Osloki's 5 on 5 island battle! (Deadwood vs. Charles; ref: Oslo) :)

ASB, I’m so friggin’ bored that I’ve decided upon two ways to entertain myself: either stick my tongue in a fan or ref a battle. In the interest of my tongue’s well-being… is anyone up for a five on five? :)

Ladies and gents, the arena will be… Osloki Island!

Yes, the fray will take place on the placid shore of some uncharted Caribbean island. It’s night here and the only light comes from the hanging moon and the many wooden torches lining the shore. The fronds of innumerable palm trees sway in the night breeze and, right where the beach meets the treeline, the indestructible tiki of the island god, Osloki, watches over the battle. (Yeah, I just named a god after me. I must be shameless.)

Every so often, you’re encouraged to offer Osloki a blessing in the form of any damage-dealing attack. Osloki will store these blessings and keep track of how much damage has been dealt to him with a damage meter. When Osloki is offered 50 HP of damage, the wooden tiki will mysteriously come to life. If you’re the one who was quick enough to issue that final attack that brought Osloki to 50 HP, then he will assist you by placing a curse upon your opponent. This curse might manifest itself in the form of damage, a status or something else nasty. :) Nothing too game-changing, though. After Osloki places a curse on someone, his damage meter will return to 0 HP and the process will repeat itself.

Osloki is a rather vain god (but what deity isn’t?) and will smite you if you choose not to offer him blessings, however. If either battler goes ten actions without offering Osloki a blessing, then he’ll automatically come to life and curse them… so yeah, you be kind now. ;)

Because it’s night, Sunny Day and Morning Sun will fail and moves that require sunlight (SolarBeam, Synthesis, etc.) will work less effectively. Moonlight will work like normal. As well, I’m going to ban non-damaging healing moves. Abilities are active.

Finally, as one added stipulation… I want both participating trainers to PM me with the five Pokemon they’ll be using for this fight, and I will decide upon the order of their release. Just to keep things extra-exciting.

Ahh, a beautiful night down at the beach! Creepy tiki statue sitting over yonder notwithstanding, it truly is a perfect evening... so why not make a battle out of it?

On one side, we have newcomer Deadwood going up against veteran Charles. Ooh, the excitement's mounting. Plucking random Pokeballs from their belts without the benefit of knowing what's inside, Deadwood calls a wee little skunk into the fray while Charles counters with a tall magma duckie. How bizarre.

Well, whatever. Let's do this!

Heat Man is the first to move, concentrating his might into a focused beam of energy. The beam collides with Neanie and, phew, thank goodness for that Poison-typing to balance out Dark's weakness to Fighting... else that might have been real messy. Shaking off that powerful blow, Neanie marches up to her foe and spews a sticky glob of some sort of goo at Heat Man.

Judging by the look on the Magmar's face... he is not a fan.

Heat Man: <-11 EP; Txc>

Feeling a little on the ill side, Heat Man nonetheless pulls his shit together for a second Focus Blast. Neanie skids backward in the sand, nearly being dragged out into the ocean from that powerful strike, but she's not gonna let the hothead get away with that one. Turning around, she kicks some of the moist sand at the water's edge at Heat Man. The stuff gets in the magma duckie's eyes and, ooh, is that an Accuracy loss I detect? Methinks it is!

Neanie: <-13 HP; -4 EP>
Heat Man: <-6 HP; -11 EP; -1 Acc>

When in doubt... hack and slash and spam your way to victory! Heat Man's third energy burst connects with its target but not quite as square-on as the other two, sparing Neanie the full force of the move. The Stunky responds by leaping upon Heat Man's face and clawing at his eyes. Heat Man stumbles around, blinded by the big ol' skunk clinging to his head. That's rough.

Though Heat Man appears to have the upperhand at the moment, time will tell if he can maintain his lead. The Magmar does his best to protect his interests by firing off single pulsating light that drifts toward Neanie and, quick as can be, begins scrambling the little stinker’s brains. Uh-oh. However, Neanie manages to let cooler heads prevail just long enough unleash a powerful burst of fire at Osloki. Suddenly, as the flames strike the little tiki god, its eyes shine gold for a moment before going dim.

Ooh. That’s, like, ominous to the power of weird. And then squared.

Neanie: <-10 EP; Con>

Osloki: <+10 HP>

With Neanie’s head in a daze, Heat Man takes advantage of his foe’s misfortune by spewing massive globs of molten stone all down the beach. The luminous chunks splatter against Neanie, sizzling her up nicely, but the Stunky manages to again keep on top of things long enough to bound over toward Heat Man and smack him up with a steel-encased tail. However, the Magmar’s hot body diminishes the Iron Tail’s bite more than a tad. Heat Man places his hands on his hips and snorts. Is that all you got, skunk?

Heat Man: <-4 HP; -8 EP>

Once more, Heat Man coats Neanie with a nice, gooey coat of lava. Ooh, is that widdle Stunky feeling a little Burnt all of a sudden? Methinks he is. Irked, Neanie gets so mad that he retaliates by… picking up a nearby seashell and smashing his face with it. Um. Good luck, kiddo.

Turning his attention on Osloki, Heat Man huffs and puffs and blows a massive flaming ideogram toward the tiki statue. The fiery attack collides, causing Osloki’s eyes to glow gold for just a second before going dim. Neanie, meanwhile, manages to overcome the Confusion that’s been hounding her (huzzah!) as she hurls the full weight of her body into her opponent. Yeah, take that, jerk!

