The ASB Reffing Tower

Welcome to the Reffing Tower: a vital part of the ASB community. If you are an approved ASBer and you want to earn points as an official ref, then look at the mock battle below and try it out! You can also try out as a contest judge: more information is below. Here you may request a ref, offer your services, keep your ref record up to date and apply for a position. All other information is below, but if there is anything else you want to know, PM a Head Ref and we'll help you out.

What Are Referees?
A referee is the person who interprets the attacks made by all battlers and decides exactly what effect they have, before writing out a descriptive piece detailing the battle. Referees have the power to decide who wins a battle, and are therefore entrusted with great responsibility. As a referee, you are expected to be unbiased and consistent.

Reffing A Battle
While reffing a battle, you are required to give a description of how you see each attack panning out. This gives the referee a lot of freedom to write creatively, and the battlers the freedom to be far more strategic and clever in their battle plans than the games ever do. And because of this, you will often see many attacks interpreted differently by different referees, in different situations. It is perfectly acceptable that you ref your attacks differently than others would, as long as it remains unbiased, consistent and logical.

The most important factor when reffing, is to remember what game you are playing. This is ASB, not Pokemon Red, Gold or Sapphire. Damage should never be pre-calculated; attacks do not have set amounts of damage. When an attack is used, you should take into account things such as accuracy of the attack (whether it hit full on, or just brushed the opponent) and the type of the opponent (water attacks do more damage to fire types, etc.).

If you are at any time unsure of how to ref an attack, look at the ASB Movelist (http://www.pokemasters.net/forums/showthread.php?t=18618) for a good guide. However this is merely a guide and does not have to be followed exactly.

Another important thing to know about is "damage caps." It is generally recommended that ASB refs apply a 30-50% damage cap during all normal battles (unless the battlers request it be removed). The most widely used value is 40%. A damage cap simply means that a pokémon cannot receive more than that set amount of damage in one round, regardless of any and all circumstances. Damage caps are completely omitted in events such as Gym Leader/Tourney battles.

If you receive complaints about your reffing, you are expected to explain your actions to the battlers, so that everybody knows where they stand. If as a battler, you feel a ref’s explanation is biased, or unfair, report to one of the Head Refs who will sort the issue out and have the final say.

The Reffing Tower
The Reffing Tower is where you come to become an approved ref. The difference between an approved ref and an unapproved ref is quite simple: an approved ref gets extra rewards for their reffing. Therefore, you can choose to be an unapproved ref and gain the same amount of points from a battle that an approved ref gains but you will not get extra awards and may be at risk of being fired due to poor reffing quality. Approved refs are ranked, depending on their ability and their activeness. There are four attainable ranks, those being Rookie, Intermediate, Advanced and Master. There is also the Head ref, a position a few core individuals hold, they have the final say on every reffing matter. If you have any complaints about reffing, you go to them.

The reffing tower is also used to request a referee. If you wish to request a new or sub ref, please post a link to the battle, saying whether you require a new ref or a sub ref.

Becoming A Ref
To become an approved ref, you must ref the mock battle at the bottom of this post. The Head ref will then analyze your reffing, and decide whether or not you are worthy of a spot as an approved ref. A newly approved ref will start off in either Rookie or Intermediate level; this is at the Head Ref’s discretion. If you fail the test, you must wait for a new mock battle before attempting again. If you just joined ASB, it would beneficial to you if you viewed other reffings before jumping in on your own. It’s not mandatory but it would help you see how the reffings are done.

Now That You're A Ref...
If you wish to gain promotion, then you must ref the current mock battle (provided you haven't already reffed it). Please also include what rank you are currently, and what rank you are attempting to achieve. When deciding whether you are worthy of promotion, the Head Ref will also study your general performance, to ensure you are reffing all battles at a good enough quality. It is also possible to be promoted due to sheer hard work, but you must display willingness to be promoted before an actual promotion will take place.

You must always post links to the battles you are currently reffing to receive your reward, and update your posts every few rounds at least. You should keep all this information in one post, until the head ref posts a new mock battle (this will be in a new post too); then you can make a new post.

As a referee, you are expected to be active. If you go for an extended period of time without reffing (unless you’ve posted in the Absence Tower (http://www.pokemasters.net/forums/showthread.php?t=20133)), you will be either demoted or fired and will have to re-do a mock reffing in order to be rehired.

Rewards
Point allocation goes as follows:

1 on 1 - Winner and Ref: 2 points, Loser: 1 point.
2 on 2 - Winner and Ref: 4 points, Loser: 2 points.
3 on 3 - Winner and Ref: 6 points, Loser: 3 points.
etc.

The loser of the match always receives points equal to the number of pokémon used during the match, while the winner and referee receive twice that.

If you were reffing a ten on ten match, but only reach the 4th Pokemon from each contestant, and the battle ends in DQ or forfeit, you receive the amount of points had that been a 4 on 4 battle (in this case 8).

However, since the match was started as a ten-on-ten, you do not get and credit for it being a reward battle, since it was not half over

If you were sub-reffing the battle, however, take into account the number of rounds, and the amount of people who reffed. If any ref did less than 1/(number of refs) rounds, they get no points. Otherwise, split it down evenly. Round down.

Your reward for being an approved ref depends on the rank your in and thus the amount of battles you need to complete in order to claim a reward. In the case of a DQ or forfeit, the battle has to be at least half completed (ex: if there is a DQ in a 4 on 4, at least 2 Pokemon have to have been knocked out in order for you to use it as a reward link). When you have reached the required amount, please post links to all the battles, and the Head Ref will then approve your prize. This is the battle amount each rank needs to complete before coming to the head ref:

Things to Consider

- Try our ASB Movelist to check on moves.
- Remember that we ASB mods like to set you up, so read and ref carefully!
- Take all stats into consideration.

-------------------

Safari Zone Refs

Any approved ASB Ref can sign up as a Safari Zone ref and can take on anybodies quests. Safari Zone refs will be PMed with a list of what Pokémon can be found in what areas and told instructions on how to ref the Zone.

Please do not hassle any Safari Refs. They may refuse to ref for you.

For every five rounds of Safari Quests reffed, a Safari Ref will get 2 points. These can not be used in conjunction with Referee Rewards but still need to be shown in the Bank when payment is received.

Ranks:

Head Safari Zone Refs
DarkestLight, Greyfox, MeLoVeGhOsTs

Safari Zone Refs
Ayeun, BTPoke, Crazy Elf Boy, Cynder, Gigya, Oslo, Perfect Chaos, RaZoR LeAf, Rossymore

Pleased be advised, however, that at this present moment in time, we are looking for Safari Zone referees.

Contest Judges

Now that Contests are flourishing in ASB, it has come to my attention that we should have people who are able to ref contests asides from myself (DarkestLight). More information on Contests is here (http://www.pokemasters.net/forums/index.php?topic=42768.0).

Just like with battles, to be an approved Contest Judge you must ref a mock battle. See below for the Mock Contest and post here in this Tower to get your Mock Contest checked. There will be similar (albeit condensed) ranks for Judges as much of it is down to opinion and personal takes on things.* Again, check below. This Mock Contest will, like Battles, be updated to ensure you can gain promotion.

Any questions PM DarkestLight. Remember, if, when reffing a Contest, you do not think a combo is feasible, then you are in your right to say that a combo would not work. (E.g., Thunderbolt and Flamethrower together, you get the picture. Or something just mind-boggling) If any arguments occur PM me and I shall determine whether or not the attack combo could be pulled off.

A reffed Contest can go in your reffing status just like any other reffing. You can use it towards your reffing quota. Point prizes and such are all in the link above.

Current Mock Contest

Please ref this contest. For those wondering how, you simply type out how the attacks are seen/work in the contest. See the current and past Pokemon Contests for any pointers. Ref the attacks, how well they work (for example, using thrash may over-excite the Pokemon, or something may go unplanned) and give it a score out of 10.00 for each Coordinator/Trainer.

NEW MOCK CONTEST

The Arena: A shoreline dotted with red rocks.

Punk Rock Oslo and Baseline!![F]

"Well now. A nice day to sing a ballad of ROCK. First Baseline, use Seed Bomb in a line. Then, while they strike the ground, evade them with Agility. As their little explosions litter the field, use Acid spray to quell the seeds of rebellion!

Postal Worker Cynder and Papercut[M]
http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/bw/511.png
"Beach! Fun! First, run to the water and use Magical Leaf. When the leaves hit the water, run across them with your Acrobatics. When you run out of leaves..well yer gonna fall! Use Fury Swipes to feign that you can't swim and need help before going under!! "

*

Activist firepokemon and Picketsign[F]
http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/bw/303.png
"This beach must be preserved! Quick, Picket! Use Magnet rise so you don't soil the sand, then use Ancient Power to reveal the ancient rock that much be protected, and use Grass Knot to wrap around the stones to show they're loved by the environment.

NOTES

Remember not all appeals are big flashy colorful attacks. They are about showcasing a Pokemon’s personality and character. If, for example, a Pokemon is sinister and creepy, and the appeal gives that effect, give it a good mark!

In light of that, appeals that combine different colors or moods should also receive some credit. But physical appeals, which are rare in contests, should still receive credit even if they’re not flashy. Also consider the Arena, and the feasibility of the attacks ordered. Are all the components there for such an appeal?

If for example, you saw a Rapidash racing along showing impeccable speed, flames trailing behind it…it’s beautiful, no? Or if a Mightyena used roar, it’s scary, and focuses on its characteristics.

These are useful pointers for budding Judges.
--

Point allocation for Contests is as follows:

4 participants - 6 points
6 participants - 9 points
8 participants - 12 points
etc.

For every participant in the contest, the judge will receive 1.5 points (rounded down) when the contest is complete, while the winner will receive that same amount. In addition to the points, however, the judge will also receive a reward based on their ranking.

