WINTER:
The Confrontation

The Winter ended in a land where two wolf packs were fueding...

One eventually fell to the other- fell apart because of misguidance and the loss of the Alpha male leadership- he had died. After fueding and turmoil with in that pack... one of the gamma wolves left, followed by another. The pack was left alone with out two more wolves, and was then killed.
The other pack which had been fueding with the now perished pack, did not die. They were led by two strong Alphas, and their own pack members were strong which followed. They also had pups, which even in the harsh winter survived...

The winter however, was ridiculed. There was a legend which the Alpha knew of, about the winter that would unleash the demons of the world which would test the descendants of the ancient wolves. That winter did come... and all through little is known of what happened it is known of this- that several packs diminished or vanished with out a trace. But that was 20 years ago... and there are new packs with in their place.

Deep with in a land, there are two wolf packs. They're domain consists of many towering and large, snowy-capped mountaints with huge, lush forests and valleys. The land is beautiful and practically unscaved by humans or any unnatural contact. The only beings which dwell upon this beautiful, lust landscape is the animals which were born from time there...
The two packs have lived next to each other for many years. There used to be three packs there, but unfortunately that pack fell apart due to it's own personal problems, and then was chased off as soon as their numbers were weak by the other two remaining packs. These two packs- The Ekimo and the Halakei, have only one thing which divides their lands. A small, narrow strip of land which has a river running through it... called the, "Void." All free wolves are safe to travel in there, but currently there are no free wolves that have entered the Ekimo and Halakei lands.

But turmoil often happens with in the magest lands of the mountains...

It is currently fall... and the leaves are changing colors and the land is harvesting all the goods which it held. Winter is brewing... but in the middle of fall, it still is far away. The snows of the north have yet to come... and even frost is scarcely seen. However, many unusual things are taking place...
The birds are becoming rather persistant, talking far more often than usual and fluttering about with cries of 'darkness' with in their call. Wolves cannot understand the chatter of teh birds... but they can understand a few distinct cries. Not only that, but the deer and the Caribou which the wolves hunt are beginning to rapidly move out of their land. This is quite a strange thing... considering those animals stayed with in the massive, outstretched borders of the Ekimo and Halakei.
With these odd events happening... the Ekimo and the Halakei are beginning to grow friction between each other and the void. With hunting growing a little scarce and the tension of the oncoming winter, both packs are beginning to become untolerant of any mishappenings between each other.
The death of a wolf will cause one pack to accuse the other...
A lone figure will emerge...
A war will start...
And the ultimate confrontation will occur..

Okay! Here is the Master Form which will show who is who in the RPG, and how the packs are sorted.

Alright, now let’s start!! The time frame is that it’s Early Autumn, and it’s afternoon. ^^ Take it from there!

Name: Lunaer Falline
Gender: Female
Age: Leaning only slightly to Elder Adult...
Pack: N/A - Lone Wolf
Rank: n/a
Appearance: Her entire body is sleek and graceful, and at first glance she looks not extremely fit and trim but rather more elegant as far as speed-built goes. Her muzzle is rather slimmer than most wolves, along with her legs and over body- which is slimmer and lighter built than most wolves. Her fur is very thick and silky, shinning of good condition as well although she doesn't seem as fit as most wolves. In color, her fur is a deep, dark black color with no alterations but being pure black with no additive colors except for one. Around her eyes, is an amber, golden/brown colored patch of silky fur upon the tips of her ears and at the tip of her muzzle and at the lower base around the right eye. This markings have a slightly reddish tint to them as well, but an auburn-type red. Her eyes are the eerie thing about her however... they are both icy, icy silver in color- showing no signs of any color except for the platinum silver. One of her eyes- the right one, occasionally glazes over from time to time as well.
Personaltiy: She's rather mysterious and aloof. She's been known to be really kind and rash, and at other times snapping at wolves and giving them death threats. Other then that... not many wolves try to find her unless they want to know things.
Relations: Unknown - (no one has signed up...)
Thoughts: She's neutral on all matters... she really has no opinion about anyone or anything. Although she takes a liking to younger wolves... perhaps just because they are so youthful. She tends to not like many Alphas either... maybe she has something against authority.
Other: She lives in the "Void", and roams about. However, she's known as the, "Witch Wolf"- the wolf that can tell the future. This may or may not be true, but she is the wisest wolf out of all wolves around. She knows a lot about the past which helps her... Because of her extensive knowledge and 'predicting' skills, many wolves at times come to find her for her guidance. Even if she is a strange, eerie wolf....

Lunaer Falline – F – Lone Wolf (A.K.A “Witch Wolf”)
**

Colors…
There was, is, and will always be a reason that in the autumn the colors consist of brown, maroon, amber, beige, tawny, golden, yellow, and other warm-brown colors which all branch from the same constant- red and yellow. In the autumn, things die… and when things die, they’re bodies rot into the ground if they are not eaten by the predators. The red bases that colors are from represents blood, or death. The yellow represents sickness… for only those who are sick turn the pale color of yellow.
Of course, there is not just sickness and death in autumn- life can come anew.
But only from death.

That is just one of the things I have come to know of from the seasons… and of course, t here is far more reasons to fear the autumn colors than just what they mean. Wolves, putnar (putnar means ‘predator’), all things should fear autumn because it is the sign which states clearly to all that winter is coming. Winter is the real death, which is as plain as the white luminous flavor it gives to all with snow, ice and the deathly cold fingers which it uses to kill.
This winter shall be deadly… almost as deadly as the demonic winter which happened many years ago.
I thought, smirking to myself as I stood a few miles from my home. My home was just a bunch of old twigs, torn branches and a few old trees which collected the dead wood. I had stragically placed them tightly together with nothing but my jaws and wit which caused them to create a strange cave of not rock, but of dead things. Only a few daring wolves come there… never just to say hi, never to visit me. I was the Witch Wolf. Clever name they give me, for because I can foresee what things are to come and because of my strange, ‘bewitching’ ways, they give me such a name. Funny, clever.
The only reason most wolves come to me, is because they want some thing. They want to know how their pack will do, where the best hunting grounds are in a certain season, how harsh the winter will be…
Anything that they are worried about, the pack will send their most daring wolves to come ask me. I do not know why they are so fearful- an old wolf like me could not possibly hurt a good, sleek wolf like most packs have. Yet, perhaps they believe I can harness the forces to do evil upon them. Funny… maybe, funny.

