Okay, this may be the first time in the franchise that I've wanted the fire starter right off the bat.

There are simply no words for the sheer beauty. It finally feels like the world, characters, Pokemon, and battles come to life, adding a dimension I haven't even seen in the Stadium series.

Ok, so some thoughts on this. First of all, I have to say, I was genuinely shocked by that announcement. We hadn't heard anything on Gen 6 until now, not a peep. Not a cameo of a new Pokemon or anything from CoroCoro as we've heard in the past. But perhaps, since Nintendo seems to be going a more conventional route with this announcement, then maybe we'll be getting more info on these games at E3 like with any other game, but we haven't typically gotten with Pokemon games.

Also, are those the final names or just code names? Come on, they could be Orange and Purple, Light and Dark, Fire and Ice, Land and Sea, or whatever, but nope, we're doing letters. Weird. Also, wasn't Pokemon X the codename for Crystal?

Liked what I saw in the trailer. The cell shading gives it that classic Pokemon look, while being in 3D. They've also made it a point to say, yup, all the old Pokemon are still there. Hoping there's a way to transfer them back to Gen 5 though. Also, liking that deer looking legendary.

So, my hopes and dreams for this generation: Can I haz new type? Seriously, it's been how many years now since we've gotten one? And how long have we gone with a Dark type with no Light type? In the run-up to Gen 5, I remember someone from Bulbagarden PMing me there and telling me about some interview where they said that they were considering new type(s) for Gen 5. Maybe we'll see something now?

Having never really progressed past Gold/Silver, it was cool to see the features that got added and some gameplay elements in the Direct video. I don't own a 3DS, but this is a cool direction for the series to be headed; I only hope I can catch up at some point.

Wow... really impressive visuals but... X and Y? Is it because the Legendaries have the look of the letters? If that's so, the "supposed" third version Legendary must look like the letter Z. Or they can screw with us like they did with the 5th gen and make X 2 and Y 2. Either way, I'm making plenty of chromosome jokes.

I love the look of all the legendaries (they're my kind of legends, lol) and I like all the starters, but I'm not so keen on the Grass-type. I want the Fire starter and I wanted it since I first saw it, can't wait to see its evolutions :3

Those starters and the legends, holy crap! They're not as cool as Reshiram and Zekrom, but they're my favourite cover legendaries so that's not too much of an issue. One detail that I love that everyone else seems to have missed is that there are going to be no spoilers for this game; since it's released at the same time all over the world it means that we'll know exactly as much as Japan and we won't even have a complete list of Pokemon until the games are released over here! I'll be going in practically blind and I love that.

I've noticed that. I wonder how much this is due to the incident last gen with some sites revealing the list of Pokemon early leading to some C&D orders. It could have been what motivated Nintendo to get the games out on a simultaneous release so that sites won't be leaking info from the Japanese versions months before the games would see an English release.

...First day. My first reaction to seeing each new gen has been 'meh' since DP, but this time, I'm impressed.

So, I've been watching the trailer several times today and I've started to notice some things, so I broke it down:

Male PC looking in the mirror:
It's in 3D! Duh. Looks like a cutscene the way the camera swings around like that. From the other scenes, it looks like the camera won't be controlled by the player.

On Route 3, approaching a town:
Looks pretty cool. Noticed a ledge off to the left. If that's one of the one-way jump-down-but-not-up ledges that have been in Pokemon since the beginning, why can't we jump up them again? Looks pretty small.:P

Swinging on the rope:
A gym? Rope/vine-swinging puzzle, obviously a grass gym if it's a gym at all.

Female PC running alongside a river:
Another route, nice scenery. Can't wait to see this all in 3D!

Male PC in a city:
Roller skates? The character doesn't seem to be moving fast enough for them to be a replacement for the bike, so maybe they're the new running shoes. But in other scenes you can see the player running. Also, back at the end of the street, it looks like a radio tower. A throwback to Gen 2? Maybe we'll see radio used heavily in these games like it was back then.

On a bridge heading out of a city.
Neat looking architecture in this game. Again, can't wait to see it in 3D.

Desert with mushroom-shaped buildings:
More cool-looking scenery. Also, maybe this is one of those ledges that we can jump down. That would make a little more sense.

Starters, battle scenes:
Finally! 3D Stadiumesque battles on a handheld! I've dreamt of this day since the N64 era! Also, Froakie can actually be seen physically hitting that Patrat in the very last attack shown in this part. The N64 wasn't able to handle representing that, so we got awkward animations where you would see a pokemon lunge forward then the other randomly flinch. So this is an improvement over the N64 (and, I do believe, the GameCube).

In a forest:
Random female trainer. Is she really following the player, or is she just one of those trainers that runs along a set path?

A wild Pikachu appeared (oh noes!):
So, old Pokemon will be catchable in these games (likely before the end of the game), so they won't be pulling a BW on us.

More battle scenes and gym scenes.
Looks like a Psychic gym, a Bug gym, and a Fire gym

Legendaries:
The Y-shaped bird:
Obviously a flying-type, but what about the other type, if any? I'm thinking dark. There's also always the possibility that they're going with part dragon for both of them, yet again.
The deer:
Hard to talk type for this one, but its antlers not only look like "X"s but they also resemble tree branches, and they showed it in a forest, so I'll bet that it's part grass.
Of course, nobody could have guessed Reshiram and Zekrom's types, or Dialga and Palkia's for that matter, so who knows.

My guess is that "Veltal" comes partyl from the quetzal bird and the Aztec god Quetzalcoatl.

And now predictions on the things that will or will not be introduced in the 6th gen:

-Pikachu clone: HAS to happen. You all know it has to.

-Generic early bird and animal: Pidgey/Spearow and Rattata. Hoothoot and Sentret. Taillow and Zigzagoon. Starly and Bidoof. Pidove and Patrat/Lillipup. I'm guessing a hummingbird and a moose are up next.

-Evil team with evil motivations: Let's see we had a bunch of criminals, the same bunch of criminals trying to restore their former glory, eco-terrorists, psuedo-god creators, and PETA. Judging solely by the title names, I'm going to assume mad scientists.

-Dark-Type Gym Leader: Game Freak has now made 5 generations worth of Pocket Monsters and they STILL haven't made a Dark-Type Gym Leader as the PWT reminds us via Dark Type Expert Tourney of that fact. I don't care if they recycle the plot of him/her also being the Leader of the evil team, I want one already!

I know I'm forgetting other stuff, so feel free to add what you think the 6th gen will bring us.

I've had one since June. I needed to replace my fairly dying DS Lite, so I think it was worth it. I do need to get an XL though, especially if the Charizard version comes to Europe. Damn is that thing awesome.

Also, I'll probably get Y then X later on. I've been getting both versions since the start of Gen V anyway and I've been getting the first version since Gen IV, so I might as well switch it up again and get the second version this time around. Also, my first 3DS Pokemon game since Rumble.

Wow these games looks amazing! I do not own a 3DS and I did not think I wanted one simply for one game nor am I a fan of 3D. Upon fiddling with one a couple of weeks ago with a friend at Best Buy however my mind has been changed. I did not realize it could do so much more than play games, that it was somewhat like a handheld wii.

My only hope however is if someone is gracious enough to spend that much for my birthday in november or Christmas.

The first time I saw a picture of the starters (which was not just now in that video), I knew instantly that I wanted that adorable and majestic fox fire starter! That is a first for me!

So I'm really late to the party, but I just saw the deer legendary and immediately thought it looked like the, well, legendary thing from Princess Mononoke. A quick googling confirms I am not remotely alone on that observation.

Heh, I remember someone a while back claiming that they worked for GameFreak and that the deer legendary was indeed based on that character, but the same person also claimed that he was working for them back in 2003 and was leaking English names back then on TPM. A look around the old threads here revealed that the person he claimed to be was just a fan who was doing research to find out names that others had leaked, and then there's the part where the same person said that Sylveon was a flying type. Would be interesting if Nintendo based a legendary on a character from another piece of fiction, but it's clear that this guy was full of it, so it's not certain.

They've confirmed a special edition 3DSXL (or in fact, 2!) for X&Y. So excited! They just haven't confirmed where they'll be available yet. If it's not available in the UK, I'm gonna hunt down a Pikachu one.

There is supposed to be a new Pokemon called Auloette according to Serebii. This was confirmed by a trailer but no pics of it have come out yet. I'm guessing it either is a female only Pokemon (due to -ette usually being a feminine suffix) or some Baby or evovled form of Audino (based on he Au- part of the name.)
