View Full Version : Pikachu Named Official Mascot For Japanese Football Team for FIFA World Cup

The Pokemon Company and official Japanese football team sponsor Adidas have announced that Pikachu will be the official mascot for the Japanese football team for this summer's 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

<a title="Pikachu's Pokedex Entry" href="http://www.pokemasters.net/pokedex/pokemon/Pikachu">Pikachu</a> will not be alone in his mascot duties. Pikachu will be joined by <a title="Meowth's Pokedex Entry" href="http://www.pokemasters.net/pokedex/pokemon/Meowth">Meowth</a>, <a title="Bulbasaur's Pokedex Entry" href="http://www.pokemasters.net/pokedex/pokemon/Bulbasaur">Bulbasaur</a>, <a title="Charmander's Pokedex Entry" href="http://www.pokemasters.net/pokedex/pokemon/Charmander">Charmander </a>and <a title="Squirtle's Pokedex Entry" href="http://www.pokemasters.net/pokedex/pokemon/Squirtle">Squirtle</a>, along with Pokemon X and Y newcomers <a title="Chespin's Pokedex Entry" href="http://www.pokemasters.net/pokedex/pokemon/Chespin">Chespin</a>, <a title="Froakie's Pokedex Entry" href="http://www.pokemasters.net/pokedex/pokemon/Froakie">Froakie</a>, <a title="Fennekin's Pokedex Entry" href="http://www.pokemasters.net/pokedex/pokemon/Fennekin">Fennekin</a>, <a title="Pancham's Pokedex Entry" href="http://www.pokemasters.net/pokedex/pokemon/Pancham">Pancham</a>, <a title="Helioptile's Pokedex Entry" href="http://www.pokemasters.net/pokedex/pokemon/Helioptile">Helioptile</a>, and <a title="Litleo's Pokedex Entry" href="http://www.pokemasters.net/pokedex/pokemon/Litleo">Litleo</a>.

The 2014 World Cup begins on June 12. Japan's opponents include Ivory Coast, Greece, and Colombia.

Awesome! And from Japan's viewpoint, it should be rather easy to make it to the top 16 once again, with these opponents in the starting division.

Cool! But in my opinion, the pic of all the Pokemon as players huddled in a circle should have had Wobbuffet in it. I mean it's a PERFECT goalie.

Someone please tell them that Lunatone is more crescent-shaped than Metapod.

Why did USA get SLOWBRO?! I would've been happy with Braviary, hell even Honduras got an awesome pokemon! They got RAYQUAZA!