However, because they are receiving this reward, they are no longer entitled to use the Contest towards their normal reffing rewards.

Rewards:

Application for Experienced Ref level position. However, I understand if you want me to take another one, as this one seemed relatively easy.

Round (last round + 1)

Team Bob vs Team Abraham
Rastafarian – Zombie

MeLoVeGhOsTs demanded flavor text, so he got it:
FLAVOUR FLAVOUR FLAVOUR FLAVOUR FLAVOUR FLAVOUR FLAVOUR

[Safeguard] --- [Lock on, Poison]

Calm mind ~ Metal claw ~ Focus Punch --- Moonlight ~ Counter ~ Facade

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Round (last round + 1) begins with both Marley and Deadmau5 taking a moment to draw inner strength. While Marley gains a bonus to his/her fighting form, Deadmau5 recovers some of the lost health.
(Marley: - 5 en, +1 SpA/SpD) --- (Deadmau5: + 15 hp, - 10 en)
Marley lashes out with his/her claws of steel, and although Abraham directed him/her to counter the attack, Deadmau5 just doesn’t seem to know how to do that.
(Marley: - 5 en) --- (Deadmau5: - 5 hp)
Marley tightens his/her focus, preparing to hit Deadmau5 with all his/her might. Deadmau5 counters the attack with a facade, showing off the pains of being poisoned. Marley looses his/her focus, which is a good thing, considering the attack would have just passed right through Deadmau5.
(Marley: - 15 hp, - 10 en) --- (Deadmau5: - 10 en)
Deadmau5 takes a hit from the poison damage, but this battle is far from over.
(Deadmau5: - 5 hp)
Alright, after much deliberation, I am pleased to announce that Ayeun has been promoted from Intermediate to Experienced! She joins the ranks of Dan and Rossymore!
Also, coming February 1st, I'm going to start a house cleaning, of sorts, with the current list of referees. Anyone not currently active (aside from those who have posted in the Absence Tower) will be removed from the list. If you have an asterisk (*) next to your name, please be advised...
Alright, everyone sitting down? All the ref requests have been filled? Good.
Alright, because it's February and because we have only a small handful of refs, I've decided to, just for the time being, start a promotion. Anyone who applies (and succeeds) to become a ref starting today will earn a Shard. Three of which, when brought together, will make a coveted Token!
In addition, I've made an adjustment for the ref rewards, so feel free to check 'em out!
(III)33HP---(IIIIIIIIII)100HP
Round (some number)
Roger sends out a gray golem, which lands on the ground causing a minor tremor. Tomb starts to realize that It will have to buy some time and starts to cry crocodile tears. The golem though remains steady, not effected by the fake tears. (TOMB -3PP). Big O starts to charge up a force inside it, and heaves it weight at Tomb, causing some pretty good damage to the sarcophagus. (TOMB -8HP, BIG O -5PP) Upon impact, strands of paper come out of Tomb and covers Big O. The giant seems undaunted and unaware to the change though. (Big O@Mummy)
Tomb starts to be irked about it's failure and tries to set up a barrier of energy, but It's nonexistant muscles start to heave up preventing it from concentrating. Big O on the flipside starts to churn out some copies of itself. (Big O 3+ copies, -6PP)
To make things worse for Tomb, Big O blasts an inky shade of darkness at Tomb. Tomb realizes that this is it for it, but it refuses to go alone! Tomb's shadow slides up to Big O and grabs hold of it's shadow. (TOMB -8PP). The black shade envelops Tomb dealing fatal damage to it. (BIG O -7PP, TOMB -25HP). At this time, Big O starts to feel a large amount of pain, that Destiny Bond drained Big O's health! Both Tomb and Big O faint and land on the ground. Big O's clones subside into oblivion. Wow, Big O's down as quickly it came.
Alright, first and foremost, Night Shade did waaaay too much damage. I know it's SE and all, but 25HP is just heavy. I'll approve you as a Rookie Ref for now, but just try to scale down your damage output from here on out, aye? Oh, and curiously -- why did Fake Tears fail?
Golurk's No Guard means that it is battle-focused, so it would not really care for Fake Tears. It is also more mechanical than other Pokemon, so I assume that it wouldn't bother caring emotions.
This is my first time so heregoes nothing,
Round 1 TOMB VS. BIG O
Roger sends out a bizarre colored Golurk, which lands on the ground causing a small earthquake. Tomb looks up at the looming creature and starts to cry Krokorok tears( or are they?) The grey giant simply stares down at Tomb unaffected by the fake tears( Big O -4pp)
Tomb then realizing that crying isn't going to solve anything charges up for a night Shade, but Big O who has other plans hurls it's full weight at the sarchopogus inflicting major damage (Tomb -15hp) at once bands of papyrus unfurl from the sarchophogus and wrap around Big O(Big O@Mummy) Undaunted by it's predicament the colossal golem Throws a huge punch at Tomb, Tomb counters with a fully charged Night Shade dealing a large blow to Big O (Big O -25hp Tomb -2pp Tomb -12hp) Big O stumbles allowing Tomb to land a fatal night shade
TOMB sneered at the opponent trainer, daring him to send out his next pokemon. His last pokemon was a cinch to defeat, so why wouldn't his next one be the same? The haunted coffin couldn't have been more wrong though, because from the red and white sphere that ROGER SMITH threw into the air emerged a huge ghostly robot, also known as a golurk.
~~~
Upon the sight of BIG O, TOMB burst into tears. These crocodile tears had very little effect on the golurk however, and it just stared down it's body in contempt. (-2 NRG TOMB) BIG O then closed its' eyes and started to glow silver before slamming its' arm down with incredible force onto the coffin, causing its' fake tears to become real. (-7 NRG BIG O, -12 HP TOMB)
~~~
After the last excersion, BIG O paused for a second allowing TOMB to set up a safeguard against all possible status conditions. (+ Safeguard TOMB, - 3 NRG TOMB) After catching its' breath BIG O's joints creaked before it seemingly disappeared, replaced by 5 exact doppelgangers that surrounded TOMB and the various barrels on the ship. (- 6 NRG BIG O, + 4 Doppelgangers)
~~~
After glowing slightly, TOMB siezed up with paralysis which foiled its' attempts to attack. (-1 NRG) BIG O took the opportunity to attack and each of the doppelgangers' eyes suddenly went blank, scaring the fatigued TOMB out of its' wits. (- 12 HP TOMB, - 10 NRG BIG O)

Since Grey is a bit busy, I'm gonna go ahead and take this one.

Cynder, a good battle overal. You took in account Fake Tears, which could be troublesome on a genderless, emotionless robot-ghost like this fella here. I like that. I would say the EN of Nightshade was a bit high, but it was a nice deal of damage too so that kinda makes up for it. I repeat, overal a good reffing: approved as a rookie ref, go get'm!

Cynder
13th April 2011, 04:30 PM
Ooh yay, I'm now a ref! I made the EN so high because that's pretty much what the move list said was maximum I think, and I flipped a coin to choose how much damage to do and how much energy to expend to make it fair. ^^;

MeLoVeGhOsTs
14th April 2011, 03:04 AM
I always tend to go by the power of the games. Like -9/10 HP for Icebeam 'cuz it's 95 damage in the games, etc. And the movelist ofcourse for exceptions like Dynamicpunch, Amnesia, etc.

Still, you can do as you please, have your own reasons for this or that. That's no problem. Just make sure you can explain them to the battlers if they ask any questions:D

Ready! Set! FIGHT!

So it looks to me like Big O just got sent out after Tomb bested someone. So im gonna play it like that. Big O, a mighty and gargantuan golem type monster, shiny and everything, literally not one dent in his status, glares at the ghastly tomb pokemon. Cofagrigus, otherwise known as Tomb, aint doin so hot. Its health is down there and the energy is adequate. The previous pokemon must have been hitting it hard.

Anywho, Tomb goes right ahead and starts thing off with, wait... nevermind, Tomb tried to attack but couldnt even move. [Paralyzed - Tomb] Big O knew his duty. He dropped his right shoulder and took a dead on charge at Tomb. With every step it look like he became more and more dense with a sickening metallic glow. The noise that was made when Big O hit was even more disturbing. Tomb when flying over the side of the ship. Luckily for Tomb, it just hovered its way back over to the ship, dripping with salt water. But now because the big Golem-mon made contact, Tomb closed its eyes and started to make a noise. Big O was wondering what was happening until he felt his ability change within him. He now felt more dead, matching Tomb. [-15 HP - Tomb][-6 EN - Big O - Ability Change to Mummy]

Tomb wasnt very happy or nuthin. It figured that he didnt want his day to be any worse and the only way that could happen is if the big oaf inflicted him with status. So he put up a Safegaurd. Then it opened its eyes and instead of one golem, there were now four standing in front of him, leaving absolutely no room on the ship! [Tomb - -3 EN - Safegaurded]

Tomb had no idea what to do. All it knew was that it was going to die really soon. It looked into its arsenal and whipped out a trump card that could work. Tomb closed its eyes again and sent subtle ghost energy over to Big O. Big O felt linked, like connected to Tomb. Like brothers in the middle of war, fighting side by side. If Tomb died, Big O knew he would too. Big O's clones went away, for Tomb nailed the true Golurk with great luck. Big O put that out of his mind very quickly. This time he closed his eyes and Tomb made a noise of pure pain that signified his end. All of a sudden though, Big O roaored a mechanical roar and the thought of that link came back into his mind. Tomb bested him. Both pokemon fell, smashing against the deck of the ship.

Round 2

http://pokerealm.com/images/sprites/bw/229.pnghttp://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/bw/592.png

Chaos and Reachout
Hex - Constrict - Night Shade

--------
Reachout floats over the city, tiny compared to Gojira's stature, but with his trainer running about helping people, he alone must stop this brute. A flash bang of shadows and a crackle of ghostly energy buzzes in the sky above Gojir'as head, disorientating him and causing him to stumble, crushing a car in his stupor. Tendrils of energy appear from nowhere to wrap around his arms and legs, preventing him from doing any further damage, and the hold him tightly to one spot. The beast roars, but darkness fills his eyes as night seems to come early, and his vision blurs as his mind is boggled by otherworldly forces. Wrapped tightly, the beast falls unconscious, but is held up by the constricting tentacles.
--------
Result

