rank: Aes Sedai
Appearance: As an Aes Sedai of the Red Ajah, Tielanthi has a reputation for being an intimidating figure, and her appearance lends some credence to this theory. It is widely spoken, that with her broad shoulders, leanly muscled build, and tall stature, standing nearly six feet tall and weighing over two hundred pounds, that Tielanthi would have made a better Warder than an Aes Sedai, had she been male. Her complexion, a russet tan, and her wild eyes, silver with a golden ring at the center, only serve to confirm this idea. Many are so distracted by her goliath form that they fail to notice one incongruous feature: Tielanthi is in fact quite beautiful, though not of the practiced, wispy, willowy kind so common to urban women. Her hair is untamed, a silky, but tassled mess of soot black waves, and she has a countenance that would be more easily describe as handsome, broad and shapely, but not in a masculine way. Her beauty is of rugged wilderness, of a mustang that dares anyone attempt to tame it, of the thunderstorm and the grassy plain.
Though she may dress in formal scarlet robes within the tower, their edges embroided and silver and their sleeves and bodice made of scattered frills, Tielanthi generally wears the clothing of men as a matter of pure practicality. Contrary to popular belief, it is not her preferred dress, but merely the most convenient wardrobe to don whilst traveling cross-country on horseback for months at a time. It is the stark masculinity of her dress that often disgusts other Aes Sedai, as her mahogany brown, leather trousers, crimson and white tunic, broad, hard-toed boots, and dark brown belt bristling with utility pouches and knives, could not be called even passingly feminine. Neither is the curved scimitar that hangs from it, its hilt made of ebony and its blade forged in twisted watered steel, a gift from a foreign ruler after her capture of a particularly troublesome male channeler. The only jewelry she wears is a single, weathered ivory bracelet, unetched and unadorned.
Personality: Tielanthi is regarded by many as an enigmatic figure and many incorrect pronouncements have been made about her demeanor. As a favored Aes Sedai, she has been called "arrogant" and "haughty," as a mysterious, unorthodox wanderer she has been called "brash" and "foolish," and as a woman with a shaded and sometimes unclear past, a "monster," "a coward," and a "pitiful wretch."
Of her true character, all of these things are true, and none of them are. Tielanthi is a woman of essential contradictions, of hot anger and serene wisdom, of motherly tenderness and fatherly impatience, of glowering elation and listless tragedy. She is as unpredictable as the sea, with capricious, swinging moods, and a way of communicating more by movement than by sound. Her eyes flash at indignity, and boil in her rages; her frame trembles with happiness in a rainstorm and her features curl in curiosity. She is wide-eyed and narrow-minded, with the stubbornness of a mule and the sudden mutability of a river.
Consistently, Tielanthi could only be called cold; she treats others with frank indifference and only seems to court suggestions that come from on high. She is unbending and unbreakable, uninterested, and unfathomable. She speaks little of herself and does not tolerate others to speak at length; though she maintains a mask of civility, it is only for the benefit of convenience, and she dismisses it in an instant if the occassion suits her. But despite these manners of speech, kindness infiltrates her actions, and while her close-lipped frown suggests her anger, her hands work at helping where they can. She is unique in her treatment of novices, who she dismisses gently, and almost piteously, as if their very situation was one, to her, that deserves great sympathy. She will go out of the way to do some small favor, but will refuse to take credit if asked, and the benefactor will often find themselves angered by her refusal of any "thank you," as their graciousness is to Tielanthi what a fly is to an animal baking in the sun. She does her duty. She continues on.
History: Little is known of Tielanthi in the days before her apprenticeship in the White Tower. It is believed that she was raised among the Shienar, as it was from them that she was eventually plucked by the Aes Sedai. Some say that she was once destined to be a warrior and a rare female chieftain, but that the machinations of a rival and her own early mastery of the One Power ended this future glory. Some say she resents the Aes Sedai for this, or for another reason, but by all accounts she was brought to the White Tower only after a long struggle and numerous attempts at escape; some of the older Warders recall with embarrassment the defeat of several escorts at her hands.
As she was with many things, including horseback riding and swordsmanship, Tielanthi was a natural at weaving. She quickly surpassed her peers. Her quick completion of the Test of the Shawl was by no means a prodigal feat, but it was enough to attract her some attention.
