View Full Version : [GYM] Oslo vs Greyfox - Ref: DL-with new colors!

Greyfox
11th June 2010, 08:15 AM
Alright, Oslo, you know the drill.

3-on-3.
No DQ time (since we're all so busy).
You send out first.
I'll attack first.
And here (http://www.pokemasters.net/forums/showpost.php?p=437700&postcount=3)'s the arena.

Oslo
11th June 2010, 09:31 AM
Alright! :) I'll lead off with Dreidel, my Claydol. If we're playing with abilities, his is Levitate.

Greyfox

Oh, right, abilities. Yes, we're gonna use 'em.

I'm gonna use Treble Clef, my female clefable, to start things off! Treble, use Minimize to start, followed by Icy Wind! End with Shadow Ball. However, if he tries to hit you with a status ailment, block it with Magic Guard.

DarkestLight
12th June 2010, 10:42 AM
Grey. With Abilities-when allowed, they're always active, so you don't have to command your Pokemon to use it.

Greyfox
12th June 2010, 10:45 AM
Coat! Magic Coat. Whoops. D:

Oslo
12th June 2010, 10:48 AM
Ahaha, a second Clefable so soon after KoT's gave me grief in the tournament. ;) Eh, whatevs, I can deal. Also, your little Gym page mentions an auto-Safeguard, so I wouldn't be able to inflict a status on you even if I wanted to, right?

Dreidel, begin with Light Screen! Copy that Minimize using Psych Up and finish with Earthquake.

===Round 1===

Ahh, another Gym Battle to start with. I must really like this room, 'cause its so awesome to see yet another trainer try for a badge against Grey. Grey looks none too worried, as the white room seems easy enough to manage. Oslo releases his Psychic Dreidel, to combat the Treble Clef fluttering around over there.

Dreidel takes care of its home first, by erecting a nice sized screen around its general area. That'll deter that ...smaller..Clefable..from bothering it too much with tricksy attacks?

Dre: -4E ===///=== TC: -4E +Eva
LS: 3 rds

Unphazed Treble decides she should try an introductory hit. But wait, why was Dreidel copying her. Oh we're playing THAT game, monkey see monkey do? Fine. Dreidel floated around and seemed to get smaller in size, but the Icy Wind still plunked against his hide.

Dre: -5E/-4H +Eva===///=== TC: -4E

Seemingly equal in stature and speed, Dreidel felt pretty confident in regaining an upper hand in this match. Even as the purple ball was formed in Treble's hands. Dreidel didn't fret. His mass hit the ground and the room started to shake. The orbs in the ceiling seemed stable enough still, but Treble fell on her backside. She sat up and flung the orb, and it connected, to Dreidel's dismay.

Dre: -8E/-8H ===///=== TC: -8E/-12H

Both Pokemon righted themsleves...this was going to be an interesting few rounds.

===Round 2===

Dreidel smirks, thinking he has the upper hand since he can shake the world. But Treble has something up its pinkish sleeveless arm. The floating top Pokemon begins to spin around, forcing grit and sand to fly off of the walls and coalesce into a blinding Sandstorm. It nicks at Treble, but Treble doesn't fret about that. She seems to link with Dreidel, and Dreidel suddenly...drops to the ground. Floating up on a power new to her, Treble smirks.

Role playing is fun!

Dre: -4E ===///=== TC: -9E
Abilities swapped for 5 actions, SS: 3 rds

Whipping around in the Sandstorm, Treble looked around glee as Dreidel demanded its skill back, causing a tantrum induced Earthquake in the process. Treble laughed, and flew down. A strong Punch of an Icy grasp shut Dreidel down...for now.

Dre: -8E/-12H ===///=== TC: -6E

Dreidel raged on the ground, angry it was outsmarted so cunningly and so early. Treble went for a second swipe, but misjudged where Dreidel was. Trebel went flipping away, as Dreidel's Earthquake settled down.

Dre: -8E ===///=== TC: -6E

The Sandstorm continues...

===Round 3===

Both Pokemon seemed intent on hindering the other as they both released a horrid series of Flashes in this already white room. As a result, both Pokemon were rendered nearly blind by their respective choices.

