Thanks everyone and thanks Shonta for starting the thread! Had a great birthday, was spoiled by my fiance and my family and have eaten way too much - all the indicators of a good day!

Gabi - I wish I had time to write fanfics still. Life is so hectic now, I barely get a day or two a week (either weekends of evenings) to work on my novel I am hoping to get published. But I do miss the excitement and dynamism of a serialised fic, posting each new chapter and getting feedback right away. It's a glorious medium.