Of course, so was her unruly behavior. As could be expected from a woman of her origins, she was better friends with the apprentice warders than with her own lot and she spent time that she should have been preparing for her duties in sparring matches with the men. As the years wore on and her mastery of the One Power grew, her swordsmanship suffered, and though she was never quite as good as most of the men, she still maintained the usefulness of a weapon over the One Power in a pinch.
In her youth, Tielanthi was as free as the skies and the wind, an optimist, and a model Aes Sedai of her Ajah. But as the reality of her position began to set in, her outlook quickly changed. She began to entertain opinions of extremism, and rather than make her devotion to her duty even stronger, some of her first experiences with "gentling" male channelers led her to question her own faith, wondering at the corruption of an entire gender, seemingly for nothing, and at her own capacity to do as she was told. These years of her young adulthood were the true formative years, when missions after mission saw her wear and almost snap under the weight of so many wicked necessities. For a few dark years, the only color that Tielanthi could see was blood.
After one particularly strenuous task, Tielanthi returned to the Tower in the throes of the storm of the century and under flickering lantern light, spoke with the Amyrlin Seat. A carriage waited in the darkness as the Red Ajah gestured with blood-tinged hands and tear-filled eyes. It was decided that for a time, she would be on leave; when she returned, she was herself, but not herself. A woman again with purpose, but with new doubts; a quieter, kinder soul, her brown furrowed as she watched over the instruction of novices and accepted, her gaze flitting across their faces, unmarred by the horrors of secret war. No one knew the reason, or what happened that fateful day. And time went on, and nothing seemed to change.
Relationships: Tielanthi treats all her peers with a measure of disdain and seeks to distance herself as much as possible from them. However, her glowering presence seems to have the greatest effect on Mistress Mirajane, who often goes out of the way to avoid the Red Ajah when she occasionally returns to the White Tower. Tielanthi is kindest to the youngest novices, and to Godia, who some believe she has a special connection to, though the exact reason for this is uncertain.
Ajah: Red
Other: Tielanthi has few quirks or habits, except to twirl her hair between her fingers every now and again and to finger her bracelet, as if seeking comfort from its smooth surface, etched not in reality, but in memory.
New and approved! ^___^
Name: Arren Leifon
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Rank: Apprentice Warder
Appearance: Arren stands at about 5’7. Despite his years as a blacksmith, he seems unable to develop much muscle and is more on the scrawny side of physique. He has a little muscle in his upper arms and legs but that’s all. He has the typical blonde hair and blue eyes of a Caemlynian and wears his hair as a sort of short, untidy mess on his head. It’s quite thick and, as he has been told several times, “so fluffy!” He has a roundish face and a strong jawline, and yet has a twinge of femininity in his features.
He prefers loose clothing to tight fitting ones but doesn’t wear any clothes that require any extra items to keep up (i.e. belts). He’s doesn’t like exposing too much of his skin so he never wears shorts. He does, however, favour sleeveless tops, apparently not minding if his arms are revealed. He is never caught bare-chested and insists on changing in private simply stating that he ‘feels awkward’ about people looking at his body.
Personality: Arren is a really friendly guy. He gets on well with both men and women and doesn’t have some of the nerves that guys his age might around them. He’s good at returning any flirting he receives (and he’s had a fair bit of practice) but he tends to back off if he feels a girl is getting too close to him – not just physically but emotionally as well. He’s reputed for being impossible to get (as opposed to just ‘hard’) and seems to have a ridiculously high level of self-control. However, the sight of too much exposed flesh makes him falter and he often makes excuses to escape. He’s been very popular with the ladies since he was about sixteen and tends to attract their attention without trying – something he’s never been able to understand.
He’s very determined, and not just on the battlefield. If there’s something he wants he’ll do whatever he has to to get it, even if that might mean he has to stretch a few rules to get there. He’s a fast thinker and tends to come up with ideas really quickly, making him dangerous and unpredictable in a combat situation. However, his ideas don’t always match up to reality and if he messes up he tends to mess up very badly. But he will always admit he was wrong and learn from his mistake. His determination is also one of his greatest flaws. He is overly hard on himself for the mistakes he makes and any lack of perfection. If he knows he is struggling, it pushes him to focus too intently – arguably too narrowly – on the scene at hand. Rarely this results in a moment of brilliance (aka success) but mostly it leaves him to suffer the consequences of something obvious that he should have seen. This imperfection in itself can sometimes create a spiral of error that can lead to him making a drastic do/die-type decision.
