View Full Version : I'm surprised Game Freak didn't notice this...

I was playing Black 2 today and decided to start catching N's Pokémon. Odd natures aside, they at least seemed to match the things he had in Black and White....until Joltik. Strangely, N's Joltik seemed to have Unnerve as its ability (no matter how many times I reset to see if it was a randomly set ability like with normal wild things, it didn't change). However it had CompoundEyes as an ability in B/W. Did it find an Ability Capsule or something while wandering around Chargestone Cave, or did Game Freak just screw up on this (especially with CompoundEyes being the better ability)?

I think it's more to do with programming, in B/W the abilities of the Pokemon you faced were set, but if you encounter them in the wild in B2W2, their abilities are randomized like all other wild Pokemon, if they have two possible abilities. At least they have 30IVs and set Natures, but their Ability is random.

I tried resetting a few times to see if I could get N's Joltik to appear with its other (proper) ability, but every time it appeared, it always had Unnerve. Given that abilities are 50/50, you'd think I would have seen it come up with the other ability at some point.

Maybe N had more than one Joltik?

^Makes sense as N's Zorua and Darumanitan never made a proper appearance in BW except in the intro and his Klinklang was suggested during the final battle to have evolved from his Klink. Never directly said it was the same one but it's possible.

I know I shouldn't perform my crazy experiments in incorrect forums, but because the new posts don't add up to the actual amount of posts, deleting my new posts seems to result in the individual postcount reverse.
EDIT: Okay, I can try to make this a proper post.
First off, congrats on your first TPM message, spambot. Too bad you still have 0 posts!
Then into the topic I ride. I don't know about game programming and mechanics too much, but weren't the early Pokemon games full of glitches? And even in the anime, there are plotholes and contradictions, and Satoshi Tajiri has the same syndrome as I have, so no wonder.
