Anyone remember that old fic that was hosted on the TPM main site, about a Pidgeot who was maltreated by his trainer, but at the end the trainer confessed he was sorry, and they died in each others' arms/wings (being that they were very old at that point.)? What was it called, and does anyone know where I can find it?

Well, in the past you could find part of Lapras Valley High in the Fanfiction Archives. PancaKe (who was known as Mist when she completed it, and MistyDeeDee back when she first began the piece) wrote it, and she had started reposting it there. However, it would appear that the entire Fanfiction Archives forum has been wiped out by the server move, unless I'm missing something. So, at the moment, it's probably gone. Unless the original copy's floating amongst the ancient threads in the main Fanfic forum (and I believe I checked and couldn't find it long before the server move), it's disappeared for the moment.

However, if you talk to PancaKe, she might be willing to give you a copy of it. Or she might not; I really don't know. Heck, for all I know, she'll ban me for telling you to contact her. But I doubt that, considering her usual jovial personality. I hope I'm right...

Anyway, the only person I know of who has a copy of it is the author, PancaKe. Some of the other members from back then may have it copied from the boards to their computers, but I really don't know. Good luck trying to get a hold of it. :smilie:


Your fic, Darien, I don't recall. I can't think of anything I've read that quite applies to that description. Sorry I can't be of more help there.

Huh, that's odd. The Archive you listed at the bottom shows the threads, but the link from the Fanfic page brings up "No messages..." Is that link broken?

Note that the LVH thread does unfortunately suffer from the same problems mentioned in the following topic: http://www.pokemasters.net/forums/index.php?topic=42540.0. (There is also a related discussion in Forum Help within The Binary District forum.)


EDIT: AH-HA!

Here's the problem with the Archive links: They point to different pages! The one at the bottom of the main TPM Forums page has the following location:
The PokeMasters Forums -> Archives -> The Completed FanFiction Archive

The link within the regular Fanfic forum has gives this location, however:
The PokeMasters Forums -> FanWork -> FanFiction -> The Completed Fiction Archive

Also note the difference in the addresses for the two archives:

So you see, the Archive that is given from within the Fanfic forum shows no threads simply because it is an empty forum. The link from the overall TPM page, however, points to the real Fanfic Archive.

Cool, I think I'll have to ask about doing something to the useless empty forum. In any case, the problem with that LVH link is that it only goes up to Chapter 16. If you want the rest of the chapters, contacting Pancake's probably the best idea.

Ok...heres an Old one..or two actully...1. A Story by Captain Pringle about a Golden Dragonite that belonged to the main charaters dad. He on an island competing in I think its called..the Elemental League? Also Pringle has made up pokemon in it.

and 2. A story by PlatinumHawke called Glory's Long Road, it was about a blue haired Canadian kid and is amazing Sandslash. Also has made up pokemon.

Alright, I want to find 3 fic...

The first one is a fic from Iveechan, which was about Bruno (Pokemon Elite 4 member) being bitten by a Mightyena.

The second one, also from Iveechan is a story about a Hitmonchan who was kept by a trainer name Rick and his daughter.

And the last one was the fic, "Is It Destiny" by Macnectric Trainer.

Hey, Darien, it so happens I know which fic you're talking about. I loved it so much that I printed it out WAAAY long ago, back when TPM was still up *sniff... I miss that place*. To my knowledge Gyro (I believe that was the author's name) never posted it on the forums, and if he/she did then they'd be on the way, waaaay old ones, which I don't believe exist any longer. I don't know of any place online you'd be able to find it, although if you really want to read it again I can find the printout and re-type it verbatim for you, then maybe email it to you or something... wasn't very long, after all. No idea where Gyro is now, though, otherwise I'd say ask him/her. Shame, really, Gyro was a good author.

On another note, I really meant to read Ivee's fics... should go check 'em out now that someone's found them again.

I have a request of my own: Whatever happened to The Power Within? It was written by Kid Micky... I'm pretty sure it was before any damage was done. It's written by a user named Whisper in the Wind, but considering the beginning of the first post in the thread, I would assume that this is the "Kid Micky" to whom you referred, Phoenixsong.


City of Souls, unfortunately, has gone missing. Like most of the other lost fics, it's probably due to the server move. I'll if I can recover it in the deep oceans of the internet. And I'll do the same for TEL, since - as berserkedaegis adeptly noted - the old link is dead.