Reachout did a fine job of holding Gojira in place and subduing him, even if the early mistake resulted in a car being crushed. Luckily it was abandoned, but that kind of mistake could have been costly.
Final Score 8.2

http://pokerealm.com/images/sprites/bw/197.pnghttp://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/bw/542.png
Wolfsong and Singalong
Struggle Bug - Flash - False Swipe
--------
Wolfsong hurries people out of the dangerzone whilst Singalong stands firmly in the beasts way. Gojira has no qualms about attacking, and a powerful laser breath engulfs Singalong. He waltzes through the attack, using the might of it to boost his own skills. He releases a blinding flash of light that leaves Gojira unable to see, and the great dinosaur waves manically at the lights in his line of sight. Using this to his advantage, Singalong leaps into the air and slashes across Gojira's body over and over, leaving the creature with barely enough strength to carry on. Gojira falls against a building, but has enough energy left to hang there, without falling through it completely.
--------
Result
It was touch and go when that laser Breath hit, but Singalong proved he had what it took to bring the beast down. Leaving it with enough energy to stay up was a good choice, as a collapsing sea monster could have taken out an entire block.
Final Score 9.0
http://pokerealm.com/images/sprites/bw/195.png http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/bws/637.png
C~Dub and Mothra
Quiver Dance - Hurricane - Hyper Beam
--------
C~Dub runs around screaming incoherrant phrases as the brilliant Mothra takes to the skies. Gojira eyes up his old foe, as the giant moth performs a beautiful dance in the sky, using sparkling lights and various spores to amaze and bewilder Gojira. From the looks of it, the monster is enraged more than enticed, and it lets out a powerful roar that causes windows to shatter and rain down on the people below. Faced with an enemy like this, Mothra flaps its wings hard and summons a powerful tornado, that sweeps Gojira off it's feet and tosses it into the ocean, along with two dozen cars and a sushi cart that were nearby. Mothra fires a brilliant Hyperbeam, that luckily slams into the back of Gojira's surfacing head, knocking the pokemon out and forcing it to sink into the deep.
--------
Result
Oh dear. Gojira was not amused with the sparkly dance, it seemed to take it as a mockery. That Hurricane was a good idea, and it was strong enough to do the job, but the effect it had on the city wasn't within anyone's interests. The collateral damage wont garner many votes.
Final Score 7.5

Results
Round 2

A successful round that resulted in the beast finally being subdued. The property damage caused by Gojira can be repaired using the governments money, but that made by the pokemon during their appeals, has to be paid for by the Pokemasters League. On that note, C~Dub and Mothra netted the lowest score for causing a lot of damage and failing to subdue the beast short of a lucky last shot. Wolfsong and Chaos move on to the next round, C~Dub, you can expect a bill in the post.

For Round 3, the city block is in a mess. You have four moves to clear it up the best you can.

Darth Cookiemonster, you did well. There didn't look to be any major problems with the reffing. Although, Night Shade looks like it did a lot more damage than it should've (18 is very high, even for a super-effective hit), but that's not too big a deal. Promoted to Intermediate.

I'll have a new mock reffing sometime this weekend.

RaZoR_LeAf, although I'm not really sure how to do contest reffings, yours looks legit, so I'm approving you to Beginner Judge.

Also, starting today, the promotion for Tokens has been 86ed. If you've been approved as a ref recently, you still get to keep your shard, and your first match will still result in the rest of them to make the Token. As such, the ref rewards will also go back to normal.

Razor:

Yeah actually..Grey covered it nicely. The thing about Contest reffings as you both know, is not just about flashiness, but about how well the contestants do the "task" at hand, whether its showing off a particular trait of a Pokemon-or completing goal with finesse.

I'll get to changing the Contest to something a little more current, but I agree with Grey. Beginner Judge-but you'll easily shoot up the ranks with clear, impartial reffings like those.

Welcome back to round ?, let’s see what both Pokemon and there trainers have in store for us today on.. this.. very.. rocky.. boat.. excuses me...*bwal* back!

Big O opens the round be tossing itself into the air and Tomb counters just in time with a fake tear! Big O feels sorry for TOMB but continues his attack. Big O Slams down right on TOMB and creates a crater here on the top deck! thank gosh he didn't bust threw, with all that force! Big O starts to feel a transformation in his ability's.

TOMB -28hp -3energy
Big O -6energy (ability changed mummy) -2sp.def

Big O starts to split into 5copies using its double team. (6clones) using what little energy TOMB has left he crawls out the crater and creates a special barrier around him.

TOMB (safeguarded) -4energy
Big O -8energy (five copies)

Big O and his five copies attempt to finish the battle by sending out night shades, yet TOMB seems to have a small amount of hope. For he starts glowing a deep purple and for a second try’s to pull off a move, its paralyzation seems to have been too much for TOMB. It is then that he is struck by the malevolent attack; therefore, knocked out cold. However something strange is happening here on deck Big O's copies are diapering! Whats This Big O just turned very faint and collapsed! it seams TOMB's Safeguard allowed it to pull of its Destiny bond!!

Neo It looks like Tomb's paralysis kept him from moving on the third action, which is fine. But why even then did his Destiny Bond go on despite said paralysis? From what I understand, you said that it's because his safeguard was up -- but safeguard doesn't protect you from pre-existing status ailments, just new ones. This is a pretty major issue here.

Neo

Neo It looks like Tomb's paralysis kept him from moving on the third action, which is fine. But why even then did his Destiny Bond go on despite said paralysis?
this was because of safeguard's nullification effect, which was misunderstood on my part.

also he starts purple then glows yellow, if the effect was as i thought, then i should have had him turn back purple or something else to signify that the paralysis was nullified.

"any status effects or confusion that would normally affect the user are generally nullified for a certain amount of time."

i read the Quote above and thought paralysis would be deemed null. therefore, i was under belief that this status condition would be deemed as such, as it did not exempt per existing conditions.

90% of the moves have not changed. 10% of moves that have changed
and i read this so i also assumed it was one of the few moves changed.

I do apologize for my misunderstanding, and thank you for you time and review.

o.O That's...interesting. I never thought that Safeguards' wording was ill prepared. I gotta fix that.

Also Neo. This is going to sound weird, but when you read the movelist, think of the anime first-then think of the games. Then when you read the list, you'll be able to better judge how the attack works. But I'll reword Safeguard since that confused you. Thank you for bringing that point up.

The sheer surprise of the attack ruins Samurai's concentration that he was working hard on! As he pouts, a lightning strike falls from the sky and zaps Darwin! Well, lightning DOES strike the highest object nearby. (Samurai -4HP flinched, Darwin -3PP -7HP)

Darwin shakes off the pain from the electricity and goes for another punch, but gets punched by Samurai beforehand! Did he just copy what she just did? Darwin looks at Samurai, somewhat baffled. (Samurai -3PP, Darwin -5HP flinched)

She deals a punch at Samurai, coupled with his low defence deals more damage then what was orignally thought, but his low stamina kicks in a abyssal force that rested in him! Round 4897

The two trainers stared at each other with crazy eyes, this battle had lasted nearly a year and they were still on their first Pokémon. It were almost as if it were an example battle set up to test referees, however, that is a ridiculous suggestion. If anything, the extended battle meant that they were really crap trainers really good trainers and have a great ability to keep a battle going for almost 5000 rounds.

Kicking off the round, Darwin rose to his feet. That last round really did damage and now she was down to half of her previous health! Letting out an extremely loud roar, she stomped her feet twice and ran towards Samurai. Holding her palms out, ready to smack the living Kenneth out of that Otter, she did so clapping her palms together against the otter's face.

9% damage done

Darwin:
-6 ENG

Samurai flinched, scrunching his face up and falling back onto his arse. He couldn't move! Something about those leathery, rough palms smacking against his face made him freeze up. His face still scrunched up, he rubbed his face and scrambled back onto his feet. Once he was back on his feet and his eyes open, he could see that Darwin was already preparing her next move.

Samurai:
Flinched

Darwin laughed a Samurai's antics, if this was how her opponents were going to act, then she had no problem with the rest of the battle. Pulling her fist back, still standing right in front of Samurai, her fist began to glow bright white. Her muscles twitched and tensed as she charged her punch. Taking a step forwards, she punched down, hitting Samurai on the top of his head. And, just for a moment, both of the Pokémon were engulfed in a bright, white light as energy from one was transferred into the other.

8% damage done

4% damage healed

Darwin:
-8 ENG

Samurai cringed, but didn't react as badly as he did the previous attack. Pushing himself back up onto his feet, he stared Darwin right in the eyes and winked. Suddenly, Samurai was encased in a faint, white light. The white aura separating from him and creating a Darwin clone out of light. Slinging his arm back, Samurai's Darwin clone mimicked what he was doing. Punching down onto the floor, the Darwin clone also did so, punching Darwin in the snout. All three of them were encased in a bright white light as energy from Darwin was transferred into Samurai. When the light faded, the Darwin clone was gone. Samurai looked healthier.

24% damage done.

12% damage healed.

Samurai:
-12 ENG (Copycat + Drain Punch)

Darwin fell back a little and brushed the damage off of her. Man that was an odd interpretation of Copycat. Stabling herself, she roared. This was going to be her last resort. Her last stand, her final impression. In the future, generations of people who hadn't even been born yet would judge her on this last attack. Closing her eyes tight and clenching her hands into fists, her entire body began to charge and glow a white glow, the intensity of the glow increasing with the amount of time she charged. Opening her eyes, she roared as the power flew out of her a huge orb of light travelling across the arena and hitting samurai.

