AG/Hoso Episode summary request thread (We're back!)

Hi everyone, it's Zak here!

I bet the topic title surprised you...
For all of you who joined recently, I'll give you all a brief history of stuff: About over a year ago, when the first Red Gyarados ep aired in Japan, I started doing translated detailed synopses, and eventually got known for that, and started doing it almost every week, and evetnuall, along with other stuff, it helped me get modded. Some of you probably remember it. Around September 2002, it started to slowly decline due to issues... then in about January, things started getting really crazy, sites arguing, people getting pissed about stuff, and worst of all, I wasn't doing too well in school, so I just felt I had to stop altogether. And since then, I've still been my same self here, answering people's questions, helping out, and updating with all the basic background info and spoilers for each episode.

However, now that school is over for me here, bar the request of some people, not to mention the fact that this site war issue has settled down, and also since it was just my one year anniversary of being a mod, I've decided to start summarizing them in detail again, and this time manually, rather than translating! :D

However, there's a problem.... a LOT of the AG and Hoso episodes have been missed since the last time I did one.... and I'm NOT gonna waste my time doing EVERY episode, even the ones that aren't very interesting and appealing to most of you (Even though there are practically almost NO fillers). And... especially not in order, because who knows how long it'll take me, I may drift off while doing a boring one which may not be interesting to any of you...

So here is what I'll do.

Simple as that: I'll let you request certain episodes!

However, you may only request three at a time. Well, one at a time, actually, but only three members may post their request, each for a different episode they want to hear. I decided that it will be easiest and less pressuring and overworking if I only get requests between every THREE summaries I write. So, here's how it will go:

-I let three members each post their own request, each for a different episode (you'd have to hurry before three members post, otherwise you'd have to be next in line... unless your lucky and someone requests the one you want).
-I temporarily lock this untill I finish with all three
-I write them, and then post them here!
-I unlock this, and then let people post three more requests(you're allowed to request more than one, just in case your wondering :D as long as its on a different three).

So... hurry, get your requests in! Three at a time, one from each member... you know the drill :D

'Will The Real Oak Please Stand Up' is and old Johto Master Quest episode about Jessie and James impostoring Oak and Mary, B&C aren't in it at all.

'Epic Battle at Oak's lab' is a Hoso ep featuring Ash's stored Pokemon teaming up to fight against Butch and Cassidy.

and another Hoso, forgot the title, is about Oak being kidnapped by Butch and Cassidy and featuring some old characters.

I take it you meant one of the last two... which one?

Just finished this one. I guess I'll open the topic for comments on it.

AG23: Roughneck of the Sea! Corphish Enters!

This episode starts off with Jessie, James, and Meowth relaxing on Dewford Beach. Well, actually just Jessie. James and Meowth insist on working to capture Pikachu, but Jessie refuses and insists to relax on the beach. Meanwhile, from under the water, some mysterious figure is watching them… and as they argue, it moves closer… and as they argue more, they hear rumbling… and eventually, the lump sneaks underground and knocks them all off course, blasting them off. Then, the mysterious unseen digging lump goes back to the water…
After a recent loss and tough match in Brawly’s Gym, Ash has been doing some training, so now Ash and co have decided to take a break and just camp, and hang around the beach, and let all Pokemon out. Ash and Pikachu are still doing some exercise, and take water from Lotad’s dish to cool them off. Brock is cooking dinner using Torchic’s Ember. Masato is washing and drying the clothes by putting them in the water and using Forretress’s Rapid Spin to dry them, and May is hanging them up. Ash is still sitting back-to-sea with Pikachu, Treecko, and Taillow trying to plan a strategy to beat Brawly. Suddenly, a huge wave starts to approach them from behind, and only Taillow manages to sense it. Ash suddenly realizes it and runs away with them, yet they all get wet anyways. He takes the advice to listen to Taillow next time...
Ash changed and hung his clothes up to dry, and again, he sits with his back too the sea, relaxing with his three Pokemon. Suddenly, another huge wave comes… this time they manage to get away, except Treecko who gets completely soaked. Ash apologizes and decides to go back to them.
May starts to discuss Pokemon Contests, and how she plans to master them, and goes on doing a pose. They look at her weirdly, so then she sends out Torchic and Wurmple, but Wurmple just lies there, and Torchic starts running around (like Psyduck). Eventually she gets them to calm down, and does a little dance between them. Brock tells her that the first attendable contest is in Slateport City, but Ash decides he wants to beat Brawly before doing anything, so they agree. But suddenly…
…The tent starts shaking! At first it seems like something is in there, but then the hooks pull loose, the tent falls, and slides across, dragging the clothesline with it and pulling it down at well. Then, the wrecked tent crashes into a tree, and a line of earth starts getting dug from there, heading towards the water. Ash decides to have Pikachu shock this mysterious underground menace, but Brock stops him, since it’s dangerous near the beach. May decides to have Wurmple String Shot the figure. It manages to stop it from moving for a second… but it starts to get back into motion slowly, dragging the strings AND Wurmple along with it towards the sea! Quickly, Treecko tries to make a save, and jumps, and manages to land on Wurmple and grab it, stopping the thing. However, it still seems to be pulling them both, so Ash and co decide to grab the string… but then they all get pulled along with it! Carrying them, the underground figure stars to head towards the water, zigzagging and going in circles on the way, trying to throw the mob off. Eventually it succeeds, and they all get hurled into the water, making a big splash wetting the clothes again.
Everything is totally wrecked. Everyone is covered with sand, Brock’s rice balls are all wet and dirty, and the tent is wrecked, as well as part of the clothesline. They start to think about what this culprit could possibly be. Ash thinks it could be a Diglett or two. Brock thinks it’s probably an angry Krabby. Masato suspects that it’s possibly an Aron. Whatever it is, they decide to try and work as a team to stop it.
J&J are sitting on a rock, pondering about the earlier incident. They decide to just ignore it and go back to capturing, but suddenly, in the distance, they see the lump digging from the water once again! Luckily it just crashes into the rock, and then heads back to the water. Jessie, however, wondering what the thing is, decides to try and confront it and maybe find out what it is. She starts running towards it… and trips on a rock, and lands right on top of that Loudred from before, which happens to be sleeping. Jessie, shivering, watches as it slowly wakes up… and angrily starts yelling and using Roar, sending the three of them blasting off.
Ash and co have decided to come up with another plan to reveal and stop the culprit. Later that night, while they repaired the tent, they put a plate of food in the empty area the menace usually zooms around. Ash and co figure he might come again that night to wreck the tent, so they hide behind a bush and wait for it to come, and maybe get out and eat the food, so they can see what it is… Eventually they get in an argument, but Pikachu hears it coming, and quickly lifts up its ears in detection. Everyone quiets down, as they watch it sneak underground… getting closer to the food. But suddenly, on the way, it detects Ash and co, and quickly turn and knocks them all into the air. Then it starts going on its usual rampage, zooming around. It knocks the food and the plate out of the way, and everyone splits up and moves out of the way when it starts to hit them again… but it keeps chasing May, as she runs away. Pikachu decides to shock it… and for a second, all they manage to see is a red spiky top of the head, as it quickly goes back underground. They decide to come up with another plan…
The next day, they sit and relax by a tent, trying to come up with a plan, and think about what it could be. Ash thinks it may be a Sandslash, because of the spikes. If only Professor Oak was around… he would know for sure. Masato then jumps at the name of Professor Oak, and starts to go on about his show, and even takes out a book of his poetry, and how he’s a huge fan. Back on the case… now they decide to have Forretress make a huge deep hole, five feet wide. Proudly, they have it make a bunch more big holes like that, and then cover them up with leaves, the usual pitfall trap style. Later that night, they watch and wait for the thing to come again. Brock also puts a bowl of Pokemon food just to be safe. It should fall into one of the holes, and come clean… if it ever comes.
After a while of waiting, they get bored waiting, since it still hasn’t come. But wait! There’s something it the distance coming from the water that looks like it… make that four! But then they realize these things aren’t in the ground, they’re just covered with seaweed. They creep up slowly… they stop and notice the food. Ash gets excited as they start to eat the food, thinking their plan was successful. They finish from the plate, so Brock puts another bowl on a rock surrounded by the holes. The seaweed figures creep up to it… and fall in! Ash and co run over there to investigate, but then, they start to talk! Then, they revel themselves as nothing but J&J, Meowth, and Wobbuffet. They yell up for help, but before anyone does anything, the REAL earth lump hidden menace comes to the bottom of the pit, blasting TR off!
Suddenly, it starts to climb up the pit, and head towards the food. Thinking fast, Ash has Pikachu Quick Attack it from the front. Suddenly, everything stops, and as the sand clears, the menace gets hurled up in the air, FINALLY revealing itself… to be a Corphish! Tired, it lands on it’s back, having given up hiding. Slowly, it gets up… it looks mad. Ash then realizes from the Pokedex that Corphish have amazing speed, and that’s why no one could keep up with it, but Pikachu managed. Corphish and Pikachu stare at each other, in anger. They look like they want to battle, so Ash goes with it, especially since there’s a type advantage.
Ash starts out having Pikachu use Thunderbolt, but Corphish jumps out of the way and uses Bubblebeam, knocking Pikachu back. Corphish then Digs underground, knocking Pikachu up. Pikachu then tries to land on Corphish with Iron Tail, but Corphish catches Pikachu’s tail in its claw, and hurls it at Ash. Ash gives Pikachu a rest, and sends out Treecko. As the sun comes up, Corphish starts with a Bubblebeam, but Treecko jumps and uses its tail to Absorb it. Corphish then gets it’s claws pumped up, and starts zooming in for a Crabhammer. However, Treecko manages to avoid it by colliding with a Quick Attack. Corphish then falls over, fainting. Ash throws a Pokeball, captures it, and does the victory pose.
Ash thanks Treecko, and then sends out Corphish to welcome him to the team. He starts to shake its hand… er, claw, but apparently Corphish misunderstands the term “shake hands”, so it slowly grabs Ash’s hand an its claw, and starts with a normal handshake… but then he starts to actually shake it hard, flinging Ash off to the side. Everyone laughs, Ash returns Corphish, and starts heading back to Dewford Gym!

I thought I said "No more requests till I'm finished with all three." Only if you manage to get it in by the time I'm finished, or if you don't, but someone else requests that, I will do it. But until I finish with these three, no one is to request... yet.

This is the hoso episode number 5, and you see Tracey, Misty and Sakura... Sakura Win the battle... I can’t name the pokemon she use but it’s a new form of evolved Evee... Misty use her corsola...

In that episode Misty, Tracey and Sakura need to go to next town to see an artisan to produce more cascads badges... And Misty want to learn Psyduck how to swiming...

C. This topic is for summary requests, not for discussing the Misty special... while I didn't even post it. Save the discussion of it for when I do it, please, or post your own topic about it. So while requests can't be done now, please stay on the subject of the one I posted for now.

AG30: Meditite and the Battle Girl! In a Storm!

Ash and co. are STILL on Dewford Beach, and training for the rematch with Brawly. Along with Pikachu, Treecko, Taillow, and Corphish, he practices running from the big waves that approach without getting wet. They all seem to be doing well, as Masato and May watch, impressed. Suddenly, Brock calls them all for dinner. They start to sit down and eat, but suddenly, from one of the waves, a chick comes surfing (I swear, she’s awesome looking). They greet her, and she does a cool pose, and introduces herself as Shinobu the Battle Girl. She apparently seems glad to see Ash, and even more surprisingly, she knows him by his first name. She then explains that she’s Brawly’s best student, and she heard all about Ash and his previous match from Brawly. Shinobu, wanting to see Ash’s real battle skills, challenges Ash to a battle. Ash starts by sending Pikachu to battle, but suddenly, Shinobu realizes she’s hungry, as does Ash. So, they take a break and start eating the lunch Brock prepared.
Meanwhile, J&J are deep underwater, in their Magikarp sub. Meowth is busy spying through the periscope, when suddenly he picks up an aroma coming from the back. J&J happen to be eating a delicious soup, but Meowth gets mad that they aren’t doing any work. They argue, and eventually convince Meowth to eat with them, and get back on duty later.
Ash and Shinobu finish eating, and they’re ready to battle. Ash says he’s ready, but Shinobu warns him that she’s pretty good, and she learned a lot of battle skills from Brawly. Then she goes on by doing her usual sexy pose, which catches Brock’s attention as usual… Later, Ash and Shinobu wash their plates in the sea, as May and Masato hang up the clothes, and meanwhile, J&J are digging a field of pits on the beach, and Brock is collecting sticks, as a bunch of Shroomish, Seedot, and Zigzagoon pass by. Suddenly, he sees a storm coming on…
Back at the beach, Ash and Shinobu start their match, as J&J spy from behind a bush. Ash decides to used Pikachu, and Shinobu sends out a Meditite. Meditite starts with a Focus Punch, but Pikachu manages to dodge that. Meditite tries a Hi Jump Kick, but Pikachu moves out of the way of that as well. J&J watch and plan to make their move as Meditite keeps trying to hit Pikachu somehow, but keeps missing. She tries another Hi Jump Kick, as Pikachu tries a Quick Attack… but before they could do anything, from behind, Brawly comes in, surfing!
Shinobu returns Meditite, and everyone greets Brawly, and they ask him what he’s doing there. He warns them about a huge serious storm coming up, and that they should head to the nearest Pokemon center immediately. As they get on their way, the storm picks up and starts, and they notice a bunch of Pokemon cuddling together, like some Seedot together, and a few Shroomish… they offer to help, and they happily come along.
Meanwhile, J&J are trapped on top of the sub in the sea in the middle of the storm, planning their next move and escape. Suddenly, a huge wave picks up, capsizing them and sending them blasting off.
Ash and co are heading around the mountains with Shinobu, Brawly, the Seedot and Shroomish. Suddenly, May and Shinobu start to get scared because the path gets too narrow and there’s a huge sharp drop-off. They all decide to hold hands tightly, and make their way across slowly (Shinobu blushes when Brawly asks to hold her hand!). All of the sudden, from up above, a huge boulder starts falling, headed right for them! Thinking fast, Brawly takes out Hariyama, and has it use Arm Thrust on the boulders, blasting them to smithereens before they hit. Suddenly, a huge TREE from up above gets loose, and is about to fall on them… but as it falls, Pikachu Thunderbolts it, and blasts it to smithereens as well. Everyone thanks Ash and Brawly, and they keep going. But then, all of the sudden, out of the blue, J&J and their sub fall from the sky, landing right in front of them! However, to their surprise, they seem desperate to get out of the storm, so they ask Ash and co for help… and they actually agree.
Eventually they all get to a cave, where they let all the Shroomish, Wingull, Seedot, and Rattata take shelter, as well as themselves. They all socialize about stuff, and talk about how good each other’s battle skills are. However, Shinobu seems to be sitting in the corner, depressed, not wanting to talk to anyone… most likely because she thinks she wanted to do something cool during the storm too, to impress Brawly… They wonder whats wrong, and then they realize she just feels bad she didn’t get to do anything heroic during the storm. Brawly calls her over, and manages to comfort her. J&J, who have been sitting away from the fire a bit shy, ask if they can come join. They agree, and they come, but Meowth trips and his tail catches on fire…
They stay there for a night, and glad to finally see the sun back up in the morning. They’re about to go back out, but as usual, J&J betray everyone, and try to attack. Jessie sends out Seviper, and James sends out Cacnea, who hugs him as usual whenever sent out… they attack with Poison Tail and Pin Missile, both missing. Pikachu stars to use a Thunderbolt, but Brawly stops him since its dangerous because some parts are still wet with dew. Brawly takes out Hariyama, who Arm Thrusts them all into blastoffland.
After all this, Shinobu is finally ready to challenge Ash to a battle, this time hopefully without any interruptions, while Brawly refs. Ash keeps his mind on getting ready to face Brawly, and Shinobu keeps her mind on… well… impressing Brawly. So… Meditite VS Pikachu. Meditite starts off by charging from a distance with a Focus Punch, and Pikachu starts with a Quick Attack. Apparently, Meditite’s fist runs out of energy before it can reach Pikachu, but it uses Detect, and manages to turn away from Pikachu’s Quick Attack. Then, Meditite sits down and uses Calm Mind, while Pikachu goes for another Quick Attack. However, just as Pikachu gets close, it jumps out of the way. Ash wonders what a Calm Mind is, and Brock explains that it’s a special strategy, where the Pokemon just sits and relaxes, and builds up courage and energy, and then, by the time a Pokemon attacks it while it’s meditating like that, it can easily avoid it, with better attack. Back at the battle, Meditite goes for a Hi Jump Kick once again, and Pikachu tries to Quick Attack, but it runs out of energy for that attack and trips, lying on the ground, not fainted yet though. Ash, however has an idea. He’s gonna try to have Pikachu use the same strategy, just relax for a few seconds, as Meditite’s Hi Jump Kick slowly closes in… and just as it’s about to connect, Pikachu jumps up in the air, and uses Thunderbolt, fainting Meditite!
Brawly congratulates Ash on winning the battle, and surprisingly, so does Shinobu. She even thanks Ash for giving her a challenge to help improve her battle skills. Then, Brawly also congratulates Shinobu on her battle skills, and hoow well she trained her Meditite… and boy, does she blush!
Ash then decides that it’s finally time to challenge Brawly to a rematch. Brawly decides to have it somewhere else this time, since his Gym in Dewford Town isn’t open right now. It happens to be on a small island close to Dewford Island. Ash wonders how they’re gonna get there, and Brawly says they can easily get there during low tide, but it’s high tide right now. Suddenly, it becomes low tide, and the water lowers, revealing an easy stone path to walk to the island. Ash and co start walking there, and Ash seems ready to take on Brawly in a rematch!