Dre: -3E -Acc ===///=== TC: -3E -Acc

Dreidel huffed and puffed all round, and unleashed a battalion of energy in a Psychic force. Treble Clef was completely unaware of the attack as it sailed to her left, but she was too busy forcing the mildew that grew in between the crack of this room to rise up and latch around Dreidel.

The Grass Knot hit, and Dreidel squirmed in complete discomfort.

Dre: -8E/-13H ===///=== TC: -5E

The Sandstorm and the Flashes and the Minimizes were just too much. These next two attacks sailed past each other again. Treble tried to thump Dreidel with her rump, but missed and bounced along as a second Psychic missed its mark-mainly due to Dreidel beginning to rise up on its own, while Treble staying grounded. Role Play must've wore off.

===Round 4===

Whoo haa. The room is now a venomous green. As the two Pokemon note the new hue, Treble is quick to backflip and create a Substitute to deal with Dreidel. Dreidel didn't seem to notice, and created a Screen in order to defer any attacks. The rooms effect started, but Treble smiled. That no workee here...

Dre: -4E ===///=== TC: -7E/-12H Sub: 12
LS: 3 rds

Dreidel now attacked, trying to take Treble down with an Earthquake. The sub bounced around happily, but it was not fully destroyed. Treble smirked and countered with an Ice Punch that forced Dreidel to the ground. Yikes, Treble is out for blood!

Dre: -8E/-12H ===///=== TC: -6E Sub: 2
Venom: -1H both

Dreidel floats back up and shoots another energy bolt into the ground. The ground quakes again, causing shingles to fall from the ceiling. Treble avoids those, but the Substitute is not so lucky. As the Sub shatters, Treble dashes forth once more and smashes into nothing! Still cant effectively get a good bead on Dreidel.

===Round 5===

The poisonous room theme continues as Dreidel and Treble duke it out. Dreidel tries to spin around and cause another strange bout of Sandy goodness in here, but Treble decides to change it up. Unfortunatly, Treble's plan backfires, as she splits into 4 clones, only to have everything be eaten away by that blasted Sandstorm.

Dre: -4E ===///=== TC: -3E
SS: 3 rds
Venom: -1H both

Annoyed by that, Treble now tries to smash that fool for doing this in this enclosed space. Dreidel does not give him the chance, as he continues to spin, drilling down into the floor of this room. He notes Treble get close and swing, but the Sandstorm plus his deceptively smaller size aids in the miss.

Dre: -3E ===///=== TC: -6E
Venom: -1H both

Ha, kinda funny, you can't really DIG around in this room. So Treble could see the shingles where Dreidel was going to appear from, and she mixed it up a bit. She fired off the Icy Wind, as instructed, and watched as it mixed around with the Sandstorm. Dreidel surged up, MISSING Treble and then also got a nice healthy dosage of cold since the storm kept the wind alive. Damn that's uncool.

===Round 6===

The sand storm was a nuisance, but Treble handled it like champ. She steadied her feet and was ready to try and sing(despite sand flying in her mouth) when the ground shook and tossed and bounced all over the place.o The Room was in shambles now, shingles falling off the roof, the ground all sharp and nasty to walk on. She could have impaled herself.

Nevertheless, Treble began singing a high noted ballad, one that Dreidel partially heard, due to the Sandstorm roaring about.

Dre: -7E ===///=== TC: -3E/-11H
Venom: -1H both

Dreidel didn't completely fall asleep, but that song did leave him dizzy headed. It did rock back and forth in place, forcing Treble to use the Earthquake that came about as a result to launch forward. Sher glid a few feet before whirling back and flying into Dreidel fists first. The Superman pose had a chilling accuracy to it, as Dreidel bounced to his side, alseep.

Dre: -7E/-12H ===///=== TC: -6E/-11H
Venom: -1H both

Both Pokemon lied there, glad their attacks both hit, but Dreidel...was not asleep! He bounded back up-yay for Auto Safeguard- and slammed his weight into nothing cause he was dead tired anyway.