He has a strong sense of ‘chivalry’. He’s polite, considerate, the ‘opens doors for you’ kind of guy. The problem is that it leaves him open for being taken advantage of and he tends to suffer personally because he’s been asked to help another. He’s very protective of the people around him and will step in if he feels they’re in trouble.
History: Arren’s earliest memory is from when he was about five. He remembers the cold, the hunger, and loneliness. After that he remembers being with a man named Cairne. Cairne was a blacksmith in Caemlyn and Arren trained under him. He doesn’t remember how this arrangement was made, only that Cairne took it as an opportunity to raise Arren as the son he never had. During his life, Arren came into contact with many soldiers and he quickly began to dream of joining them. One day, he asked a soldier who had come in where he had trained and was told about the White Tower. It became his ambition; to go there and train as a soldier, to earn prestige and travel the world, seeing its many sights and vanquishing its many monsters.
Soldiers often brought in weapons they no longer wanted or needed and one day Arren found one that he knew he had to keep for himself. It was a short-sword with barely any weight to it. The blade was covered in engravings that he had no understanding of and the hilt curved around the blade, almost as if it was attempting to swallow it. He took the sword for himself and stayed up past closing repairing its blemishes and sharpening its edges, restoring it as close as possible to its former glory. He trained as much as he could during the night and his days off but without a teacher he developed very little. Taking advice from Cairne that “a man develops best when he’s forced to”; Arren took to the streets during the night and challenged the thieves and thugs. The nature of his enemies meant that he developed his speed and accuracy but gained no advantage in strength. He can generally hold his own against strong opponents but will lose if a contest comes down to brute strength.
He stayed with Cairne until he passed away from an illness (Arren was 18). The boy stayed in Caemlyn to secure funds for his travel to the White Tower. The process took longer than expected and accounts for his late arrival.
Potential Ajah: None
Relationships: None
Other: He’s probably going to have a few female NPCs who ‘stalk’ him because ‘he just has one of those faces’. Even though he’s finds it a little flattering he mostly wishes they would find something else to occupy themselves with.
Here's Fenix's profile. O:
Name: Fenix
Age: 32
Gender: Male
Rank: Ex-Warder
Appearance: Fenix is six foot even, with a slightly bulkier build then most warders that go for the lean appearance. He has black hair, that’s long enough to be ruffled but that’s it. His beard is mostly kept in line, only a few times has he let it grow out of control, which it was quickly shaved and trimmed by others who didn’t like it. Fenix has an intimidating appearance due to his get up. He wears a black tunic, with a heavy chainmail over top, that in turn, is covered by hardened-leather vest and bracers, the final layer being a plate of metal over his back, preventing backstabs, and a high, protective collar around his neck with a furr-lined hood attached to it. His arms have nasty looking gauntlets covering his hands and forearms. Lower body, he has black trousers with leather and again, mean looking pieces of arm on his shins and knees. His boots used to be brown, but due to his time wandering and adventuring, their stained black. While he would be intimidating if all this equipment was new and shiny, part of the fear-factor about Fenix is he’s ragtag and gritty. He looks as if he’s been in numerous wars, perhaps one right after another.
Oh, his eyes are auburn.
Personality: Blunt, would describe him well. While some may call Na’Wynth rude for what she says, she at least puts some thought into it. Fenix doesn’t have that sort of grace, he’s aggressive, and see’s the world in black and white. If grey is involved, he usually stays out of it. He also has a big weakness for coin, which was one of his downfalls as a warder. One could just simply pay him off, whether it was to ignore the blatantly gifted magical child, or not report a murder, if you had the coin, Fenix would turn a blind-eye. He has a dark, dirty sense of humour, and it can often put people off. He’s notorious for drinking and getting into brawls, and usually winning, which of course, adds the last wonderful trait to him: he’s confident, maybe even arrogant. Despite all of this, Fenix is charismatic, and can rally people behind him, because when he counts, he knows just want to say.