Done with the 3rd one!

Hoso 7: Great Detective work! Find Oak!

This episode starts out at Oak’s lab. The doorbell rings, and Tracey runs to get it… and he sees a Pikachu at the door (Sparky, but Tracey never met Richie so he wouldn’t recognize it)! Then, Richie comes along, and introduces himself and Sparky. Tracey lets Richie in, and they sit and have a glass, and Richie says he wants to see Professor Oak about something, but he happens to be away, so him and Tracey just sit down and discuss his studies.
Meanwhile, Oak is at the nearby radio station/office building, and suddenly two shady looking people stop him. They say they wanna see him about something, since he’s the Pokemon expert and all. They take him to a room, and they take out a box, and say that they have a strange egg, and need him to determine what type of Pokemon it is. He agrees to investigate, as they open the box revealing a strange-looking egg. Suddenly, the egg pops open, revealing itself to be fake, as a small mechanical Bulbasaur pops out, and covers Oak in stunning powder!
Meanwhile, back at the lab, Tracey decides to give a call to the radio station and see what’s up with Oak. Mary answers, looking all worried. Tracey asks her what’s wrong, and she explains that Oak has just mysteriously disappeared from the building! Richie and Tracey decide to go investigate and see what’s up, so they have a delivery truck that happens to be passing there on the way give them a lift.
Richie and Tracey easily manage to get past the guards, because they’re used to seeing Tracey… and he says that Richie can be trusted. Mary and Jenny greet them at the lobby, and explain that there’s a small investigation going on, and that they’re really worried about Oak. Tracey and Richie ask to help in the investigation, so Tracey introduces them both to Richie, and explains that he has just as much experience with tough missions as Ash, since he knows him too and all. He also introduces them to Sparky, who happens to be just as trained as Ash’s Pikachu. They agree, and allow them in on the investigation.
Richie starts by asking Mary where she last remembers seeing Oak. She thinks for a bit, and remembers being with him while giving a lecture on Pokemon types… and after everyone applauded, she followed him out to the hall, and last saw him just before she got in the elevator… and then she gets this report of his disappearance.
This seems to strike them all as weird... so they think about where to go from there. Tracey asks, just to make sure, if she remembers what, exactly he was up to before she went into the elevator. She tries to remember… and doesn’t seem to be able to recall, but then it all clicks. She remembers that just before she was about to enter the elevator, she was saying her goodbyes to him… and then these two weird punks wanted to see him about something… and she decided she’d better get going, and she walked into the elevator…
They all seem to wonder who these two odd punks could have been… as they ponder about that, Richie suddenly gets up, he seems to be up to something. They ask him what he’s doing, and he explains that since they were in here in the first place, that had to have gotten past the guards to get in… so they decide to go question the guards.
They start to explain the whole situation to the guards… they seem to be a bit confused, so Richie explains the whole issue of Oak’s disappearance slowly. He asks if he recalls seeing anyone carrying… something big, like a box… because they figure that if they DID kidnap Oak, they probably stuffed him in a big box, and wheeled him out. The guard thinks, and doesn’t seem to recall something like that… so they ask him if they remember anything slightly strange. The guard thinks for a second, and manages to recall some dude in their type of uniform, hat and all, with green hair, bringing a huge Nidoqueen with him. He remembers being shocked as to why he wants to bring a Nidoqueen in there, outside of its Pokeball, and after he asked him, the guy just showed him his ID, without explaining, and he just... let him in. Tracey and Richie thanks them, and they decide to think about where to continue the investigation from there…
Meanwhile, in a huge Pidgeot co. truck driving down the streets of Pallet Town, Butch and Cassidy are behind the wheel, and Professor Oak is all tied up in the back! B&C are proud of their latest scheme, and they discuss what they’re gonna do… and brag about how brilliant a plan it was, as we see a flashback: Butch walks in with the disguise, passing the guards, and then they go to a secret place where Cassidy gets out of her Nidoqueen disquice, and they get into their shady-punk-scientist uniforms, stop Oak in the hall about the “egg”, and trick him into opening it. As it sprays him with the paralyzing gas, B&C jump out of their costumes, and say their motto… then Oak gets so surprised, he falls over (Butch cries when Oak pronounces his name wrong). They stuff him in the Nidoqueen disguise, and wheel him back out… clear of suspicion. They load him into the truck, tied up, and whisk him off, and head toward their destination…
Meanwhile, Tracey and co still question the guards, and ask if he remembers the dude with the Nidoqueen ever leaving. He thinks for a moment, and then remembers something odd. When the young man left, he was wheeling the Nidoqueen back out… but this time, he had a young lady with him, who was also helping him bring the Nidoqueen back to a truck…
They all find this rather suspicious, and ask what kind of truck it was, and what it looked like. He says it wouldn’t be that hard to miss, it’s a big Pidgeot co. truck. Richie, Tracey, Jenny, and Mary get in Jenny’s police car, and decide to search around the city for it.
Meanwhile, while B&C are driving, Butch asks to remind him what the point of this was, and Cassidy talks about how it was for the secret Pokemon Power mission for Professor Namba, which is to get the secret to get Pokemon on your side, and he wants to get it out of Oak. Since they failed the last mission of getting Lugia’s power, B&C decided to have a go this time… so they continue to make their way.
Jenny and co have given up looking, so they stop the car and try to think of another strategy. Then, Richie has an idea, as he takes out Rose, his Taillow, and tells it to go search for a truck with a Pidgeot on it. Tracey is surprised, since he knows Ash has a Taillow as well, but Richie says everyone needs a lookout Pokemon. Rose seems to have a problem, not ever having seen a Pidgeot before, so Tracey draws a good picture of a Pidgeot… and Rose sets off on the hunt for the Pidgeot truck!
B&C stop at a huge warehouse, and get out, and take Oak with them, and there they using a big screen to call Dr. Namba. They remove the tape from Oak’s mouth, and introduce him to him. Nanba then explains how happy he is to see Oak, and talks about his plans for the secret PP organization and mission, and how he just needs Oak to tell him a small secret. Oak obviously decides to keep it to himself, and refuses in a “yeah, like I’d really tell you that” way. Suddenly, he notices Butch and Cassidy put on earplugs, and take out a big pane of glass, and a huge nail. They threaten to force Oak to hear the awful sound… and they do it once, and he screams. Then, they keep rubbing it across, and eventually Oak gets used to it and knocked out, and bored of hearing it. He still refuses to tell Namba anything, of course. They threaten to rub it harder than ever now, but Oak yells and screams and kicks in the seat, worried, and hoping to drown the awful sound out. Suddenly, Rose flies by the house, noticing the Pidgeot truck, and goes back to report to Richie and co. Rose flies in circles in the distance, and they figure this means that this is where they are, so they all get back in the car, and head over there.
Namba is still waiting for an answer, and B&C are still threatening Oak with the nail and glass. Suddenly, Rose flies in quickly, straight at the glass in Butch’s hands, breaking it to pieces. Richie, Tracey, Jenny, and Mary then enter, surprised to see Butch, Cassidy, and a struggling and squirming Professor Oak. Quickly, they shut off the screen with Namba. Then, Butch gets mad at Richie for pronouncing his name wrong AGAIN. They start to drag Oak’s chair around pretty fast, giving him a pretty rough ride. Cassidy then sends out Sableye, and Richie opposes with Sparky. Sableye uses Knock Off (I think, it took me forever trying to figure out what that attack was, I’m pretty sure I’m wrong… it pretty much uses its hand to hit Sparky hard, knocking it down). B&C keep dragging a very tired and disgruntled Oak back to the truck, as Butch takes out a Mightyena. Rose tries to Whirlwind it, but it just won’t move, and Sableye hits Rose with a Focus Punch. Tracey then takes out Scyther, but Mightyena Bites it hard in the neck. Scyther Slashes Mightyena, knocking it off guard, but Mightyena Tackles Scyther back. Mightyena then uses Iron Tail, fainting Scyther completely. Richie’s ready to send Sparky back into battle, but Sableye starts Fury Swiping both Rose and Sparky! Richie returns them both, and sends out Zippo (still a Charmeleon)! Zippo uses Flamethrower, but Mightyena easily dodges it, and instead… a tiny bit of fire goes into Oak’s hair, and he starts to run around with the chair attached to his behind, screaming, and eventually crashes into the truck and falls over. Mightyena tries to Bite Zippo, and Sableye tries to attack Sparky as well. But Sparky is too fast, and just Thunderbolts Sableye, making it fall right onto Mightyena, knocking it off guard. Zippo then Flamethrower’s them, knocking them into B&C, knocking them back into the house, and causing an explosion blasting them off.
Oak, having a headache by now, thanks them, and he goes back to the station and finally gives his lecture, and tells about his adventure. Then he takes Richie, Tracey, and Mary out to dinner, and they socialize, and discuss Oak’s studies. Oak tells them that he’s studying the mysterious “Pokerus” which is a virus that some Pokemon rarely get, and there are many secrets about it yet to be unlocked. They wish him best of luck!

In the japanese version Misty said that after a Butterfree mates they die. In like i think it is true after a butterfly mates they die.

Hoso is a bunch of eppisodes that tell about wehats going on with other characters and is on tuesdays in Japan. If you want to read about them look for a thread about hoso.

Ok Zak has asked me to help you guys catch up on the anime. So I will be posting 1 or 2 guides a day till we are all caught up. Remember, these guides are only to be seen here, do not take them and put them on your site. They stay in this thread, and this thread only (except for serebii's site of course).

With that said, I believe I'll start with the Rustboro Gym episode.

Rustboro GyM! Nosepass's Secret Weapon!