This is a tremendous long shot... and I know that this won't happen. X.x However, if anyone rememberes a looooooooooooooooooooong time back ago, I think this was even on the other board (which is why the chances of finding it are so slim), I wrote a story called, "The Gift". I am trying to find a copy of it or obtain some memory as to the deeper plot... because I'm thinking of revamping it or at least retyping the story idea. ^^;

Well, it isn't on my old computer anymore... so I'm guessing that it is about 4 years old. It was back during the time when The Pokemasters website was in usage and they had fan fics stored and rated upon the site. The story surrounded a girl with a blue-eyed growlithe that just magically was at her doorstep one day.

I was at TPM a little over five years ago, when I was eleven, and I'm on a search now for fic that I read at that time. One I remember vividly was a Mercedes Lackey/Pokemon crossover by Eevulveepix. I can't find anything anywhere. It's like she just vanished.

Ah, sweet victory. It's called "In the Hand of Fate," and its sequel is "On the Path of Fate." Unfortunately, I can find only pages 2 - 6 of 8 from the sequel. I hope to find it posted in its full form somewhere. Surreally, a few of my own replies are on the Path of Fate thread.

Yeah, sometimes the Wayback Machine is incomplete. But it's always worth a try - you can usually get part of what you want, and you can often piece together everything with enough work. I may as well link it... feel free to try the Internet Archive (http://www.archive.org/index.php) yourself if you like. There are a number of ways to use it to get better results, so you can experiment if you like. Either way, maybe that'll be helpful to some of you in the future. I hope so. ^_^

Around about the time I pretty much 'left' these forums a guy was turning his fic into an animated series type deal. Lord help me but my memory is a mess, I can't remember the fic's name or the writer's name, nor do I really remember any details about the story aside from the fact that it was a "Parody" of the Game-storyline, iirc based on GSC. I'm really relying on the fact that this was turned into a crudely self-made animated series, and hoping it sparks someone's memory who knows what it was called.

When I left, iirc it was only an episode or two into production, I'm quite curious to see how far it went.

Heh, you replied around the time I found it and was editting it into my previous post. And yeah, I think that Newground thing rings a bell actually, bit of a shame really, I guess a big factor in parody humour is if you don't know what it's parodying then it's a fair bit harder to enjoy. So, it seems that this thread is now going to direct people who ask here for fics to other sites, eh? Well then...

I am thinking of working on a Pokemon trainer fic to post here, where the main character trains almost nothing but a certain type of Pokemon in order to compete in leagues based on that type(sort of like Misty and her desire to become a Water Pokemon master, but I'm not going to do a Water theme, of course :D) and I wanted to do a bit of research. Therefore, two requests:

(1) I'd like to read more trainer fics besides Pokemonese and The Emerald League(which I remember was popular when Ruby and Sapphire were just glimmers in the developers' eyes, iirc). Fan Pokemon are allowed in it, because I'm going to make up an entire new region in a possible sequel for my character to travel and it has new Pokemon beyond Sinnoh's ecosystem.

(2) The fanfic that inspired me to do this story was a story about a boy who was raised on Cinnabar Island and mentored under Blaine and he went through Kanto seeking to train fire Pokemon and become a fire master. Just like the character in my future project, he was unable to procure the right type in the beginning(starting out with a Pikachu ala Ash) and he met a cute girl who helped him train for the Pewter Gym. Later, he trades a Pidgeotto to a man for his Charmander, and finds out that person he traded to was a member of Team Rocket. I think the main hero was called Blaze. Anyone who knows about that story, can you PM me the link to where you saw it?

Hey Ada (or anyone really), how do you use wayback machine to seach up the fanfic forum?? Grrr at not being able to figure it out.

It's rather difficult, because the Wayback Machine often struggles at archiving forum pages in an easy-to-access manner. Oftentimes the main forum page will be archived perfectly well, but none of the links to subforums or threads work.

My most common trick? If you can figure out what the old thread URL was, try searching that in Wayback.

Finding the URL, though, can be difficult. You'll likely have to access multiple editions of the forum until you find one that will let you in the Fanfic section. There is an alternative if you're feeling lucky. If the Wayback Machine ever archived a version of the forum with the fic you want as the most recent post, then you'll be able to get the link from that. That should make searching significantly easier.