8% damage done.

Darwin:
-20 ENG (I imagine it would do this based on its power to PP chart)

Samurai grinned, for a move of such climactic imagery, it did hardly anything. His triumphant grin slowly morphed into an arrogant grin as he pulled off both of the hip-residing shells. While they looked thick and clunky, they were actually razor sharp. So sharp in fact that they glistened in the sun, aiming at Darwin, Samurai threw one of the shells, it striking Darwin in the eye, leaving a deep cut. Darwin fell back and roared! However, there was still the second shell. He chucked it similar to how he had done with the first, it striking Darwin's leg and knocking her onto her knees. However, this damage was sufficient enough to knock her out!

18% damage done

This attack would have lowered Darwin's defence (I did the roll, forgetting that it knocked her out)

Samurai:
-7 ENG

DL sighed and pressed the button, converting Darwin into binary and storing her as energy. Samurai had won, after 4897 rounds.

Samurai, was not out of this battle yet, feeling very annoyed and jealous of the huge strength and power of Darwin's moves, she decides that he needs to get a taste of his own medicine. She sprints up to Darwin with intense concentration and punches him right in the center of the ridiculous grin on his face. That's better, she thinks to herself, now he knows what it feels like.
(-18hp Darwin, -4pp Samurai, +8hp Samurai)

*~~~*

Even with Samurai's last sneak attack, Darwin still feels full of energy and ready to retaliate. The storm is raging with strong winds blowing across the clearing, Darwin runs toward Samurai and using the wind to his advantage he uses his tail to launch the small Pokemon high into the air. Samurai is flung onto the other side of the clearing with a loud thud being herd as she hits the ground.
(-10hp Samurai, -15pp Darwin)

Samurai uses the distance between the two Pokemon to her advantage, running at full speed toward her foe. The rain starts to pour down even heavier and it turns Samurai's fur razor sharp, Samurai realizes this and slams her body into Darwin at full speed. Darwin simply falls to the ground with a loud thud, while Samurai uses the small amount of energy that she has left to jump up with excitement after winning the battle.
(-14hp Darwin, -9pp Samurai)

Alright, as it stands now, both Toucan Sundae and Cutsie Pie are pending approval. You are, essentially, Rookie Referees for now. This is, however, just a probationary thing. I want you both to do next month's Mock Reffing as well, and then I'll be able to judge whether or not to approve you here on in.

New mock reffing will be up no later than August 3rd.

[Edit] Oh, and I forgot to mention -- the points system for contests has been updated in the main post, so be sure to take that into account, contest judges.

just a quick question, does this mean im aloud to ref battles or do i have to wait to be approved after doing the new mock battle?

You can still ref battles. In fact, you could always do that, even if you weren't approved.

Fake Out ~ Drain Punch ~ Trump Card

This battle is heating up, despite the pouring rain, folks, as Samurai and Darwin stare each other down, both competitors looking quite beat.

Samurai takes a deep breath and centers himself, beginning a ritualistic dance, with his shell-blades as part of the show. Darwin takes this opportunity to attack, hoping to catch Samurai off guard. The Dewott ends his dance before gaining any benefit, deftly darting beneath the Kangaskhans fist...only to be surprised by the tail! It seems Darwin isn't fighting fair!

Samurai
31/51 (7% STAB dmg, 4% fatigue)
Darwin
32/67 (0% damage, 5% fatigue)

Samurai continues to concentrate, Kangaskhan throwing another straight jab, pulsing with energy. This time, however, it's Samurai's turn to fight dirty, as he socks Darwin in the jaw, but not before the punch can connect, though merely a glancing blow, not recovering much (if any) energy.

Samurai
23/41 (8% dmg, 10% fatigue *copycat + fakeout*)
Darwin
22/62 (14% dmg, 4% HP, 5% fatigue)

The battlers are definitely looking a bit worse for the wear after the last few rounds. The next volley of attacks starts with Kangaskhan releasing a trumpeting roar, followed by a devastating overhead strike! She might be able to finish Samurai off soon at this rate. Samurai, however, has a different plan. He unsheathes his shell blades and lunges at Darwin! With the speed of a Swellow, Darwin feels the blades hit their mark, as well as the last bits of her health slowly trickle away. Darwin put up a good fight, but Samurai is the winner!

Samurai
12/33 (11% STAB dmg, 7% fatigue)
Darwin
0/49 (22% STAB/Rain/Torrent dmg, 13% fatigue)

Alright, Classtoise, I finally got around to this one. I like the damage explanations in your post, and it looks like you got everything in order -- Copycat copying Fake-Out was not expected though, but it works out.

I'm interested to see how you'll do in an actual match, so for right now, you're approved as a Rookie Ref.

I'll take a look at that battle of yours soon.

We have barely any refs as it is and most of the ones we have are currently absent or just don't feel like taking on matches. Since my reffing slate is full, I can't pick up your battle.

Also, it's been two weeks and one day... not three.

Class, I understand you're frustrated because your battle hasn't been reffed, but you hafta learn to be more patient. This is the time of year where activity wanes to a near-halt because of school. It's unfortunate, but there's not much that can really be done about it.

The refs who are active at this point in time are pretty overworked -- Oslo, Darkly, and myself are all teetering on 9+ battles at the moment, and that's not including the safari zone quests that we've taken on either.

Confusion ~ Rain Dance ~ [B]Hydro Pump

We begin the next round with the sun shining, strengthening Charizard, whilst Blastoise looks on with slight discomfort. With a roar, Charizard flies at Blastoise and grabs it by the water cannons. With a grunt of effort, it spins Blastoise around once, twice, three times before letting go and Blastoise flies into large wall surrounding the arena. This is why you don't get front row seats.
Blastoise gets up and shakes its head, feeling hurt. It gets back into position and its eyes begin to glow blue and a wave of rippled air heads towards Charizard.
"OBJECTION" the ref with amazing hair cries and his Wobbuffet leaps into action, shimmering a brilliant pink and lands between the opponents, facing Blastoise. The psychic energy is reflected back to it and Blastoise grunts in pain, feeling this is not been a good round.

*Atk +2*

http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/9/96/Ani009MS.png: -20% health, -4% energy

Charizard is still raring to go and, swooping in quick, blasts powerful fire from its mouth, boosted by the sun and by the ability it possesses. Charizard feels a slight pain as it completes its attack. Maybe that was too much power. Blastoise cries out over the intense power of the flames and feels a lingering pain on its chest. Ooh, that's a nasty burn Blastoise has got there. But that's not going to stop him do a little dance, making Charizard raise an eyebrow. Through the dance, Blastoise creates a large ball that rises up and unfurls into a large blue film, high in the sky. The film blots out the sun and produces rain which falls down onto the field. Blastoise grins, now its in a much better predicament.

*Atk +2*

http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/9/96/Ani009MS.png: -10% health, -10% energy
*Brn, Atk -3*

Charizard still goes for the first strike, continuing to hammer on the opponent. From its mouth comes flames of the lovely dark blue variety, which engulf Blastoise, causing even more pain. It goes down on one knee, then gets back up, feeling a bit better. It grins, then lowers its water cannons. Charizard sees this and swallows as a large volley of water comes blasting its way. Charizard is slammed hard by this and hits the ground with a loud thud. Charizard gets up, slowly, feeling quite batterered whereas Blastoise gets a bit of HP recovery. Lovely. Though the burn still smarts.

Not grading. 2 Questions.

1) Why in the world do you have so many color tags?

2) The style you implement is a sight for sore eyes. However, what happened to the Blastoise sprite?

Rossymore
30th January 2012, 11:11 AM
Not sure about the colour tags but I only see them during editing, but I can see my way around, but this is the colour I've always used, just using a few others to just making it more interesting. I like the purple as it's a nice colour for my eyes. Not good with bright ones.
Also, fixed the Blastoise sprite and things should be fine now.

Greyfox
30th January 2012, 11:43 AM
Alright, Rossy, I've taken a look and I'm gonna hafta unfortunately deny your request to move up, for a few reasons --

1. The damage from Hydro Pump was very high. I know there's STAB, rain, and a weakness going on, but no attack should go over 25HP damage except for very certain circumstances (like Explosion/Self Destruct from a pokemon with full health).

2. Burn -- the effects of burn are way too high (10HP damage per round *and* -3 Attack?) -- you should lessen them greatly. Those stats make it way too broken.

3. Refer to your PMs for the last one.

Rossymore
30th January 2012, 11:57 AM
Alrighty then, for a weakness, the damage is doubled, which I should stop doing, though I may have added up wrong and it should be around 20-22.
Not sure where I got the burn from, as I was trying to remember what I did before about burns. I now remember it was 3% instead of 10 and the -3 Atk comes from the fairly large burn, which also makes the damage slightly lower, but would also be counteracted by Rain Dish.
And an Egg Move from G/S? A move it cannot legitimately learn in-game anymore? That's...obscure.

You should have made it use Zap Cannon.

Hello all you Pokemon fans out there and welcome back to the final battle in the pokemon leauge tournament this promises to be a hot one folks as the battlers eye each other testily, they have taken damage in previous battles but still look no worse for wear

Charizard starts off by grabbing Blastoise and flying up as high as he can for a seismic toss [-5PP Char] but this turtle is having none of that and releases a psychic wave, forcing the fire pokemon to let go [-6pp Blast/-8Hp Char] and of course he realizes too late that he came free in midair [-7Hp Blast] the power of the sun shines brightly on Charizard allowing him to trade his health for his attack boost [-5Hp Char]