The episode begins with Ash ordering Pikachu to use iron tail on a nearby rock. Pikachu does so and smashes it in half. Ash cheers and Pikachu seems happy it got the attack off. The others sit at a nearby table. May comments that all that training is really helping Pikachu master the attack. Both Masato and Brock say that if it keeps at it, Pikachu will be able to use iron tail no sweat. Ash tells Pikachu to use iron tail again as the narrator explains that Ash is trying to have Pikachu learn iron tail for his upcoming gym battle against Roxanne. Pikachu goes in for iron tail, but it fails and plops its bottom on the rock. Ash sighs.
Ash joins the others at the table and Brock tries to tell Ash that Pikachu will get the hang of it sooner or later, and that Ash should just concentrate on his upcoming gym battle. Ash agrees and Masato asks May when she plans on training. May chows on a pastry as she informs them that she won't be battling Roxanne. Ash, Brock, and Masato are all in shock. They try to explain to her that as a trainer, she is supposed to battle in the gyms. May just says that she is more interested in raising her Pokemon to be great at Pokemon Contests.
Masato won't have this, and he tries to persuade her some more. She then informs him that it would make her a lot happier to see Torchic winning ribbons in contests than battles in gyms. The others begin to understand and say that she has a great goal. May thanks them, but Masato is still mad. May laughs and says he can cheer for her in contests.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket sits in a playground. James is looking through the guidebook and notices that the teacher from the last episode is actually Roxanne, the Rustboro gym leader. Jessie and Meowth get excited and want to capture her Pokemon and give them to the boss. They begin to plan, but James interrupts. He reminds them that they are out of money and need to get back to work. Jessie and Meowth are disappointed, but they know they won't have a chance against the gym leader without funds. In the end, they all get into their construction worker uniforms again and go to work.
Ash and co arrive at the gym and walk inside to see Roxanne's attendants sweeping a rock field. Ash approaches and informs one of them that he is here for a match. The man recognizes him and calls for Roxanne who is above in the stands. She welcomes Ash and co to the gym, and asks if Ash or May will go first. May gets a little embarrassed. Roxanne and May sit in the stands and May explains about her new goal. Roxanne accepts this and congratulates her. She then asks Ash still wishes to battle her, and he says he does.
The ref informs Roxanne that the reporters are ready, and Roxanne informs Ash that she is letting some reporters film the match for the Pokemon News. She asks if Ash is ok with it, and he says it's fine. He then adds in that he's going to try extra hard now.
The two take their spots on the sides of the field. Masato, Brock, and May sit in the stands. Masato waits in anticipation for the match and tells May he can't wait. Brock says gym matches are a lot of fun to watch. The ref tells the normal rules- 2 on 2 battle with no time limit. Roxanne decides to go with Geodude first. May looks it up in the Pokedex and Masato comments that it looks like a tough battler. Ash knows that rock types are weak against grass, so he decides to go with Treecko. Treecko lands on the field and puts a twig in its mouth. Masato knows Ash picked the right Pokemon and Brock reminds him that they also have to take level into thought. May is confused and Masato explains that if a Pokemon is at a much higher level, type advantages don't apply.
The ref signals for the match to begin. Treecko and Geodude lunge at each other, each grabbing each others hands. Roxanne comments that her Geodude's physical attacks are pretty strong, so she won't have to rely on its rock type attacks. Masato yells for Ash to not give in. Roxanne has Geodude use mega punch, which sends Treecko flying. Ash tells Treecko to counter with slam, and it comes crashing down. Roxanne tells Geodude to doge and use rock tomb, but the attack hits and bounces it back.
When the dust settles, Geodude is buried under a pile of rocks. Everyone is confused, and Masato says the slam must have caused Geodude's attack to backfire on itself. Everyone watches in awe and Masato thinks Ash is going to win this, but Geodude smashes out of the rocks looking unharmed. Roxanne smirks and tells Geodude to attack, and it lunges at Treecko again. Treecko tries to dodge, but it is smashed with a mega punch again. Treecko flies through the air and crashes into the ground. Ash asks if it can still battle and it gets up, but then collapses! The ref declares Geodude the winner. Ash picks up Treecko and thanks it for a job well done. He then sends in Pikachu.
The reporters turn from their camera, shocked at Ash's choice. Roxanne reminds Ash that she uses rock types, and electric types have no chance, but Ash won't give in. He tells Pikachu to show her its stuff with a thunder. Pikachu gives a humongous thunder, sending the room into a bright light. When it dies down, nothing is changed, and Masato says Ash must be showing off.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket is digging next to the gym. Meowth is tired of digging and tells James he quits. James gets mad and says this is all part of his plan, and Jessie and Meowth ask what he's planning. James explains that they'll dig right under the gym, come up into the field and snag Pikachu and Geodude before the trainers know what hit them. James starts to gloat as his genius, but Jessie and Meowth just sigh.
In the gym, Masato is thinking. He wonders how Pikachu can do the job is Treecko can't, but Brock says Ash always finds a way. The battle starts with a rock throw from Geodude. Pikachu dodges, but Geodude follows up with a mega punch, knocking Pikachu back. Roxanne then tells Geodude to finish it with rollout. Brock, Masato, and May wonder how this will turn out, and Ash tells Pikachu to run at the rolling Geodude. It does so, and gives Geodude a head on thunder, shocking it! Geodude flies back unable to battle. The group cheer and Roxanne recalls Geodude. She informs Ash that she is impressed with his attack even though he had a type disadvantage, but she says he won't get passed her next Pokemon.
She throws another Pokeball and out comes a Nosepass! Ash looks it up in the dex and Brock notices Pikachu is worn out, causing him and the others to worry. Ash asks Pikachu if it can still fight, and it gives the signal that it can. Ash then tells it to use iron tail, and it rushes in. It leaps up and smacks Nosepass back with its glowing tail. Roxanne smirks, saying she should have known Pikachu would know an attack like that. Ash tells Pikachu to use another iron tail, but this time the attack fails. Pikachu's tail hits Nosepass with no affect, and it just bounces off.
Masato is disappointed and Roxanne laughs at how inexperienced Pikachu is wit the attack. She tells Nosepass to use rock tomb, causing rocks to close around Pikachu. Ash tells Pikachu to use thunderbolt, which smashes the rocks off of it. Pikachu is now really worn out and Roxanne smiles, thinking victory is at hand. Ash is now a very worried.
Team Rocket is now right under the gym. James prods the floor with his shovel, and Meowth asks how he plans to get through. They all sit and ponder while the match above continues. Nosepass uses sandstorm, and appears in front of Pikachu. It body slams it, then tries to stomp it, but Pikachu dodges. Roxanne tells Nosepass to use rock tomb, but Pikachu dodges with agility. It quick attacks Nosepass for some minor damage, and Brock comments that this isn't going well. Pikachu does circles around Nosepass, and Roxanne tells it to use sandstorm again. Ash tells Pikachu to use iron tail, but it can't get the attack right and it fails.
Brock comments that Pikachu is too tired to get the move off, worrying Masato and May. Roxanne apologizes for having to defeat Ash, and she orders Nosepass to finish Pikachu off with hyper beam. Nosepass releases the attack just as Team Rocket break through the surface. Pikachu dodges, and the hyper beam smashes into the tunnel, sending Team Rocket all the way back outside and blasting off.
Roxanne tells Ash to just give up, as Pikachu is exhausted, but Ash refuses. Roxanne then orders another hyper beam, but Pikachu uses thunderbolt, sending the attack right back at Nosepass and electrifying it! Roxanne is shocked and Masato comments that Nosepass is just a rock type, which means it is still somewhat affected by electric attacks. Ash tells Pikachu this is their only chance, and tells it to use iron tail. Pikachu lunges and leaps, and this time, gives Nosepass a huge iron tail. Nosepass falls to the ground unable to battle as Pikachu lands beside it!
The ref declares Ash the winner as Roxanne stands in awe. Ash congratulates Pikachu, who rushes to him. Brock tells Masato and May that he knew Ash would find a way, and Masato looks on starry-eyed. Outside the gym, Roxanne comments on how well Ash battled. She tells him that she thought she knew everything, but Ash taught the teacher a valuable lesson! She then hands Ash the Stone Badge. He gratefully accepts it and holds it up. Our heroes then wave goodbye to Roxanne and continue on towards their next adventure…

Devon Corporation! Shadow of Team Aqua!

Ash and co are now at Rustboro's Pokemon Center. Ash takes out his badge case and admires his newly gotten Stone Badge. Masato looks at it with excitement too. Ash wonders where the next gym is, and Masato checks the Pokenav. A small island appears and Masato informs Ash that the next gym is in Dewford Town on the sea. Ash can't wait to get there to win his 2nd badge.
Ash then turns to see Brock and May looking through some Pokemon Magazines. The magazines are giving tips on Pokemon Contests, so May is reading intently while Brock points out some key ideas. Ash says he wants to hurry to the next gym, but May says that can wait. Masato sighs and takes a sip of his soda, when he suddenly spills it all over the Pokenav! He freaks out and fumbles with it, cleaning it off. He tries a button, but it doesn't work. Ash, May, and Brock turn and ask him what's wrong. Masato nervously hides the broken Pokenav behind him, saying nothing is wrong, and he is going to go for a walk. With that, he rushes off leaving Ash and co confused.
Masato walks down the road as a giant television plays an ad for Devon Corporation. He suddenly notices a group of kids surrounding a man. He rushes up and asks what is going on, and the kids inform him that the man is promoting his newest toy, a wrestler that can open soda cans. He tries to show them, but the toy ends up opening the can and splashing soda all over his face. The group of kids laughs and disperses.
Masato watches them go, then looks down at the Pokenav, still worried about how he'll fix it. The salesman walks up and tells Masato that he may know a way. Masato asks how, and the man introduces himself as Mr. Stone, an employee of the company that makes the Pokenav, Devon Corporation. Masato has never heard of them, and the man then adds in that it happens to be right in Rustboro City.
A black car pulls up and a man jumps out, telling Mr. Stone that he needs to get back to the Devon building right away. Mr. Stone gets worried, and tells Masato he has a dilemma, but to stop in later. He rushes off followed by the man. The man stops halfway and pulls out a cell phone, telling Officer Jenny they are on their way.
Back at the Pokemon Center, Ash shows off his badge to Professor Oak by video phone. The professor congratulates him, and then hangs up. Brock walks up with a bunch of things he purchased and Ash asks where May is. Brock points to a bench, where May lay with a stomach ache. Ash sighs and asks where Masato is, and Brock says he hasn't seen him. May then jumps up and grabs one of Brock's bags. She rushes to the door as good as new, confusing the other two. Se turns around laughing, apparently obsessed with the item in the back. She forgets all about her stomach ache and rushes outside.
Meanwhile, Masato reaches the Devon Building. He looks up to see it towers high into the sky, then nervously walks up the stairs. Team Rocket also sees the building, and in their conquest of Hoenn, they decide to check it out. Inside, Masato approaches the front desk and asks to see Mr. Stone. The lady informs him that Mr. Stone is not available right now, and Masato sadly walks away. He turns around and notices Officer Jenny approach the desk, and he hides behind a pole. He looks down at the Pokenav, exclaiming that he has to get in there to get it fixed.
Jenny turns around to see Mr. Stone and the man behind her. Mr. Stone asks why she called for him, and she explains that there are reports of a mysterious team threatening to get their hands on some Devon goods. While she talks, Mr. Stone sneaks behind the pole and grabs Masato. Masato struggles, but he informs him that he doesn't intend to harm him.
He leads Masato down a hall and takes the Pokenav. Masato is a little angered at this, but Mr. Stone assures him he only means good. Mr. Stone then takes Masato into a room filled with scientists. He informs one of them that this kid's Pokenav is busted, and it needs repairs. The scientist takes it and refers to him as president. Masato is shocked. Mr. Stone laughs and says he does own Devon Corp.
Masato and Mr. Stone continue down the hall as he explains about the many things Devon Corp makes. Mr. Stone then asks Masato how the Pokenav broke, and Masato stops and explains the soda incident nervously. Mr. Stone just laughs. He shows Masato a room where the scientists work below, then asks if he would like to see some of their machines.
Mr. Stone takes Masato through a bunch of rooms, showing him their many inventions. He then shows off a machine with tubes containing a strange liquid. He informs Masato that this machine could very well make extinct Pokemon live again. Masato is shocked, and Mr. Stone adds in that it doesn't quite work yet. He tells Masato that the liquid in the tubes is actually amber that they retrieved that has DNA of ancient Pokemon in it, and they could extract it to make the Pokemon live again Masato stares on starry eyed.
As they continue on, Masato explains to Mr. Stone that his dad is the gym leader of Petalburg City. He then adds in that he is currently traveling with his sister, May, and his friends Ash and Brock. An employee approaches and tells Mr. Stone he has been looking all over for him, and Mr. Stone introduces him to Masato. Mr. Stone then tells the employee that Masato's friends are in the nearby Pokemon Center, and to let them know where their young friend is.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket sits outside the Devon Building wondering how to get past the guards. Jessie says she has an idea and pulls out some white uniforms and sunglasses and says they can pose as scientists. James agrees and they change. Meowth goes to rush the building, but Jessie and James pull him back, saying Pokemon can't be scientists.
Inside, a strange scientist walks up to the amber tubes and takes them! He walks casually by Mr. Stone and Masato, who take notice to him. Masato asks who he is and Mr. Stone says he is a new scientist they employed, but he is rather strange. The two decide to follow him. They walk through a corridor behind him, and Masato asks what they are doing. Mr. Stone tells him to keep it down and explains about his suspicion of the scientist.
In the main lobby, the employee informs Ash and co that Masato is with his boss, and he offers to take them to him. They walk away just as Team Rocket walk by carrying Meowth. They tell Officer Jenny that they are here to do some research on Meowth, but Jenny says she won't believe them without ID cards, which freaks Team Rocket out.
The strange scientist makes it to a door and opens it. Mr. Stone is now very suspicious. The employee leads Ash and co through a hallway while explaining what Devon Corp does. May laughs, saying this place is right up Masato's alley. They walk into the lab to find no Mr. Stone, but a group of scientists crowded around the prehistoric machine. The employee asks what is going on and a scientist informs him that some of the amber is missing!
Masato and Mr. Stone continue to follow the scientist up a flight of outside stairs, when Masato trips. The scientist hears this and rushes up the stairs. Masato apologizes to Mr. Stone, but he seems happy. He informs Masato that this has just confirmed his suspicion and he'll make sure he doesn't get away. He calls up the employee on his cell phone and explains that he has found a thief scientist which must be what Jenny was telling them about. The employee tells him about the stolen amber, and Mr. Stone orders them to get a team to the roof right now. The employee hangs up and tells Ash and co the dilemma, and they decide to get up there and help.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket tries to worm their way out of showing ID cards. Suddenly, the loud speaker sounds informing the building that there has been a robbery of the amber. Team Rocket smirks, knowing if they get their hands on the amber they can become rich, and takes off their scientist disguises. Jenny notices this and chases after them.
The scientist rushes up to the roof to find Ash and co blocking his path. Mr. Stone and Masato appear behind them. Masato informs him that these are his friends, and Mr. Stone seems happy. He demands the scientist return the amber, but he just smirks and throws a Pokeball, releasing a Crawdaunt! Ash looks it up in the dex, and then sends in Pikachu. It uses head butt, smashing into Crawdaunt. It flies back then counters with crab hammer, sending Pikachu flying as well.
Team Rocket rushes to the roof and gains the attention of Mr. Stone. They say their motto, and then notice the scientist. Jenny comes up a few seconds later and sees them all. The scientist smirks and orders Crawdaunt to use bubble beam, which smashes into everyone. He then recalls it and rushes to a nearby box. There he pulls out a small contraption which turns out to be a handle that he grips which has rockets on it.
He takes off the building, but Team Rocket leaps onto him. They struggle with him, and Meowth pulls the amber from his pockets, but the scientist can't steer right and begins to head right towards the building! Meowth freaks out and drops the amber. Masato dives at them as Pikachu uses thunderbolt, sending Team Rocket blasting off and the scientist clumsily spinning away. The whole group looks down at Masato to find that he has caught the amber!
Everyone thanks him when Jenny interrupts. She recognized that scientist as a member of Team Aqua. She explains to them that they are a notorious team that will stop at nothing to get what they want, but she isn't sure what they wanted with the amber. She then informs them that she'll have her whole squad look for him.
That night, the police search the city but find only the scientist's jacket and broken rocket. Ash and co have dinner with Mr. Stone at a local dinner, all discussing Masato's great love of Pokemon and his big save. May then asks Masato is she can see the Pokenav to see where the next island is, which makes Masato nervous. Mr. Stone signals Masato from under the table, and he notices the Pokenav in his hands. Masato smiles and takes it from him so that Ash and co can't see, but Pikachu does. Masato checks it and finds it works fine! He shows it to Ash and co who see their next destination pinpointed on the map. Masato thanks Mr. Stone who says it was nothing. Now with a fixed Pokenav, Ash and co will head on to new adventures in Hoenn…

Bah, hell why not? The first day of this so I'll throw in an extra guide.