Yawning slightly, I tipped my muzzle to the leafy ground and smelled the dying earth. It smelled beautiful…and my silver-plated eyes scanned the golden forest about me, I quickly licked my teeth out of habit and began to scan the area of the void for some good, easy food to feed.

Name: Arigato Quen
Gender: Male
Age: Adult
Pack: Ekimo
Rank: Alpha Male
Appearance: (Attached below, he's the big, fluffy and colorful wolf in my attachment.)
Personaltiy: Very noble and strong headed. He's very neutral and tries to avoid contact with other packs... but if he feels threatened, he will outlash at the attacking pack quickly. His personality seems strong and reliable, which offers comfort and support to those who may want or need it. He tends to be a bit of a pushover however when the Alpha Female or any of the other wolves want some thing... he wants his pack to be happy.
Relations: Mate to Darkfrost
Thoughts: He is getting a bit anxious towards these strange signs... he's afraid of what it could be. He's also a bit nervous with the Halakei pack... keeping a watchful eye for everything.
Other: (bwee!)

Arigato Quen – M – Alpha of Ekimo

The sun was high in the sky, and I was beginning to think maybe I didn’t have to worry. But then again, the Halakei pack always worried me. I didn’t like much conflict, but then… if a neighboring pack did some thing wrong or broke the rules according to the Ekimo’s eyes, I would act. Never hesitate- that was always my motto… and I would forever go by it.
The Halakei pack was led by a stag Alpha, for they had no female to help lead them which comforted me some what. It was always best for a pack to have two alphas, one of each gender, and we had that where as they did not. My mate, Darkfrost, was extremely strong as well, for she was wise and very powerful in her own demeanor. I could count on her for anything, for she could take down even the strongest of males and females alike, while keeping her strong sense of mind as well. Those reasons alone were one of the many that I was drawn to her… and she never has let me down.
Enhaling a deep breath, I slowly trodded along one of our worn territorial lines. Our whole pack was patrolling our borders, hunting, and analyzing our land for a brief time before late fall came and we would have to pick the best spot to stay for the winter. I also wanted to know where our prey would be the most dependable… but that was not looking good.
That was one of the reasons I was afraid… the prey was scarce compared to most years. They were thick in the spring… but as fall came, they started to dwindle. It was not to our fault, not to the putnar- we were not obsessively eating them. They were just… vanishing. I did not see most of them leave… it was as if they were being ate up with out a trace of bone or flesh. This made me nervous… but deep inside, I was hoping it was just a fluke. Prey was still in our land… and we were well off for staying healthy and strong. But if it got worse… I would have to do some thing.
I had yet to decide what.

One of our Omegas went into the void a few weeks ago, and she scanned the area of the Halakei pack with out entering it, and by doing that she reported back that they seemingly were having the same problems. So it wasn’t that the prey went into Halakei territory… thankfully. But then again… if our prey ran too low, we might have to try to take over Halakei territory to hunt and survive. That would cause problems… obviously… but again, Ekimo was strong.
“ We’ll do whatever it takes…” I thought, as a few of the pack members were stirring from their afternoon naps.

Name: Amaki
Gender: Female
Age: Young Adult
Pack: Halakei
Rank: Omega 3
Appearance: See attachment below. She's the white wolf... ^^ Her eyes are a different color however. Her right is is a mysterious, violet-like swirling magenta, while the other is an icy blue.
Personaltiy: She's very curious about things, but extremely kind towards all other wolves. She tries to be very hopeful on any view point, but she's not bubbly or optimistic. She's smart, but some times a bit niave on issues that are more serious and severe.
Relations: She’s really friendly with the whole pack, but she talks to Jachai a lot. Jaeger is some one she really looks up to and she tends to like to agree with his thoughts.
Thoughts: She's hoping things will just get better and is more focused on the 'now' then the, 'later'.
Other:

Amaki – F- Omega 3 of Halakei

A small, yet eventful splash of water was good enough for me to get my spirits off better. There was a small stream which ran through the area that our pack was staying at. Many were lounging about for a nap in the afternoon… but some others were thinking to themselves or out scouting. I however, decided that a dip in the stream would suffice as a good source of relaxing. I had took a long, cool drink of the spring water as it filled my thirsty body and parched throat… and then I decided to go in. Sticking my two front paws into the cool stream, I then simply jumped into the middle of it- sending small drops flying every where in a cool mist. My tail wagged slightly as I had all four paws in the cool water, and dipped my muzzle into the stream to cool my nose and face as well. The water ran down my almost-white coat easily, for my coat was pretty healthy and repelled the water pretty well.

As I stood in the water, I gazed about me…
The colors were changing, and autumn was settling in for a while… at least, until winter would come. Our pack was prepared however, for our strong Alpha, Jaeger, was leading us well. Sure, I knew we were a bit nervous at the lack of prey compared to our more plentiful seasons… but I was sure that things would get better. If not, we would always find a way to survive… we always had. Even though we had changed Alphas, I believed that we were well off even with out an Alpha female. We were strong…we always have been, why should it change?

“It won’t..” I said to myself softly, as my wild, two-colored eyes gave a gleam as I drank more of the stream water while standing with in it.

Phoenix~The Beta

I sat upon a hill, watching the birds. I saw a eagle fly above me, headed to thicker brush. My eyes followed it. I threw my head up, and howled my sweet tone. I ran after it, hoping it had found food. As the eagle flew higher and higher, I could not reach it, and it was out of sight. I stoppped, and howled again.

