Okay since I've had a few matches be DQ'ed cuz of inactivity, I'm hosting another 1v1 between any pair of trainers. Since it's a 1v1 it should be quick, it should be fun, and it should get your guys some much needed/wanted/desired EXP.

So, WHo's in?

Arena, Abilities, Banned moves, all up to you.

DQ is 1 week.

Dogfish44
17th September 2010, 10:24 AM
I'll Enter with my Male Quilava, Magma, ability blaze if that's ok.

I'd like to ban toxic and rest, and then leave the rest up to my opponent.

Knight of Time
17th September 2010, 10:36 AM
I'll jump in on this one.

I think I'm going to send out my male Cubone, King of Clubs (name subject to change upon evolution), who has Lightningrod (might change to Rock Head when he evolves).

I'll edit this later with moves and stuff (I am thinking of adding some more banned moves, but I'll decide later).

Edit: Can we ban the rest of the non-damaging healing moves, all moves that can or do lower accuracy when successful (e.g. Mud-Slap and Octazooka but not Double Team, since it raises evasion), Endeavour, Perish Song, Grudge, Memento, Attract, and Captivate, please?

I'll post moves once I have an answer. Oh, and the arena, might as well have it be Indigo Stadium.

Dogfish44
17th September 2010, 10:55 AM
OK. those banned moves are fine by me.

Knight of Time
17th September 2010, 10:58 AM
Alright, then here we go.

K.O.C., we have to be careful, so let's do it to it. Start with a Double Team, then use a double Earth Power.

If he tries Double Team himself, use Earthquake, and rattle the whole field.

Dogfish44
17th September 2010, 12:01 PM
OK, let's take our time.

Start off with a howl, then use Aerial Ace to dodge that first Earth Power and mow down those clones.

Finish up with a Will - O - Wisp

Ready! FIGHT!

Here we are again ladies and gents, your wonderful ref here to give you another specimen sparring spectacle! This match involves the Knight of Time against newbie Dogfish44, as the two summon and release their Pokemon onto the field. Dogfish's resembles a badger of sorts, with flames kicking out on his head and tail end, while Knights looks like well... a knight with a skull for a helmet.

Can Knight secure an easy win using type advantage, or will Dogfish surprise us all by knocking him down a few pegs?

Let's get things started! Pokémon Battle all set?! Ready! GO!

King starts things off by splitting into multiple forms (-4 E @ King of Clubs, 4 Clones → 80% Chance Attack Miss). Magma sees that he's surrounded by the Cubone, and lets out a eerie howl (-3 E @ Magma/ATK → -1). Even though Magma dunnit know who the real King is, doesn't mean King isn't intimated a little bit.

Magma's ready for anything, as all the Cubone around him slam their clubs into the ground, causing the ground to shake before getting ready to explode (-6 E @ King of Clubs, -3 H @ King of Clubs, 0 Clones/-3 E @ Magma). Magma took off into the air at the last second and zoomed around before slamming into the real King and leaving the clones disappear.

King's ticked at the change of pace, and slams his club into the ground, upwhelling the floor underneath Magma (-7 E @ King of Clubs/-16 H @ Magma). Magma's sent flying back and he pushes himself back up as bits of his flame fly forwards and strike burns on King's body (-1 E @ Magma/BRN → -2 HP Per Round, ATK → -2).

The match seems in Knight's favor, but does Magma have some more tricks up his sleeve?

(-2 H @ King of Clubs)

OK Magma, keep it up!

Hidden Power. Then go for some lava Plumes.

Knight of Time
18th September 2010, 10:17 AM
As long as that Hidden Power isn't a supereffective one K.O.C., we're pretty much okay.

Use Swagger first to get Magma confused, then use another duo of Earth Powers.

This isn't the first time I've battled an evolved Pokemon with an unevolved Pokemon, BTW. I like the added challenge every once in a while, taking on a bigger opponent. It's like showing your gutsy side in taking the challenge of something up a notch.

Oh Mew Master, something I almost forgot, before you ref, I thought I should mention to you and Dogfish44 that my Cubone is shiny.

Mew Master
19th September 2010, 01:23 AM
Actually, Knight, if you wanted a challenge you could have one by not using any Super Effective moves. Considering that in ASB even a Squirtle can take out a Charizard, levels and evolutions don't really matter (just like Stop signs when you're drunk).

Ready! FIGHT!

The battle continues on. Can King secure his win, or will Magma melt him down to basalt?

Pokémon Battle all set?! Ready! GO!

