View Full Version : Random question about breeding mechanics and learnsets

Okay so! I noticed that some Pokemon have, at their earliest possible level, have more than four starting moves and, more often than not, some of these "hidden" moves are better than what you'd get finding a wild Pokemon at Level 2. I'm just wondering, if I go through the process of breeding one of them with a nubile Ditto and the aggravating process of hatching it, does the baby Pokemon get a random selection of these moves and/or can the Move Remembering Dude have the baby Pokemon "remember" a move from the learnset, even if the Pokemon never had that move in the first place?
Thanks!

Yeah, the move rememberer guy thingy can have your pokemon "relearn" those moves. It's the only way to legitimately get say a Gallade with Leaf Blade, because that's one of its level 1 moves, but Ralts can't learn it.

In the instance of some Pokemon that evolve while holding an item such as a Level 1 Slowpoke holding a King's Rock, the newly evolved Pokemon will try to remember its other starting moves as well. I traded in my Black with my White to get a low level Slowking and after evolving, the screen said it wanted to learn Power Gem followed by Hidden Power. Same for Escaviler and Accelgor after evolving at level 1.

That's fascinating... and in the words of TV Tropes, "guide dang it!" (How on earth would you know about these things unless you were a., ridiculously, ridiculously thorough with the game to the point of OCD, or b., looked them up on the interwebs)
