An official app called "Pokémon Say Tap?" has been announced for iOS and Andriod mobile devices in Japan. You read that right, an official mobile phone app, as in by Nintendo. The app is a simple music game requiring the player to tap in-game icons of Pokémon characters from Black and White, in time to music, also from Black and White. Nintendo is no stranger to releasing games for non-Nintendo platforms. Mario teaches typing was released for the PC in 1995 for example. However, this announcement comes as a surprise in light of some of Nintendo's recent comments downplaying the role of mobile phones as gaming platforms. The game hits the App Store and Android Market this summer in Japan.

Oh man. Soon I can no longer laugh at people playing unoffical Pokemon games with their mobile phones.

In 2003, my school had a little fad. Some youngsters had got 'Mario games' in their Texas Instrument Calculations from somewhere. I was both annoyed and amused, playing real Nintendo games with my Game Boy Advance at school.
