well, if you remember the first episode of the anime, it shows ho-oh, even though nobody knew about ho-oh then since it was supposed to be the days of RBY where Ho-oh never existed. IF ho-oh appeared when it was supposed to be only 1-151, you can assume larvitar, pupitar, and tyranitar existed then as well. So perhaps you can say that this was a prototype of the gsc pokedex (although its really the yellow version pokedex with caterpie/metapod/butterfree's names changed. (If only i knew how to change the numbers, I'd probably be able to list tyranitar as 248 rather than 12)