Blast then starts a tribal dance to summon some rain [-7PP Blast] Charizard, realizing that his sun is starting to fade, attempts to stop this by heating the ground around Blastoise[-6PP Char] Blastoise finishes his dance just as the heat reaches him[-8Hp Blast/-2Atk Char/Weather-Rain] Blastoise uses his ability to absorb health from the water [+5Hp Blast]

Decidedly mad at losing his sun Charizard directs his rage at Blastoise [-6PP Char/-5Hp Blast], using the new energy coursing through him Blastoise decides to meet him in kind with a powerful hydro-pump from the water cannons on its back which cuts straight through the dragonish rage scoring a critical hit on the fiery lizard [-10PP Blast/-20Hp Char]

‡ Round 1 Appeals ‡

Good day, ladies and gentleman, and welcome to… some beach somewhere! Huzzah! As the sun beats down upon us, a chipper crowd of beach-dwellers gather to watch three esteemed trainers Coordinators duke it out make flouncy little displays of pretty Pokemon moves. Today, we are joined by a devilishly handsome punk rocker named Oslo as well as Cynder and Firepokemon, but nobody cares about those two, amirite? Anyway, let's randomize the order for the appeals and then begin!

Cynder and Papercut, her cheeky little Pansage, are the first to go! As his trainer gives orders, Papercut enthusiastically sprints into the water and casts out an array of shimmering leaves. The crowd murmurs in delight at the colourful display. As the leaves settle upon the surf, Papercut leaps out of the water and starts bouncing and cartwheeling across the makeshift stepping stones. What grace! What agility! However, the display takes a sudden turn as the monkey tumbles into the shallows and starts swiping desperately at the water. The crowd seems mildly startled by what looks to be a drowning monkey but, when they realize it’s all part of the show, they begin clapping. In fact, they look quite impressed!

Firepokemon and Picketsign the Mawile will make the next appeal. Picketsign begins to rise up off the sand, levitating for all to see, which garners a few oohs and ahhs from the onlookers. Picketsign then wiggles her fingers as though casting a spell, which causes a glistening red rock to rise up out of the sand. As the crowd eagerly awaits what comes next, Picketsign floats over to some of the smaller rocks along the shore and begins affectionately wrapping them up with blades of grass. A few onlookers start scratching their heads in confusion but several others offer applause for the appeal.

Oslo and Baseline step up to deliver the final appeal of the round. Baseline spits out a series of tiny seedlings that begin to burst and smoke, which causes the crowd to gasp and murmur in anticipation. However, here’s where everything starts to go south. Baseline tries to use her natural Agility to weave in and out of the exploding seeds, but her attempt to use an attack she can’t naturally learn causes her to fall flat on her face. As the Seed Bombs continue to go off around her, causing mild damage, Baseline pulls herself up and tries to quell the explosions with a splash of acid. The seeds stop, but the reaction causes a noxious purple gas to waft toward the crowd, who shield their faces and cough in reaction. Um. Well, that could have perhaps gone better.

‡ Round 1 Scores ‡

Cynder and Papercut: The crowd thoroughly enjoyed the little show you put on! The Magical Leaf added a flashy touch while the Acrobatics allowed Papercut to show off his natural monkey-like nimbleness. You made good use of your surroundings, though you did briefly freak out the crowd with the feigned drowning. Chalk it up to Papercut for being such a good thespian, I suppose. Nonetheless, the crowd clued in after not too long, so your score wasn’t severely affected. Overall, a successful appeal. 8.5 / 10

Firepokemon and Picketsign: You did a good job of executing your moves, but I’m not entirely sure the eco-friendly narrative was conveyed as effectively as it could have been. Some of the crowd members got what you were going for but others simply saw Picketsign hovering, excavating a rock and hog-tying stones with bits of grass—which doesn’t exactly scream “environmental activist” to me. That said, the onlookers who understood where you were going with your appeal enjoyed it quite a bit. 7.5 / 10

Oslo and Baseline: Eek. You guys started off promisingly with the Seed Bomb, but the whole trying-to-use-Agility-when-Arbok-can’t-actually-learn-it thing really didn’t pan out for you. Also, it’s definitely in your best interests not to allow the crowd to see you get injured by your own attack, right? Acid Spray was a risky way to quell the explosions and the nasty fumes really didn’t do you any favours. You would have been better off putting out the Seed Bombs with sand, which would have allowed you to incorporate your environment into your appeal—something that Papercut and Picketsign both did effectively. Better luck next time, you handsome bastard. 3.0 / 10

Hate your prettiness Oslo.lol Ok, the contest descriptions were well worded and nicely displayed. Good catch on Agility there and overall fair rating. I left the theme open to interpretation, so the possibility of low scores could be openly justified by the ref. I think...and its been a while since...but you could start at intermediate judge. We begin this round with the paralysis being filtered out through Vaporeon, due to her ability. This should have happened at the end of last round, but I'm guessing the little amount of rainfall slowed down the filtration slightly. Despite this, he is still slower than Milotic, who starts thrashing about, due to being so experienced in a previous evolution. However, Milotic is not in that bad a situation and the attack loss prevents her from dealing that much damage. Vaporeon rolls his eyes and sends a very muddy rush towards Milotic, impairing her vision slightly.

Milotic starts the next action by drawing in Psychic power to mess with Vaporeon's mind. Funnily enough, Milotic can't learn Psychic, so Wobbuffet comes in to Mirror Coat that bad boy. Vaporeon meanwhile uses Synchronize...which is an ability, so Vaporeon struggles to pass his status onto Milotic. As in, the non-existent status. You may be thinking of Synchronoise, which Vaporeon can learn, though the trainer is quite specific to use Synchronize. Oh, FYI, the rain starts becoming much heavier.

You caught me on Synchronize/Synchronoise. For the longest time, I had thought the attack was Synchronize. Because I overlook things I never plan on using.

But where did the damage come from? It's not really clear if it's from Vaporeon or from Wobbuffett...

Rossymore
17th April 2012, 02:06 PM
After Milotic uses Psychic, Wobbuffet bounces it back with Mirror Coat. I admit I should have made it clear that Vaporeon didn't attack.

But should the move have actually been Synchronoise? In which case, I should have assumed you meant that, instead of commanding the Pokemon to use an ability.

Speaking of Gen IV, Vaporeon fires a muti-coloured beam at Milotic, which severely messes with her head. Looks like someone got confuzzled. How hilarious and yet that's terrible.

Welcome back ladies and gentlemen to this colossal battle between these two graceful Water-types. The steady light rainfall seems to help refresh Vaporeon, all thanks to his Hydration ability, allowing him to limber up. Milotic, still having the speed advantage, decides to go old school on the Vaporeon and shows him how she did it back as a wee ol' Feebas...by flopping around like an epileptic, doing pitiful damage to Vaporeon, who simply raises an eyebrow (or is that an eye-fin?). Shrugging off the last pathetic attack, Vaporeon sends forth a great tidal wave of earthy water...which also proceeds to do miniscule damage to Milotic but with the added effect of blinding her temporarily!

I welcome you back to this rainy battle in the middle of the Dense Rainforest. Here, we can see our two urgent water Pokemon eyeing nervously their enemy. The wet Vaporeon streches and relaxes his stiff body and recoveres from the status, that was slowing him down. Meanwhile, Milotic wonders for a moment and then crazily bangs her body againts the muddy ground, splashing it all over the place. However she also hits the trees in her way. Vaporeon dodges with his newly gained speed, only stopping to blink. He the lands close enough to the rampaging Milotic and unleashes a powerful wave of dirty water. Poor Milotic gets carried by it, cutting down the trees with her mighty body.

Milotic now embraces and depends on her Psychic powers. Vaporeon flinches a bit, but immediately responds with a great Synchronoise.

Vaporeon lifts his light body and sends down at Milotic a colorful stream. Milotic quickly heaves her own head and again relies on her Psychic powers. She blows out ring-like beams of pink light. Vaporeon lands directly in them and falls asleep, however he managed to hit Milotic with the previously mentioned Signal Beam.

Alright, EraGam, I've looked at your reffing and come to the conclusion that, at this time, you are not approved to be an official referee. You took everything in the mock reffing at face value, and it doesn't appear that you've looked Vaporeon and Milotic's information up at all.

We mods like to throw a few curve balls in every mock reffing, so there will sometimes be a time when the pokemon are ordered to use attacks they can't use. It's up to you to research it to make sure it's accurate, but it looks like you just trusted us entirely.

Remember this for next time, and hopefully you'll be approved.

Milotic kicks off the round by throwing herself wildly at Vaporeon; but didn't seem to do much damage since 64 HP and a -2 attack stat don't amount to much where Flail is concerned.Vaporeon retailates by throwing his paws in the air to summon a wave, which rose from a muddy pool to his left. With a quick flick of his paws he sends the growing wave at Milotic, which sends her flying back and into a tree. She groans as her head hits the ground.

The rain grows heavier towards the end of the round, and Vaporeon finds himself oddly refreshed by the water. He flexes his now paralysis-free joints whilst Milotic readies herself, she pulls herself up and allows some of the rain to collect on her tail paddle, replenishing some of her HP.

In a much better mood now that his paralysis has ebbed away, Vaporeon belts out a song that is quite literally painful to hear. Well, for Milotic at least, since she certainly doesn't look like she'll be cheering for an encore. She simply glares at Vaporeon, willing him to stop singing, but this is to no avail - no matter how intimidating that glare may be, it doesn't give her magical psychic powers. Shame, really - in that case I'd have become a psychic a long time ago.

Yet again, the rain pools onto Milotic's tail fin and replenishes some HP. So the round wasn't completely fruitless for her after all!
