The PokeZoo Battle Tower



Welcome to the Battle Tower, where you can train your Adopted and Captured Pokemon by battling against other trainers.
Thanks to everyone who fought to get it back, and Pokemaster Jay for posting the topic, and LP for giving us this trial.


Rules

You must list your Pokemon's species, levels, attacks, characteristics and items before you can battle. The Pokemon will be listed in a post below.

You cannot add on TMs, moves, or items after the match has been agreed upon.

If you don't choose a bred on move before you make a challenge, your pokemon forefeits it.

Whenever your Pokemon's levels or attacks change, or you get a new Pokemon, post the new stats, and the post will be edited with the changes.

Do not post here asking for someone to battle you. Challenge someone via PMs or Instant Messenger (or any other method that doesn't involve posting here).

You may only start one battle a day.

Once you have agreed on a battle and what Pokemon, one person posts the two trainers and the two Pokemon. Then, one of the Battle Tower's refs will decide to ref.

You then each PM your attack to the ref, who will post the round, and you will PM the ref again, and this continues until the battle is over.

When the battle is over, the winning Pokemon gains one level.

2-on-2 battles are allowed. When you're in one, you must send the ref the attack for both your pokemon, and tell which of your opponent's pokemon each attack is aimed for (you can use both attack on the same pokemon, or one on each).

NO SELF BATTLES.

No Battling Adoption Center against Captured Center pokemon

Any one suspected or caught cheating (ex. losing on purpose) will receive a warning. If the behavior continues, a possible temporary ban from the battle tower may be issued

On the subject of Forfeits: There will be a penalty for forfeits. You will not be able to battle the next day. Unless the person has a reasonable excuse such as "my opponent went on vacation" or both people agreed to forfeit.

The current refs are:

These are the only people that are allowed to ref battles. All reffing will be done in GS mode.

The opponent is dumfounded at Chaos' attempt to materialize mass amounts of rubble to create a sandstorm. No chance whatsoever on this copper alloy arena. Promptly, two vines emit from Chikorita, which swish around the place to strike the Larvitar prosperously. He is pulled back towards the Chikorita for a 'final kill' articulately.

Chaos' lookalikes encircle the area, but they were all quickly dispersed while the vines of Chikorita have already seized the real Chaos. Without consuming aggrandized time, he begins to focus his own energy to aid him later and, more importantly, now. This is also corroborating to be an integral clinker. Energy leaves his body, but so does his own diligence. All he's worried about is that energy swiftly evacuating his body, but he attempts to focus on his energy furthermore. As for shrugging off the leech seeds, they appear to be more durable than osmiums... well, maybe not that sturdy. They appear to be doing the job for Chikorita nonetheless, and that's all that matters. Correct? Chikorita continues to execute her energy removal plan as she abruptly continues to regain her lost health and Chaos continues to speedily lose it. The status-protective shield has finally jaded for Chikorita, as the unobservable wall no longer aids her. As the sun initiates to hide behind the clouds enveloping the sky, the calliope is blown and the round ends.

The second round now begins with Atomos going on offensive. She manages to overcome her confusion and powers up a ball of dark energy, sending it flying at the unsuspecting Ralts! Riley yells in pain as he is pelted by the powerful force and takes a whopping 54 damage! Before even being able to attack, Riley falls to the floor, fainted.

That's going to be VERY difficult for adoptees, especially prize-wise. You'll need 10 divisions at least, with (even at least) 8 people in each division (AVERAGED, meaning you may get 3 or 4 in the last division and 17 in the first), you have at least 80 matches. Good luck finding a ref who'll ref them all at once, unless you'll do one division at a time which will go for a few months. Umm yeah, I don't think so.

Connor may or may not be a worker right now (I need a response from him), and the other workers are away from the board, so I wouldn't count them. But Amy has as much power as I do concerning the Dragon Tamers.

There has been a Battle Tower tournament once, but since there were no categories, it all added up to "the highest level pokemon wins". If we were ever to host a tournament again, we'd have to make better rules so that all the players had the same chances. Which, as Jay pointed out, would result in either having too many battles for anyone to ref, or having one category each month or so, though only the trainers who had pokemon in that category would be ableto participate. If anyone has better ideas, feel free to suggest them to the authorities of the Battle Tower.

As for writing tournaments, I'm actually planning to host the next one soon, either in August or September (sorry, my university life makes it hard for me to work too much on TPM in short periods of time). Other people can host writing tournaments, but they'd need an authorization from both me and Amy for that, and we'd have to sort out the details together.

Oh, as for 'players' hosting tournaments, John a.k.a. Bronze Umbreon hosted the Oracle games, so it has happened before.

I believe Toxic poison actually begins at 1/32 and continues to double from there. The initial hit from Toxic poison is not as much as what regular poison would do.

[EDIT]: Also, if you wanted to arrange a Battle Tower tournament, you could probably make it with 11 categories... LV5, LV10, LV20, LV30, and so on, going up by increments of 10. Eight pokémon per category, with each trainer limited to putting one pokémon in each category and three pokémon total in the tournament, or something similar, should be enough to do the trick.

I don't think reffing four battles (or slightly more than that) simultaneously is that much trouble. They're only stat reffings which take a maximum of 10 minutes to do, in my opinion. You don't have to make fancy descriptions or anything. Of course, to make it easier for you, you could make the people state in each attack PM who they're battling, what they're battling with, etc.

Anyway, those are my thoughts. *shrug*

Anyway, I believe my Toxic calculations were correct. Though I never realized regular poison did sap 1/8, not 1/16. Though it's probably right I always ruled out Leech Seed with regular poison in terms of HP drainage.

As with the divisions, that'd work better than intervals of 5, though it might be hard for people with low leveled pokémon. Particularly in the 10-19 division and higher. Yet you're still looking at 80 minutes work a day to ref each match with 8 players per division (maybe not that much since you probably won't have a pokémon enter above level 70 for starters), it's still a lot of work. Your problem with the "maximum 3 pokémon per tournament" rule thingie will be sure to cause controversy on higher divisions, where some may want to enter lower levels instead. And what about prizes? That'd be another hard one to come up with for so many divisions.

If people didn't follow that last statement you made then it'll get really confusing for other combatants. Someone is bound to forgot and then the tournament will be delayed on waiting for a player to state whom they're battling.

Well, actually, each pokemon would be battling against only 1 pokemon at a time, so if the refs kept track of who was battling whom, that shouldn't be a problem.
Charlie's Pikachu is well over level 70 (I think she's around level 90, actually) but she wouldn't be able to participate because there are no other pokemon near her level. And Scott, a.k.a. Indraugnir, has left TPM.

Elwing is second to go and the young Dratini powers up a Flamethrower. He blasts it towards the Machop, Gimli, who takes 14 damage from the hit! I hate to double post here, but MarshmallowEgg and I have just agreed to a battle between our adopted Absols.