Neanie: <-2 HP from recoil; -10 EP>
Heat Man: <-12 HP; -10 EP>

Osloki: <+10 HP>

As the two fighters now turn their sights on one another, Neanie correctly preempts an attack coming from Heat Man and darts in with a quick Sucker Punch to the shin. Heat Man stumbles back in the sand but regains his footing quickly. He then enters into some kind of insane flaming mania and, limbs ablaze, charges Neanie with an all-out fiery assault. Ouchies.

Neanie: -13 HP; -8 EP>
Heat Man: <-8 HP; -2 HP from recoil; -10 EP>

Once again, Heat Man demonstrates his physical prowess with another Flare Blitz. The fiery assault proves to be too much for Neanie as the Stunky decides she’s had enough of this battle. The little critter concentrates her energy into a massive Explosion that hurls sand and beach debris everywhere. When the sand clouds finally settle, we see Neanie left in a rough state. Somehow, after all that, the Magmar stands.

As Neanie returns to her Pokeball, Deadwood hurls a second random Pokeball onto the sand, summoning a… oh my. A massive leviathan of a Pokemon appears on the beach and slithers into the water. Heat Man gulps, feeling awfully Intimidated. Shiiit. Suddenly, the sea dragon begins crackling with electricity and targets Heat Man with a massive... Thunder Wave!? He has 2 HP left! Go for a killshot! Glowing red, Heat Man attempts to manipulate the Electric move, but finds it far beyond his prowess. Instead, he’s just barely able to scatter the static shock away from himself. The yellow sparkles diffuse into the air, affecting no one.

Snuggles: <-3 EP>
Heat Man: <-9 EP; -1 Att>

Peering down upon her foe, Snuggles opens wide and lets loose with a high-pressure burst of water. The Hydro Pump rushes toward Heat Man, who… vanishes on the spot? Dude, the Gen I folks really needed to rethink the some of their TMs. But anyway, the Magmar reappears, oh no, atop the Gyarados’s head! Uh-oh! Snuggles thrashes and tosses her head, trying to rid herself of this most unwelcome intruder, but, like a champion bullrider, Heat Man refuses to be bucked.

Heat Man: <-4 EP>

Letting out a tremendous roar, Snuggles figures the Toxic will finish off her Magmar friend and instead targets Osloki with a ferocious Avalanche! As the snow piles upon the statue, its eyes glow gold and then fade. As his final act, Magmar retains his grip on Snuggles and spews some sickening sludge onto the back of the beast’s head. Ew.

Charles recalls poor Heat Man and lets his second Pogey enter the battle. A muscle-bound beast trudges through the sand, grunting and tossing his shoulders aggressively. From the water, Snuggles eyes her new foe and begins catcalling and jeering him to no end. Jerk. Ganondorf replies by diving into the water and swimming toward his foe. Once he’s in range, he clobbers Snuggles with an electricity-infused punch. Ouch!

Snuggles: <-14 HP; -4 EP>
Ganondorf: <-5 EP; Tormented>

As Ganondorf merely chills there treading water, he finds himself unable to attack. Seems like someone’s feelings are just too gosh-darn hurt. Snuggles takes advantage of this moment as she gleefully drills her tail down into the ocean floor, causing our surroundings to shake and shimmy about. Ganondorf gets tossed about like a ragdoll. Hey, ease up!

Snuggles: <-7 EP>
Ganondorf: <-8 HP; Can’t move!>

Finding himself able to attack again, Ganondorf again goes for a ThunderPunch. Saw that one coming! Snuggles lets out a wail as electric current pulsates through her body, but she is able to hold it together long enough to respond with an electric discharge of her own. Ooh, the pair of them smell a little toasty!

Ganondorf: <-10 HP; -5 EP>

Snuggles's stomach churns as the Toxin begins to amp up <-5 HP>.

Though Snuggles isn’t exactly in the best condition, she manages to crackle with electricity and target Ganondorf with one heck of a discharge. The swimming Machoke grunts as the electricity roasts him alive, but he’s ready to exact some Revenge in the form of a series of punching and kicking moves directed at the Gyarados. However, given Snuggles’s resistance to Fighting-type moves, the attack loses a bit of its sting.

Snuggles: <-6 HP; -10 EP>
Ganondorf: <-10 HP; -4 EP>

As water begins burbling from Snuggles’s lips, the massive sea beast turns her sights on the Osloki statue back at the shore. A concentrated aquatic blast launches forth, colliding with Osloki and causing the statue’s eyes to shine cold. Ooh, looks like you’re almost there, guys! Meanwhile, Ganondorf climbs up out of the water and begins scaling the Gyarados’s back. His muscled fingers dig and gouge into Snuggles’s scales and he tugs at her white spines as he climbs, causing her some agony.

Snuggles: <-5 HP; -10 EP>

Osloki: <+11 HP>

All of a sudden, before either fighter can execute their move, Osloki’s eyes begin glowing scarlet. Uh-oh. A breeze picks up on the quiet moonlit beach and soon elevates into a raging windstorm. Without warning or explanation, these winds lift Ganondorf up off Snuggles’s back and holds him immobile in the air like a pinned insect in some invisible frame. Then, almost as if hissing, the wind begins buffeting and beating away at the Machoke with impunity.

Taking advantage of her foe’s state, Snuggles chuckles and spits out a big ol’ glob of Toxic gunk at the Machoke. Yucky. Then, as quickly as the wind started, it dies down, and Osloki’s eyes grow dim. Thoroughly beaten and now poisoned, Machoke drops into the water. That ought to teach you to respect your island deity, bub!

Snuggles grunts as the Toxic increases in might <-7 HP> while Ganondorf is given his first taste <-3 HP>.
