The 2006 Silver Pencil Awards ~ Nominations Topic!

It’s that time of year again… get ready for the Silver Pencil Nominations! For the next two weeks, the best fics and fanficcers that TPM has to offer will be nominated by you for the semiannual Fanfic Awards! To make your nominations, simply list them in a post in this thread.

For fanfics, any fic that has had an update since the Golden Pen Awards in September 2005 is eligible for general nominations. (Of course, it has to fit any other requirements of the specific category as well; for instance, a fic can only be nominated for Most Promising New Fic if it was first started since the last Golden Pen Awards.)

Be sure to only make up to one nomination for each category. Also, if you want to change a nomination, you’re welcome to do so, but please make your changes in a new post rather than editing your previous one. We keep track of the nominations as they are made, so things might get rather confusing otherwise. And don't forget, no nominating yourself!

If you have any questions about any of the categories or about the awards, feel free to ask. Otherwise, start nominating already!

Okay, I see I need to clarify one of the nomination requirements...

Any fic which has had an update since the last Golden Pen Awards is eligible for nominations (as long as it meets the criteria for the specific category). That means that any fic which had a new chapter posted at any point since the last post in the Voting topic (http://www.pokemasters.net/forums/index.php?topic=42887.0) for those Awards is eligible to be nominated. The time may vary by time zone, but the date should be October 1, 2005 for pretty much everyone, I believe.

...Sorry about that. I figured the issue needed further clarification, since The Emerald League was completed in 2004 if I recall correctly (although the fic seems to have vanished in the now-infamous server move). There may be other fics that haven't been updated recently enough, but that was the only one that caught my eye while skimming through the nominations.

(That means if you didn't check when fics were updated while you were making nominations, you might want to do so. Wouldn't want anyone angry about their nominations not making it to the voting stage...)

Out of curiosity...how many of you read the YGO fics? I seems as though very few people do...if that's the case, then people like Master of Paradox and myself will never win anything, and all because we refuse to conform and write Pokemon fics...

Well, with one day to go before the deadline for nominations, I decided to check all the nominations to make sure they all qualified for their respective categories.

In short, I'm about to have an aneurysm from all the checking, reading, and howling in pain as my retinas dissolved.

But enough of that. For the benefit of the nominators as well as the fics they decided to nominate, I went through and made a list of things that didn't quite qualify, along with their respective nominators. (Whew!) Again, you can feel free to change any nominations up until the submission deadline, including anything mentioned here. Just make sure to make a new post if you do. That way, I can avoid cardiac arrest.

Oh, and if your name doesn't have any comments, that means that I have nothing to say to you. Interpret that however you please. ;)


Blademaster: “Shadow Realm – Fifteen” is a Yu-Gi-Oh! fic, so I’ll count it as your Best Other Fandom Fic instead of Best Original, since you don’t have a nomination in the former category.

mr_pikachu: I just wanted to make a special point of flaming you, dirtbag. Stop taking my lunch money!

jkBAKURA: “Yu-Gi-Oh Junior: The Mandate of Heaven” ended in May of last year, so it can’t qualify for nominations. Also, you can’t make any nominations from your own fics, even if they were ideas from other fanficcers.

darktyranitar: Cool-headed Blaziken really isn’t a New Writer because he joined before the last Awards (in March 2005).