I gave up the search, and walked to a stream that Amaki was standing in. I calmy walked closer to the Omega

Name: Twi
Gender: F
Age: Teen
Pack:Halakei Pack
Rank: Omega 4
Appearance: She seems almost to thin for her frame at first glance. Seems is the word though. She is very lean but any bulk she does have is all muscle. She's not the best long distance traveler but no one can beat her in a sprint. She has a amber reddish/gold coat colour. Her coat is is very sleek almost all year long. Very soft to the touch. Also had black flecks throughout her coat. When she loses her coat in the spring though it's so ragged you'd think she got sick. She has sky blue eyes that fade to green close to the pupil.
Personality: Cares for everyone and will not leave an injured member behind. She will rarely fight with another pack member or anybody for that matter. She always backs down and lets them have their way-most of the time. She will ferociously defend a injured pack member although, even to the death if neccesary. Even a non-pack member who she thinks deserves helping/defending she will help (gets her into trouble sometimes). She is very observant and is listening when she seems not to be. She takes a LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time to get angry but when she is angry RUN LIKE MAD! She is NOT pleasent when pissed off. She is a loyal friend and very trustworthy.
Relations: Sister to Dark Winter.
Thoughts: She really does not want a fight between the two packs. Worries about the mounting tensions between the two packs. Is getting very jumpy as the tensions go up. Ready to take off in a shot.
Other: She has extensive knowledge of healing herbs and can heal almost anything. Whether diesase (sp?) or cut. She wandered onto the free land not to long ago and the Halakei pack adopted her in. She won't tell anything of her past. Sometimes she lets pieces out though.

I yawned as I woke up from my nap. I had slept through most of the day and I felt like wondering now. I got up and stretched my muscles.

I heard a splash and looked over to see Amaki jump into the river. Grinning to herself as she let the water run off her fur.

I shoke my head at her antics and saw Phoenix approch her. I was slightly hungry but more thirsty then anything else.

I trotted up to the river that made the divide between our pack and the Ekimo pack. Lately the hunting had been worse then usual. The prey was dissapearing, we with no idea where they were going.

I sighed and took a long drink from the river while Amaki and Phoenix talked.

After I finished my drink I turned to the two other wolves. I looked back and saw our alpha Jaeger getting up. We may only have one alpha but I felt that our pack was still strong a it is.

I approached Jaeger bowing my head as I did so and said, "Jeager would it alright if I went out for a while to catch some food, just a rabbit or squrriel. I'm slightly hungry."

I don't think Yellow is a good color for this forum. Oy!

Name: Dark Winter
Gender: Male
Age: Young Adult
Pack: Halakei
Rank: Subordinate
Appearance: Dark is surprisingly well-muscled for a subordinate, though he doesn't compare much to the others. His fur is an incredibly midnight black. His eyes are a fierce blood red, but tend to show more warmth than spite. His fur, though not long, is incredibly dense, like a forest canopy. Which helps keep him warm in the winter. His tail is thicker than others and his muzzle is a bit broader, too. There's a fading scar under his right eye.
Personaltiy: Dark likes youngsters, that's one reason for the fact that he's a subordinate. He likes to exercise, and he likes to exercise the older pups for when they are adults. He is rather intelligent, clever, and very overprotective of the pups in his care. Though he may not be as strong as many of his superiors, he can sometimes be twice as fearsome. He can be very cranky, and also easy to anger. He fears two things: death of self and others, as well as fire. He's had bad experiences with fire.
Relations: Brother of Twy (if PichuLuver gets here)
Thoughts: He's so bent on taking care of the pups, he doesn't even have a clue as to what is going on.
Other: Dark's a sleepwalker, and suffers nighterrors almost constantly. The two combined has caused problems in the past.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Alright, let's not dawdle. We still have a mile or two before we can head back home," a deep, smooth voice rang out. Under the multi-colored trees of the forests, a midnight black wolf was running around back and forth, checking to see if all of the pups were there. They wouldn't appreciate this endurance march, but they would thank him when they grew up. This was perhaps his second favorite thing in the world. It would only be better if it were summer. During the hottest part of the day, he would round up every pup, whether they liked it or not, and would make the older ones march to the end of their territory in the open heat. It was now autumn, though, so he had to do the best he could. Again ahead of the youngsters, his blood-colored eyes noticed that one pup was considerably behind. He slowed his pace so as to talk to the pup.

(Since the pups are NPC's. I guess the first to mention them gets to name them :D)

"A little bit behind aren't we, Eve?" he said to the brown-furred pup.
"Sorry, Shady, my legs' are giving up," she responded. He had to grin for a moment. Shady was the name the pups had given him. The older ones' told him it was because Dark just sounded depressing and he was always nice to them.

"Well, see if you can catch up to the others. If you can get halfway back on your own, I'll let you ride on my back."

To this offer, Eve gave him a delighted squeal, and she bolted toward the back. He chuckled to himself before going back to the head of the line, pointing out various things on the path. Sometimes a scarce moose or caribou would come up and just stand there. It wasn't Dark's job to hunt, and that seemed to be common knowledge among the wolves' prey. The sight of them iritated Dark to great extent. They always seemed to be taunting him, acting tall and arogant, knowing that he was on his own and not strong enough to bring one down. One of the many reasons he never tried to be friendly with one, not that he'd blame them if they didn't want to be friendly with him.

Finally, they reached the edge of their territory near the Void and so they headed back home. Dark couldn't help it, but he turned his head to look back into the Void. Sometimes he wondered what he would find in, or across, the Void. He knew about the other pack, Ekimo, and he always wanted to know what they were like. What was it that made the two so different, anyway? There's a question he might want to ask Jaeger or one of the older wolves. There were also stories about that 'Witch Wolf.'

"I wonder what makes her so scary," Dark said to no one in particular. In general, he never understood everyone's fear of her.

"Maybe they fear her because she can predict the future whether it be good...or bad," a voice piped up. Dark looked down to see Eve was talking to him again. She knew his mind well.

"How could you tell," he asked.
"Well, I notice that you tend to ask about her a lot," she responded, "What about her interests you, Shady?"

"You know, You're pretty smart for a pup your age," he complimented before continuing, "I find it interesting that not many of us know anything about her. I'm still a young adult, I don't know everything that goes on. I may noy be a pup, anymore, but I'm still curious about things I don't understand."

The group continued on in silence. Eve soon tired out, and Dark was forced to carry her on his back. The others groaned in protest, but quickly quieted down. It was a bad idea to anger Dark, and, besides, if they behaved, he would have a treat or two ready for them. Usually a small squirrell or rabbit that he managed to catch. Sometimes, he could get something a little bigger, but they were content with what they got. It was always a nice back up if the adults couldn't find anything for the pups.