Old Man Briney and Peeko the Wingull

Fresh from winning his first Hoenn badge, Ash and co enter a new town on their way to Dewford Town. May looks at the map, saying Dewford is across the ocean, so they should stock up here before they go. Masato is excited and hopes there is a restaurant nearby, and May says there is.
They arrive at the restaurant to find it shut down with the doors boarded up. It looks long past condemned. May doesn't get it, as the map says it should be open. Masato yells at her while she defends herself, saying that is what the map says. She then notices the maps print date and nervously replies that it is out of date. Ash and co scream in agony.
Now at the harbor, Ash collapses in hunger. Brock does too and they begin to complain while May angrily stares at her map. Masato runs up, saying there is no ferry! They all look out over the ocean to see no boat anywhere. Ash gets depressed, as he is very hungry and has no way of getting to Dewford now. May laughs, saying she isn't the only one who made a mistake, which angers Ash. He yells at her then continues to sulk. Masato asks what he plans to do about his match now, and Brock comments that there has to be a boat here somewhere. May offers to find one and walks off.
May walks along the harbor noticing it is in ruins. Windows are busted and boats are half sunk. She looks out to sea and thinks about Ash yelling at her, which ticks her off. She suddenly notices an old man fishing off the dock. She gets excited that there is actually life here. She rushes to him and asks if there is a boat around here. The man says there hasn't been a ferry service for a while, and he is the only one left in the harbor. He gets up and introduces himself as Mr. Briney just as a Wingull flies down. Mr. Briney welcomes it back and calls it by the name of Peeko. May seems to like it and scans it with her Pokedex. She then comments on what a great Pokemon it is, and Mr. Briney laughs, saying it is the greatest one of all.
May bends down and holds out her hand to Peeko, but it gets scared and hides behind Mr. Briney. He laughs, telling her that Peeko is shy around strangers. She motions it again and it nervously hops up to her. She begins to pet it softly. Mr. Briney laughs again, saying that Peeko really seems to like her. May pulls out some Pokemon food and offers it to Peeko, who scarves it down happily. Mr. Briney then asks May what she's doing in a dump like this, and she begins to explain how they are trying to get to Dewford.
From some rocks off the harbor, Team Rocket spies on May. Jessie comments that if May is here then Pikachu can't be too far off. Meowth suggests they follow her to find it and then snatch it. They all agree and cheer.
Mr. Briney tells May that he owns a small boat and could give them a ride to Dewford. May gets very happy and thanks him. Mr. Briney smiles and begins to explain to her how back when the town was flourishing, he was the best sailor around, and he would sail the seas for days on end. May thanks him again and runs off to find Ash and co.
Team Rocket is still sitting on the rocks. James thinks that Peeko must be very strong and the others agree. Jessie says it would be a perfect addition to their team; as Seviper, Cacnea, Wobbuffet, and Wurmple can't cut it. She then takes out Wurmple and begins to cuddle with it. James and Meowth then make plans to catch Peeko while Jessie dances with Wurmple in the background.
Mr. Briney continues to fish when a Team Aqua agent spies on him. May leads Ash and co towards Mr. Briney's boat house. They ask her why she is in such a hurry and she explains that she found the best sailor ever to take them to Dewford. She tells them how nice, strong, and cool he is as they approach his house.
May greets him, but to her surprise he screams at her. He tells her he cannot give them a ride and they should go away. May doesn't understand, but never gets to as he slams the door in their faces. Ash and Masato thank her for getting them the "greatest sailor ever", but she is too stunned to care. She looks down at the jar of Pokemon food she was planning to give him sadly.
Mr. Briney closes the curtains as he watches them go. He then turns and tells the Team Aqua member that he did as told. He then asks him what he wants with him, and the Aqua member says that he needs a boat to take him somewhere, and he will do as ordered or he'll never get Peeko back. Mr. Briney looks down to see Peeko in a small bird cage. He calls for it and begins to approach it, but the Aqua member releases Crawdaunt, revealing that this is actually the same Aqua member from the Devon Corp building.
Ash and co are now back on the harbor mopping. Suddenly, Officer Jenny pulls up. She steps off her motorcycle and explains to Ash and co that the Devon Corp Aqua member escaped and the police have yet to find him, but there have been reports that he is in this area looking for a boat. Ash and co say they'll look out for him, and Jenny drives off. Hearts flutter above Brock's head as he watches her go.
Ash and May are now very confused and Ash asks May if Mr. Briney was that mean to her before. She says he was very nice before, which makes Masato and Brock ponder. They begin to think why the Aqua member would be in an abandoned city. They then realize that only one person here has a boat, and if the Aqua member somehow got to Mr. Briney, there would be no witnesses to stop him!
In Mr. Briney's boat hangar, the Aqua member inspects the boat. He tells Mr. Briney to get in, but he refuses. The aqua member then signals Crawdaunt, and it threatens to crush Peeko in its claw. Mr. Briney begins to listen when he hears Ash banging on his door. The aqua member laughs and signals Crawdaunt to take care of them. Masato points to the hangar and they head toward it.
Crawdaunt leaps from the hangar with Peeko still in its claws. May recognizes it and Ash tells Pikachu that they have to get it back. The Team Aqua member steps out and Ash and co instantly recognize him. Ash tells Pikachu to attack Crawdaunt and both Pokemon leap at each other. Suddenly, bombs fall from the sky, blowing them back. Ash and co look up to see Team Rocket in their balloon. They say their motto and Ash asks why they are here. They explain that they plan on taking Pikachu, Peeko, and maybe even Crawdaunt. The aqua member laughs, calling them pathetic. Meowth turns on a vacuum which begins to pull Pikachu in. Crawdaunt places a claw in the ground to support itself, but the cage handle holding Peeko snaps and it is sucked into the vacuum.
Mr. Briney calls for it and Brock releases Lotad. He tells it to use water gun, and Team Rocket freaks out, but the water gun barely even leaves its mouth. Team Rocket begins to laugh, when it suddenly starts a huge water gun, striking the balloon, and sending Pikachu and Peeko falling. Mr. Briney runs to get his Pokemon, but Crawdaunt grabs it first. The aqua member then tells it to get rid of Team Rocket, and it uses bubble, popping the balloon and sending them blasting off.
The aqua member and Crawdaunt then leap into the boat and take off. Ash and co wonder how they'll catch him now, but Mr. Briney says he knows how. He pulls a latch and the water in the hangar drains, revealing a Wingull shaped boat. Ash and co are shocked. The water level returns to normal and they all get in.
The boat's three engines start up and it speeds after the aqua member's boat. Inside, Mr. Briney explains about the day he met Peeko, and how it just landed on his head while he was fishing and followed him home. He then adds that it was Peeko who inspired this boat, and he has to get it back.
The aqua member gloats at how great of an escape he made when Crawdaunt notices the Peeko boat speeding toward them. Mr. Briney demands Peeko back on a loud speaker, but the aqua member refuses. Mr. Briney notices they are approaching some big rock formations on the monitor, and explains that they need to catch up with the boast before then. Ash and Pikachu get on top of the boat, but before Pikachu can attack, Crawdaunt sends two crab hammers straight for them. Mr. Briney manages to dodge it, but Crawdaunt follows up with bubble. A giant wave strikes the boat, sending Ash and co flying. When they look back at the other boat, only Peeko remains in it. Ash and co look ahead to see the boat is heading straight for a giant rock. Ash has Pikachu shock it, which breaks the top part of the rock off, but not enough to stop Peeko's boat. Mr. Briney steers the Peeko boat to the side and cuts off the other boat just enough to make it fly safely over the top of the rock!
Mr. Briney then dives into the water and retrieves Peeko. Suddenly, a giant Team Aqua sub rises from the ocean. Ash and co watch the aqua member jump into it and it then sinks, leaving everyone in shock. That night at the harbor, May feeds Peeko. Soon, Masato and her stomachs growl, making Mr. Briney laugh. He says Peeko must be eating better then them. May explains about the closed restaurant incident and Mr. Briney tells them that he'll give them a feast! They all thank him. The next day, everyone boards the Peeko boat and they speed off towards Dewford Town and the next badge!

Escape Sharpedo Island!

Ash and co are now sailing on toward Dewford Town in Mr. Briney's Peeko boat. They are all enjoying the beautiful ocean breezes and commenting on the great weather. Ash then asks Mr. Briney when he thinks they'll be in Dewford, and he tells him that they should arrive in a matter of hours. Ash asks Pikachu if it's ready, and it gets a determined look on its face.
May then throws her two Pokeballs to release Torchic and Wurmple. She comments that their Pokemon should get some fresh air too, so Ash releases Taillow and Treecko while Brock releases Forretress and Lotad. Meanwhile, Team Rocket are pedaling after them in their Magikarp sub while chanting. Jessie notices the boat is pulling away and tells them to pedal faster. They all begin to chant faster and pedal faster, but the boat still pulls away. Jessie says to shift into overdrive and they begin to chant and pedal extremely fast. Wobbuffet pops out, making Jessie angry.
Wurmple eats some Pokemon food then falls asleep. Treecko looks out to sea while Forretress rests and Lotad sprays Pikachu and Torchic. Taillow and Peeko fly above. May comments on how great the ocean is and how she would love to relax and take a swim before heading to Dewford. Mr. Briney informs her that there is a small island up ahead that they could stop at for a bit. May and Masato get excited, but Ash says he wants to get to Dewford quick. He turns to Pikachu for support, but all the Pokemon are relaxing.
May laughs, saying Pikachu must agree with them. Ash is now a little annoyed, but Masato starts to compliment him on his great battle in Rustboro. Everyone butters him up and Masato adds in that stopping at the island would also give him time to train, which settles it. Masato laughs to himself, saying it works every time. Mr. Briney then turns to the boat and they head toward the island.
A little while later, Pikachu awakens from its sleep and jumps on Ash's shoulder. Ash points to a small island ahead and says they are going to stop there for a while. The boat speeds on while a dark figure swims after it under the water. The boat pulls into the bay while Masato comments on how perfect this place is. Brock checks the guidebook as Mr. Briney explains that he used to come here all the time.
May opens the door and comes out in a pink and polka-dotted bathing suit. She models it to everyone saying how she just got it before she went on her journey. After some more modeling, she steps on the side of the boat and dives in. She surfaces a few seconds later and tells everyone the water is great. At this, Masato jumps in and they begin to laugh and splash each other. From under the water, the echoes of laughter are heard by a mysterious black figure.
On board, Ash asks the Pokemon if they would like to go for a swim. They all agree, but Torchic doesn't want too. Brock laughs, saying as a fire type, Torchic doesn't like to swim. They suddenly hear May and Masato scream and they rush to the side of the boat to see them surrounded by a pod of Sharpedos! Mr. Briney notices this and tells Peeko to hurry.
It flies over to them and they grab onto its feet. It flaps as hard as it can to lift them from the water. It slowly flies towards the boat as Sharpedo after Sharpedo leaps up to bite them. Ash tells Taillow to help and it begins to tackle the oncoming Sharpedos. One Sharpedo leaps up and skims Masato's leg, leaving it bruised. Mr. Briney tells him to watch out as Sharpedo's skin is very rough. Masato thinks Sharpedo is a cool Pokemon even though they are trying to devour him. Pikachu tries to thunderbolt the pod, but they keep coming. Peeko and Taillow finally bring Masato and May over the boat and drop them onto the deck. They breathe a sigh of relief.
Mr. Briney asks if they are ok, and May says she's shaken up but fine. She then notices a tear in her bathing suit and rushes to the edge of the boat to yell at the Sharpedos. One of them leaps at her and she backs away frightened. Masato holds his leg hoping the pain will stop. Brock says being a shark; Sharpedo's skin is very rough and could leave cuts if touched. Ash scans it with the Pokedex as the pod stares at them.
Mr. Briney tells them that they have to get out of here fast as Sharpedo pods are very dangerous. The pod surrounds the boat and begins to ram it back and forth. Ash and co rock around while the leader of the pod dives and rams it again. Ash tells Pikachu to use thunderbolt, shocking the pod and giving them enough time to maneuver the boat away.
That night, Mr. Briney brings the boat ashore at a different part of the island. They make a bon fire and Brock serves dinner. Mr. Briney comments on how good the food is and Brock offers them all tea. Ash then asks Mr. Briney when they plan to head for Dewford again, and he explains to him that it will be very difficult with the Sharpedo pod around. He points out to sea where 3 Sharpedo fins protrude from the water and move around. He then explains that Sharpedos are known to be relentless, and will not leave sailors alone. Brock cuts in, saying he has heard sailors telling horrible stories about Sharpedos. He then adds in that their leader must be a good problem solver, as it figured out how to ram the boat to try and get at them. May and Masato are now frightened.
Meanwhile, a little offshore, Team Rocket's sub surfaces. Team Rocket emerges complaining of hunger. Jessie notices the island and Meowth says that there may be food there. Suddenly, their sub is knocked from the side by a Sharpedo. It continues to nudge the side while Jessie and Meowth freak out. They turn to James, who is frozen with terror. Just then, Meowth and Jessie notice the reason he is scared; the whole pod is on the other side! James thinks they are screwed, but Jessie decides to release Seviper. She tells it to use poison tail, which strikes a Sharpedo, but it counters with bite. Jessie tells it to use poison tail again, and it manages to strike it.
Team Rocket thinks they've won, but the Sharpedo resurfaces and leads the pod in a giant rampage on the sub. Team Rocket is sent soaring. As the go, Jessie notices the Wingull boat in the bay of the island and they decide to return and steal Pikachu.
That morning, Ash and co come up with a plan to stop the Sharpedo pod. Ash gets in a bucket and has Taillow and Peeko pull him across the water like in the 5th movie opening. Ash surfs across the water taunting the Sharpedos. They all charge and he speeds away. The leader Sharpedo doesn't go as it knows it's being tricked. May, Masato, Brock, and Mr. Briney now pull up a fence from the water trapping the leader in the bay.
It however, speeds toward the fence and rams it, causing May to fall into the water. May surfaces to see Sharpedo heading right toward her! Everyone is too afraid to watch, but Brock thinks fast and releases Lotad. It lands in the water blocking Sharpedo. Masato then has May grab onto a rope and he pulls her in. Ash makes it ashore and asks if she's ok.
Sharpedo heads straight for Lotad now, and Brock tells it to use water gun, but it just sits there. Sharpedo bites down on it and swims around with it in its mouth. Brock tells it to use water gun again, and it fires a huge blast at Sharpedo. Brock tells it to strike again, but Sharpedo just lies there. Lotad swims up to it, but it still sits there. Its eyes close and it flips over fainted! Ash and co are shocked and Brock feels bad.
He brings it ashore and explains that Sharpedo seems to be poisoned! Brock feeds it some Pokemon food and says it'll be fine, but it still doesn't wake up. He tells Ash and co that it needs round the clock care, and he agrees to help it out. Lotad wants to help too.
That night, Ash and co eat by the bon fire while Brock continues to stay by Sharpedo. May comments that he must really care for Pokemon; as he helps even the ones who try and harm him. Ash agrees. Brock and Lotad stay by Sharpedo as Brock tries to soothe it. The sun soon rises and everyone is asleep. Brock sleeps on top of Sharpedo and Lotad sleeps next to it. Sharpedo wakes up to see Lotad and becomes angry. It then looks at Brock sleeping on it and calms down. It places its fin on him and continues to sleep.
Suddenly, the fence around the bay breaks in an eruption from the water. Team Rocket's sub emerges and uses a net to snag Pikachu. One heads for Brock also, but Sharpedo pushes him out of the way and gets caught itself. Team Rocket says their motto and gloat at their capture. Brock tells them to release Sharpedo, as it is poisoned and needs help. Jessie laughs, saying her Seviper poisoned it with its poison tail attack. Brock gets angry and notices Lotad surfacing right by the sub. He tells it to cut the nets with razor leaf. It does so and Sharpedo and Pikachu swim away.
Pikachu makes it ashore and Ash tells it to use thunderbolt. He then stops it and says he'll let their new friends take care of it. Team Rocket is confused and Ash tells them to look behind them. Team Rocket turns to see the whole Sharpedo pod behind them! They ram the sub as before, sending them blasting off!
Brock runs into the water to make sure Sharpedo is ok. It swims up to him and Lotad jumps off of it and into Brock's arms. Suddenly, the whole pod swarms Brock. He freaks out, thinking their rough skin will hurt him, but he suddenly notices that they feel smooth. Mr. Briney laughs, saying Sharpedo skin is only rough to opponents or prey. May and Masato walk up to them and begin to pet their smooth bodies. Ash does the same and Brock asks Sharpedo if they can leave peacefully now. It nods and they take off.
That evening, the Peeko boat makes it to Dewford Town's harbor. Ash and co thank Mr. Briney for all his help. They then turn to the Sharpedo pod, which have followed them to Dewford. The pod turns and swims away, waving their dorsal fins as they go. Ash then makes a fist, now ready to compete for his 2nd Hoenn badge!

