MEGA EVOLUTION TOWER
Welcome to the Mega Evolution Tower, where referees and trainers can find out just how Mega Evolutions work in the TPM ASB League. In this tower we will illustrate just how to handle the many different Mega Evolutions that are prevalent in the ASB.
How to...
First things first, in order to even Mega Evolve one of your pokémon, you'll need a Mega Ring and a Mega Stone. Mega Rings can be purchased here for 10 points a piece! That might sound steep, but remember that you're physically altering the state of your pokémon to be superior fighting creatures! Mega Stones, however, are a bit more tricky. Mega Stones have been spotted in the Safari Zone lately, so finding one there is your best bet. Once you find one and finish your quest, you can bring it here to get it affixed to any of your pokémon capable of Mega Evolution. Once that is done, you will only be able to Mega Evolve that pokémon with that stone.
Activating Mega Evolution
Just like in the games, Mega Evolution can only occur during battle. Mega Evolution costs an action, and has the highest priority in battle aside from switching out a pokémon. Once you have Mega Evolved one of your pokémon, you won't be able to do it again during the battle unless otherwise stated!
How Mega Evolved Pokémon Differ
Certain Mega Evolutions are much stronger than their counterparts, especially in ASB. However, a lot of pokémon capable of Mega Evolution only have aesthetic and stat changes, which aren't as evident in the league. In an effort to make all Mega Evolutions worthy of use, some pokémon will get better stat gains upon Mega Evolution than others. These stat gains exist outside of normal rules for stat gains (ex. Mega Banette gets +4 Attack upon Mega Evolution, but will still be able to raise their Attack six stages, theoretically giving them a +10).
Here is a chart that will display how some Mega Evolutions differ from their regular counterparts:
