In all fairness, I'd like the ref to set the arena, k?

Since I feel real neglective, and it conveniently has an advantage, I'm sending out Featherstone!

Now that I think about it you probably sent out your pokemon first on purpose, predicting i'd bring in something that's strong against it, like my archen.

Well, I'm feeling lucky today.

Archen, I'd like you to start with ancient power. If he tries to protect against it, or tries to use mirror move to counter it, use agility instead. Then, I want you to use smack down. if they try to use protect or mirror move, use hone claws. Then, I want you to use earthquake. if they try to use protect or mirror move, use double team.

Ancientpower/ agility ~ smack down/ hone claws ~ earthquake/ double team

Alright, Ninke, let's play!

Fly around in a zigzag-patern to confuse the enemy and attack with Steel Wing! Then use Faint attack to dodge that Smack Down and attack him from behind. Finally, use Nasty Plot.

Ok, I can't help but feel that my wanting refs to come up with the map is driving them away, so i'll come up with one.

Arena: SPAAAAAAAAAACE!
The arena is set in a dome in a space station! The power in this dome is a little out-of-sorts, so any electric type moves have a 40% chance to increase the gravity for 2 turns, 40% chance to decrease the gravity for 2 turns, and 20% chance to not affect the gravity at all.

If the gravity increases, flying types' evasiveness goes down by 2 stages, floating or flying pokemon are grounded, and moves that require jumping or flying are unable to be used.

If the gravity decreases, evasiveness for flying types goes up by 2 stages, those trapped by the move "gravity" are no longer affected, magnet rise lasts longer, and moves that require jumping or flying require an extra turn to be used and are decreased in power.

Also, Since there is no wind of any kind in the space station, it's hard for bird pokemon to fly, so the actual move "Fly" is unable to be used.

you ok with this arena?

===Round 1===

Whoo, Bowie's in spaaaace!

Oh fine. I'll ref now. I'm floating in this strange yet awesome arena, ready to ref another battle tirelessly between MLG, who is trying to show dominance amidst a mind-life crisis, and BTPoke. With the rules set and the flying Pokemon out, we're ready to do this thing!

Featherstone is just a hair slower than Ninke and she lets him know it with a hefty crack of her wing over his head as she manages to gain some sort of lift. But Featherstone is quick to use some of those old stone feathers of his to smash into Ninke with. The pair fall back to the ground, not used to this whole not flying business...

NL: -5E/-14H ~~ Fe: -5E/-12H

Featherstone quickly aims one feather and throws it like a dagger, aiming for the crucial spot under Ninke's left wing to make her stay grounded. But Ninke..is gone! What? There's nowhere to hide! Feather turns in a circle, and then looks up, to see the vulture collide with her from above. That was crazy weird.

NL: -6E ~~ Fe: -5E/-9H

Featherstone growls at his failed attempt and lashes at Ninke with a flurry of rash movements. Ninke hops and manages to float a bit-as the rash movements in turn start a slight rumbling on the ground. Ninke just watches, plotting her next stage of attack.

===Round 2===

The semi aerial battle continues with Ninke trying to Snarl. Birds can't snarl. It sounds like they're sneezing. But, instead of being drowned out by the rounded voice of Featherstone, the two seem to harmonize. Hrm. Maybe you two should start a bird band.

NL: -3E/-5H ~~ Fe: -3E/-7H -SpA

Featherstone wasn't out of ideas yet. As Ninke opened her wings and readied a pulse of energy between them, she waited. The Pulse fired, and then Feather thrust herself to the left, completely evading said attack.

NL: -6E ~~ Fe: -3E +2 SpD

That boost gave the rocky bird some much needed confidence. With one swipe of its wing, old rock feathers fell off and were mentally directed to fall atop of Ninke. Ninke sqwaked as the powers that be seemed to smite her with this pain, but she wasn't about to left this bird get away unscathed!