Dewford Gym! Enter Brawly the Surfing Gym Leader!

Ash walks out of Dewford Town's Pokemon Center, prepping his gloves and eager to get to the gym. He asks Pikachu if it's ready, and it nods. Both of them then rush off. A very tired Brock and Masato follow out, Masato asking why Ash is up so early. Brock laughs and says it's never too early to Ash for a gym battle. A couple seconds later, an annoyed May walks towards them asking what is going on. Masato asks her why she's holding a pillow, and she looks down and notices that she is. She becomes embarrassed and exclaims that the Pokemon Center pillows are so comfy that she wanted one for herself.
After some running, they all make it to the entrance of the gym. Masato notices a picture of a Machop and Machamp embedded on the entrance arc, and exclaims that this gym leader must train fighting types. Brock recalls that knows of this gym leader, and heard that he trained with the Cianwood Gym leader Chuck. He informs Ash that this will not be an easy match, but Ash still thinks he can handle it.
He walks up to the doors and knocks, but no sooner then he does then a group of surfers burst out, smashing him away. Ash lies on the ground stunned. A man walks out and apologizes to Ash. Brock instantly falls in love with the many girls surrounding the man. He rushes up and begins to flirt as the man leans down to help Ash. He asks Ash what he's doing here and Ash explains that he is looking for the gym leader. The man laughs and introduces himself as Brawly, the Dewford gym leader. Ash becomes excited and asks him for a match, but Brawly says he going surfing with his pupils now, and he could have a match later. He then stands up and walks off with the horde of girls following.
Ash is mad, and says gym leaders are supposed to accept every challenge, and he adds in that he doesn't see what's so special about him. May interrupts, saying how cute he is and she's going to go watch him surf. She rushes off as Brock comments that if he goes to the beach he could meet some girls, so he too rushes off. Ash calls for them, but they are too far away by now. He sighs and Masato says they might as well join them.
At the beach, many people surf and lay out in the sun. A man and woman walk into a nearby refreshment stand and ask for some drinks. The 2 owners just happen to be Jessie and James with Meowth as a cook. They say their motto in a service manner, confusing the two customers. They nervously ask for two sodas, receive them, then high tail it out of there as fast as they can. Jessie and James wave goodbye, but their happiness is shortlived. Meowth runs to them and begins to yell, saying if they want to make money they have to stop scaring the customers. He then notices Ash and co on the beach and points to them. Jessie gets excited, saying it's the perfect chance to get Pikachu, but James thinks they should just stick to selling refreshments. Jessie becomes enraged but is interrupted by Meowth before she can say anything. He explains that they play it cool now, but when the time comes, they'll snatch Pikachu.
On the beach, May says she wants to get into her bathing suit, but Masato tells her not to. She doesn't listen and strips down right on the beach, revealing her bathing suit. She models it off saying how cute she looks, making as hand Masato uneasy. Brock notices all the girls and goes gaga-eyed. May then notices Brawly on the beach with his surf board. He calls out his Makuhita, and they both take to the sea on their surf boards. Ash thinks it's neat and scans it with the Pokedex. He then gets excited to face it.
Brawly and Makuhita reach the waves and Brawly begins to tell it how to surf. It does it well, but when Ahs calls out for a match from the beach, it begins to loose balance. Brawly tells Ash he is to busy at the moment, then explains to Makuhita how to regain its footing. It does so and they continue to surf. Ash gets angry and leaps into the water. Brawly wonders what he is doing, and is frightened when Ash pops out behind him. He demands another match, but the wave breaks, sweeping over them.
Masato sighs from a nearby table. May wonders why Ash is so bent on getting the match right away. Brock notices Brawly is resuscitating Makuhita and they rush to see if it's ok. Brawly says it'll be fine, when Ash pops out of the sand demanding a match. Suddenly, a net comes up and snatches Pikachu! Ash and co look to see Team Rocket. Pikachu tries to use thunderbolt, but the net causes the attack to hurt itself! Meowth laughs, saying whatever Pikachu dishes out the net will dish back.
Brawly demands to know who they are and they begin to say their motto. Meowth interrupts them; saying if they don't leave fast Pikachu could escape. They agree and leap into a motor boat and speed away. Brawly tells Makuhita to go after it and it leaps onto the surf board and paddles as fast as it can towards them. Team Rocket sees this just when Makuhita slams the surf board into the back of the boat, sending Pikachu flying into the water. Ash grabs it. Team Rocket tries to plug the many holes in their boat, but James gets tired and releases it. Water begins to spurt out, but Jessie and Meowth tell him to grab it. Ash then has Pikachu use thunderbolt, blowing up the boat and sending the rockets blasting off.
On shore, Brawly comments that Ash really cares for Pikachu. Ash thanks him and asks if they can have the match now. Brawly agrees and they head to the gym. AT the gym, Ash does some stretches while Masato and Brock try to think of a good strategy to beat Brawly. Brock suggests that Ash uses Taillow, as it is a flying type, and Ash agrees. May comments that Taillow may not be powerful enough to beat Brawly's Pokemon as it doesn't have much experience, but Ash feels confident.
On the arena, the ref tells the basic rules; 2 on 2 battle, no time limit. Ash releases Taillow and Brawly calls on Machop. May looks it up in the Pokedex and warns Ash that it'll be tough. Ash laughs and says Taillow can win if it gives it its all. The battle begins with a wing attack from Taillow. Machop takes the hit and flies across the field, but gets back up. Ash gets over confident and tells Taillow to keep at it. Machop takes wing attack after wing attack, but gets up every time. Brock seems worried, as Machop still looks prepped for battle. He warns Ash that Brawly must behaving Machop use bide. Ash tells Taillow to use wing attack again, but Machop dodges this time and uses karate chop on Taillow, sending it sprawling across the field unable to battle. Masato doesn't get it, as karate chop isn't supposed to be that effective against Taillow. Brock figures out that Brawly has his Pokemon dodge as if they were surfing and he informs Ash of this.
Ash takes that in mind and releases Treecko. He orders it to use slam and it hits, but Machop rolls away and gets back up. Ash orders it to repeat slam after slam, but Machop just keeps rolling out of the way. After a while, it trips, giving Treecko a chance. It uses quick attack, but Machop dodges. It tires again and this time it hits, sending Machop flying to the ground unable to continue.
Brawly recalls it and complements Ash. May thinks Ash is doing well now and Masato agrees, but Brock disagrees. He points out that Treecko looks very tired, and they all notice it. Brock doesn't believe Treecko will have the strength to fight Makuhita. Brawly releases Makuhita and the match begins.
Makuhita does a sumo stamp, and Ash orders Treecko to use slam. Makuhita dodges in the same technique as Machop. Treecko tries again and again, but Makuhita keeps rolling away. It goes in again, but gets tired and stops to rest. Ash tells Treecko to use quick attack, and it stops its rest and rushes in, but Makuhita catches it and uses slam. Brawly tells it to follow up with arm thrust, and it repeatedly hits Treecko. It falls to the ground, and Brawly thinks the match it over, but it slowly gets up. It rushes in, but Makuhita catches it again and uses seismic toss. Treecko lies on the ground with a smiling Makuhita next to it. Ash is ready to give up when Treecko gets up again!
Brawly and Brock and co are shocked. Ash is excited and tells Treecko to attack, but Makuhita begins to glow! Brawly realizes that Makuhita is evolving! It stops its glowing and takes the form of Hariyama! May looks it up in the dex and Brock tells Ash to forfeit, as there is no way he can win now and he shouldn't put Treecko through this. Ash refuses and tells it to use slam, but Hariyama easily catches its tail and uses mega punch, sending Treecko into the wall and taking it out. Brawly tells Ahs he should take Treecko to the Pokemon Center, then he leaves.
At the center, Ash asks Joy how Treecko is doing. She tells him it took a lot of damage, but a few days of rest should make it feel better. Brock and Masato try to cheer Ash up, saying he put up a great match. Ash gets angry and says he didn't. Brock tries to tell him that they'll come back when he has more experience, but Ash gets even angrier and screams that he won't leave till he wins. He then rushes out followed by Pikachu.
On the beach, Ash tells Pikachu how it's all his fault that Treecko is hurt. He continues to mope when he hears Brawly. He looks out over the water to see him and Hariyama surfing. Brawly is explaining to Hariyama how to balance but it can't keep it and falls into the water. Brawly tells it to keep trying and this time it manages to stay afloat. After some surfing, the two come to shore and Brawly congratulates it on a job well done. Ash greets Brawly, who greets him back. He asks how Treecko is doing and Ash says it'll be fine after some rest.
Brawly says that's good, and he tells Ash that he is going to continue to surf. Ash tells him to wait and explains how he felt when he lost and how he doesn't think he'll ever beat him. Brawly laughs as Brock, Masato, and May approach. They watch as Brawly gives Ash a small speech about if he works together with his Pokemon and practices till they get things right, he'll surf the seas and win. Ash thanks him and Brawly and Hariyama rush back into the water. Brock, Masato, and May rush to Ash and ask if he's calmed down now. As looks at them, and makes a fist with his hand, saying he'll train hard and beat Brawly one day, and he won't leave the island till he does. Will Ash ever defeat Brawly? Find out in the upcoming episodes!

Wurmple Vs Wurmple! Which is Which?

