Am I the only one of the current TPMers with military experience? I remember Dark-San from Singapore telling about his service.

We have a conscription army here in Finland, meaning that almost every boy goes there. I believe that especially in the early 2000s, they didn't check the health background so strictly and that's how I was able to enter in 2004. However, I was there for one month only, then went crazy and was put into a mental hospital for about one year and a half.

Should also mention that there is also 'siviilipalvelus', civilian service, for those whose conviction doesn't allow the regular military service. Particularly the elderly folk still looks down to those who choose the civilian service. Also, since 1995, women have been able to go to a voluntary military service, too.

I named my assault rifle Kasumi. Even the non-commissioned officers were interested in my Japanese skills. One of them asked me to sing the Japanese Pokemon opening

I was not in the military, but things have gotten different in this country since I was a lad and the military was rather overtly cruel about gay folks joining.

I knew about that. I heard that during Obama's era, gay soldiers were finally allowed to tell they are gay.

I did civil service in Austria, so no army experience here.