She hopped over to Feather and smashed her right wing against his back. That caused a definite wincing from him.

ugh, the only downside to archen is its darn ability.

First, now that you have the advantage of speed, create a sandstorm. Next, I want you to use Ancient Power. Then, I want you to use Head Smash.

If the opponent gets you down to half health after you use sandstorm, use dig then rest (for the sake of making sense, let's just say the inner flooring of the arena is made of rock).

===Round 3===

Ninke and Feather continue to battle it out in this wacky arena. Featherstone flaps hard and tries to remove the granules of dust under his feathers in order to create a Sandstorm. It starts to work, as Ninke wells up a bolt of energy that pierces through the sandy heart and shatters Feather's hope at staying hidden. (-1)

NL: -6E ~~ Fe: -4E/-14H (!!) SS: 2 rds

Feeling really weak and vulnerable all of a sudden, Feather decided to turn chicken. He began to burrow into the ground, but even his speed didn't help. Ninke hopped over to the hole in a great hurry and blasted a Shadowball down there just for good measure. (-1)

NL: -7E ~~ Fe: -3E/-16H , -3 Atk

The heavy hits were grating on the Archen. continuing to dig was a good thing, as Ninke could no longer actually fire a Shadowball and be sure if it would even hit. So she was left to wait as Feather took the opportune time to actually rest up. (-1)

I hate to resort to these tactics, but I don't really have much choice here.. Ninke hover over the hole and drop a Toxic in there. Then keep firing shadowballs at it until it wakes up. If it wakes up and comes out of the hole, assault it with Dark Pulse.

===Round 4===

As the storms continue, Ninke shakes the dust off of her plumage. The sands would hurt, but she seems to be made of a larger type of feather. That allows her to peer down the hole. She can't make out a thing.

Down and somewhere under the area, the sleeping Feather tries an attack. Now comes the problems with sleeping underground. Air. Taking a deep breath, Feather releases a Dragonbreath! The flamelike attack consumes the air in the tunnel its created at the moment-leaving Feather on a nasty timeline.

Ninke did as instructed, even thought it seemed to have nil effect.

NL: -2E ~~ Fe: -4E Air (3 act.)

Feather tried to Snore next, and the sound reverberated in the little cavern, but did nothing to wake it up. Ninke could barely hear the Snore with the sandstorm going on, and reluctantly fired a Shadowball down the hole. Still, nothing.

NL: -7E ~~ Fe: -4E (2 act.)

The Sandstorm winds finally started to fade, and as Ninke flung another Shadowball down, she seemed to get a bit irritated. Why can't that bird fight like..a bird! Feather kept sleeping, but now had trouble breathing..as air was tight. Its next attack just threw itself against eh wall in its own little cavern-Quick Attack nothing!

Ninke still remained calm as ever, as Featherstone tries to right her poor positioning. With her life ebbing away with every breath, she finally picks a direction and digs. The loosening dirt makes her turn her direction until she finally breaks the surface. No strike against Ninke here, this was purely about oxygen.(-3)

Ninke smirked as the prehistoric bird came free of her own prison, coughing like a banshee with laryngitis. She aided the ailing avian with a dark Pulse of energy to bowl her over.

NL: -7E ~~ Fe: -3E/-14H

Feather flew up after recovering, and tried to get her head straight. But being deprived of oxygen and then being thrust back into it really does a number on your system. Feather dipped in flight and was blasted a second time by the patient vulture.

But this time, Ninke found herself splattered with a strange film. Did she made the bird explode over her?

NL: -7E Txc ~~ Fe: -2E/-13H

Ninke wiped it off, but the feeling was starting to creep under her secondary feathers. She quickly blasted a third hit, knocking Feather backwards even more. But Feather once again flapped incessantly, and old stone feathers flew off and found their mark!

Feather sighed, feeling better that the strike connected.

