Ok, first of all, This is old. i wrote it way back in 1994. Only recently did i find the scratchwork and info for it. I originally wrote this as an episode for Lois and Clark the New Adventures of Superman. I tried to get an addres to send it in to, but the show ended up getting cancelled beforehand. Well here goes nothing.

The Jokes On You Superman

Scene I The Joker’s hideout in Gotham

(T.V. is on.)

Television reporter: People in Metropolis are busy getting ready for a special benefit to help orphaned children. Rumors are flying that there might even be a special guest host. More news from Metropolis, Lex Luthor is being released from prison in six days for good behavior. Now back to Gotham news. The Joker is still on the loose. Meanwhile, Batman captured Poison Ivy…

(The Joker turns the T.V. off)

Joker: (talking to himself) Hmmm, this looks promising. Most likely there will be a lot of money raised. If I could get some help, it should be easy to steal. *smirks* I think I know just the fellow too.

(The Joker leaves for Metropolis)

Scene II Metropolis Jailhouse the next day

Joker: (wearing a disguise) I’m here to see Lex Luthor.

Desk Clerk: Who are you?

Joker: An old friend of his.

Desk Clerk: I’m really not supposed to do this but I think I can let you in. Just keep a low profile and I’ll be right back.

Joker: Ok, thanks, (under his breath) sucker.

(The desk clerk goes to get the visitor’s room ready and leads Lex Luthor to the room. Then he goes to bring the Joker unbeknownst to him to the room.)

Desk Clerk: Follow me.

(Once inside, the desk clerk leaves locking the door behind him.)

Lex: Who are you?

Joker: *laughs his famous laugh* I’m the Joker. *looks around and smirks* Cozy little place you’re in.

Lex: *sighs* What do you want?

Joker: *puts on a hurt face* I’m hurt you honestly think I would want something… *waits a few minutes* Since you asked, I’ll tell you. I’m planning on stealing the money raised at that orphan thingy coming up soon and I need help.

Lex: I guess. One problem, Clown.

Joker: *confused look* What’s that?

Lex: It’s out there, and I’m in here. I’m not getting released until after the benefit is over with.

Joker: I’ll bust you out.

(The Joker whispers his plan into Lex’s ear)

Lex: There’s one more problem. Superman.

Joker: Super who?

Lex: Superman. A superhero who has been a thorn in my side ever since he first surfaced.

Joker: We’ll just shoot him.

Lex: *laughs* I’d like to see you try. He’s bullet proof, has super speed and can fly among other things.

Joker: Does he have any weaknesses?

Lex: One. Kryptonite.

Joker: Where do we get it?

Lex: There is some in a lead vault at S.T.A.R. labs, but it is heavily guarded.

(The desk clerk knocks on the door and enters)

Desk Clerk: Times up.

Lex: Okay, bye.

Joker: See ya soon.

Scene III Bruce Wayne’s Room at his Mansion

(Bruce has just gotten out of the shower and has a towel tied around his waist when the telephone rings. Bruce answers it.)

Bruce: Hello, Wayne residence.

Cheryl: Is this Bruce Wayne?

Bruce: Yes, it is. May I ask who is calling?

Cheryl: I’m sorry. My name is Cheryl, and I am a receptionist. I work for the mayor of Metropolis. He asked me to call you and ask if you would like to be the guest host for the orphans’ benefit. It’s going to be held here in Metopolis.

Bruce: Let me check my schedule.

(Cheryl proceeds to tell Bruce the date of the benefit. Bruce flips through his calendar and checks the date.)

Bruce: Sure, I’m available. I’ll be happy to. I’ll fly to Metropolis today.

Cheryl: Thank you Mr. Wayne. The mayor and the city of Metropolis appreciate your help. Good-bye.

Bruce: Good-bye.

(Bruce calls Alfred into his room)

Alfred: Yes, Master Bruce.

Bruce: I would like for you to pack my bags and get me an airplane ticket to Metropolis please.

Alfred: Yes sir, Master Bruce.

(Alfred leaves the room and Bruce makes a call to reserve a room at a fancy hotel.)

Scene IV Bruce arriving at the hotel in Metropolis

Bruce: I’m here to pick up my key. I made a reservation yesterday. The name is Wayne. Bruce Wayne.

Hotel Clerk: Sure. Here it is. By the way are you the Bruce Wayne?

Bruce: *laughs good naturedly* Yes, I am.

Hotel Clerk: Have a nice stay in Metropolis.

Bruce: Okay, bye.

(The hotel clerk calls the Daily Planet and tells them that Bruce Wayne is in town and staying at the hotel.)