Still red, our competitors now release a new set of Pokemon in order to contend with each other. Out hops a Kangaroo with baby attached, and a hefty ghost. Borth seem to eye each other, Polka really seems to be getting quite angry over what he's about to do.

Before Clotho can even begin to focus, Polka is all over him and punches him in the face. The ghost wafts back, pained by that hit.. Wait...O crap stupid Scraptastic Kanga..

Polka: -6E ===///=== CB: -6H

Well, not was not cool. Polka was not letting any breathing room sit between them so why should he? As Polks came for a close ripping attack that surely would have hurt the phantom, the ghost disappeared in a poof of its own energy. The force of Polka's swing sent him off balance, and CB reappeared, slamming into her backside hard enough to force her to the ground.

Polka raised herself up, determined not to let that happen again..

Polka: -11E/-9H ===///=== CB: -9E

Polka lunged around, and used both hands to try and spear this ghost, but once again, Clotho dropped below the incoming attack, and sprang forth, slamming right above the pouch. The Baby Kanga ducked down and sneezed at Clotho, making the ghost back up.

Polka: -11E/-9H ===///=== CB: -9E

This match is already tiring out Polka, but she seems to have a bunch of tricks up her sleeve.

How does one even play "reticulum" in Scrabble anyway? You've only got seven tiles! Notwithstanding, it's a proper noun! Darkly, I'm keeping an eye on youuuu.

Oslo
28th June 2010, 08:41 PM
You could play "reticulum" if someone had already played "tic". :3 And it's not proper if you're talking about an endoplasmic reticulum! (Sweet hell, I've not played Scrabble in FOREVER. <3)

Anyway, Polkaroo, this is a different kind of game you're playing, so focus. I want to see a Shadow Ball followed by a Shadow Claw and then another Shadow Ball. If he tries any kind of fancy method of evasion, focus and wait him out before recklessly firing off a move. Aim is key. ;) As well, if he Double Teams, let's see a Shock Wave.

Greyfox

Ah, forgot about tic. I'm a failure of a wordsmith.

Nevertheless, Clotho, let's get down to it -- let him use his Shadow Ball, then immediately Disable it. Then, as she charges forward with her Shadow Claw, fire a concentrated Ice Beam at her torso to knock her off balance. Finally, since her Shadow Ball'll be useless, end the round with a nice Focus Punch.

===Round 10===

The bright color was a bit unnerving to both fighters, but they soon got used to it. Both pokemon eyed each other and Clotho seemed slower on the draw. That led to Shadowball that sent shivers down his spine...if he had one.

But Clotho smirked and a strange seal came over the kangaroo, pinning him in place and forcing the sphere to explode in mid flight. Close one there.

Polka: -10E ===///=== CB: -7E

Polk shrugged and raised one glowing fist. Her baby raise don hand as well, but no energy came from that. The pair bounded over and Polka went to swipe, only to be forced flat on her chest by that nasty Ice Beam. Though on her stomach, she got up and lunged, slicing Clothos' lower mouth.

Polka: -9E/-10H ===///=== CB: -8E/-14H

Clotho held its lower jaw, but was able to keep its composure together. The brief moment of silence earlier was now noted, as Polka tried to fire off a second Shadowball. It worked, to Clotho's dismay! Maybe he meant to use Imprison. Whatever the case, that Focus Punch he was charging up rocked him to the floor.

Floating back to a vertical position, Clotho abandoned the Punch, knowing the battle landscape was majorly different

===Round 11===

Sped up a tad made things a bit more fun and fast paced for Clotho. He quickly sucked in enough energy to make a nice sized Dark Pulse. But Polkaroo was being hard headed again, and made a Double Team to confuse the ghost. Clotho let the blast free, watching it shatter a clone into oblivion.

Polka: -3E +2 cl.===///=== CB: -7E

Polka hissed and opened its mouth, revealing an ancient glowing light that would allure even the smartest man into thinking it was a safe place to be. This light somehow then conjured down shingles from the ceiling, forcing them to shatter all around the room.