King gets the jump on Magma by spitting out some pretty crazy insults that don't quite make sense (-3 E @ King of Clubs/CFN → 50% Chance Attack Failure, ATK → +2). Magma's confused, and that's not good (-7 E @ Magma Hidden Power → Dragon, CFN → 40% Chance Attack Failure/-7 H @ King of Clubs).

It seems like it's a good time for Magma, as he charges up another attack (-7 E @ Magma, CFN → 30% Chance Attack Failure/-11 H @ King of Clubs), which hits home as the ground under King erupts in lava. King isn't going to just lay down and take it, however, as he summons the element of earth (-5 E @ King of Clubs/-14 H @ Magma).

Magma just got beat on pretty badly, but he's not giving up (-5 E @ Magma, -7 H @ Magma, CFN → 20% Chance Attack Failure) but trips over himself anyway. The Cubone snickers to himself before he summons the earth's power once more (-6 E @ King of Clubs/-15 H @ Magma, SPDEF → -1).

The battle almost seems even, but King still has the upper hand. Can Magma snap out of his stupor to get some solid hits in, or will King rock his world?

Ready! FIGHT!

We're back as Knight claims to enjoy a challenge, but this is so uneven in his favor that it's crazy. Does Dogfish have a plan up his sleeve, or will the Ground-type rock his world?

Magma braces himself as King starts to shout insults and confusing rhetoric again (-5 E @ Magma, CFN → 10% Chance Attack Failure/-3 E @ King of Clubs), but it doesn't seem to affect the Quilava.

Ready and willing to go, Magma unleashes a burst of energy that slams into King hard in the side (-6 E @ Magma, CFN → 0% Chance Attack Failure/-7 H @ King of Clubs). But the Cubone isn't so defenseless as he rattles the world with a heavy shaking (-7 E @ King of Clubs/-13 H @ Magma).

King presses his advantage, using another blast of earth energy (-5 E @ King of Clubs, -5 H @ King of Clubs/-3 E @ Magma), but Magma zooms out of the way at the last second and slams into King decently hard.

(-2 H @ King of Clubs)

Uh, Mew Master, just wondering, but what type was Natural Gift?

I'm pretty sure it stays the Normal type if the opponent (in this case, K.O.C.) has only a lowered stat, and not a single stat raised, right?

Mew Master
19th September 2010, 07:36 PM
Yes it was of the Normal Type since King didn't have any raised stats. And Cubone doesn't have any resistances to Normal Type Attacks.

Dogfish44
20th September 2010, 10:23 AM
Keep at it Magma, we can do it!

I want you to lead off with a Flame Wheel, then Flamethrower, then Flame Wheel.

If it starts firing off Earth Powers at you, use Aerial Ace to dodge and strike.
If it has any clones up at any time, use heat wave instead to dispose of them all.
If you won't survive the final turn, switch your last move to protect.

(Sorry about mass subbing)

Knight of Time
20th September 2010, 10:41 AM
K.O.C., let's end this as fast as we can.

I want you to use three Earthquakes on Magma, but in combo form. Combine them into one MASSIVE, continuous tremor (basically, a mega-quake)!

Yeah Mew Master, it's a three move combo of the same move...just think of an earthquake that would be at (or heck, even above) 10 on the Richter scale.

Its down to the wire. Knight of Time has the advantage in type, health, and strength, but can the newbie Dogfish manage to get a head, or will Knight bury him like the dinosaurs?

Pokémon Battle all set?! Ready! GO!

The Cubone raises his club and channels most of his energy into it. A thousand rages upon the Earth Mother focused into his being as he slams his club into the ground and releases the energy within. The entire stadium rolls and buckles with the energy, slamming into Magma hard like a rolling hill actually rolling (-40 E @ King of Clubs/-36 H @ Magma (TKO'D!)). It sends the little Quilava flailing back and forth as the earth rattled, until it can't flame on any more.

With that earth-shattering collection of earthen power, Knight has ended the match.

What? It's over already?

Good battle Dogfish44, sorry it had to go pretty hard on you, but hey, it's still a learning experience for you, isn't it?

You know, combos can come as a real surprise in a match if they're used to bring down an opponent that fast...just because it's one of my strategies at times doesn't mean others can't follow up on it...anyone can do a combo, if they get creative.

Thanks for reffing, Mew Master, yeah, I guess that combo would have broken the Richter Scale.

I know the feeling Dogfish44...if they gave certain Pokemon new moves that would make a lot of sense depending on the Pokemon, it would make things so much better.