"I wonder what we'll have to do if we can't find enough food here. I know I'd like to find out more about the rival pack, but I don't want to know through conflict."

Name: Achaea Solstice
Gender: Female
Age: Young Adult
Pack: Ekimo
Rank: Omega 4
Appearance: Click here (http://www.avatarcatz.envy.nu/achaea.html) to see a picture of her. She looks exactly like that, except more feminine. It might be just me, but that picture looks more like a guy wolf to me ^_^;;
Personality: Achaea's sort of quiet, and she kind of keeps to herself. She's not one to get into fights, or butt into conversations - she basically doesn't really speak unless spoken to, unless she's around a close friend. Her self-esteem is kind of low, which is part of why she's so quiet. She doesn't think very highly of herself, and she's always afraid she'll say or do something wrong and then others won't like her or something like that. (Geez, she kinda sounds like me at school....)
Relations: She seems to have a little crush on Nicolas....
Thoughts: She's a little bit confused as to what's going on. She understands that something is happening, and she understands that it's not good, but she doesn't know what exactly is going on, or why.
Other: She loves the snow and has an odd fear of the full moon, for some crazy, unknown reason. (Now she REALLY sounds like me....)

*****

I padded quietly along through the forest, just looking around. The afternoon sun filtered through the gold-red canopy, casting shadows on the forest floor. The forest was beautiful in the autumn, but I was more looking forward to the winter, to the silver-white snow blanketing everything... at least, I had been. But now, with the way things were going, I was a little nervous about winter's coming. I didn't know what was going on, exactly, but I could tell it wasn't anything that was any good. Our prey's numbers seemed to be slowly and mysteriously diminishing, along with the prey from the Halakei pack, which Arigato Quen, the Alpha male of our pack, had sent me to scout out. If this kept up, there may not be enough food to go around when winter hit - and that would definitely pose a problem.

I stopped suddenly, not entirely sure of why I had done so until I realized I had almost walked straight into a tree. Thinking and walking at the same time seemed to be not the greatest of ideas. Shaking my head, I headed around the tree and continued my walk.

Name: Jachai Haze
Gender: Male
Age: Young Adult
Pack: Halakei
Rank: Omega 1
Appearance: His fur is snow-white at the roots, but as you go up each strand it turns to a sort of silvery-grey, giving him a look like he's been frosted over with silver paint. His ears and tail are tipped with midnight black, and his two front paws are black as well. His eyes are golden, but sky blue around the pupils.
Personality: He's kind of happy and goofy, and he loves to make others laugh. If someone's down, you can bet he'll be there to cheer them up. Jachai is just kind of in love with life. He thinks things should be fun, and that you should spend your time worrying about the future.
Relations: He has a bit of a crush on Amaki ^_^;;
Thoughts: Like I said in personality, he doesn't like to worry about things. He's an optimistic kind of guy - he figures things will work themselves out for the best eventually.
Other: None.

POUNCE!

And a miss, as the beetle I had been stalking flew off. I sighed, but quickly got over it. It wasn't as if I needed it to survive or anything. It was just a beetle!

I bounded off, full of energy and bored enough to work it off. I tore around the forest, jumping over a log, dodging around a tree, leaping over a bush...

...and landing in a stream. A fairly cold stream. I let out an involutary yelp, completely shocked.

"Okay, WHO put that stream there?" I asked no one - at least, I thought I did. Giggles from behind me served to prove otherwise. I turned to see Amaki and Phoenix behind me, laughing softly. My face heated slightly, but I quickly got over my embarrassment.

"Ladies, how's it going?" I asked, slicking my already-wet fur back with a paw and giving them a goofy grin.

I walked into the stream, seeing Jachai aproaching. My black, feathed tail wagged as he aproached "Hello there sir. My name is Phoenix, Beta of this land. I don't usually go with others, but, I can speak to you. There is no laws that I know of that an beta cannot speak with a lower rank. What be your name?"

Name: Winterdew
Gender: Female
Age: Teen
Pack: The Ekimo
Rank: Omega 2
Appearance: At first glance, Winterdew appears to be one of the hunters of the pack. This assumption would be indeed true, for beneath her undercoat of beige fur were muscles that she's been using since she was old enough to participate in hunts. Pure white fur was scattered among the beige pelt, giving it a shimmering appearance. Her large nose was a healthy brown and eyes were goldenrod yellow.
Personaltiy: Because of her atheltic build, Winterdew is often used in important matters for the Ekimo Pack, such as hunting for the daily meal, or protecting the weaker for possible intruders. Winterdew's mind is usually somewhere else, be it conversing with that male wolf beside her or enjoying a relaxing winter day. Winterdew can be summed up as a 'scatterbrain', but still has plenty of times to learn how to behave properly in a pack.
Relations: None, anyone wanna be related to Winterdew? o_o
Thoughts: Winterdew is slightly aware of the situation, but still not sure what's going on around her.
Other: I have a nice pic of Winterdew, but had to edit it because it was too big.

~ [ Winterdew

I padded through the Ekimo territory, nose kept low to ground to keep up with the faint scent of caribou I traced earlier. I heard the soft trot of another wolf and recongized it as Achaea, the quiet female Omega. Forgetting the caribou for now, I turned in her direction to give a quick hello - perhaps she'd like to help in the hunt.

Just as I was about to bark my greeting, I watched her almost walk into a tree. I giggled, as I pounced next to her to make my entrance. "I've done that plenty of times before - it's just like the tree pops out of nowhere, eh?" Another giggle.

Achaea smirked. "So what brings you over here, Winterdew? I'm sure Arigato gave us all something worthwhile to do, not to go off and stalk wolves..."

I pawed her playfully. "Actually, I was following a fresh scent of caribou and found you, busy running into trees. Care to help out with the hunt?"