Polka and its clones ran for cover, but she got clocked in the head a few times. Retaliation was swift as she picked up a few of said shingles and threw them with deadly accuracy right at Clotho.

Usually, there's no problem with that but this time they struck. Clotho flew backwards by their apparent power.

Polka: -7E/-9H ===///=== CB: -8E/-11H

Not pleased with getting rocked, Clotho turned to the ethereal. Polka smirked and decided to go toward something a little more effective damage wise, but suddenly found herself unable to conjour up the sphere. She growled as she was wiped out by the Psychic wave that sent her to the ground.

The follow up Shadowball was pretty potent, leaving Clotho flapping in the wind.

The bright room gave the fighters some more much needed energy, and Clotho now went for that enchantment spell. Even still, that first Shadowball found its mark, knocking him back a ways before the Imprisonment began. Polka looked to her tail, man this was crazily familiar.

Polka: -10E Imp ===///=== CB: -5E/-18H

Glad the spell was cast correctly now, Clotho picked up the pace. He flew in as Polka came running toward. Both Pokemon collided with each other, but that Shadow Claw definitly hurt worse.

Hrm... sorry to be a nagging so-and-so, I don't think Imprison was reffed correctly.

Imprison - PSY - The user consumes significant energy to prevent one opponent from reusing any move that the pair of them both can learn from the past two rounds. This can only happen if the Imprison user used that same move in the last few rounds as well. Imprison can only happen if the attack is one which deals with energy (has some sort of glow). You can’t Imprison’s Squirtle to Body Slam, but you can Imprison Skull Bash, due to the normal energy used in the attack. If the attack which is attempted to Imprison is of the victim’s type, the energy required to use Imprison rises significantly, and the attack takes much longer to do.

Because Dusknoir hasn't used Shadow Ball all match, he shouldn't be able to Imprison it, right? If I'm misunderstanding the move, though, mucho apologies in advance. :P

DarkestLight
6th July 2010, 04:41 PM
No that's good. I knew there were a billions errors still with the Move List.

Imprison works if both Pokemon know a specific move. The user of Imprison does not have to actually do said move in order to Imprison it, it knows how to manipulate the world around it to do such a move and all Pokemon do roughly the same thing.

The bolded sentence was part of the rewrite, but I know it was modified-and I now see I did not take it out. That's a flaw (of many) on my part. Sorry abut that Oslo.

Oslo
6th July 2010, 04:54 PM
No worries. Good to know. ;) Now maybe I'll start using Imprison more since I like it better without that one stipulation.

Anyway, Polkaroo, create a Substitute as fast as you can to eat up the damage from that crazy combo! Afterward, Relax and follow that up with Knock Off.

===Round 13===

The soothing blue tint to the room seemed to help each Pokemon out. Scrappy ol Polka over there was quick to build a fake version of her from broken shingles, while Clothos summoned massive energies to do his bidding. But those massive energies came at a funky price.

Clotho moved in fast as all heck, bypassing the sub, whilst the second part of the massive combo was unleashed, massive burst of energy shielding his body as he slammed headlong through Polkaroo. The opponent flew backwards, into the wall and lied there, completely defeated.

Or was she? She got up, but had too little health to do that..or to do anything else for that matter.

Sovereign stands tall in the room of blue namesake, just as Oslo reveals his final Pokemon. Its a small guy, a Munchlax. He yawns, and Sovereign decides to focus a bit. A nice sheen glowered over her, but Snore Warrior had a totally different idea. Fist glowing, he walked over to Sovereign, and socked her in the foot. Sovereign hopped around, pained by that little suckers power.

SW: -5E ===///=== SB: -1E/-17H +2 Def

Snore smiled, glad Sovereign was in pain. The bird took a moment to focus, and swatted her heavy wing down on Snore. Snore grabbed that wing and swung it back into Blue's chest, causing Blue a considerable amount of pain.