Scene V The Daily Planet Newsroom

(The phone rings and Clark answers.)

Clark: Daily Planet, Clark Kent speaking.

Hotel Clerk: I’m the hotel clerk at the Grand Metropolis International Hotel. I have information that Bruce Wayne is in town and staying at our hotel.

Clark: Thanks for the information. I’ll be there soon.

(Clark hangs up the phone and runs toward Perry’s office.)

Clark: Chief! Bruce Wayne is staying at the Grand Metropolis International Hotel.

Perry: Are you positive?

Clark: Yes, the hotel clerk just called and informed us.

(Perry nodds and walks to the door of his office.)

Perry: *shouting* Lois get in here NOW!

(Lois hurries into Perry’s office.)

Lois: Yes chief?

Perry: You and Clark hurry to the Grand Metropolis International Hotel. See if you two can land an interview with Bruce Wayne. Clark, did the hotel clerk say what room he is staying in?

Clark: Yes, Chief. Bruce Wayne is staying on the tenth story Suite ten.

Perry: Don’t just stand there like knots on a log, get your rears in gear.

Lois and Clark at the same time: We’re on our way.

(Lois and Clark exit the Daily Planet and duck into an alley behind the Daily Planet. Clark changes into Superman and flies Lois to the hotel. Superman flies off returning a few seconds later as Clark. They enter the hotel and get on the elevator. When they arrive on the tenth floor they look for and find suite ten. Then they knock on the door.)

Scene VI Bruce’s Hotel Suite

Bruce: Come in, the door is open.

(Clark opens the door and they enter.)

Clark: Hello Mr. Wayne, I’m Clark Kent and this is my partner Lois. We’re from the Daily Planet and we were wondering if you would agree to an interview?

Bruce: Sure, but please call me Bruce. I was just about to order lunch. Would you like to join me? I will be glad to answer any questions that you have.

Lois and Clark at the same time: Sure, thank you.

(Bruce picks up the phone and orders room service. Soon the food arrives, and they eat.)

Lois: Why are you in Metropolis?

Bruce: I’m here because the mayor’s receptionist called, wanting me to be the guest host for the orphans’ benefit.

Clark: It is going to be a big event. Lois and I are planning on attending.

Bruce: You two seem pretty close to be just news partners.

Lois: *blushes* We’re married.

Bruce: Congratulations. Would either of you mind is we continued this interview while touring the city?

Lois: We would be glad to show you around Metropolis. Wouldn’t we Clark? *elbows Clark*

Clark: Yes, of course.

(They walk out of the hotel suite to the elevator, and ride down to the first floor. Then they walk out of the hotel and start showing Bruce around.

Scene VII Across the Street from Turley Jewelry Store

(Lois, Clark, and Bruce are getting some ice cream from a vendor across the street. Clark glances up and sees Lex Luthor and a some guy with a clown’s face.)

Clark: Oh, boy.

(Bruce looks up and sees the Joker and a bunch of thugs.)

Clark: I just remembered that I have a dentist’s appointment and I’m running late. I have to go. I’m sorry.

(Clark runs off.)

Bruce: That’s okay. I just remembered that I have to call Alfred and let him know that I got in okay. He’s my butler and he raised me after my parents were murdered.

(Bruce runs off, leaving Lois holding three ice cream cones. Seconds later Superman arrives. Out of nowhere comes a man in a large black suit with pointed ears, a cape, and tights. Lois and Superman exchange a glance. The caped figure is already beating up on the thugs when Superman intervenes. He grabs the caped figure.)

Superman: What are you doing?

The caped figure: I’m here to stop the robbery because the Joker is involved.

Superman: Who are you?

The caped figure: I’m Batman. Who are you?

Superman: I’m Superman.

(Lex and the Joker leave. As they leave, they argue.)

Lex: You stupid clown, I told you to bring the kryptonite.

Joker: No, you didn’t, I told you to get it.

(Superman and Batman notice that the Joker and Luthor are gone. They leave at the same time but in different directions, arriving within) minutes of each other as Clark and Bruce.

Bruce: How was your appointment?

Clark: Great, no cavities.

Scene VIII Lois, Clark, and Bruce are at a Restaurant

(After the attempted robbery, Bruce decided to treat Lois and Clark to dinner at a fancy restaurant. As they sit down to order, Clark hears a woman screaming for help)

Clark: Excuse me. I’ll be right back.

(Clark walks off. Leaving the restaurant, he ducks into an alley, changes into Superman, and flies off in the direction the cry for help came from. He saves the woman from the burning building and puts the fire out. The house was ruined. Clark returns just as Lois was ordering for him.)