Feather looked exhausted. She barely turned to face Ninke before feeling feathers fly off the left side of her body, where that pulse blasted her. She spun out, splayed to the four winds. (-2)

NL: -7E ~~ Fe: -14H

Unrelenting forces of Pulsating Dark energy continued to rain on Feather. Definitely not a good time to be out of energy...as the final Pulse pushed its way into harming the Archen beyond tolerance.(-2)

NL: -7E ~~ Fe: -13H

Nike kicks Featherstone over, to make sure she's not playing possum. Nope. Out cold.

first, use hydro Pump to inflict damage and stop the bone club(it should work. It's hydro pump against bone club for crying out loud! xD )

Next, use charge (the field effect won't take effect considering the electricity is contained in the move charge)

next, try to dodge as best as you can and use thunderbolt!

===Round 7===

Feather out, we finally have a switchup in the lineup. BT considers his next choice and opts for a disadvantaged advantage. Out flops a Chinchou, shooting sparks like he's a broken stove. Ninke takes a wary step back, and looks around. That doesn't look safe.

That moment of hesitation was all Bul needed. He blasted a huge jet of water from his form (not from the water pipe that was under the room, no.) and hammered the femme scavenger. But whilst that slowed her down, it didn't stop her from attacking Bulbob once that was over. A total of three strikes were delivered, in swift retribution. (-3)

NL: -5E/-15H ~~ Bu: -10E/-12H

Ninke kept up the pressure now, hammering right back with a souped up Dark Pulse. This would had phased the Chinchou, had he not been ready for it. He kept his ground and was charging up.. (-3)

NL: -7E ~~ Bu: *CRG*-11H

Ninke tries to fly in the weird room once more and swoops toward the frierfish. Their collision ticks Bul off, and it whips around as Ninke smacks it for a second pass. The room seems to warp at the use of the electrical move, and even more so when its released. The shocking bolt hammers into the incoming Pokemon, and this time, it knocks her off her flight path. Ninke lands in a heap, smoldering primary feathers lying haphazardly around her.

NL: -5E/-25H ~~ Bu: -6E/-8H

Huh, thart 20% came through. And Ninke is out. Just like that (3)

DarkestLight

o.O Bulbob didn't attack first at any point in that scenario. It takes time to fly across a field and hit someone with a bone-in that time he smacked you down with the Hydro Pump and the Thunder.

Still; edited for "obvious" speed difference. Ninke still drops.

MeLoVeGhOsTs

I don't mind if I dropped, that was clearly meant to be:D Just wondering how the 'bone' was slower then the most powerful water-type move ever, but I'm guessing you'll have your reasons.

I'll be releasing Chris Xeroxx, my male Kecleon.

BTPoke

ooh, i'm gonna have fun with this.

Start off the round with an aqua ring. If he tries to do anything to stop or steal it, use water pulse instead. Then, if you used aqua ring, use water pulse. If you used water pulse before, use Thunderbolt. Finally, if you used water pulse the second turn, use thunderbolt. If you used thunderbolt, use mud slap.

If kecleon ever uses a status-inflicting move, use confuse ray before it does. If kecleon ever uses sunny day, use rain dance after it does. If it uses role play (because that would be way too good a strategy for you to pass up :3), replace any uses of thunderbolt with thunder wave.

Swift hit and Bulbob is stunned. He doesn't know what to do. Oh that's gonna suck this round for him.

DarkestLight
29th May 2012, 07:20 PM
Well see, this is how I broke it down.
1) Use Aqua ring
1a) If Chris uses something to stop AQ, use WP.

Now. WP would have been used, but the problem is that Fake out makes you flinch. Since you flinched..you didn't use any move.

Now, continuing

1c)If AQ used, use WP, then TB
If WP used, use TB then MS

Now. Again. Flinch made it so you didn't use either AQ or WP, leaving you stuck xD

1D) If using a stat inflicting move, use CR. NOW, Flinch could have bee seen as a status, and then if he used Confuse Ray...what would he use since he didn't use AQ or WP? Again. Stuck.