The episode begins by explaining how Ash lost his last match and how the group ended up at the Pokemon Center. Inside, Brock, May, and Masato rest in their stay room, but Ash is not visible. May wakes up and stretches, then notices Ash is missing. She calls for Masato, who sits up and places his glasses on. She asks him where Ash is and Masato looks t see an empty bunk. Brock leans down to inspect from the top bunk and says they should go find him.
In the hallway, Pikachu and Ash sit asleep on a bench near Treecko's recovery room. May wakes him up and asks how Treecko is. Ash stands up, saying he has to go check on it, but he is sure it'll be fine. He walks up to the window to find Treecko resting on a stretcher. Nurse Joy walks out and Ash walks up to her. He asks her how Treecko is doing, and she informs him that it is fine, and when it wakes up it'll be as good as new. Ash thanks her and asks if Taillow is fine too.
A few minutes later, Nurse Joy hands Ash his two Pokeballs and exclaims that the Pokemon are all recovered. Ash thanks her again and releases them. He apologizes for pushing them so hard, but he also ads in that he is proud of them. The Pokemon nod in forgiveness and Ash thanks them.
The group then lets all the Pokemon out so they can eat. May notices Wurmple has finished all its food in a very short time and pours some more into its bowl, but it just lies there sleeping. Ash grins, saying her Wurmple has quite an appetite, but it isn't very active. Brock agrees and adds in that it just seems to eat and sleep. May doesn't seem to mind however.
Masato then rushes up and exclaims about how Nurse Joy got a phone call from the Devon Corporation. He explains that an elite trainer that is friends with Mr. Stone is somewhere in Dewford's Granite Cave. Hearing this, Ash instantly wants to go meet this trainer, so they head out. On the road, Brock comments on how the Granite Cave is supposed to be very dark and trainers training in Dewford Gym like to spend some days there training as well.
They come across a bend where an old man sits on a rock. Little do they know that this old man is actually James in disguise. He motions them over and begins to explain that he knows the ideal fishing spot to capture water Pokemon. He begins to go on and on about how some of the rarest and strongest water Pokemon are found here, and he then offers to lend Ash and co some rods to fish for them. Ash is a little hesitant, but May and Masato want to see it. Brock tells Ash that it wouldn't take that long, and they can head to Granite Cave after, so Ash agrees. In the bushes, Jessie and Meowth smirk as they know their plan is going swimmingly.
At the edge of a small hill, our heroes begin to fish. May comments that she isn't getting anything, but Brock tells her to just relax and wait. Ash releases Treecko and tells it to relax also. It sticks a twig in its mouth and lies down. Suddenly, May's hook snags something. She informs everyone that she has got a bite, and they help her pull it in. An Octillery is pulled form the water and latches onto May's head. Ash scans it with the dex, and May decides to capture it. She releases Wurmple just as the Octillery clings to Masato's face. Ash tells May to have Wurmple attack and she orders a string ****, but Octillery leaps away and the string wraps around Masato's head. The Octillery then head butts him and takes off back into the ocean.
Masato looks over the hill and comments to May how she let it get away. May nervously replies that she didn't mean too. They then continue to fish and Ash bags a Corphish! He scans it with the dex as it clamps on to Masato's behind. Masato winces in pain wondering why the Pokemon seem to cling to him. Ash orders Pikachu out and the Corphish diverts its attention to May, but she pulls Masato in front of her. It changes direction and heads for Treecko, who leaps up. Ash tells Pikachu to shock it, but it uses crab hammer on it before Pikachu can get the hit off. The Corphish then leaps back into the water leaving Ash depressed. May and Brock tell him he may get another chance.
Team Rocket are now in their Magikarp sub spying on the twerps. James and Meowth want to know why they are wasting their time, and Jessie tells them to be patient. She begins to explain her plan about having Ash hook the sub and pulling him down. When he lands in the water, his Pokeballs will fall off and they can scoop up them and a drowning Pikachu. Jessie gets excited at this and begins to talk about all the things she can do with the Pokemon. James tells her to calm down and Meowth reminds her that they have work to do. The scene ends with Wobbuffet popping out.
May suddenly snags something again and begins to pull. She realizes that she has hooked a big one and everyone begins to help her pull. Down below, Team Rocket grins knowing they have succeeded in phase 1 of the plan. They begin to pedal hard, trying to pull the twerps down, but after a bit of tug o war, the pedals break and Ash and co pull them up. Masato comments that she caught a giant Magikarp, but Team Rocket appears and says their motto.
Jessie exclaims that this wasn't supposed to happen and Ash's Pokeballs should've been theirs. James asks for them to just hand them over, but Meowth doesn't think that's plausible. They all then leap onto shore and Jessie says they'll just have to steal the old fashioned way. James pulls out a net and snags Pikachu. It tries to shock them, but naturally the net is shock proof. Ash then calls upon Treecko, which quick attacks James and sets Pikachu free.
Meowth extends his claws and demands they hand over the Pokemon, but May grabs her Wurmple and says they can't have them. Jessie begins to laugh, saying she doesn't want her pathetic Wurmple when she has one of her own. She releases it and begins to cuddle it. May says her Wurmple is a lot bigger and stronger then hers, and Jessie says hers is bigger and much cuter. The two begin to argue back and forth, but Masato soon interrupts saying he can settle this.
He measures both Pokemon's lengths and heights and concludes that they are equal in size. Jessie becomes agitated and tells Wurmple to use string shot, which just misses May. May retaliates with a string shot from her Wurmple, which hits Jessie in the face. James pulls out the net and prepares to get the Pokemon again, but Treecko throws its twig smacking the net away. It then tackles Meowth, sending him flying into the Wurmples. Jessie and May rush up and grab them. The Rockets then retreat to their sub, but Pikachu shocks them, sending them blasting off.
May picks up her Wurmple and cheers, but she soon notices something is wrong. She places it down and puts some Pokemon food in front of it, but the Wurmple doesn't eat it. Ash and co ask what's wrong and she informs them that her Wurmple is acting funny. She begins to wonder if this is her Wurmple, and Brock tells her to try and recall it to its ball. May pulls it out and tries to recall it, but it doesn't come back! Masato realizes that Jessie must've taken May's Wurmple by accident when they got mixed up!
In the forest, James sighs at their failure again. Meowth adds in that they can come up with a new plan and try again. Jessie hugs her Wurmple, exclaiming that at least she proved hers is better. James then pulls out some food and offers it to everyone, but the Wurmple eats it out of his hands! It then curls up and goes to sleep. James remarks that that is very odd and Jessie says it must've been hungry. Meowth tells her that it seems different today, and maybe she should feed it better. Jessie begins to do the "its so cute thing" which wake sit up, but it then goes up to James and rubs against him. James is stunned and says it never showed affection towards him either.
Ash and co head through the bushes looking for May's Wurmple. May begins to have flashbacks of the day she caught it. She begins to cry saying it was her first catch and she needs to find it. Taillow then flies up and Ash asks if it spotted anything, but it says it hasn't.
Team Rocket is still in the bushes and Jessie begins to have daydreams of her and Wurmple in a flowery field. She is in an elegant dress and they are preparing to compete in a Cute Pokemon Contest. James and Meowth have long ago realized this isn't her Wurmple, but Jessie won't listen. Taillow then flies over ruining the moment. It flies back to Ash and co and tells them that if found Wurmple. Ash and co rush up and Jessie welcomes them. May informs her that she has her Wurmple and they need to switch. Jessie doesn't believe her, but after a brief conversation she begins to know something is wrong with the Wurmple she holds.
In the end, Jessie agrees to have a trade off. She and May walk up to each other and agree to exchange at the exact same time, but Jessie just grabs her Wurmple and the Rocket's take off with both. May tries to grab it back, but trips and the Rockets get away. May chases after, but the Rocket lift away in the balloon. Jessie remarks that she'll give May's Wurmple to the boss and keep her own, but James wonders what the boss would want with one. Meowth suggests that he use the string to sew his ripped clothing.
Ash then has Taillow pop the balloon with wing attack, and it falls into the trees below. May rushes up and grabs her Wurmple, but Jessie won't leave without a fight. She calls out Seviper and orders it to attack, but Ash tells Taillow to use quick attack. Seviper then uses smog, blocking Taillow's view. Ash releases Treecko, who pounds Seviper back. James calls out Cacnea and orders a pin missile while Ash calls on Pikachu. Pikachu dodges the attack, and Jessie orders a poison tail. Treecko dodges and sends it flying with a slam attack, and Pikachu finishes Cacnea off with a quick attack. Both Pokemon fly into the Rockets, who are then sent flying with a thunderbolt from Pikachu.
That evening, May places some Pokemon food down and watches Wurmple eat it happily, then go to sleep. Ash comments that she really must like her Pokemon, as she can tell it apart from others. Masato and Brock agree and May picks it up and hugs it. The scene then heads out to sea with a happy May and her Wurmple hugging.

Steven, Aron, and Aggron

Our heroes are now walking through a thick and lush forest. They then come across a large cave entrance in which Masato comments that they have arrived at Granite Cave. May wonders what they will find in there and Brock suggests that go inside and check it out to see if the elite trainer is there. Ash agrees and Masato informs them that many Pokemon must live in this cave. May reminds him that in a cave this dark, he shouldn't get his hopes up. Ash then stops the conversation by telling them all to follow. They then enter the cave.
Inside the cave, Team Rocket is digging a large hole. James stops digging to take a break and complains at how hot it is, but Jessie tells him to keep digging as the twerps and Pikachu should be by soon. As they bicker, Wobbuffet pops out. Jessie sighs and continues to dig, but doesn't forget to yell at Meowth when he makes a snobby comment.
Ash and co continue through the cave calling out to see if anyone is inside. Ash notices a fork in the cave and becomes confused, but Brock notices a red arrow pointing to the left. Ash calls out down the path, and they decide to try what's down there.
At the end of the path, a man and his Aron are digging. The man stops to take a break and asks Aron if it found anything yet. Aron shakes its head and the man offers it some Pokemon food. It happily accepts and rushes to eat it.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket sits behind some rocks overlooking their hole. Jessie smirks telling the others that the twerps are close, but James disagrees. They suddenly hear Ash call out and duck down. May rushes to the hole seeing the light above. Ash and co follow seconds later and they all tumble down it. Team Rocket rushes out and does a happy dance over their catch. Ash and co look up to see their capturers just as the ground gives way beneath all of them. The man and his Aron hear the commotion as Ash and co fall down a long set of paths and become separated.
Masato pops out of some dirt and calls for everyone. Pikachu and Meowth also pop out. Masato realizes they have been separated and he tells Pikachu that they have to find the others. Meowth offers to help, but Masato doesn't trust him. Meowth does some smart talking and they decide to make a truce. Masato and Pikachu begin to walk off, but Meowth says he should lead and he refuses to follow Pikachu. Masato sighs and tells him that they can leave him there. Pikachu and Masato then walk off, but Meowth yells for them to return and rushes after them.
Meanwhile, May pos out of another path of dirt and complains on how dirty she is. Suddenly, Jessie falls down on top of her. They begin to argue when Jessie says she is going to try and get out. She stands up and tries to climb back up the hole, but it doesn't look to promising. In another part of the cave, Ash and James bicker back and forth while standing shoulder high in a pile of dirt. Brock soon interrupts them and says they should try to get out of here and they can fight later. They all begin to wriggle and squirm, but they can't break free. They take a breather then try again, but still no luck.
Masato, Pikachu, and Meowth all continue on down the trail. Masato explains to Meowth how he and heard that a strong trainer from Devon Corp supposedly trains here. Pikachu suddenly smells something and Masato wonders what it's doing. Meowth motions that he also smells fresh air and he and Pikachu rush off. Masato calls out and follows them.
The man and his Aron follow the path hoping to find the source of the crash. Ash, Brock, and James also are on a path. James soon begins to pout, saying it's useless and they'll be stuck here for the rest of their lives. He dreads the thought and rushes ahead of them calling for Jessie and Meowth. Suddenly, a small ball falls from the ceiling. It opens up to reveal itself as an Aron. It steps into the light growling and Ash scans it with the dex. James walks up to it not very impressed. He begins to prod at it with his hand, which only angers it. The Aron calls out causing many Arons to fall from the ceiling. Ash and Brock freak out and James is insane with fear. The Aron group lunges and Ash and co rush off down the path screaming.
The man makes it to the hole Team Rocket dug and looks down. He notices the nets Team Rocket had and informs Aron that someone must've fallen. He tells it that they have to help them and they both leap down. Ash and co are still running for their lives. James notices 2 tunnels up ahead with another above them. He rushes towards them and begins to climb in the high one, but Ash and Brock push him down and climb up first. James turns around to see the pursuing Arons, and rushes up screaming. The Aron horde continues on down one of the other paths.
Masato, Pikachu, and Meowth make it to a lush waterfall with vines streaming down in the middle of the cave. They ponder at how it could grow here, and decide to climb the vines up. Meanwhile, Jessie and May are having no luck. Jessie is still trying to squirm up the hole, but May just sits there. She tells Jessie to hurry, but she begins to scream, saying May should help. May gets up telling her all she had to do was ask, and she begins to shove Jessie up the hole. Jessie emerges on another floor of the cave, but she becomes stuck in the hole. She freaks out and screams for May to push harder, but she just won't budge. Suddenly, a Loudred falls from the floor above and dances around Jessie's head. Jessie freaks out and the Pokemon smashes over her head and runs off. Jessie collapses and falls back down the hole.
May asks what happened when they suddenly hear a voice from above. The man and his Aron rush on hoping to find them. Meanwhile, Masato, Pikachu, and Meowth are climbing the vines. Meowth stops to take a break and begins to start conversation with Masato. Masato becomes annoyed, saying that for a Pokemon that isn't supposed to talk, he sure does a lot. Meowth begins to explain about how he learned to talk, but Pikachu and Masato press on. A pebble hits Meowth and he realizes they are leaving without him. He yells for them to hold up, and climbs as fast as he can.
Ash and co press on when they suddenly come to the same red arrow as before. They all become excited and rush down the path, only to fall into the same hole as before and tumble back down. The man and his Aron come back to the hole and hear them fall. Masato continues on when Pikachu smells something again, and they head towards it. Jessie and May are now exhausted as the walk down the path. May suddenly notices light at the end of the tunnel and they both speed towards it, only to find the light was coming from above the hole. They fall in screaming.
Ash, Brock, and James run from the Aron horde again. Jessie and May fall down on top of them and they all begin to run from the horde. Masato and the Pokemon rush towards the screaming. They approach a dark part of the tunnel and the man and his Aron emerges. He asks them if they were the ones who fell down the hole, and Masato explains that he is. He then adds in that his other friends did too and Meowth explains that he too has friends missing. The man introduces himself as Steven and explains that the wild Aron in this cave are not very friendly, so they should find the others quick.
They rush down the tunnel and come to a hole. Masato wonders how they will get across. Steven tells them to listen and they all look down to see Ash and co running below them. Masato calls to them and they all look up. Steven tells them to meet him at the waterfall and the group continues to run. Pikachu, Meowth, and Masato then grab onto him and they leap across the hole.
Ash and co make it to the waterfall and turn to see the Aron horde approaching. Steven appears above them and tells them to just stay put. The Aron horde gets very close and they all begin to brace themselves for the worst, but suddenly, the group is stopped dead in their tracks. Ash and co open their eyes to see them all leaving. Steven jumps down as Ash and co stare confusedly.
Team Rocket now takes this chance to steal Pikachu. They say their motto and demand it. Ash warns Steven that Team Rocket is no good, and he should watch out. Jessie releases Seviper and James calls out Cacnea, which gives him a nice hug. Steven tells them to stop, confusing Team Rocket. He tells them that he can't allow them to steal Pokemon, and releases an Aggron! Ash scans it with the Pokedex and it hyper beams Team Rocket sky high. Steven then recalls it. Ash is in awe at the immense power of the Aggron.
Suddenly, Aron motions to Steven that he found something. Steven rushes up to find a fire stone! Ash and co are impressed and Steven explains that he's been digging for days looking for one. After a bit of discussion, Steven agrees to lead them out of the cave. Outside, Steven boards a small boat with Aron and tells Ahs and co that he must go. They thank him for his help as he gives Ash some encouraging advice. He then sets off as Ash and co wave goodbye. Now Ash is more determined then ever to train hard so he may one day match up to Steven and Aggron. They watch Steven go as the sun sets over the ocean.

Why are people under that impression. Loudred isn't following Team Rocket. It is just trying to find a nice place to sleep, but Team Rocket keeps stumbling in on it, or sometimes Ash and co.