8th June 2003, 09:29 PM
Name: Jarro Ferstorm
Gender: Male
Age: Youngish Adult
Pack: Eskimo
Rank: Omega 1
Appearance: Pelt is entirely black; the only point that stops the flow of black is a violent scar running down his left flank and a nick off the top of his left ear. The fur is fairly short, though he doesn't become cold. His eyes are yellow, usually quite placid looking, but can become an almost glowing, entirely fierce yellow when he’s pissed off, hunting, or otherwise excited. Frame is somewhat wiry, but not lanky. Canines protrude somewhat more than is typical over his lower lip.
Personality: As of yet has proven to be loyal; dedicated to the pack. Willing to work diligently--this applies quite firmly to him. I’m not going to get into too much personality here because… *shrug* You’ll see what he’s like as the RPG goes, I s’pose.
Relations: …???
Thoughts: He doesn’t usually speak much on this… If he does, it’s not always the truth. He tends to keep his opinions to himself.
Other: He wasn’t born into the pack; he showed up not terribly long ago. Since that time he’s proven himself by working well with the other wolves of the Eskimo pack.

Jerro Ferstorm ~ Eskimo Pack ~ Omega 1
--------------------------------------------------------------

My ears twitched slightly, my nostrils flared, and my eyes sharpened as I caught the scent of an unfamilair wolf on the wind. Strange times were about us, and one could only expect the worst. This had been my mantra for quite some time; many wolves of my own pack seemed to stray from this, however. Caution was, for many, a fickle shadow, passing only for a short while. For my own self it was nearly constant... Perhaps it was better this way, though.

The wolf passed on even as I stood alert, waiting for any sign of danger. Overall, it was better that the other passed on. Much as I would have enjoyed a fight, the time was wrong for such a trivial manner. There were bigger things to attend to. As the world was becoming stranger, something was happening. Inside, I knew that I could be a part of this. I knew that I wanted to be a part of this.

There were signs that many failed to see. There were occurances that most missed. I caught them, had been tracking them. They had, in fact, been what had led me to the pack. Not that anyone had been told of this; I kept it to myself. Better they not know. Although there seemed to be no suspicion at the time, anything could spark the dangerous curiosity.

The future of this time, this place, was unfathomable to most. I could feel it as electricity, hovering in the air. There was a new sensation, something of a change waiting to happen, perhaps starting to happen.

This was new, and it was happening.

Grinning wolfishly, I turned and started back toward the others. No sense in arousing suspicion, and there were no doubt messages to be heard from the main body of the pack...

Name~ Cloud Silverwind
Gender~ Female
Age~ Young Adult
Pack~ N/A-Lone Wolf
Rank~ N/A
Appearance~ Is slightly sleek, but has a small bit of muscle within her legs. Muzzle appears average-sized from a far distance, but is actually only a centimeter slimmer than the average. Her fur isn't that silky, but can shine some even if she is nearly as fit as most wolves. In color, her fur seems to be pitch black except the few streaks of gray on her tail and back. Around the eyes, is fur that seems whitish-gray in light, but is truely a pure gray. Her eyes are a deep blue color, without any sight of any other color except near the pupils, which is a circle of silver.
Personality~ Is usually dark(dark depressive) and silent, occasionally threatening to kill herself or somebody else. She usually tends to care about almost nobody, but once you get to know her, she'll seem calm and gentle. Cloud seems lonely for a lone wolf, but will lie to not admit it.
Relations~ Ikana's (somehow separated) younger sister
Thoughts~ She believes it doesn't matter of the war's outcomes....Proof that she is deep at being a neutral. She truely dislikes most alphas, but won't admit why.
Other~ Apparently lives within the "Void", but will not dare to journey outside the borders....Even if she isn't the "Witch Wolf", she'll sometimes prophesize happenings...But can't see what will exactly happen.

Colors....All I see 'mong the trees...

Autumn, the only meaning of these leaf colors was death. Autumns colorful sight only lead to winter......pure white within cold. The light breeze ruffled against my pelt(fur) as this thought continued leaving its mark within my mind. But what lay ahead this winter? Could it be like that....of long ago?

I laid down in boredom, watching the crystal river near. This sight usually soothed my nerves....It's happened ever since I was a mere pup. I sighed and thought again, if war broke out, what would be the impact on my homeland, the Void? Yet, to me, it really didn't matter....I just wished to know if a war would happen. I sighed and lifted off the ground and searched around the Void, hopeful to find prey of some sort....

"I've done that plenty of times before - it's just like the tree pops out of nowhere, eh?"

I nearly jumped out of my skin as someone jumped out in front of me, startling me, but I calmed when I saw it was Winterdew, the female Omega two ranks higher than me. She was a bit younger than me, but we got along well. Sometimes I felt like she was my younger sister.

"So what brings you over here, Winterdew?" I asked, smirking. "I'm sure Arigato gave us all something worthwhile to do, not to go off and stalk wolves...."

Winterdew pawed at me playfully, grinning. "Actually, I was following a fresh scent of caribou and found you, busy running into trees. Care to help out with the hunt?"

I wasn't totally as built for hunting as Winterdew was - I was a little bit on the scrawny side, and not as fast as most wolves - but I'd been in more than one hunt in my lifetime, so I wasn't useless or anything.

"Sure," I said, lowering my nose to pick out the scent while Winterdew did the same. The smell of caribou was familiar, and not hard to find. We looked at each other.

"That way!" we said in unison, before taking off after our prey.

Name: Darius
Gender: Male
Age: Teen
Pack: Halakei
Rank: Omega 5
Appearance: Has ice blue eyes with a blood red tint near the pupils. Has snowy white streaks along his back and his fur is mainly grey with hints of snow-white in places. Quite well-built for a teen.
Personality: Lazy and not-too-bothered. Has really no concern for the rival pack and stays out of the way of the lone wolves. Only really joins in the hunt and most of the time plays with the pups and talks to the subordinate. Doesn't care for rank or respect but will usually obey orders. Full of resent but usually stays out of trouble.
Relations: Unknown to him but maybe known to others, his something-uncle was 'Darius the Great Divider' who effectively broke up the pack that caused it to fall. Allegedly Darius was either killed by the enemy pack, defected to the enemy pack or commited suicide, but no one really knows.
Thoughts: Eating, sleeping, playing. At the moment.

