Well, say I decide to hand you $50000 for whatever reason, with the sole requirement that you must spend it on arcade gaming machines. For the purpose of this exercise, I would like to know which would be your top 3 arcade machines that you would purchase. I've thought about this quite a bit, and made a difficult decision for my top 3.

1. Arkanoid (made by Taito in 1986)

http://roms.mame.dk/png/arkanoid.png

This is quite possibly my favourite arcade game of all time, and rightfully so, I could play it for hours and hours, I've made my own replications of the game, it truly is an excellent game due to its addictive simplicity. I passed up the chance to buy a working unit of them a while ago, due to chronic poorness, however I would still acquire one if I was to somehow come across free money. While there are newer versions of the game, I refuse to accept anything but pure, classic, Arkanoid.

2. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Turtles in Time (made by Konami in 1991)

http://roms.mame.dk/png/tmnt2.png

By far one of the most top quality TMNT games ever made - and not just this, also an excellent arcade fighter. I owned this for SNES, but have also gotten the chance to play it in an arcade once, and have spent hours with it on SNES.. it pretty much embodies my childhood as TMNT was a large part of it.

3. Rampage: World Tour (made by Midway in 1997)

http://roms.mame.dk/png/rmpgwt.png

While not an original concept, destroying stuff is truly an excellent pasttime. I actually prefer this "updated" version to Rampage, but they both have the same positive qualities. This third entry was a difficult decision, as I kinda wanted to add in a nice 2-player fighter like Marvel vs. Capcom, or other games like Marble Madness, but I don't think I will be disappointed by it.

I demand that you people post, and make your posts quality or I'll get freshmex to stalk you.

The first game I would take is Star Wars, it's from Atari and it came out in 1983 I believe. The death star trench run has been re-created in many videogames, but I love the one in this arcade game more than the rest.

The second game I would take is Rampage: World Tour, just like you said, destroying things is fun. Whenever I see this one I always play it, heck, I even bought a copy of the playstation version for a few bucks used last year.

The third game I would take is Pac Man, it's a classic and it never gets old. They can make as many of those 3D Pacman games as they want but they will never be as great as the original

My Top three (in no particular order)

1.) Sega Indy Car Game

This Indy Car 500 game by sega i played in Vegas. Holy S you can race with like 8 people in replicas of Indy stock cars. The rumble is perfect, and even the wheel has realistic turning. Its sort of simmish, but hella arcadish at the same time. The downside? $2 a race, and most noobs dont even get past the second lap.

2.) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time

I've spent many hours on Manhatten Project (best home game) on my nes and think it would be a better arcade game than this, but this is still an excellent game. I have beaten it multiple times at the arcade and it never really gets old. Mike for life.

3.) Mrs.Pacman/Galaga

Hey, their both in the same machine so it counts eh. Mrs. Pacman, like the uberly fatass kool aid man said, never gets old. Also, i am just really really good at Galaga, so it deserves to be up here too.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Turtles in Time
I remember that me and my older brothers always use to play this game whenever we got a chance to goto Chuckie Cheese when we were little. We all sucked though so we only beat it a handful of times.

Star Wars Trilogy
A game my friend recently got me to try at the movie theater. The game is short, but my friend and I both enjoy having a crowd for around us as we own the game.

Tekken Tag Tournament
A game I a spent countless numbers of quarters on. Sadly they no longer have it at the movies near my house :(

Aw, damn... Only three? OK, here goes.

1) The Simpsons arcade game
Wow. This is like, IMO, the greatest arcade game on the face of the planet. The vivid graphical detail... the immensly deep storyline... It would make any lesser man break down into a curled-up ball of sheer awe and fear.

2) DDRMAX Extreme
This game is also awesomely excellent. What other video game can give you entertainment, keep you fit, AND teach you how to dance like a maniac?

3) Time Crisis 2
Erm, nothing is too special about this game, except for the fact that... it's cool?

And the runners-up are...
Some driving game - Erm, I forget what it's called, but it's a really good driving game. I liked it a lot. I swear, I spent like $10 on it.
Any Silent Scope game - This game is awesome in that you can take people's heads off, from a completely safe distance.

1 1942

I really enjoy 2D shooters and 1942 is probably my favorite. I could never figure out why I love this game so much. It is the best arcade game out there, if not one of the best games of all time.

2.Galaga

You just can't go wrong with Galaga. You just get pulled in and you can't stop playing, and when you die you just pop in another quarter and get sucked right back in. One of the best arcade games around.

3. Marvel vs Capcom

http://gamegod.com/SIZZLIN%20SPECIALS/Photos/Marvel-vs-Capcom.jpg

Me and my friend play this game all the time. We have driven 30 minutes just to get to an arcade with a working Marvel vs Capcom machine. The game is just so damn good!

well, i needed something other than a fighting game and this is it...addictive game which i would probably spend the most time playing out of the three.

If I had to limit it to 3 I would probably choose Marvel vs Capcom, Time Crisis 2/Crisis Zone and, surprise surprise, TMNT: Turtles in Time. Everyone's already familiar with these games I'm sure so I won't bother explaining what makes them all such great games.

Three of them? Darn. I can only think of two:

Virtual On: Oratorio Tangram -- The home versions cannot possibly mimic the arcade experience.

Guilty Gear XX -- Awesome fighting game.

The simpons arcade game is the best with 4 people, along with the Ninja Turtles one. Let's also not forget the greatest arcade game out right now, DDR! (dance dance revolution for those who don't know)

1.) DDREx... or 5th... 5th was a good mix too...
2.) Para Para Paradise (w/Para Para Show) - Whatever mix has the most songs and has Delux
3.) Dance Freaks 2nd Mix

Yeah, that's about right.

Ultarius - It's not DDRMax Extreme, it's DDRExtreme (Ex for short) or DDR 8th Mix.
