Brief summary: the drug is called CIMAVax-EGF and was developed by the Cuban Molecular Immunology Center "Centro de Inmunología Molecular (CIM)". It does not prevent nor cure lung cancer but, according to the latest studies, it can turn this otherwise lethal disease, even at advanced stages, into a controllable, non-lethal chronic disease. That is, patients suffering from advanced lung cancer may be able to survive and keep the disease at bay for as long as they continue the treatment.

Clinical tests on human patients began in 1995, and so far no serious collateral effects have been observed.

CIMAVax-EGF has already been patented in Cuba and Peru, and is in process of being registered in Brazil, Argentina, Colombia and other countries.

16 years? That's a decent waiting period to determine any detrimental effects from the treatment.

16 years since 1996? I feel so... old.

Oh, and the cancer thing is cool, too.

Cuba can (almost) cure cancer but the United States can't?

Pffffff... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

That's incredible. I don't have much of a perspective on clinical research so it'd be interesting to hear about what modifications were made to the drug ver the years up to this point.

Cuba's always had good doctors that much is a fact.

I'm sure it does for the ones in charge...but I have a friend that lived in Cuba for over 40 years and she can tell you straight up, it doesn't work in hardly anyone's best interest. There's a reason why she can never go back, not even to visit, and she hasn't done anything normal people would consider 'bad'.