Darius

I heard voices coming my way. I was well into our own territory so I stayed out in the open. No way would a hostile wolf get this close to the den. I sucked on the bones of the squirrel I had just killed and looked on to Dark Winter, or 'Shady', on 'puppy patrol' as per usual. Shame. I remember my last years as a pup. Shady had just started as 'pup patrol' after the last subordinate had been trampled on by a herd of moose. Nonetheless, he looked pretty packed in. I overheard that they were talking about the 'witch wolf'. I smirked. Nothing but fables and nonscence. Nonetheless, Shady was my only real mate in the pack, even though I treated him a bit harshly at times. I gathered the three squirrels I had caught and put them on my back. Easy prey if you hide all their nuts in one tree. I wandered along and joined Shady walking along with the pups.
"Hey, it's Darius!" Some of the older pups said. They were youngsters when I first left the pup pack. Shady smiled and noticed the squirrels on my back.
"Still up to your old antics, eh, Darius?" he asked me. I smirked. The patrol stopped as I threw a couple of squirrels on the ground and the pups munched on them. Eve slipped off Shady's back and joined the feast. Shady and I laid down. I looked behind me.
"Viscious little tykes. In my day..." I began.
"In your day, you caught more food I did!" Shady replied.
"What's been happening out at the Void today?" I asked. He replied,
"The usual. Nothing."
"Figures. I don't know why you even bother going out there. Why don't you go halfway and just muck around like me?"
"Because if something DOES happen, I'll get the blame. Anyway, it's not a very good example."
"Ah, touché. Anyway, where's Kyi?" I asked menacingly as I stuck my nose into the pups. Back in the pup pack, Kyi was my best friend, despite the vast age difference because he looked onto my like an older brother. However, when I asked this question, he ran away as this was our little game we played. The other pups loved to watch this. Kyi tried to scamper away but I quickly swept him towards me with my paws.
"Oh dear, that was much too slow. You've been eating too much squirrel, making this belly so heavy and soft!" I said and I rubbed my nose into his belly. He began laughing as this is what happened if I caught him; I tickled him. After a few seconds I reliquinished this game and looked up at the sun.
"Hmm, I've been out too long. I was due back for duty a while ago. Jeez, Jaegar is gonna kill me. Mind if I tag along with you? I can say I was looking after the pups as an excuse."
He sighed.
"Fine, tag along. Jaegar won't care what you say. You know, you'd better watch your step, or you might be the next subordinate," he said. I laughed.
"Nah, I'm far too strong. I've got too much potential according to Jachai to be a subordinate. C'mon, let's boogie!"
And with that we continued our journey.

Since there are pups in Halakei (I do'nt know how... we have no female Alpha. ^^;;; Oh well... umm... we'll leave that and just pretend. We'll only have four pups however. Here are the list of them:

My sparkling eyes glimmered slightly... as my magenta, violet-like eye twinkled as Phoenix introduced herself to Jaeger. I couldn't help but let out a small giggle... which caused her to look at me.
"Oh, come on Phoenix... just because your a lower rank than Jaeger, doesn't mean he doesn't know you exist."
Phoenix let off a small smile... asI nodded to Jaeger.
" I'm going to find the pups... if that is alright with you Jaeger. I was sort of hoping to find Nyoku."
Jaeger nodded..
"Be back before the sun touches the ground... I plan on having a pack meeting."
I nodded.
"I promise."
Jaeger's tone was soft and a little whispy whenever he talked t ome... although i knew he had a strong voice, for some reason it trailed a bit whenever it was directed towards me. I never knew why... but I didn't really mind. Jaeger always had a pretty good demeanor..

I quickly bounded out of the stream, shook my fur so that a spray of watery mist came from my pelt, and then I dug my claws into the ground and took off towards the direction where I could smell the heavy smell of pups in the air. The wind rippled through my icy, snow-white coat as my two colored-eyed gaze scanned the forest for the shapes of small, little pawed animals romping about through the forest. It took a while... as I padded towards the direction of the void, until suddenly saw six figures. Four of them little and frolicing about the other two... and immediatly I knew I had found them.

"Darius! Dark!"
I gave a short and rather smooth bark towards them, as I raised my tail slightly in the air and padded over to them briskfully. The sun was high and it gleamed off my albino-like coat, which made me stand out like a sore thumb in the middle of autumn. My icy blue eye upon my left and my violet eye upon the right of my face didn't help me to stand in either. I didn't mind however... when I was a pup I was teased, but now mostly everyone seemed to take my abnormalities pretty well. Some times my eyes creeped my fellow pack members out when I stared, but other wise they didn't remind me about it too much.
"Amaki?"
A soft, low yet very cheerful and rather bold voice pipped up. My eyes widened as I saw a little bundle of fluff come running towards me as I came closer to the little pup pack and their two elder leaders.
The bundle of fluff was a mixture of many tawny, mahogany and various other brown colors... but upon the tips of his ears and the main frame of his large muzzle and front legs were streaks of blackened grey, flecked with intermixes of auburn. His golden eyes were open as he tackled my right leg and immediatly jumped up to lick the end of my chin.
"Nyoku! Your awefully energetic today!"
I said, licking him in between his eyes as I turned my flickering gaze up to Darius, Dark and th eother pups which were approaching me.
" Shady took us into the void!"
"Oh really?"

I let loose a small smile, as I turned my head up to gaze at Dark, or Shady as the pups called him.
" Going into the void again? Find anything?"
Dark shook his head, rather quietly... and I sighed. Darius and Dark were always pretty quiet... I didn't know if it was around me only, or if it was everyone. It made me sort of ... distant, but It ried to over look it.
" Well... I heard there was a witch wolf. I tell you, if there was a witch wolf inside there... I'd love to ask her what good times were in store for our pack."
Eve looked back as if thinking...
" Yeah... hopefully nothing bad!"
I looked at Eve and smiled, "Naw, only good for us strong Halakei members!"
Darius shook his head...
" There is nothing there...and no Witch Wolf either. It's just putnar talk to scare the pups..."
I laughed, "Still, maybe."