Milotic: -7 HP, +2 HP .:. Vaporeon: -6 Energy

***

Annoyed with Milotic's glaring from the previous turn, Vaporeon decides that it's his turn to give an evil stare. But this time, the stare does some damage - in the form of a concentrated beam of energy that fires straight in Milotic's direction. As it hits she seems to go blank for a moment, then moves her head and tail in symphony. This catches Vaporeon's attention and his head bobs along with Milotic's movements, before dropping to the ground, fast asleep.

Just a moment later, Vaporeon awakens - all thanks to that rain, which still hasn't eased off. A rumble comes from Milotic's throat as she looks frustratedly at her trainer - looks like somebody didn't do their research before coming to the battle! As she does so more rain collects on her tail, cleansing her wounds slightly.

So I'm a bit confused on something...do we have to do the new mock reffing in order to be approved as a SZ Ref? Because it stated before that any already approved ref can be made as a SZ Ref but I PM'ed Dark about it and got confused by what he said :confused:

As the faster legendary of the two, Entei the un-nicknamed Entei roars and lets fly a rainbow beam of energy, which hits the poor Lavados like a sitting duck, which it techinically is with gravity is limiting its flight. Not cool bro. It takes the hit admirably well however, and counters by summoning a bunch of fossils from deep under the sand and launcing them at Entei. Apparently lions don't like having rocks thrown at them, as Entei doesn't quite take its hit as easily as Lavados did.
Lavados: -6 Energy, -8 HP.:. Entei: -6 Energy, -10 HP

***

Taking revenge for that earlier assault, Entei takes advantage of Lavados's inability to fly and sprints over and stomps on its foot. Hard. Lavados wails, 436.5lbs of lion on your foot is bound to be painful (especially when that lion has raised attack!), and sends a barricade of stars flying towards Entei; it seems that this battle really is going to be tit-for-tat. Remember kids, revenge isn't always as fun as it may seem.

Towards the end of the action the affects of gravity wear off, allowing Lavados to take to the skies once more. It stretches its wings wide and allows the desert updrafts to carry him back high up into the air, where it belongs.
Lavados: -12 HP, -5 Energy .:. Entei: -6 HP, -6 Energy

***

As Lavados once again takes to the air Entei leaps up to try and bring it back down, but Lavados is simply enjoying the freedom of the air too much to land again. Despite Lavados still being in the air Entei goes ahead and uses Earthquake anyways; but I doubt that scare tactics like that will work when you're in the air. Lavados swoops down and grabs Entei in its talons, which is quite a feat in itself considering Entei's weight, and uses a little scare tactic of its own. Entei wimpers like a kitten - it much prefers the ground!

Alright, Cyder, after a careful consideration, I've decided to approve you as a Beginner Ref. The energy costs were a little low for my tastes, considering that Entei had Pressure and all, but that's not an overly glaring issue. You also know the other reason--

The majestic bird stomps the ground heavily like a child, whose toy was stolen. It flaps its wings with force but her feet are stuck to the ground. What a bummer. Entei stays on its spot and releases a ray of psychic energy. The Moltres is just fast enough to turn its head and recieve the blow. When its vision clears, the bird gets a view of a lion-like statue erected in its glory. Fear takes over Moltres and it hides under its feathers with shame.
Lavados -9 HP
Entei -6 PP

Lavados, still trapped on the ground, slowly flaps its wings and sends out shinning stars. They hit Entei, but he doesn`t waste time, gets closer to the bird and tries to jump onto Moltres. The crazy gravity pulls the cat down and with a screech he ends up smashing Moltres to the earth. Lavados cries out with the pain. Hopefully it will still be able to fly after this.
Lavados -15 HP, -6 PP
Entei -8 HP

Moltres raises into the sky sand blowing everywhere! Looks like the gravity is back to normal. This time Entei stomps the ground, probably hoping to relieve his anger, since it doesn`t seem to have any effect. The bird dives and heads towards Entei. It all happens so fast, Moltres digs its claws into the helpless kitty and raises with its prey back into the clouds. Pulling up such a heavy lion sure takes away a lot of energy.

Hm... I do like that you've adapted your own style, Era, but I do have one little qualm with your reffing: the damage from Stomp was a little high. Even with the +2 to Atk, I'd say it would do about 10-12HP damage max.

Notwithstanding, I'm approving you as a Beginner.

The battle here is heating up! I don't know about you, but I'm certainly getting excited! Let's get into the next round of this fearsome encounter!

Turn 1
An almost invisible beam shoots from ENTEI's forehead and goes for LAVADOS! The Moltres tries to get out of the way, but gravity is bearing down too heavily!
Suddenly, however, rocks appear to spring up before LAVADOS! Quickly getting out of the Gravity, the rocks are hurled towards ENTEI! ENTEI is unable to get out of the way in time, and takes several rocks to the face! It didn't like that at all!

[-8 HP; -8 EP /// -14 HP; -5 EP]

Turn 2
ENTEI rushes up and kicks LAVADOS right in the head, which can only lie their due to the intense weight!
LAVADOS doesn't seem to mind too much, though, as it opens its mouth to release several stars that shoot out at ENTEI! ENTEI tries to get away, but they immediately surround it!
LAVADOS feels lighter now!

[-9 HP; -8 EP /// -6 HP; -7 EP]

Turn 3
Seeing LAVADOS try to get up, ENTEI immediately stomps upon the ground, causing it to shake and crack visciously! However, LAVADOS simply lifts far off of the ground before the attack can hit it!
LAVADOS then quickly flies over to ENTEI, grabbing it by the nape and hoisting it skyward!

Ref Notes
Moves spelled wrong are likely spelled that way on purpose for formatting reasons.
Gravity has lifted.

EDIT: After reviewing, noticed that Earthquake cannot be learned by Entei and Swift cannot be learned by Moltres according to bulbapedia! Missed this, at first, but I'll catch this kinda thing in the future.
Of course, its possible the mock trainers could've taught these to their pokemon through other means. Which is why I'm saying this in an edit footnote rather than replacing the move text.

Mew Master

Did you check all of the Generation Movelists to check that edit of yours? I'm pretty sure Moletres can learn Swift via TM from Gen 1....

Gigya
25th May 2012, 09:11 PM
I double checked individual moves.
Triple checking now, yes, Moltres can learn it from TM 39 in gen 1.
However, Entei seems in no way able to learn Earthquake through normal means, meaning it would have had to learn it through some form of tutoring here.

Hello and welcome back to our exciting installment of glorified chicken fights Pokemon Battling! Let's get back to the action in the hot sands of this intense desert!

The legendary bird Lavados continues to try to flap her wings to get up into the sky, but the gravity of the situation is too much for her. She instead decides to plant both her feet into the ground and call upon the ancient spirits that inhabit the rich sands of this very desert to levitate some nearby rocks into the air.
Lavados then throws these rocks toward the Legendary Beast Entei, but Entei has been ready for such an attack. While Lavados was getting her rocks ready, Entei had been charging a rainbow-colored beam of energy (with red being the color that shows up the most), and he fires the glorious beam of energy toward Lavados to intercept the ancient rocks. The rainbow beam of energy crushes some rocks and manages to strike Lavados in the wing, but that has only slightly weakened the force of both attacks as the remaining rocks continuously strike Entei for super effective damage.

Sadly, the ancient spirits that helped Lavados conjure that onslaught of rocks leave her almost instantly, seemingly glad to be free once more.
[Lavados: -8 health -8 energy ¦ Entei: -10 health -5 energy ¦ Gravity: One more turn]

For her next trick, Lavados conjures up a ring of stars. Before she can shoot them at Entei, however, Entei runs up to the giant bird and Stomps her and the stars to the ground, getting grazed by a few of them. Being the frail bird it truly is compared to the big not-so-red dog, this hurts Lavados quite a bit.
[Lavados: -12 health -7 energy ¦ Entei; -4 health -10 energy]

And, just like that, a huge weight is lifted from Lavados' shoulders, and she shoots up into the air with a caw of delight.
[Gravity has lifted]

Entei starts off this round by stomping the ground, causing numerous rocks to jut out to create a maddening quake of terror in an attempt to hit lavados, who merely flies up into the air to easily dodge. Real productive, trainer. Lavados watches him waste energy with pity before shooting up into the air, plucking entei off of the ground in her talons (Ugh, he's pretty heavy), flying high up into the air, and watching in pure satisfaction as the big bad entei whimpers like a little puppy.

Depending on the ref, switching out a pokemon can take either one or two actions (it's generally accepted that it takes two actions to switch out pokemon).

With all the new moves that use Switching, its now too imbalanced to have a pokemon loss due to switching.

Okay, I should probably say something before it gets too out of hand, but everyone's noticed that I haven't reffed anything in weeks. Fact of the matter is, I have just lost interest in reffing. I knew this would happen since coming to university as my free time is decreasing more and more and I hoped to end it better then this, but oh well.

I would therefore like to withdraw from my position as Master Ref and feel guilty with all the chaos this creates. I'm not leaving the ASB, but I'm done with reffing. It was fun while it lasted and I like how many matches I have reffed as well as becoming one of the more popular and well known refs. I know that my track record has been shaky and I have vanished for months at a time, but I would like to have one less thing to worry about.

Sorry for all the trouble this will cause and thanks for all the good times. Now to head over to the Safari Zone and quit that as well. Ohhh the guilt!

We come into this battle as PARKOUR and POPSTAR are battling. The trainers call out their commands and the battle resumes.

PARKOUR runs forward at a full sprint and punches right in POPSTAR's gut. Whoowee that must have hurt but POPSTAR gets right back up and runs up to PARKOUR and bites down... on a rock. POPSTAR hears PARKOUR's laughter and goes in swinging around like Tarzan and flys gracefully right into PARKOUR.