Lois: *whispering to Clark* What happened?

Clark: *whispering to Lois* There was a woman trapped in a burning building. I was able to save her, but the house was destroyed.

(The rest of the day goes without anymore trouble. Lois and Clark escorted Bruce back to his hotel suite. Clark then takes Lois home, before they go inside they kiss.)

Scene IX Turley Jewelry Store

(The Joker plans to rob the store without Lex. He has already killed the guards and robbed the store before he deliberately trips the alarms. He was long gone by the time the cops and Superman arrive. Superman scans the place with his x-ray vision and discovers one terrified guard hiding, but no one else. After a long time of questioning the guard, Superman flew off to check on Bruce. He was safe and asleep in his hotel. Superman finally returned home, where Lois was watching the news that was telling people to beware of a man with a clown’s face. He is insane and extremely dangerous.)

Scene X Back at the Hideout

(When the Joker got back Lex was extremely upset. He had been asleep when the Joker had left, but he woke up and couldn’t go back to sleep. So he had decided to watch the news, and that was how he had found out about the Joker’s escapade.)

Lex: Don’t you think you went a little overboard? What if Superman had been patrolling the skies and saw you?

Joker: Don’t’ worry, the Superdork wasn’t anywhere around. I think he got there after I left.

Lex: Next time he could be there, so you need to be careful.

Scene XI Daily Planet Newsroom

(Lois tells Clark and Bruce her idea.)

Lois: Why don’t we get Superman and Batman to work as a team to stop Lex and the Joker?

Bruce and Clark at the same time: That’s a great idea.

Clark: Superman shouldn’t be too hard to contact, but I have no idea how to go about contacting Batman.

Bruce: I may be able to help there. I’ve had dealings with Batman in the past so I’m sure I can contact him.

Lois: Good. Tell them to meet at our house at seven o’clock sharp tonight.

Clark: Sure.

Bruce: Okay.

(They go their separate ways.)

Scene XII The Hideout

(Lex and the Joker begin to devise a plan to produce their own line of dangerous toys. They want to make a toy tank that shoots real bullets and a toy dragon that breaths real fire. They tell the thugs to start production of the toys, and they would go on air to advertise their new products to all the kids and their parents the next morning.)

Scene XIII Lois and Clark’s House

(Seven o’clock came and Superman was the first to arrive. Soon after, Batman arrived. They began to talk about how they should stop Lex and the Joker.)

Batman: Why is the Joker even here?

Lois: Not sure.

Batman: He probably has more stuff to steal in Gotham.

Lois: I wouldn’t bet on that, buster. Metropolis is huge.

Superman: Lois, calm down. Maybe he’s after the money that’s going to be raised at the orphans’ benefit. I gotta fly someone’s in trouble.

(Superman flies off. Batman stayed to talk with Lois some more. Just as Batman was about to leave, there was a knock on the door. It was Clark with a couple of bags of take out Chinese food. Batman told Clark about what he had missed. Then Batman left, and a few minutes later, there was a knock on the door. It was Bruce. Lois filled him in. Soon there was another knock on the door. It was Jimmy, bringing the information that they had wanted. Jimmy did a double take when he saw Bruce.)

Jimmy: Oh, man, is that really Bruce Wayne?

Lois: Yes, Jimmy, it is.

(Jimmy goes inside and asks Bruce for his autograph. Bruce gives it to Jimmy. Jimmy thanks Bruce repeatedly making himself sound like an idiot. Bruce also leaves. Then Lois and Clark begin to look over the info that Jimmy had brought. The next morning at the Daily Planet newsroom, all the TVs simultaneously changed to an advertisement for Jolly Toys. It was advertising toy tanks and dragons. Soon they are bestsellers.)

Scene XIV Bruce’s Hotel Suite

(Bruce asked Lois and Clark to meet him for lunch at his hotel suite. Once they had arrived, Bruce told them that he had found out that more fatalities and injuries have occurred in children since the Jolly toy tank and dragon has come out. Lois and Clark investigated further and discovered that Lex and a mysterious partner were behind Jolly Toy Company.)

Bruce: I’ll investigate the toy factory.

(Lois and Clark try to talk him out of it, but are unsuccessful.)

Bruce: Listen, I’ll be okay. I’ll call you at four o’clock, I promise. You’ll be at home right?

Clark: Yes.

Scene XV Lois and Clark’s Home

(Four o’clock came and went. Lois and Clark still hadn’t heard from Bruce. By the time five o’clock arrived they were worried.)

Clark: Something must have happened. I’m going to look for him. I’ll meet you back at the benefit. Be careful.

