The Pokemon Company released details today about this month's 2014 International Challenge.
<blockquote>Pokémon fans can begin training for the 2014 International Challenge May, the latest Online Competition to put their battling skills to the test. The 2014 International Challenge May is open to all Pokémon X and Pokémon Y video game players around the world.

Registration for the 2014 International Challenge May begins at 8:00 P.M Eastern Time on Thursday, May 8, 2014, and goes until 7:59 P.M Eastern Time on Thursday, May 15, 2014, unless the player cap is reached before then. Space is limited for the 2014 International Challenge May, so it is important players register as soon as possible. The tournament starts at 8:00 P.M Eastern Time on Friday, May 16, 2014.</blockquote>

"The top 128 players in each age division in (separately for North America and Europe) will receive Championship Points. Players must be opted into the Play! Pokémon program and have a Player ID at the time the competition begins."

Does that mean players from other countries will not receive those points? (What can those points be used for anyway?)
