Alright, Chaos, you know the drill. As of right now, we're the only two trainers with a legendary pokemon, so we're gonna hafta do battle with one another to see which one is better!

The arena is going to be a simple plateau about a mile in the air.

We'll let the ref (someone good, please, this match is meant to be legendary) flip a coin or some such to decide who attacks first.

I'll be using Zapdos while you'll be using Darkrai. Let's go!

Alright, let's get things underway. Zapdos, first and foremost, use Agility to get away from him if he tries Dark Void. Can't have you falling asleep so early in the game. Otherwise, let's try Light Screen. Follow that up with a Signal Beam, then use Charge Beam!

Snatch his Light Screen, then Hypnosis him until it works. If you still get a last action, and you're damaged, use Dream Eater. Otherwise, use Nightmare.

I'll say not much as I am humbled by what I am witnessing today. We have ourselves here a Legendary battle, one that -for sure-will go down in the annules of ASB history. Chaos and his Darkrai versus Grey and his Zapdos. With no further ado, let's get this on!

Zapdos flies on the scene, sparking with an immense electrical aura. Darkrai slithers from the darkness of Chaos' own Shadow, but its fearsome power begins to spread that darkness around its area. Intent on stopping any strange bolts rthat might fly its way Zapdos caws, forcing light to meld into a rough barrier around itself...but the barrier seems to actually favor Darkrai. Thew beast extends one hand to solidify the exchange and marvels at its new Light Screen.

Displeased with being robbed (*Who robs a legend?), Zapds forces lightning bolts of immense power to rain down upon the field before firing off its own blast to signify damage will be dealt. Darkrai takes teh Signal Beam head on, and notes its power. Both hands rise and those coarsely bent fingers wriggle, emitting a coozo aura that tries to nullify the time Zapdos can stay conscious. The avian though, seems no less tired than when it started this match.

Knowing this beast is going to be a tough cookie, Zapdos flies in close, ready to use its elemental prowess to overcome its own shielding. Electricity builds up along its plumage, before firing off of the left wing. The Charged static Beam strikes the shielded Darkrai, whom continues the Hypnotic suggestion. This time, Zapdos is forced to land, and start to nod off. There is a wipe of yellow that washes over the electric avain, but Zapdos is just about in snoozeville.

The snoozing legend seems at peace, as the thief of dreams sweeps in and does what it does best, pilfer those delectable dreams. From a Legend, its a bit riskier, as their dreams are just as powerful and vivid as the beasts themselves. Zapdos crackles with electricity, but does not awaken as Darkrai breaks the link off.

Zapdos caws, and ..stays still. But, to the trained referee eye, I note the most sly move a sleeping Pokemon could do. Substitute. Darkrai doesn't seemed phazed however.

Darkrai then floats over to the Substitute, and whispers taunts in the Zapdos's ear. The true Zapdos doesn't even flinch at what Darkrai is saying, but Zapdos is talking. Quite vividly too. All of a sudden, winds begin to blow, and Darkrai feels the flush push him backwards.

Darkrai now holds its arms above its head, and gets ready to deliver a powerful blast of icy power onto Zapdos' frame, when its body becomes encumbered with a supersonic series of pins and needles. The Ice Beam is not stopped, and Zapdos's Substitute is smashed to smithereens...but Zapdos blinks at all the pieces flying about.

Those same eyes narrow and stare at Darkrai, who realizes there may be a kink in its Flawless Victory..

Fixed. *Shurg* Sleep talk is still an Attack, so Taunt really has no effect on what move Sleep Talk executes. Switched out Twave for Drill Peck and..yeah there you go =/

How would taunt work on a sleeping pokemon though? I mean, if he's asleep, he can't really react to anything.

It doesn't. Taunt would work, but the only attacks a sleeping Pokemon can use are Snore and Sleep Talk, both not inhibited by Taunt. So it really dun matter if Taunt was used. Sleep Talk is still valid.

But if he didn't hear the taunts, then why would they effect him? Also, Darkrai should be at 87HP. =3

In truth, sound attacks should bypass Substitute, kinda like overhearing it. I could rewrite that so its a loud Taunt.

Not talking about the substitute, Darkly, but the sleeping. You don't usually react to taunts if you're sleeping...

Darkrai can eat your dreams, but you have difficulty imagining how it could piss you off in your sleep? If you really want something that doesn't rely on magical forces that pokemon seems to use regularly... Zapdos woke up coated in shaving cream, with a fake beard and moustache drawn on it's beak. Zapdos. Was. Pissed.