The best way I've found to look at old forum posts on the wayback machine is to go to the main forum (on the 'chine), find the forum you want to go to and copy the URL from it. Take out all the web.archive.org stuff from the address so you have the original, and search for that on the wayback machine to get to the forum. This usually works for individual topics also, I did it for fanfic a while ago. Read the never ending funny story again, man it's been a while.

This makes me remember how much I am in debt to that fic. It was the first fanfic I read, and showed me just how awesome fanfics can be. It kept me hanging around TPM for years. I come seeking those who hopefully have a better memory then I. This will require you to seek back to around 2002-2003. Though it may have been earlier. I remember reading a story about Ash and co. getting dumped in New York city. This was during the Orange League as Brock was not around. They got there through some means of Prof. Oak opening a portal. It started with Team Rocket snatching Pikachu and running through it. Ash and Misty followed and of course chaos ensued. I hope someone else remembers this story as I do not recall the name, nor the author (yes I fail ¬¬'''). I could give more details on the story if needed. It was fairly popular and it was written by a female writer on behalf of her friend. It was completed and a sequel started but only got maybe 2-3 chapters.

I'd be ever thankful if you could find it, but I won't be surprised if you can't. I'd just like to see if it could be found, as my searches have failed (wayback and me do not agree). Thanks for any sort of answer!

After they got dumped there Ash and Misty tried to follow TR and ended up in a alley beside some store. As Pokémon was still quite popular then they got some rude comments from the adults as they thought they were taking the game waaaaaaay too seriously. I believe they got into a fight with TR as usual and got Pikachu back that way. A male teen witnessed the fight I think and decided to help them out. They decided to play Pikachu off as a hologram.

They were stuck there and some how or another they attracted way to much attention as Bulbasaur (and a few others but I can't remember) got stolen and were going to be dissected for science. They didn't believe they were Pokémon, just mutated animals or something. Ended up Charizard escaped from Ash and was rampaging around New York (he wasn't listening to Ash yet). Ash re-captured him and got back home with the teen in tow. The teen told his not too bright mother he was going off to the 'special' school that Ash and Misty went to. So he could learn to make holograms and such. The sequel starts off from there but like I said it was never finished.

I found this old fic the other day called Pichu and the Electric Gang of Raichu. It was on the fanfic section of the TPM main website in 2000, 2001, and it was rated 5 stars... although reading it, it didn't deserve 5 stars. Haha. Those fics were the n00biest. :P

But anyway, my point is that I found it because I typed it into google. :)

Long time since I've seen this thread active - and even longer time since I've seen anyone ask about The Emerald League, which was one of my favourite trainer fics from that era, too.

I don't have a copy of it to hand, and I don't know anyone who does. You could try contacting MLG who posted above saying she had TEL in a word doc, but that post itself was many years ago.

I did a forum search and couldn't find TEL. I thought I might be able to find it on the old ezboard from the 2002 era when we moved there briefly, but I can't access that URL and it has been excluded from the Wayback Machine. There is a thread here from 2012 that talks about how to view the old ezboard: you need to create an account with Yuku to be able to do it (which I can't be bothered doing), but that could be an option? The thread is here (http://www.pokemasters.net/forums/archive/index.php?t-25842.html), if that helps.

Good luck, and if you do find it - please let us know in this thread. I, for one, would love to read TEL again.

I used to have a pdf file of it that was on piratebay a while back, but I had to format my computer and lost it. The only remains I have found of it were at http://ultimateboardofcoolstuff.yuku.com/topic/2525/The-Emerald-League-CHAPTER-38-posted-July-3 , but it's not finished and the thread in "The Library" section was corrupted a few years back.

I also tried getting in touch with the people that had copies on this thread, but none of them have replied back through private messages. Such a shame :/

I was holding out hope for the ezBoard/Yuku option, damn. It may be lost for now. It's possible one of the people you messaged will log back in several months from now, but even if that happens they may have long lost TEL.

Loupeitak, this is awesome news! So glad you finally found this and thank you very much for sharing with me and any others here.

I had a glance over it and it was very nostalgic. I still remember that opening chapter so well. It takes me back to being 13 and reading this for the first time - and since I am now 30 that really does take me a long way back.
