Pikachu Named Official Mascot For Japanese Football Team for FIFA World Cup

The Pokemon Company and official Japanese football team sponsor Adidas have announced that Pikachu will be the official mascot for the Japanese football team for this summer's 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Pikachu will be joined by <a title="Meowth's Pokedex Entry" href="http://www.pokemasters.net/pokedex/pokemon/Meowth">Meowth</a>, <a title="Bulbasaur's Pokedex Entry" href="http://www.pokemasters.net/pokedex/pokemon/Bulbasaur">Bulbasaur</a>, <a title="Charmander's Pokedex Entry" href="http://www.pokemasters.net/pokedex/pokemon/Charmander">Charmander </a>and <a title="Squirtle's Pokedex Entry" href="http://www.pokemasters.net/pokedex/pokemon/Squirtle">Squirtle</a>, along with Pokemon X and Y newcomers <a title="Chespin's Pokedex Entry" href="http://www.pokemasters.net/pokedex/pokemon/Chespin">Chespin</a>, <a title="Froakie's Pokedex Entry" href="http://www.pokemasters.net/pokedex/pokemon/Froakie">Froakie</a>, <a title="Fennekin's Pokedex Entry" href="http://www.pokemasters.net/pokedex/pokemon/Fennekin">Fennekin</a>, <a title="Pancham's Pokedex Entry" href="http://www.pokemasters.net/pokedex/pokemon/Pancham">Pancham</a>, <a title="Helioptile's Pokedex Entry" href="http://www.pokemasters.net/pokedex/pokemon/Helioptile">Helioptile</a>, and <a title="Litleo's Pokedex Entry" href="http://www.pokemasters.net/pokedex/pokemon/Litleo">Litleo</a>.

The 2014 World Cup begins on June 12. Japan's opponents include Ivory Coast, Greece, and Colombia.
