I find it strange that a .gif file has the file name axyxar.jpg.

At any rate you need to make it smaller, 150x150 is the max size it says, your .gif file is 276x179.

I think image size limits (in both dimension and file size) can differ for mods and members, can someone confirm this?

Well I had to make my newest animated sig where Finnish political party leaders dance (3.03MB) two parts and changed it into part 2 a while ago. The clip stopped in the middle, don't know if it's just Photobukcet's 'fault' though.
