Widescreen Video Games?

Since widescreen TVs are starting to become more popular, when do you think video games will be made in widescreen, if at all? Gameboy Advance is taking a step, with the 6 x 4 cm screen, this means they are in a 13.5:9 ratio compared to 16:9 widescreen TVs and 12:9 full screen TVs. Would you prefer to buy a next gen console if the majority of games were in widescreen? Do you think it will be discussed by Nintendo, Sony or Microsoft sometime in the near future? Comments please.

The big companies will probably jump on the bandwagon and come out with some widescreen games. In order to not abandon us non-wide screeners though, I think they should make both versions of the game, wide screen and regular. Consoles should be able to play both. Eventually they'll all be wide screen but until then just keep it simple *shrug*