[PARKOUR: -7 HP/-4 Energy/+3 HP]-[POPSTAR: -6 HP/-11 Energy]

PARKOUR searches for POPSTAR as charging up his Focus Punch and as soon as he's tired of searching, a huge tail made of water whipped him across his face and knocked him to the ground, he gets up and punches at where the tail came from. He gets POPSTAR right in the...rock.
[PARKOUR: -9 HP/-13 Energy]-[POPSTAR: -7 Energy]

POPSTAR starts to look for PARKOUR after losing him thanks to that Focus Punch and trips over something and falls really hard. He looks back and sees that he tripped on a little piece of grass. PARKOUR just laughs maniacally, Joker much?

Something in POPSTAR unlocks as she channels her power over water.

Popstar perches herself on the edge of a rock. Having taken quite a blow in the last round, she has no intention of being beaten down again. Blinking in the darkness, she makes out the shape of her foe nearby. Launching off the rock, she bounces from one rock to another, flips in the air and dives mnouth first at her fighting foe. The force of her fall knocks the two bouncing across the rocky floor, the aqua monkey holding on by clamping her teeth down hard on Medicham's shoulder. Parkour mutters a furious insult under his breath, pulls the Simipour off and delivers a furious punch to the water types gut, draining precious energy from the pokemon at the same time.

Clutching her stomach in pain, Popstar sulks back into the shadow forcing Parkour to search for her again. A flicker of movement catches his attention, and having been focusing hard on finding his foe, Parkour surges forward and throws a powerful punch, straight into a stack of unstable rocks. The rocks shatter under the force, but Parkour howls as he pulls back his hand in pain. Popstar on the other hand, keeps slowly moving around, keeping her distance and staying in the shadows.

Parkour HP-0, PP-12 ; Missed

Both pokemon squint into the darkness again. Shadows flicker and shapes appear to move around. It's difficult to tell which is which. Hoping he's found his foe this time, Parkour encourages the moss and lichen in the cave to grow, sending vines and tendrils out of the rocks in order to trip Popstar. Luckily for the perky celebrity, she's already jumped off the ground into her attack, swinging in mid air and slapping Parkour in the face with her wet tail. As she lands, Popstar is unfortunate enough to step back on the tendrils, which trap her foot and send her crashing down to the floor. Popstar's heart starts pumping faster, sending adrenaline into her veins in a torrent.

Ohhhh, he is going DOWN!

Popstar peers through the fog, searching for Parkour. It doesn't take her long to locate the opponent, and perfectly aware of him now, she shoots forwards at ridiculously high speeds, slamming into him hard. She's not sure what "crunch" is, so she decides to stick to the Acrobatics. With Popstar now in range, he's ready to hit. His fist becomes surrounded by a green energy, and he slams his fist into Popstar, the green orb seemingly draining health from her. She looks angry now, and somewhat tired.
[Popstar: -6% EP, -7% HP] [Parkour: -4% EP, -5% HP, +3% HP]

Parkour begins to focus, quite deeply, taking his mind off the battle. Popstar takes advantage of his uselessness and sneaks over, ready to attack. There's no way she can miss at this range. She sticks out her tail, and focuses energy on it. A spiral of water begins to spin around it, and she slams her tail against Parkour, hard. The Medicham goes flying and lands on the ground, looking irritated now that his attack has been broken, though it's obvious now that Popstar is beginning to have to put a little more effort into her actions...
[Popstar: -6% EP] [Parkour: -5% HP]

Now it's Popstar's turn to be useless. She's not quite sure what to do, with no action to perform. Parkour grins and grabs Popstar, leaping into the air before slamming her down against the ground and elegantly flipping over her weakened body. However, the floating ring around Popstar recovers a little bit of her HP.

Aesthetically its a very clean reffing. I think your damage for an SE attack is a little low (Grass Knot on Water type, even though weight is low....but that can be just me.) Otherwise you noted the weather effect, which luckily didn't come into play here.

These two charming combatants duke it out under the following conditions! You might want to read them, people are rumoring they contain helpful information!

♦Arena♦
=> Victory Road
[Accuracy takes quite a hit! Both Pokémon are on -2 Accuracy until someone decides to use the move flash.]

♦DQ Time♦
=> Since it's not specified, we'll stick with 1 week! Plenty of time!

♦Rules♦
=> The battle is over when the Pokémon of a trainer fainted.
=> Damage Cap is set to 45% default.
=> DQ Time only starts to apply when one of the combatants call it.

♦Additions♦
=> With darkness surrounding the Pokémon, everything seems a bit eerie. Still, none of the two seems to have a major advantage regarding the battlefield.

Let's get cooking!
♣ROUND 6♣

Let's get back to watching this action packed battle! Well, as long as you call this everything consuming darkness "seeing". This might also explain the poor Pokemon just stumbling around, in search of their opponent. POPSTAR seems to make out his enemy first, leaping at the still eagerly searching PARCOUR and executing a bite that had to hurt a lot! Hm, as long as a lot is defined as scratching it a tiny bit, due to it's reduced attack power. The poor victim of this reckless attack started to deliver a draining blow, but with the all-caps-POPSTAR just jumping around willy-nilly in the dark, missing the punch was unavoidable. POPSTAR doesn't seem to land another hit with his superb jumping tactics too. Screw darkness.
[ PARCOUR | -3 HP |-3 EP | ~ ] - [ POPSTAR | -0 HP | -9 EP | ~]

PARCOUR doesn't even try to look for his opponent this time. His fist starts glowing while he is focussing on a punch of enormous power. POPSTAR, seeing his chance to strike whips his tail in the direction of the charging Medicham, missing completely though. Unfortunate timing, because PARCOUR just finished concentrating and delivered the fatal blow into POPSTAR's guts. I'd start spamming all-caps too if I got hit by that. Ouch.
Either way, POPSTAR seems to be powering up a bit. Is this a possible advantage I see there?
[ PARCOUR | -0 HP |-15 EP | ~ ] - [ POPSTAR | -16 HP | -5 EP | Torrent in effect ]

POPSTAR, sick of the last punch, doesn't feel like doing anything now. Or he just doesn't have anymore orders, that could also be a reason. Not betting on that one though. While sitting down, the SimiPOOR tripped over a little grass stain on the floor. How the hell are you even able to trip over a little piece of grass? POPSTAR does seem to be bothered though, getting hit by it's nemesis, the dangerous grass type is something you don't just take. At least it doesn't seem to be in PARCOUR's regular repertoire to start casting grass around, so the damage was bearable.
[ PARCOUR |-0 HP |-4 EP | ~ ] - [ POPSTAR | -9 HP | -0 EP | ~]

Also, fresh water drops on POPSTAR, regenerating a tiny bit of HP.

Referee Notes

Speed advantages are completely out of effect, since the battlers need to make each other out in the dark first before they can attack. However, accuracy now affects the speed of an action.
Everything that was not stated in the mock battle exactly, like gender, DQ Times and Damage Cap/Rule stuff is completely made up by me, according to my going-to-be standarts.
The "addition" tab usually lists advantages some Pokémon might get regarding the terrain or the arena itself.
Any minor grammar mistakes might occured because it's 2:30 AM here (:
If the damage and accuracy seems random, I actually did a lot of research and calculating before deciding these things, so yeah.

I was kinda aiming for the [Intermediate] Referee rank, though looking at all the other mock battles (after I made that one of course, come on) it doesn't seem like an option :'D

If I started out as an Experienced Judge, does that mean I immediately have access to the Beginner Judge rewards? Also, how many Contests do I need to judge in order to access the Experienced Judge rewards?

DarkestLight
12th June 2013, 10:39 PM
Ok let's answer all these damned questions!

1) Yes, if you began reffing as an unapproved ref, and then were approved while reffing a battle, that battle would count.

2) Puma: Nice, you did consider accuracy in the reffing. No real mixups, and your energy parameters made sense to me. Others might think them a tad high, but that's once again, only in comparison to other folks formulas. Yours is your own and its within an acceptable range. If you can keep that level of reffing style up, I see no reason why you won't fly up the ranks in no time.

I'm gonna start you at Intermediate, but I'll be watching to ensure you don't fall back in a rut after just doing a mock battle.

As for the ref rewards, yes any finished battle is viable, so my battle finished, as I beat RL 3 on 2.

3) Contests rewards. Those happen after every completed contest reffing. So If a contest goes from start to finish, you as the Coordinator are now eligible for the reward group. As for access to the lower ranking prizes...why would you do that?

Also, edited a few things...

Ohhhhh, okay, I wasn't reading that properly. I didn't realize I get a free catch for every Contest I judge. >D That is awesome.

The battle rages on in the dark cave of Victory Road, both Pokemon square off against at each other (or at least they think they are, its pretty stinkin' dark!!). The two trainers rattle off their commands to their Pokemon, their voices echoing around in the dark cave. The two Pokemon search around in the darkness, and brace themselves for the incoming attacks.

Parkour glances around nervously in the dark. Always hearing something from behind him no matter where he turns. He finally spins around and punches towards a sound. His fist passes through the air and makes solid contact with a nice big rock. Hearing Parkour's struggle, Popstar leaps toward the noise and tries to bite down on Parkour, however miscalculating Popstar gets nothing but a mouth full of damp cave air. Readjusting himself to Parkour's position, Popstar unleashes a flurry of swift punches and kicks on Parkour managing to land several hits. Parkour stumbles backwards into the darkness and both Pokemon lose track of each other. Popstar Draws power from the ring of water surrounding him.

Popstar, now noticing the glowing light, quickly rushes toward it. As he runs his tail begins to glow. Parkour doesn't even flinch as Popstar slams his tail down onto him. Popstar stands dumbfounded, as it seems his move was barely noticed by his focused opponent. Popstar gains even more power from his Aqua Ring.

Round Mock

Drip... Drip...