SW: -3E/-10H ===///=== SB: -3E/-21H

Sovereign backed away. This little guy was taking her down damned fast! So she charged up a icy beam, right when a Flamethrower came her way. The pint size fighter had a lot of gusto, and he showed it with a wave of his left hand in a circular motion. Three rings of electric power began to crackle in form. A massive accumulation of snow and tiles came falling from the ceiling, due to Sovereign condensing the air so much it caused that part of the ceiling to cave in! Snore was buried under it all!

===Round 17===

Still covered in mud, Blue runs over and goes to smash that little Munchlax down. But Snore was not taking a hit lying down. Well he is kinda sitting down for this, but that doesn't matter. He calmly waves his hand (the other is rubbing his head) and Blue feels a weird rush come over her. She doesn't know what just happened, but she goes with it.

SW: -5E/-12H ===///=== SB: -6E BB gone!

Blue quit the subtle approach, and now began to jump in place Snore tried to get up and evade, but he fell over from the Earthquake shattering the ground. Blue laughed and tried to hide back in the darkness, but damn if Snore didn't get that Shock Wave off!

Blue had a seizure from it, but fought off paralysis.

SW: -5E/-12H ===///=== SB: -9E/-7H

Snore got back up again, glad that the Earthquake was over. Looking through the darkness was a bit harder now, and Blue not moving around didn't make it any easier. Blue had a hard time trying to remember what it had to do.

Snore then lurched forward, but with the darkness in the room, he sped past Blue. Blue jumped backwards from that swift blue streak, glad to see that attack miss.

Since the darkness just keeps giving us grief, there's no point in taking an unnecessary risk. Three more Shock Waves.

===Round 18===

Man this match is coming down to the wire! Blue stands her ground against this little prodigy of a fighter. She jumps back, after making a few chopping block sounds, and Snore is unsure what just happened to her. He waddles forth and throws another ring of electric fire at her, only to watch it sizzle and spark to his left?

That's not good, it was supposed to hit her!

SW: -5E ===///=== SB: -8E/-17H Sub: 10

Upset that Blue was to his right, but his attack went to the left, Snore tried to get close enough to Blue so his second Shockwave wouldn't go haywire! It however, bampfed backwards upon being released, blue smirking all the way to the bank.

Snore grunted and jumped in place angrily, giving Blue all the time to coalesce her remaining energy into a Hail Mary of a balancer. Snore was struck with the tip of her wing lightly at first..and that was it.

SW: -5E/-4H ===///=== SB: -2E Sub: 3

Snore was taken back by the weakened blow, and a third and final Shockwave was released. It struck the Sub, and destroyed it. Blue cringed at the sound of her Sub finally biting the dust, but the tide may have shifted to her favor.

SW: -5E ===///=== SB: ..

A refreshing backwash of water hits Blue. (5) As the backwash strikes her, the room begins its psychedelic phase. Round and round and round we go, until we hit...green again. Huh.

===Round 19===

Blue has little choice now but to deceive her opponent, as this green room offers no real sanctuary to her survival. Snore begins to build up as much energy as it can, as Blue splits into 5 copies all across the field. Snore giggles, and lets that magnificent ring of electricity go up, and come spinning down right for the real mud-covered Empoleon. At the same time, a rocketing Munchlax fist comes flying for it, and all Empoleon can do is brace for impact.

Munchlax scores a direct shocking hit, and Empoleon...still stands, but she's not looking too good.

SW: -15E ===///=== SB: -3E/-24H

With none of her clones, Blue is a sitting duck for trouble. She also feels that the mud might finally be cracking off, Aqua Ring nonwithstanding. All she can do is fire off a Brine that speeds across the room and strikes Snore dead in the eyes! Snore wipes away the burning sensation with a little difficulty, but decides its time to end this.

Accumulating a massive amount of electricity, he lets it loose in a haphazard Thunder. Blue tries to get out of the way, but she's struck by the blast and taken down.

SW: -10E/-12H ===///=== SB: -5E/-16H

Even the water washing over Blue can't save her now. Shes gone...and the match is over. Oslo wins the Coin Badge.

Again-I apologize for my massive errors in this match. I could give you a thousand and one excuses for it, but I won't. I'll just say that I didn't mean for my reffing to be so horrible. This one gives me a few things to re-evaluate.