I wagged my tail as I continued..
"So, you guys heading back?"
Darius and Dark nodded, as I shook my head to myself.
"I'll go back with you, I just asked Jaeger if I could come here. He said when the sun touches the ground we'll have a meeting... so we should head back anyway. There's some left over deer too you pups could eat."
"YAY!" Vay cried, as she began to charge back to our den area... as Eve gave a growl fo disapproval.
"But we just ate squirrel!"
" But I'm hungry!" Vay said, turning her head to gaze at Eve. Eve sighed, as Dark let a small smirk escape and I laughed.
" It's good to see the pups so energetic... "

Phoenix walked from the group, looking back "I'm going to see if I can find a rabbit" A cold breeze tossed my ruff "Winter will be coming, and we need to hunt" I started to padd away "Anyone that wants to, can follow" I trotted off

My paws crackled against the many dry and colourful leaves on the terra. I gave a small growl "If this keeps up, the prey will be scared by these stupid leaves". I walked in a wolf's hunting pace, all paws in a straight line

Gender: Female
Age: Young Adult
Pack: Ekimo
Rank: Alpha, w00t!
Appearance: Her fur is long, dark gray, and it shimmers in light. Her eyes, a piercing yellow that look really eerie in moonlight. She's extremely sturdy, defiantly in the prime of her life.
Personality: Trespasser beware. This is not the one you want to cross. She's not overly aggressive, but get on her bad side and watch out. But, she has the good of the pack at heart. She just wants it done her way.
Relations: Mate of Arigato Quen
Thoughts: Grrr! Don't mess with Ekimo! WE GONNA OWN YUO!!!
Other: liek, OMG! =-o

~*~Darkfrost~F~Alpha of Ekimo~*~
I slowly opened my eyes from my short nap. I never really did sleep, only went into a half-trance. I was ever alert, ever ready. Arigato was tense, and that made it even harder to focus on what was going on. I was young, but I knew enough to know that there was something wrong. Something with our prey... the herds had been dwindling lately. There was plenty for now, but come the cold months... it worried me.
I was young. I had always been big for my age though, the largest of my litter. I hadn't had my own pups... and if the remaining prey disappeared, I didn't feel that I would this coming spring. Something, something that all leaders inherited, something told me that it would be a test of my worthiness of my elevated position. If I could lead the pack through the winter... then perhaps I was worthy.
And then there was the worry of the Halakei pack. If food did become scarce, then we would probably have to confront them. They were without an Alpha female... which automatically counted them one down. But when mating came around... what would we do? The Law of nature commands one thing, but the Law of survival points elsewhere. Just another thing to put on top of everything else... I sighed and rested my head on my paws. So many decisions, and one wrong choice could destroy the pack. So much rested on me and Arigato... much more on him, for I knew little of such things.
Arigato... he was a strong leader. I was proud to be his mate. He knew the importance of keeping everything balanced. He knew so much... much more than I did. One day, I might know those things. But now... I was little more than a figurehead.
Jerro Ferstorm, a newer member of the pack, one of the Omegas, returned from a watch of the land. I raised my head as he approached. He licked me under the chin, a sign of his recognising my authority. I gently took his muzzle in my mouth, my sign back to him that I was superior.
Jerro knew more than he led us to believe. I knew so much, he had the air of a wolf that was very intelligent and knew better than to go 'talking' needlessly. He knew something, but I didn't question him. Not now, this was not the time.
Two of the other Omegas were off, "hunting" probably. The two of them weren't enough to take down a decent meal, but if it made them happy, I didn't see why not. However, if there was going to be a famine or anything of that nature, then we may have to stop such behaviour. Best to save what energy we have for constructive hunting. Take advantage of what we have now to build the pack up for winter. I didn't feel the need to voice this oppinion though, I was sure that Arigato had thought of it already. Though... he may be so worried that he hadn't thought of it. I spose that it's best to be redundant rather than not say anything and suffer later...

Hey, B4, just to let you know, it was Jachai who was talking with Amaki and Phoenix, not Jaeger. BTW, I might not be able to post for a couple days because my electricity has gone poof (I'm on a school computer right now) so just include Jachai and Achaea in stuff, k? I should have it back by Thursday at the latest.

~[ Winterdew

Achaea and I were still hot on the trail of the caribou, the scent getting stronger with each step. My nose stayed pinned to the forest floor, until an unexpected clout of foilage crossed my path. The dirt and leaves irritated my nostrils, and I went into a tirade of wild sneezes. The fellow hunter giggled, amused by my (usual) antics.

"It's not funny! This stuff stings the n-nose.." my complaint was interrupted by another sneeze. I began to paw at the offending foilage.

"Winterdew, why don't you go wash it off by the river? I believe it's a few steps east..." The older wolf chuckled once more.

I quickly turned around and arrived at the river on swift paws. I submerged my muzzle under water for a few good moments and surfaced, giving my head a good shake to rid of excess water.

"Stupid leaves..." I huffed and turned, ready to return to Achaea and continue with the hunt, when I realized where I was... looking around at the trees that belonged to no one, and the unfamiliar territory across the river...

I was in the Void, home of the mysterious lone wolves. A quiver of excitement ran down my spine. Perhaps I would see the infamous Witch Wolf, the one who held the answers to life's questions. I peered across the water, looking for a wolf that I could only search for by the description that I heard over the years... solid and shiny black coat, thin frame... I noticed movement by an old cave ...

Once again, I had forgotten about the caribou hunt, but meeting the Witch Wolf doesn't exactly happen every other day. I ran to Achaea and arrived, panting, my fur still dripping slightly.

"Come on, we gotta hurry, let's go!" I yipped with excitement, tugging on her tail to relive her from her sitting posistion.

She stood, flicking her tail idly. "What's the rush? We're hot on the trail, the caribou will be upon us in no time..."

I shook my head, ready to bound off back towards the Void. "It's not that. Forget the caribou for now, Achaea, I think I saw the Witch Wolf back by the river, the Void..."

I awaited for her response.