The two Pokémon stood in anticipation of what the other one would do. Parkour, the Medicham, lived up to his PokéDex entry, his eyes closed tight as he mapped a sensory image of the arena. The slightest movement, noise, electrical signal, helped him with his picturing of the cave. He took the lightest step forward, pulling his fist back, he kept his eyes closed as he concentrated some form of energy to the fist, letting it glow with a slight, blue hue. He dashed forward, his eyes still closed, using his mental image to navigate around the cave. Rushing towards Popstar, he punched the unknown gendered Pokémon right in the snout, absorbing some of its life force.

Popstar squealed as it was sent tumbling back. It blinked and rubbed its eyes, the light blue glow from Parkour's fist had dissipated already, but the Medicham hadn't moved much after punching the Geyser Pokémon. Frowning, the aqua monkey jumped to its feet. It stretched its limbs, preparing for its next set of moves. With its legs lithe enough, it sped forward, moving fast enough that, if it was more than just barely visible, you'd see an afterimage of it. After gaining enough speed, it lept forward, towards Parkour. In air, it opened its jaw wide, to reveal a set of would-be-sparkling pearly, white, razor-sharp teeth. As it got close enough to Parkour, it clamped its teeth down on his body, latching on for a second. It, then, performed a dexterous spin, its entire body flipping around, its jaws still sunk in the Meditate Pokémon. Its foot struck Parkour in the face, as it did, the jaws unclamped, letting Popstar land on its feet as Parkour was send falling to the floor.

A blue light shone briefly around Popstar, recovering energy.

Parkour:
-10 HP, +3 HP, -5 ENG

Popstar:
-7 HP, + 2 HP, -11 ENG, TORRENT

Parkour grunted as he pulled himself back on his feet. He rubbed over the punctured skin caused by that monkey's bite. He glared in Popstar's general direction, that androgynous beat was not going to get the better of him! He closed his eyes again, using his sixth sense to gain a mental picture of the arena. The monkey grinning tauntingly over at Parkour's direction, it took all of the Meditate Pokémon's willpower not to leap over and beat the genderless monkey half to death. Anyway, with less random filler and diversion, the Medicham pulled his fist back yet again, concentrating as he poured his physical prowess into that fist. This attack was going to pack a punch (No pun intended

...

Okay, pun intended). Popstar chittered to itself, Focus Punch!? Really!? Oh well, that dirty, old trick wasn't going to work on it. Using the water stored in its hair, Popstar began to send that water down towards its tail. Popstar swung its tail around around, water dripping from the end of the soggy thing. It chitter-chuckled to itself, letting the water absorbed in its hair continue to draw towards its tail, the speed of swinging increasing too, the tail's momentum massive as Popstar swung it towards Parkour.

... Splatting right on the floor, in front of the Meditate Pokémon. Popstar cursed to itself.

The Medicham grinned as he had finished concentrating, the monkey's antics having not affected Parkour this action. He punched his fist forward, striking Popstar in the snout again.

Popstar:
-15 HP, + 2 HP, -6 ENG

Parkour:
-12 ENG

Parkour was the last to move this action. The honour of having the first and final move was a rare thing, maybe. Victory Road, no matter what the region, involved a cave carved into a mountain. Most of the time, with foliage growing above the mountain. Well, this battle just happened to take place very close to the surface, yes. Parkour reached up, grabbing one root tip that was shyly poking through the roof of the arena. He pulled the root out, totally, the thing from end to end measured metres in length, a very long root! Tying a lasso in the end of it, he spun it around in the air, aiming towards the idle monkey...

..And it missed, the lasso tightening around a stalagmite.

Parkour:

Ref's Notes:
Based on Medicham's Pokédex entry, sixth sense and all, I took it so that all of Medicham's moves had at least a 1/3 chance of missing. While Simipour's had at least a 1/2.
Random.Org didn't like Popstar much.
Pure Power seems cool.

TurtleShotz: Like your reffing style. Like the fact you keep it interesting and using Oslo's template is tricky. Good work. Now to the nitty gritty.

I need to ask you something about your reffing. When you say you used a random number generator for damage, do you mean to say that you use a random generated number within a specified range, or do you arbitrarily attribute damage?

Secondly. Focus Punch would have failed, since Parkour was struck by Popstar. Not saying that's impossible to retain focus, but it's highly unlikely that he would have after a powerful attack like Aqua Tail.

Thirdly, and most importantly, the damage calcs for the last rounds. I'm not too keen on how HIGH the energy usage is for Focus Punch alone-and then the damage dealt is a bit excessive. I understand Pure Power is in effect, as well as stat uppers and downers for the battlers-but I just wonder what the damage would have been had there been no status modifiers. I'm gonna ask you to submit another application-and don't you worry. I'll have one up as I finish this reffing post. With some work we'll have you approved before you finish reffing that battle :P

Next!

Aerbrodactyl:

Alright Let's see here brah.

Well I will say I like the work that you put into descriptons. Very vivid, enjoyable for me to read. Now for the nitty gritty.

It's weird. I do appreciate the attention to detail-and that includes using a Psychic Pokemon's innate skills to manuvear in a dark area-and yet still miss. That was cool to witness. The calcs seemed fine, not to excessive in either direction. As long as you can justify your values while reffing, then you should be good to go.(this goes for you too Shotz)

I did feel Aqua ring recovery was kind of high, but again, if you can justify it healing that much, then you should be fine. Nothing else really stood out to me, so I can start you off as Beginner.

DarkestLight
16th June 2013, 08:09 PM
Oh wait.

Shotz, did you combine Focus Punch and Grass Knot for the last action? It looks like you did and that would make alot more sense as to why that was so high. Focus Punch is a one turn move-so the carryover into the third action wouldn't be necessary. But you probably did that for descriptive purposes-I apologize for not seeing that until I finished me post.

Lemme know when you read these posts.

Turtleshotz

DarkestLight, thanks for the feedback I appreciate it.
I use a random number generator within a given set of parameters I don't just throw a number from a range of 1-50 on there or something
And yes for the third turn I combined focus punch and grass knot.
I was confused because the movelist said it was similar to hyper beam which is a two turn move, but now I know.

DarkestLight
16th June 2013, 10:13 PM

It's weird. I do appreciate the attention to detail-and that includes using a Psychic Pokemon's innate skills to manuvear in a dark area-and yet still miss.

I worked it so that Medicham had a higher accuracy within the dark area, but not a perfect accuracy. Especially since things like random rocks and stalagmites and what not would not really generate any sound, light or electrical signature. I worked them into the missing just so it wasn't "and it missed."

I did feel Aqua ring recovery was kind of high, but again, if you can justify it healing that much, then you should be fine.

Originally, I did it the same way the games do it, where it heals 1/16th of your total health per round. Leaving a total of 6% healed. I then thought of increasing it by 1.5% with Torrent, which would have lead to 9% and be way too high. So, I'm working it so that Aqua Ring would have normally done 3 or 4% total in the round and that Torrent increased it to a total of 6~

Nothing else really stood out to me, so I can start you off as Beginner.

Status: Singing a much sadder opus than before. Attack -2, Paralyzed (severe, 1 more action)

Mina could do nothing but watch as she stood stock-still her limbs still clenched, unmoving while her much faster opponent got to work. With no gullet to work with, Blitzkrieg proceeded to spin as fast as it could, sinking itself into the ground, producing an assortment of dirt, shredded grass, and the nasty fertilizer it was looking for. It quickly massed the stuff into a glob, and with skills envied by the best athletes, flicked the ball up and whacked it at Mina. With no easy way to dodge in her condition, she let the ball strike her, and felt the poison course into her veins. Not wishing to be outdone, Mina pushed her rickety body through the pain of paralysis and developed a mighty strike with her tail, hurting Blitzkrieg much more than it appeared. Struggling through the pain, she returned to a safe distance as quickly as possible.

((Blitzkrieg Health -8 Energy -4/Mina Aino Energy -5))

Blitzkrieg could no longer ignore how tired it was getting, but its moves still had to be performed. Conjuring up the power of the sea that it knew so well, Blitzkrieg launched a burst of salty, frothy water at Mina, who could once again do nothing to avoid the hit. The slat from the water dug into her already present wounds, and she gritted her teeth as she felt her cuts sting and burn. Shaking herself off, Mina opened her mouth wide and began to scream, her usual heartwarming soprano tones becoming the ravaged calls of the pained. Her vocal chords being so strong, the scream became a wall of sound, a sonic boom that rustled the grass of the field and slammed into the waiting Starmie. Blitzkrieg was pushed back by the onslaught, having nowhere to go.

((Blitzkrieg Health -6 Energy -8/Mina Aino Health -21 Energy -4))

Blizkrieg knew that it probably only had one attack left, but it vowed to make it a good one. It once again whipped up a storm of dirt and grass, this time flipping horizontally to shape the particles into a tornado of sorts. The spectacle glowed pink with dragon energy, and Blitzkrieg sent its offering towards Mina, who surely couldn’t take any more of this. The twister ripped into her slender form, pushing her to her knees. She was still conscious, and planned to attack, but the windstorm had caused all sorts of dirt to invade her eyes. She feverishly tried to rub them, but to no avail. The referee blew his whistle to end the round as the poison in Mina’s system pushed her even closer to the edge.

((Blitzkrieg Energy -3/Mina Aino Health -5, -2 POISON, FLINCH))

End Round 7

Ref’s Notes
-I took extra energy for Mina’s moves for being paralyzed
-Brine was a critical hit
-Pikazhew orders first

My only question is if it's always necessary to include energy and damage calculations, and if so, if I could put them all at the end of the round instead of interrupting the flavour text?