1E) If Role Play used-use T-wave. Fine. But he used Skill Swap.

I saw what you were trying to do, but you made it MOVE specific. Fine tuning it so the ref isn't locked into specific parameters is the balancing act.

BTPoke
29th May 2012, 07:39 PM

hey, doesn't skill swap only last for a short period of time due to its high amount of energy expenditure? Just wondering.

Ok, this isn't going too well for me. First thing, use Confuse ray. If they try to protect or use magic coat, use Aqua ring instead. Next up, use thunder wave. If they protect against that, use Rain Dance. If they taunt or use magic coat, use that new drain punch. Then, finally, use BRINE! Sorry guys, fucking hectic over 'ere! Also, I thought moves like Fly/Bounce/Dig are not to be combo'd?

Anyway, Psybeam, Shadowball x2!

BTPoke
6th July 2012, 08:04 AM
I guess it doesn't really matter as long as you're going up/down anyway from the dig/bounce/fly

I guess all we can do at this point is just dig up (try to snap out of your confusion, meanwhile) and attempt to either dodge or take the hit.
Next, use high jump kick to jump out of the way of the shadow ball and do some damage.
Finally, use acrobatics to do some sick, well, acrobatics, around that shadowball and hit 'em hard.

DarkestLight
6th July 2012, 09:22 AM
Muggles, you can combo a two turn move with one other move. I dunno why the hell I wrote Dig there..

OH it was the end of the move. Like he did Bounce to go up in a previous round...now that he's falling, that's the end of the move, so that can be comboed.

BTPoke
6th July 2012, 09:26 AM
Yeah, I guess those types of moves are kind of weird in how to combo them.

I think it was Grey or someone else that said "No matter what, you have to end the attack somehow." or something.

===Stipulations===

DQ: 7 days
Banned moves: None
Number of pokemon: 3

===Round 13===

Sake tried to sit up and assess the situation. It was told to dig? But wasn't it already underground?

Man, being confused while doing a handstand really puts things in perspective. As Sake still wanders the depths of her mind, a wave of wind breezes by her,and forces her arms to lose strength. She falls right on her head...and finally snaps out of it.

CX: -5E ~~ Sak: -8H

Xeroxx is still surviving somehow. But Sake aims to end that. With a running jump...she crashes right back down onto the ground. Oh yeahhhh the gravity. Damn. She leans over to grab her ankle when her hands are mitigated by a sphere of just evil. She curses her luck before it explodes and sends her back a few more yards.

CX: -7E ~~ Sa: -6E/-17H

Xeroxx smiles and flings another Shadowball. This sphere curves wildly, and Sake notes it arrival. She couldn't jump, but she could backspring. Impeccible timing allowed the sphere to sweep under the bridge she made with her body, and then cartwheel over before sweeping Xeroxx off his feet. The Kecleon cried out in alarm, as its type finally was morphed.

GAH! how could I forget the damn gravity?

P.S. Kecleon is a b**ch to kill when someone like me is attempting to do it xD

Alright, Sake, start out by using stone edge. Then use Drain Punch, Then Acrobatics.

If they ever protect, Push the commands back and use bulk up. (for example, if protect is used first turn the commands would be Bulk Up ~ Stone Edge ~ Drain Punch)

===Round 14===

Xeroxx seemed to be out of juice. Only trained Trainers note this, everyone else sees a jolly ol Kecleon anxiously awaiting the coming of the massive mayfly swarm. Sake sees misdeeds and trickery and aims to stop it. She rushes Chris and actually manages to gut check the beast before he completely vanishes under the field. Good on ya, but now, being part rock seemed to have made it easier for Kec to dig.

CX: -3E/-18H Rck ~~ Sak: -9E

And down he stayed. And Sake waited, patiently, I might add. For quite a while too...Hope not too long, Known folks to suffocate if they stayed too long..