Name: Ikana Veran
Gender: Female
Age: Adult
Pack: Halakei
Rank: Second Omega
Appearance: Ikana is a somewhat large, powerful wolf. Her leg muscles are especially well-developed, giving her the edge in hunting over long distances. She has a thick, glossy coat that is light silver other than several darker gray streaks around her face and limbs. Her sharp eyes are deep blue, a rarity among wolves. She has a hardly-visible scar on her right cheek, evidence of a caribou hunt that left her partly blind in her right eye.
Personality: From Ikana’s appearance, one would assume a fierce warrior wolf laid behind her midnight eyes. This is far from the case, at least away from the hunt. Ikana is actually caring and easygoing, and has a large soft spot for pups. She dislikes confrontations, wishing that the wolves would get along, at least within her own pack. When something is upsetting her, she is more likely to be alone for a while than discuss it with others. However, she does try to get her opinions of something across when she believes it is needed.
Relations: Elder sister of Cloud Silverwind. Also likely a descendent of that old shadow-hidden, long forgotten wolf, Yanna.
Thoughts: Ikana is wary of the whole situation, as she often looks to the world around her for answers. She dislikes hearing of the herd’s movements, not to mention the fact that she is well-versed in wolven legends and myths.
Other: She has this …thing for birds. She may not be able to truly understand them, but seems to take them more seriously than many other wolves.

((Changed a couple things... made Ikana a bit more Winter-esque))

I watched the ravens grackling in the trees, arguing amongst themselves and hopping uneasily from limb to limb. They had been acting oddly over the past couple of moons... but, then, many things had changed so much recently. We hadn’t seen a caribou in days, and very few of the normally abundant deer seem to be left in the forest. I sighed and turned my attention to the small group of younger wolves congregated on the riverbank. Nowadays, the Halakei pack consisted mostly of young, strong wolves rather than elders, as it had been when I joined. Now, I was one of the few full adults, which can be a good or bad thing, depending. With age came experience and my life as a past loner had provided me with plenty of that. However, I sometimes felt separated from the others in the pack, as though something far-off and forgotten was calling me from the unknown of legends and lore. I far from wanted to leave the Halakei, but this haunting feeling seemed to be growing as the days grew colder. The other wolves drifted back into focus as Amaki, the young Omega with a snow-white pelt and two-toned eyes shook out her fur and loped off to the pups. There were four this year, and had pretty much been adopted by the entire pack. I shook my head with a slight shudder. The young pups were so full of life and love… I would hate for these strange signs to spell ill for the pack, and them especially…
Again I looked to the large, glossy birds above me. Those on the far right were blurry to my vision, and as they continued in that direction were lost in blackness. “Accursed caribou…” Three winters ago, I had come face-to-face with a rather angry mother caribou, enraged by the loss of her calf. Our pack had taken the youngster down, but an overlooked detail left me on the receiving end of mommy’s antlers. That had been soon after I joined the Halakei… back when things were normal and relatively peaceful. A flurry of wings announced the departure of the raven flock, perhaps off to a carcass or merely a more inviting perch. “I suppose I should go back, too,” I said to no one but the leaves around me, as though they might approve. With a sigh and a stretch I rose to my paws, and began walking to our main den.

I walked through the forests, looking for game to hunt. Lacking other wolves, I was forced to face rabbits. My nose was in the air, sniffing for one.

There wasn't a single scent. Something caught my eye, ravens. Maybe I could scavenge. I galloped to them with teeth bared

When I got there, I was too late, the ravens have picked it clean. Almost feeling that I should kill one of the ravens, they were too far. I growled back to the den

-------
Name: Nicolas Skellington (what he wants to be called, not what the wolves call him)
Gender: Male
Age: Young Adult
Pack: Ekimo
Rank: Omega 5
Appearance: He's a rangy skinny half-breed wolf, although his thick, sheepdog-like fur generally covers any unsightly sticking-out bones and such. His coat is reddish-brown, with buff markings on all four legs, neck and the tip of his tail and muzzle. His paws are neat, almost as clean-footed as a cat's. His muzzle is also narrower than a pure wolf's should be. And his eyes are bright green.
Personality: He's calm and peacable. He usually thinks things out at great length before performing any action, and is insufferably polite, even if you've just insulted him. He seems to be always the first to know if someone's missing, or not-quite-right in the head, or upset or something. He also occasionally goes into lengthy diatribes that mean nothing to most wolves, who write him off as 'weird'. He trusts everyone. Likes pumpkins, too.
Relations: He seems to remember a very old half-breed, like himself, that he lived with for a while when he was a pup; who used to ramble on about what seemed like nonsense philosophies to him, and insisted that he was one of the survivors of that harsh winter 20 years ago. (*cough*Gaspode*cough*) If allowed he might even seem to like Achaea. ^^;;
Thoughts: He is very pacifist... but he will fight if needs be. He doesn't like wars.
Other: Most wolves look at him oddly and have a set prejudice against him because he doesn't look quite..... wolfish. Furthermore, if he had to be labelled, he would be labelled 'Of Unknown Origin - Handle With Care'. Very unwolfish.
-----------
Nicolas Skellington/M/Ekimo/Omega 5
----------------

Nicolas was the type of wolf who was nice to everyone and everything because he felt that if people expected you to be nice, you should be nice with enthusiasm. Unfortunately, this meant that he treated most events, if not every event, with extreme optimism. It also made other wolves classify him as a Grade A 'Gone Case'.

It was now autumn and the pumpkins were in season. Not cultivated ones, of course, but wild, varicoloured ones on vines sprawling across little knolls in a spot only Nicolas knew. (He never told anyone about it, not even Achaea, because they wouldn't understand.) He liked to slip off and doze off in the middle of the patch and dream about nothing in particular. Usually, he dreamt about the old wolf-who-wasn't-quite-a-wolf and his disconnected ramblings about a long-ago winter. He remembered not paying much attention.

He was currently on pup duty. He got pup duty a lot. The three pups were still called pups even if they were half-grown klutzes such as the one currently trying to sneak up on him.

"Only up to the second tree from my tail, Rinso," said Nicolas happily, without turning a hair. "I don't think you should practise your [Stalking the Prey and Plotting to Bring It Down With A Suitably Impressive Blow] stance on me; I'm a horribly alert wolf, I'm afraid."

"You're no fun unless you tell stories," grumbled Rinso, whose coat was steel-grey with sable tips to the hairs. "And aren't we supposed to be learning how to hunt?"

"Oh dear. Well, ...."

Three pairs of excited eyes looked up into his.

"....no." He wrinkled his muzzle into a wolf-smile. "Awfully sorry, but your jaws are nowhere near strong enough to lock a caribou down!"

"Awwwwwww..."