Rioter of the Sea! Corphish Enters!

The scene opens with Team Rocket on the beach. James exclaims about how they have made it back to shore and Meowth remarks that they can now get back to stealing Pikachu. A big wave crashes against the shore. Jessie, however, just wants to relax on the nice beach. James and Meowth turn to see her lying on a lounge chair and soaking in the sun. James and Meowth begin to yell, but she just picks up her fruit drink and takes a sip, saying she just wants to take it easy today. Meowth and James continue to bicker, and then they notice Wobbuffet lounging on another nearby lounge chair and begin to yell at it. Whilst they fight, a strange creature speeds towards the beach from the ocean. Jessie starts to speak up when she suddenly notices it and screams. The mysterious creature rams them from under the sand, sending all the Rockets clear over the horizon. The creature then returns to the ocean.
Ash and co now sit on the same spot James and Meowth were in the beginning scene. A wave also crashes down as Ash declares that there will be a lot of training today to prepare them for the rematch with Brawly. Lotad waddles up with some water in its lily pad. Ash notices this and he and Pikachu begin to wash their faces. May and Masato sit at a nearby table brushing their teeth while Brock and Torchic start a fire to prepare the stew.
Ash then releases all his Pokemon and they begin to meditate at the edge of the beach. Ash starts to explain to his Pokemon the importance of meditating and for them to think about winning the match. May wonders what he is doing while Masato sits at the edge of a pool of water washing the clothes. Forretress then collects the clothes and does a rapid spin to dry them. Masato thanks it and he takes the clothes to May to hang up. May asks Masato why Ash is spending all his time meditating, but Brock interrupts. He informs her that meditating is actually a form of training, as it prepares Ash and his Pokemon for matches. He then tells them that he thinks Ash is learning to listen to the waves.
A giant wave begins to head to shore. Taillow begins to freak out but Ash tells it to keep meditating, as if it can learn how to sense the waves, they may be able to beat Brawly and his surfing techniques. Taillow shuts its eyes and continues to meditate as Ash listens intently. The wave grows larger and nearer and Ash tells them all to get out of the way. They all get up and rush off, but when the waves recede. Pikachu lies on the ground covered in seaweed. Ash checks on his Pokemon, now aware that they didn't make it out in time. May laughs a bit and Brock tells Ash to hang up their wet clothes.
Ash and his Pokemon then try again. Ash orders them to run and this time, they all get away, but Treecko stays! It starts to open its eyes, but the wave hits it. Ash wonders why it didn't move and May and Masato comment that it must want to learn to take the attacks. Ash wonders why it isn't listening and May makes a snobby comment about Pokemon Contests, which makes Ash angry.
Treecko continues to take wave after wave, not budging. May then cuts in saying about all she has learned from Pokemon Contests. *** Brock brings the group some tea, May leaps up and begins to dance around. Ash and co are confused, and she then releases Torchic and Wurmple. The two begin to play around, but May comments that they have to learn to be more graceful, and she begins to dance again. She then stops, saying she must've gone too far. Brock agrees and Masato comments that gym battles are different from Pokemon Contests. May walks up to them and starts to brag again, and Ash says she must really like contests.
Suddenly, they all notice that the tent is walking away! Ash and co chase after it and Ash orders Pikachu to shock it, but Brock says that isn't a good idea. May tells Wurmple to stop it with string shot, and it snags the tent. May then tells it to reel it in, but Wurmple seems to be having trouble. Treecko grabs on to help, but it to is pulled forward. Ash and co all grab the string and start to pull, but the strange creature under the tent causes them to trip. It drags them along the beach for a few minutes, then retreats to the water, causing Ash and co to fall in.
Everyone's clothes are now hung up to dry and Ash stands on the beach covered in sand wearing no pants. They inspect the damaged tent and the rice balls that litter the beach and wonder what could've done it. Ash suggests that a group of Digletts could, Brock thinks a Krabby did, and Masato thinks it was an Aron. Brock begins to sew the tent up while exclaiming that a Pokemon that could pull all of them like that must be really strong, but May thinks it was scary. Ash then becomes intrigued and decides he wants to snag and catch it. Brock and Masato agree to help, but May just sighs.
Meanwhile, up on a cliff, Team Rocket recovers from their earlier blast off. Jessie remarks about how strong that thing was and James and Meowth wonder what is was. Wobbuffet pops out at the edge of the cliff and Jessie turns and recalls it. She then notices the mysterious creature speeding up the beach under the sand. She points it out to Meowth and James as the creature smashes into a rock and diverts direction. Jessie instantly wants to get it and she begins to rush off. She jumps over a rock and lands on a sleeping Loudred! Jessie steps back and freaks out as the Pokemon angrily wakes up. It lets out a blood curling cry sending Team Rocket sky high.
That night, Ash and co sit by some bushes waiting for the mysterious creature to reappear. May complains that she is tired and wants to go to bed, but Ash refuses. Masato ticks her off with a smart mouthed comment and she begins to tackle him. Pikachu then hears something and Ash asks if the creature is close. It signals that it is and they all freeze to look out at the Pokemon food they placed at the edge of the beach.
As they wait, Ash suddenly hears something behind him, but it's too late. The creature smashes into them sending them all flying onto the beach. It continues its pursuit and Ash and co split up. It decides to chase May as she runs screaming for her life. Ash turns around and tells Pikachu to shock it, and it does. The creature sinks into the sand and Ash and co examine the hole it left. Ash asks Pikachu if it can still sense it, but Pikachu signals that it's gone.
That morning, Ash and co lean against the tent exhausted. May comments that they shouldn't waster their time catching it, but Ash gets angry. She asks him why he wants to catch something that almost killed her, but he still doesn't listen. Brock suggests they try a different plan and Ash says if it attacks again, he and Pikachu will shock it. He then adds in that he saw three spikes protrude from the sand when it attached, and he suggests that it may be a pair of Sandslashes. Masato remembers Sandslash and says he learned about it in Professor Oak's Pokemon Guide. May is confused and he pulls out the book and shows her.
The group then heads back to the beach and Brock has Forretress make a huge hole in the sand with rapid spin. Brock thanks it and tells it to make more as Ash explains they are going to use the pitfall trick. May and Masato cover the holes with leaves as Ash explains that when the Pokemon tries to chase them, it'll fall into the holes. May and Masato don't think it'll work.
That night, Ash and co wait in the bushes again while watching the Pokemon food. Ash notices three large bunches of seaweed emerge from the water. They walk up and begin to eat the Pokemon food. Brock says the plan is working and he sets some more food on a nearby rock. One of the seaweed bunches spies this and the three head towards the new food, only to fall into a hole!
Ash and co approach, only to find that they have snagged Team Rocket. They begin to say their motto, but May and Masato interrupt, asking why they were covered and seaweed and eating Pokemon food. Team Rocket cowers in the hole, saying they had to make do. Suddenly, the creature emerges from the hole and smashes Team Rocket out, sending them blasting off again! The creature then slides up the side of the hole and heads towards the food, but Pikachu quick attacks it, sanding it flying out of the sand. It lands with a thud to reveal that it is actually a Corphish!
Ash scans it with the dex and Brock says that Ash should catch it fast, as its speed and power will be perfect in a match against Brawly. Ash agrees and sends in Pikachu as Corphish gets up. Masato thinks this will be easy, as Corphish is at a disadvantage. Pikachu starts with thunderbolt, but Corphish dodges and uses bubble. It then digs under the ground leaving Pikachu confused. It looks around, but Corphish smashes up and uses crab hammer, sending Pikachu flying. As it falls, it tries to use iron tail, but Corphish catches it and chucks it at Ash, sending him flying back.
Brock comments that this Corphish is stronger then he thought, and Ash has a challenge on his hands. Ash agrees, but he now lays all his trust in Treecko. Ash releases it and the match begins. Ash tells Treecko to meditate, and it closes its eyes and stands there. May wonders what he is doing but Ash seems to know. The sun begins to rise and Corphish becomes impatient. It uses bubble, but Ash tells Treecko to hit them away. It uses slam, knocking the bubbles off course. Corphish begins to steam and it rushes in for a crab hammer, but Treecko quick attacks it, sending it flying. It lands on the ground and Ash throws a Pokeball, catching it!
Ash picks up his Pokeball and does his "I caught a Pokemon" pose. Brock, May, and Masato congratulate him and Ash releases Corphish. He kneels down and introduces himself, saying he hopes to train it well. Corphish smiles and shakes his hand, but ends up tossing Ash in the process. Everyone laughs and the scene rises; Ash with a new Pokemon.

Run Ash! Cross the Carvanha River!

Ash and co are now relaxing on the beach after a fine capture. Ash and his Pokemon sit in a circle while he polishes his Pokeballs. Brock, May, and Masato are at a nearby table cleaning dishes. May says Ash must really like to keep his Pokeballs clean and Brock explains that part of being a trainer is making sure your Pokemon are happy, and polishing their Pokeballs makes them very happy. Masato comments that he has never seen May polish her Torchic's Pokeball, which embarrasses her. She tells him that she plans to but she hasn't got around to it yet.
Ash stops his polishing and stares at the shiny Pokeball. He then looks around at his Pokemon and asks if they are hungry. At this, Corphish turns and scuttles up to a nearby patch of seaweed. It begins to devour it, causing Ash and co to look on awkwardly. The seaweed soon disappears, but at the end of it is a long rope. May puts her finger to her chine, wondering why a rope would be at the end of a bushel of seaweed. Masato replies that maybe someone is fishing for it. At this, Ash rushes to Corphish and tells it to stop. Corphish notices it is eating the rope and tugs hard, causing it to tear and smack Ash in the face. He flies into a tree wincing in pain. Brock, May, and Masato look on nervously as Corphish happily scuttles by.
Soon the food is done and everyone releases their Pokemon. Ash introduces the group to Corphish, who gives them all a happy greeting by happily smacking the heck out of them. May picks up Wurmple and Torchic and yells at Ash, saying that her Pokemon aren't going to play with a bully. Ash tells her that Corphish doesn't mean it, and that is just how it says hello. May looks down to see it happily looking up at her and sighs.
Everyone sits down to eat as Masato and Ash compliment Brock on his fine cooking. Masato then notices May isn't eating and asks her what's wrong. May sighs and looks down at Wurmple, who hasn't touched its food and is just lying there. She tells them that she's worried as Wurmple usually loves to eat. She then kneels down by it and asks it if it would like some food, but it just shakes its head. Torchic pushes its bowl towards Wurmple, but it still shakes its head.
Suddenly, Corphish enters and starts devouring both bowls at the same time. May scolds it and Ash tells it that the food is for May's Pokemon. It doesn't seem to care and just happily looks up at Ash. While this goes on, a claw comes down and wraps around Pikachu. Ash and co look to see Pikachu being pulled up into none other then Team Rocket's balloon. They say their motto in a slow motion manner, then Meowth places Pikachu in a cage.
Ash demands them to release it, but of course they refuse. Pikachu tries to shock its way out, but the cage is shock proof. Jessie leans over the side and says goodbye as the balloon begins to lift. May looks down at Wurmple and tells it to help get Pikachu back. It lazily nods and May has it use string shot, snatching the balloon. James and Jessie are annoyed and tell Meowth to put the gas on. He does so and the balloon begins to pull them. Ash and co grab onto the string and pull back. The tug o war lasts for a few seconds when Ash orders Corphish to help out. It grins happily and snips the string with its pincer, sending Ash and co falling back and the balloon falling.
May gets up and angrily yells at Corphish. Brock reminds her to take it easy as they'll find Pikachu. Masato agrees and comments that no matter how many times Team Rocket gets away, they always find them again. Ash gets up and laughs embarrassedly, then rushes off to find Pikachu. Everyone follows.
In a small clearing, Team Rocket moans in their fallen balloon. James says he is sick of always falling, but they all brighten up when they notice Pikachu is still with them. Suddenly, Ash and co rush up causing Team Rocket to sigh. Ash tells Corphish to free Pikachu with bubble, and it fires the little stars at the balloon. The balloon explodes sending Team Rocket flying and Pikachu with them. James calls out Cacnea to retrieve Pikachu, but it just hugs him. Jessie calls out Seviper who snags Pikachu with its tail before it is able to reach Ash.
May calls out Wurmple and has it hook Pikachu with string shot. May and Brock pull the string which causes Seviper to let go. Pikachu falls into Ash's arm and he hugs it happily. May looks down at Wurmple and thanks it, but it just lazily nods. Jessie begins to laugh and comments that her Wurmple is a lot cuter then May's pathetic one. She releases it and begins to model it, but May says she isn't impressed. May adds in that her Wurmple is a lot stronger, which puts Jessie in a rage. She begins to yell and scream at the top of her lungs, saying that her Wurmple's cuteness overweighs May's Wurmple's strength.
Suddenly, Jessie's Wurmple begins to glow. Jessie becomes shocked along with everyone else. May then looks down at her Wurmple and it also begins to glow. Masato and Brock comment that both Pokemon must be evolving! Jessie and May look down as the Pokemon finish their evolution. May's is a lighter and happier looking Silcoon whilst Jessie's is the purple Cascoon. Ash excitedly tells May her Pokemon evolved and he scans it with the dex. May and Jessie happily pick up their Pokemon, each exclaiming that they are one step closer to the beautiful Beautifly they both desire. James and Meowth look at Jessie's Cascoon, which has mean eyes, then to May's Silcoon which has happy eyes. They shrug and Meowth tells him it is time to reclaim Pikachu.
James tells Cacnea to attack, but Ash quickly has Corphish counter with crabhammer. Pikachu then blasts the rockets off with a thunderbolt. Everyone cheers, but the moment is soon ruined when Corphish collapses! Brock feels its head and exclaims that it is burning up and needs to get to the Pokemon Center immediately. Ash searches his belt for Corphish's Pokeball, but then realizes he left them all at their camp. He picks up Corphish piggy back style and tells the others that he'll carry Corphish to the nearest Pokemon Center. They all try to tell him to go to camp first, but Ash exclaims that there is no time. He asks Treecko and Taillow to go back to camp with the others, and Pikachu follows him.
Ash ascends a hill with his Pokemon at his side. Corphish suddenly begins to steam and Ash realizes it is getting worse and he needs to get Corphish some water. They come to a nearby stream where Ash fills a leaf full of water. He pours it into Corphish's mouth and its temperature dies down. Ash then realizes that Team Rocket's interruption gave him no time to eat. Pikachu notices a berry tree and they each take a berry.
Ash comments on how good the food is when he hears a faint growling. He looks down to see that he has stepped on and angered a Shroomish! Ash freaks out and runs as the Pokemon releases a vile stun spore. At camp, May wonders if Ash is doing all right. Brock says that Ash will never give up when it comes to helping his Pokemon, and that should be enough hope for them.
Ash makes it to a large river and spies the Pokemon Center just a ways across. He begins to wade through the river when suddenly a large school of Carvanha leaps from the water. Ash falls back to show and places Corphish down. He freaks out and scans them with the dex as they angrily leap from the water. When Ash hears their vile description, he tries to look for another way across. He looks around until he spies a small boat behind some bushes.
He begins to sail out when the school leaps from the water. Ash tells Pikachu to shock them, and they all descend back underwater. After a few seconds, the whole school leaps up again, and this time, they reach the boat. They all begin to chomp down, breaking apart the boat. Ash leaps out and rushes to shore just as the boat sinks. He sighs and tells Pikachu they'll follow the river till they find a bridge.
Ash carries Corphish along the bank when he spies a bridge up ahead. But as they approach, it becomes apparent that the bridge is broken. Ash comes up with a plan and places Corphish and Pikachu on a board. He begins to wade across the river again while holding the two Pokemon above him. As they near the other side, the Carvanha school approaches. Ash tells Pikachu to leap to shore and it does so. It begins to shock the Carvanha so that they don't reach Ash. The plan seems to work when another school approaches from the opposite side. Ash tells Pikachu to shock them, but a few make it to Ash and begin to bash him.
Corphish looks down at Ash who informs it that no matter what he has to get across. He tells it to hold in and they'll be across soon. A lone Carvanha leaps from the water and smacks into Pikachu, causing it to fall back. With Pikachu gone, the whole school leaps at Ash, but Corphish thinks fast and releases a barrage of bubbles, blowing them back. Ash leaps to shore and places Corphish down. He then collapses and pants heavily. He thanks Corphish who smiles then slumps.
At the Pokemon Center, Nurse Joy informs Ash that he got it there just in time. Ash thanks her for her help and she tells him it was no problem. She then sighs, saying she can't save her net. Ash looks to see a broken net which is actually part of the one Corphish broke! Ash embarrassedly laughs and explains what happened.
That night, Brock and co sit by the fire reading books. Ash's Pokemon lie next to a tree. May suddenly asks if they hear something, and Brock says it sounds like an Aron. They then decide to investigate. They all walk along the beach for a while, when they suddenly notice the noise was actually a tape player playing Aron noises! Suddenly, cages spring from the sand and trap everyone, but Taillow flies up just in time. Everyone hears the laughter of Team Rocket as they emerge.
They walk up to the group exclaiming that they finally have Pikachu, but Meowth notices that Ash and Pikachu are missing. They all pout, knowing there plan is another failure. James then wonders where the third cage is and he kicks the ground, causing the cage to spring up around them! Team Rocket becomes depressed and screams to be let out. Treecko tries to tackle the cage, but it doesn't seem to be working. Team Rocket tells it to keep trying, but May informs them that they may not get out before the tide comes in. Water begins to reach Brock's foot.
At the Pokemon Center, Ash lies at the bedside of Corphish. He tells it to hang in there and it happily smacks his head with its pincer, but Ash just chuckles. Meanwhile, the water is now getting closer and everyone begins to worry. Brock then notices the tape recorder and Taillow and has a plan.
The next day, Ash thanks Joy and kneels down to his fully healed Corphish. Suddenly, Taillow flies in with the tape recorder around its neck. Ash plays it to hear Brock telling him their predicament. Ash thanks Joy again and rushes to their aid.
The water is now up to everyone's necks, and they scream out for rescue. May and Masato suddenly notice Corphish speeding toward them and they become excited. Nurse Joy steers a boat with Pikachu and Ash who wave to them. Ash then orders Corphish to break the cages, and it breaks them all with a crabhammer.
On the docks, Team Rocket bows to Ash and co, exclaiming that they aren't worthy and thanking Ash. They then get up with nets and say that won't stop them from taking Pikachu. Ash just sighs and has Pikachu send them flying with thunder and a bubble from Corphish. Everyone cheers and Brock begins to flirt with Joy. May and Masato kneel down and thank Corphish and May apologizes for yelling at it earlier. It then happily smacks each of them with its pincers. Everyone winces in pain, but they all begin to laugh as the scene rises.