Its a verbal taunt though Chaos. However, if it could be expressed well, I'd say it was something stated that ruined Zapdos' dreaming, and it woke him up in a rage.

Fair enough. Zap, let's make him regret those demeaning words about your mother! Use Frustration, followed by U-Turn. Finish with Rock Smash! However, if he tries to put you to sleep at all, use Aerial Ace to dodge and strike!

hmm... interesting choice.

Slow him down with Thunder Wave, so that Aerial Ace wont dodge as easily. Then Dark void him. Then, assuming Zapdos is asleep, OmNomNom his dreams again. Otherwise, send off another Ice Beam.

Zapdos flares up, and takes back to the skies once more. Darkrai seems to collect some of that free static electricity in the air, and use it against the avian. It turns to try and see where Zapdos flew to, and well, that's not hard to fathom when the avian flies into him at full speed. Darkrai grabs onto the now fleeing bird and gives him back that electric spark.

Angered that its even affected by electrical attacks; Zapdos flaps erratically. The dark Pokemon then creates a dome around itself, than suddenly spreads rapidly outward. Zapdos flies up and manages to fly over it, before dive bombing the specter head on.

Zapdos: -3E ===///=== Darkrai: -8E/-5H

Darkrai was miffed! This thing was not staying asleep or still! It created another Ice Beam, as Zapdos flew toward him again, crashing into its gut with its left wing. A chill ran down its spine, but that chill was transferred to Zapdos. The Ice Beam forced Zapdos to come to a nasty crash on the ground.

The legendary avian shoots forth now, crackling with extreme prejudice toward Darkrai. Darkrai conjures up two fistfuls of chilling energy, and fires off one from his left hand. Zapdos takes the blast head on, and ..hits the ground like a rock? I'm...not sure what just happened there..

Glad the bird FINALLY clenched up under its own element, Darkrai unleashed a second blast of frothy power, as he welled up a third blast in his left hand again. No soner than the second hit rained down on Zapdos, then a powerful counterblast flew up and smacked Darkrai back a few yards. The phantom glowered, unsure by what Zapdos just unleashed.

That Tailwind stopped for now, huh. Well, that's not sitting nice with Darkrai. Roaring and cupping both hands around that final forthy ball, Darkrai lets its power loose, a thick Ice Beam that looks like it could freeze Articuno if it had the chance! Zapdos speeds in, seeing as its body is still able to move, and collides with Darkrai. The collision forced the beam's trajectory to point downward though, slicing across Zapdos' face.

I don't understand why Snatch would bypass Protect since the attack list clearly states it protects against all incoming attacks. Sure, Snatch isn't really an attack, per se, but neither is Roar or Attract, but Protect still prevents them...

Zapdos stays seated, staring at the crafty dark type. Feeling some sort of malevolence in its near future, Zapdos constructs a powerful barrier just in case something comes flying from that creature, and also takes the time to rejuvenate itself. This does burn a large amount of energy, but Darkrai just watches, and plots.

Glad he has an idea of whats about to happen now, Darkrai quickly creates a massive sphere of chilling power, and...watches as Zapdos falters on the ground, due to paralysis! Easy pickings! The souped up Ice Beam does some pretty hefty damage..

Zapdos huffs, upset that it faltered that last action and is railed by yet anotehr Ice cold slap to the face. Darkrai merely laughs, finding this humorous and yet calming at the same time.

Knowing things could get rough, Zapdos falls back to the ground, and prepares to take a rest. Darkrai does not like that prospect one bit and flies off a massive Ice Beam to try and chill the bird into submission. Zapdos falls over, but its clear he's just asleep..

Astounded by the fact that this bird seems able to take a hell of alot of damage, Darkrai uses a Dark Pulse to try and break the cycle. Zappy doesn't even move-it doesn't have the strength to.

Still sound asleep, Zapdos is a sitting oversized electric turkey. a chilling blast rains down as Darkrai floats over him and fires mercilessly. Does Zapdos even move? No. Darkrai realizes he's almost spent, and the bird doesn't even look worse for wear!

Edit: Wait a second: Zapdos is paralyzed, and slower than Darkrai. Why didn't it faint from Ice Beam before it could get the chance to rest?

If you aim to hit me, and I am falling asleep. I'm still gonna fall asleep whether you hit me or not. Rest's power is so heightened, that the user of it succumbs almost immediately, despite being attacked at any speed. Therefore, the Ice Beam hit while Zapdos was in the midst of recovering.

Zapdos is still asleep and will remain so for one more action.