Lois: I’ll do my best.

(Lois kisses Clark. She watches as Clark changes into Superman. Jimmy was heading over to Lois and Clark’s house when he saw Superman leave. Jimmy decided to follow him, so he took off after Superman in his car.)

Scene XVI The Hideout

(When Superman arrived at the toy factory, he x-rayed the place with his x-ray vision and saw Bruce tied to a chair in the basement. Superman wa down the steps and in the basement in abou two seconds. He burst through the door. Bruce was trying to warn Superman, but he had tape over his mouth. Superman ripped the tape off.)

Bruce: *winces in pain before shouting* Get out of here. It’s a trap!

Superman: *has a confused look on his face* What?

(Lex and the Joker emerge from a hidden lead-lined closet. Lex is smirking and carrying a small lead box.)

Lex: What little good is that warning now.

Superman: What do you mean by that Luthor?

Lex: This is what I mean.

(Lex opens the lead box and Superman immediately feels the effects of the kryptonite. Soon he is on the floor in pain. Lex and the Joker smirk. Lex kicks Superman in the groin.)

Lex: You’ve been a thorn in my side for far too long. Finally, I get to destroy you. Bye.

(Jimmy stayed hidden until he was sure that the two villains were gone. Then he hurried into the basement. He found Superman on the floor in pain, and Bruce tied to the chair. Jimmy first helped Superman out of the basement. Then, he went back in and helped Bruce. Jimmy picked up the kryptonite as well. Jimmy threw the kryptonite into the river once they were outside then the two of them headed to the benefit.)

Scene XVII The Benefit

(Superman was already there waiting for Bruce and Jimmy.)

Superman: Are you two all right?

Bruce: We’re ok. What about you?

Superman: Better.

(Superman goes inside and finds Lex trying to rip a pearl necklace off of a woman’s neck.)

Lex: It can’t be! You’re supposed to be dead.

Superman: Sorry to disappoint you.

(Meanwhile, back outside.)

Bruce: Jimmy you go on ahead. I’ll be there soon.

Jimmy: You sure?

Bruce: Yes.

(Jimmy goes inside. Minutes later Batman arrives. The Joker running to escape, and looking behind him to see if anyone was following, collided into Batman.)

Joker: *Groans* Why do you always have to show up and ruin everything.

Batman: Because it’s my job to hunt down scum like you and put you back where you belong.

(Lex was sent back to prison. The Joker was sent back to Arkham Asylum. After the police had taken the criminals away, Superman thanked Batman for his help. The two heroes left. Bruce goes to talk to Jimmy.)

Bruce: Thanks for your help.

Jimmy: It was nothing. *nervously puts his hands in his pockets*

(Everyone is now enjoying the benefit and Bruce goes off to fill in as host.)

Scene XVIII Jimmy’s Apartment

(When Jimmy arrived home, he saw Superman hovering outside his window. Jimmy walked over and opened the window inviting him in.)

Jimmy: Come in. If I knew that you were going to be stopping by I’d have cleaned up a little. *Jimmy kicks some magazines under the couch.*

Superman: Don’t worry about it. It looks lived in. Anyways, I stopped by to thank you for your help.

Jimmy: It was no problem.

Superman: You saved my life.

Jimmy: You have saved mine several times. It was the least I could do, especially for a friend.

Superman: Well, thank you anyway.

(Superman flies off into the night.)

I tried to picture this fic as it being in the show ^_^ It's great Amy. I would just advise that you use spell check - There's a few mistakes in there, but other than that the idea was great and original.

I can't believe you wrote that back in 1994 :) It was nicely written

Thanks Jay. I appreciate that. Yeah I did write this way back in 1994. I just updated it whenever there was like a major plot change. I'm not sure if my writing has stayed the same gotten better or gotten worse since then, But i appreciate the support.

Gah, evil script format. *cue Stadium Jolteon screech, for some bizarre reason*
lol, well, I guess it makes sense considering it was written as a script.
Lovely work, btw. Captures the characters nicely, especially Joker, who's always been my favourite DC villain. And it was quite interesting to boot. Seemed a tad long for a half-hour show, though? Crikey, you must've been shattered when the show was cancelled. It's bad enough when that happens, but when you had written a script beforehand, it must've been scream-suitable.

Ever thought of writing any more? Or done any other script work? It'd make for a great collection. ^_^

Well, it was actually an hour long TV shw. I've haven't really had any great ideas except for that one. Though i haven't really thoguht about it, who knows what may happen if i get more time. Maybe I'll try to write some more soon, but right now uni is taking up a lot of my writing time especially when it comes to math. X.x