History: Fenix was a warder, but his attitude, drinking problem, and some other issues came in the way. He had been a warder for ten years before he left, or was exiled. No one is sure which, but in those six years, no one has seen him.
Relationships:
Other: He has numerous weapons, the most obvious is the greatsword strapped onto his back, and yet it’s not the most commonly used. Fenix has numerous axes, for throwing and close-combat, a glaive (spear-form), and a very nasty war-pick, which about as large as a dagger, and the handle is bent nearly 90 degrees. The war-pick is essentially an shortened, bloodied ice-pick, with barbs on it, for extra damage. All his weapons though, look worn, and old, like he picked them off people he’s killed, or simply happened across.
Well Asi finally pestered me enough. Here's my profile. :3
Name: Faellynn Ti’rareth
Age: ???
Gender: Female
Rank: Aes Sedai
Appearance: Rather diminutive in appearance at a remarkable 5’2” and slight frame, the Aes Sedai still gives off a rather formidable aura. She has wavy, waist-length hair of jet black that she often keeps pulled back into a high bun with only a few strands hanging loose. Her almond-shaped eyes are a misty gray-blue that can give off looks of caring and warmth, cool indifference, or piercing ferocity (A merchant of Cairhein was even once quoted as saying that “The Lady Faellynn’s eyes speak louder than her lips.”) In typical Cairheinin fashion, Faellynn wears modest, dark colored clothing. Generally wears a fitted, navy-blue blouse with a high collar and decorative straps down the arms, as well as a flowing black skirt and knee-high boots.
Personality: Like most Cairheinin, Faellynn is pretty reserved. She tends not to display a very broad range of emotion unless it is a particularly strong one and keeps herself on a fairly even keel. She prides herself on her ability to maintain perspective in many different situations, which makes her a great mediator. However, because of her desire to remain as neutral as possible, she tends to treat most people with a sort of cool indifference, making her seem a bit stand-offish at first. She is not, however, unfriendly and will always do her best to see that people are treated fairly. The only person she seems to openly show warmth to is her Warder, Orayn.
History: Born the daughter of a Cairhein noble, Faellynn displayed great Weaving ability at a young age and was quickly located and brought to the White Tower to join their ranks. While she was hesitant at first, she soon became more confident and threw herself into her studies full force, determined to become a wise and noble Ajah. While at the White Tower, she became close friends with two fellow Novices, Mirajane and A’lore, and the three of them became inseparable. As time went on and more secrets of the White Tower were opened up to her, the more Faellynn began to disagree with the way things were. Among other things, she was opposed to the way some Novices were brought to the Tower against their will, as she believed that any path in life should be made by choice. Once completing their training as full-fledged Aes Sedai, her friends Mirajane and A’lore took up positions within the White Tower (Mirajane eventually becoming the Mistress of Novices and A’lore the Keeper). Faellynn, now a Grey Aes Sedai, was offered a teaching job but declined, choosing instead to return home to Cairhein (along with her Warder, Orayn), where she took up a position as Councilor to the King, primarily serving the royal court but also opening her doors to anyone in need of council or mediation. She quickly became known as The Grey Lady of Cairhein and has been in that position ever since.
Ajah: Grey
Relationships: Faellynn has a close relationship with her Warder, Orayn. They are not married (yet), but they have developed a level of intimacy over the years that seems to transcend traditional definition. She remained friends with Mirajane and A’lore, though only communicated with them sporadically.
Other: Faellynn is a well renowned as a master of Illusion Weaving.
I'll probably do a profile later for Orayn, but he'll more than likely be an NPC.
Wynth has chosen to study the medallion closely. She is studying it purely on a physical level at the moment, with her eyes and hands. This is what she sees:
http://lh5.ggpht.com/_NgClXC3qHaA/STFOp2e4t1I/AAAAAAAAAQo/ElzdIWUQ_WU/Stephanie%20Pui-Mun%20Law-foxknot%5B2%5D.jpg
It's a very intricate pattern, and she hasn't seen it before as far as she knows, though she may have seen it in passing once in her life, or something similar. Perhaps the libraries in Cairhein may yield some answers? Though since it may be a rare treasure, best not let anyone see it, a certainly not an Aes Sedai....