The Secret Pond! Full of Mudkip!

Ash and co are now walking along a small stream towards their next adventure. May holds up her fingers in a photo position and pretends she is a camera interviewer talking about her. She talks to herself, saying how she is going to be a great Pokemon Contests Competitor. Ash, Brock, and Masato get bored and decide to check out the Pokenavi for info on this area. Masato exclaims that there are many different types of Pokemon in this area, which entices Ash.
May continues to fake broadcast her life when she suddenly "zooms in" on a waterfall up ahead. She then wonders how they are going to scale it and Brock has an idea. He grabs a rock and ties it to a rope, then has Lotad water gun t up the waterfall. The rock wraps onto a branch above the waterfall and Brock pulls it tight.
Brock exclaims that he'll go up first and they can follow. He begins to climb with Lotad on his shoulder. After a while, May helps Ash up and everyone is then up the waterfall. Ash thanks May for the help and compliments Brock on a great idea. May begins to explain that she had a better idea but Brock beat her too it. She begins to explain how she would have her "o so cute" Silcoon use string shot to get them up, but it just makes the rest nervous.
Ash then notices a foggy lake behind them. Masato checks the Pokenavi to see that the current in this lake spreads around a small island. They then decide to check it out. Brock pulls ahead of the group and motions back to the others that the ground gets a bit muddy up ahead. Our heroes soon step out of the fog which puts them at the edge of a large lake. All along the lake are Mudkips!
Ash notices them and uses the dex to scan them. May remembers her earlier encounter with Mudkip on the first day of her training, and decides that she wants a cute water type. They all look out over the lake where two Mudkips are talking on a small rock. May rushes up exclaiming that she is going to catch one, but as she nears the lake a large Mudkip jumps from the bushes. May looks just in time to be sprayed with a water gun. May sighs, saying she just doesn't have good luck with water Pokemon.
Suddenly, everyone notices a small Mudkip being pulled away by the current. Brock orders Lotad to rescue it and it leaps into the water. Lotad reaches the Mudkip and scoops it into its lily pad, but the current begins to pull it too. Brock calls for it, but the large Mudkip comes to the rescue. It pulls Lotad to shore and Brock runs up and thanks it. The Mudkip leaps back with an angry look on its face, and Brock tries to explain that May meant no harm and they are just here to observe. The Mudkips falls back into the bushes as the others approach. Brock picks up the small Mudkip and begins to play with it.
In the bushes near them, an old man with a hairstyle much like Mudkip's gills and head flipper pops out. He begins to yell at Ash and co, asking what they are doing to the Mudkip. May puts up her "camera" again and begins to narrate, but Ash interrupts and tells the man that they meant no harm. He explains that he and his friends stumbled upon the lake and Brock saved the Mudkip. Brock blushes and laughs. The man then understands and Ash introduces everyone. The man then introduces himself as Numaji, and tells them that he is here to study the Mudkip. Ash walks up to Numaji and begins to prod at him while making fun of his name.
Numaji tells him to back off, and Ash nervously laughs. Brock asks Numaji why he spends all his time studying the Mudkip, and he explains that Mudkip are very social and interesting Pokemon, but they need a lot of protection.
Numaji then takes them to his cabin where they all sit down for lunch. Brock asks Numaji how he helps out the Mudkip in the area, and he informs him that he breeds the Mudkip. Ash looks at a nearby desk to see an incubator with several Mudkip eggs inside. Numaji explains that the eggs need special care while May does her "reporter" act. Brock then adds in that he has never heard of Numaji, which agitates him. He begins to name off some of his achievements, but even Ash and May comment that he is unknown to them. Masato then says that he remembers reading something about him in Pokemon Monthly, and Numaji exclaims that he was in that magazine. Masato then informs Numaji that Brock is a breeder also, which entices Numaji. He asks Brock if he would like to help him with the Mudkip, and Brock says he would be glad too.
Outside, Numaji shows Ash and co to a Mudkip nest. An egg inside begins to hatch, and a newborn Mudkip appears. The first thing it does is….spray May! Brock then asks Numaji about the larger Mudkip. Numaji explains about how usually when the Mudkip grow old enough, they lave the safety of the lake for better waters, but that particular Mudkip decided to stay to protect the young ones. Brock seems to take a liking to Mudkip at this statement.
Meanwhile, Jessie, James, and Meowth are listening in at a nearby fence. They pull away and begin to argue as to whether enter or leave. Jessie argues that they go see what's inside, but Meowth says they can't get by the fence. Jessie says she knows how and releases Seviper. James calls out Cacnea which hugs him to death. Jessie has Seviper poison tail the fence but nothing happens. James then orders Cacnea to tackle it, but it accidentally tackles him, sanding him crashing into the fence and breaking it.
A few cans on some string begin to rattle which alerts Numaji that someone is trespassing. He tells Ash and co that he has to go investigate, and rushes away. May begins to narrate her life again, and she, Ash, and Masato chase after him. Brock goes to, but the Mudkip from before leaps out. Brock asks it why it's here, and the Mudkip runs away.
Brock chases the Mudkip to the lake, but finds that it is missing. He calls for it and it slowly comes out of the bushes. Brock informs it that he doesn't want to hurt it, but it still is nervous. Brock pulls out some Pokemon food and offers it to Mudkip. The Mudkip still pulls back and Brock sighs.
Ash and co make it to the shattered fence and Numaji says someone must have intruded. He looks around for a few seconds then steps on a soda can. He picks it up wondering where the trespassers could've gone. Team Rocket then leaps from the bushes and say their motto. Numaji is confused and Ash explains that Team Rocket is probably here to steal the Pokemon. Numaji the yells at the rockets, saying they aren't going to steal the Mudkips. At this, Team Rocket becomes very enticed. They begin to talk about stealing the Mudkips. Jessie says she would love a cute Pokemon and James begins to jump for joy.
May cuts in, asking Numaji if the Mudkip are safe in the lake. Numaji says they can swim away if intruders come, but if the intruders were to destroy the small dam up ahead, the Mudkip would get caught in the current and would be easily snatched up. Ash freaks out and says he just gave away the secret and Numaji covers his mouth.
Team Rocket hears this little conversation and James releases Cacnea. He orders it to destroy the dam, but it just whacks him into it, smashing it down and spilling water into the lake. Brock is still trying to win over the Mudkip when they both notice the coming current. Brock releases Forretress and has it use rapid spin to blow the water back. He then uses this time to release Lotad. He and Lotad gather the baby Mudkips and bring them to shore, but they soon realize that two Mudkips are still out there.
The large Mudkip leaps into the water and brings the two to shore just as Forretress looses the wave. All the Mudkip are safe on a hill, but Brock soon notices one Mudkip who is being washed away. The large Mudkip jumps into the water and grabs onto the baby, but it to gets caught in the current. Brock rushes along the river's edge calling to it. Ash and co arrive to see what's going on just as the Mudkip goes over the falls!
Mudkip grabs onto a rock in the middle of the waterfall and holds on for dear life. Brock comes to the edge of the river and calls down to it. He looks around and spies the rock and rope from earlier. He ties himself to it and leaps down to rescue Mudkip. He becomes level with it and tries to persuade it to trust him. After a lot of convincing, Mudkip leaps into his arms with the baby and Ash and co pulls them up.
Back to safety, Numaji asks Brock if he's all right. Brock says he is, but they suddenly hear a loud crash. Ash and co turn to see a giant robotic….person with shovels for hands! OH MY! It turns out to be Team Rocket, who say their usual "we're going to steal the Pokemon routine". They begin to use the shovels to scoop the Mudkips up as Ash and co tell them to stop.
Brock tries to think of an idea, but he can't seem to. He then notices the robot's foot starting to sink and realizes that he can use the muddy bank to his advantage. He tells Ash and co his plan and then has Lotad and Mudkip use water gun on the bank below the robot. Team Rocket begins to laugh, saying that a little water never hurt anyone, but they suddenly realize that they are sinking. Lotad continues to water gun the ground while Mudkip tackles the robot to free the baby Mudkips. With the Mudkips free, Ash has Pikachu thunderbolt the robot, sending the rockets blasting off again.
On the banks, Brock congratulates Mudkip. Ash says that they make a great team and Numaji agrees. He then tells Brock that he should have Mudkip. Brock asks if that would be wise seeing as how it protects the babies, but Numaji says that it has been here long enough and needs a good trainer to let it see the world and get stronger. Ash, May, and Masato tell him to take it, and Brock asks Mudkip if it wants to go with him. Mudkip thinks it over for a little bit, then happily jumps into his arms. Brock promises to take good care of it and Numaji tells him to make sure they work as a team. The scene then rises with Brock happily hugging his new Mudkip.

Attack of the Nuzleaf Family!

Ash and co are now heading back through Granite Cave so that Ash may have his long desired rematch against Brawly. All their Pokemon follow while the group makes jokes to each other. Corphish then hears something from a nearby tunnel and scuttles into it.
There it finds the same sleeping Loudred seen many times before. Corphish prods it, causing its ear to wiggle in annoyance. Corphish notices this and becomes extremely happy. It clamps down on its ear, instantly waking the Loudred. It screams in pain and rushes from the tunnel where our heroes hear it. They turn around to see it bashing against a wall. Corphish falls off and the Loudred begins to run at the group.
It screams out its loud howls, causing Ash and co to fall and hold their ears. After a few seconds, Brock releases Forretress and has it use rapid spin to smash a hole in the cave wall. Brock runs to it and tells everyone to follow him out. Loudred is now on a huge rampage and it ends up smashing into a nearby rock, causing Ash and co to fall. Silcoon falls from May's hands and begins to role away. All the Pokemon see this and chase after it, but Lotad lags a little behind. The Loudred is finally calmed and it angrily digs under ground. Ash and co sigh, knowing the danger is over. Brock suddenly realizes that the Pokemon are not present and May notices Silcoon is gone too!
Silcoon stops at the edge of a small hill over a river. Pikachu tries to grab it, but it can't reach. Corphish now wants to try and stretches over Pikachu to reach it. Corphish's claw snags Silcoon, but it slips and rolls into the water. This action startles Corphish, who also slips, sending Pikachu, and Torchic into the river. Treecko and Mudkip look at each other, nod, then dive in. Lotad waddles up seconds later and dives in after them.
Pikachu hangs onto Silcoon as they are brought downstream. Torchic rides Mudkip whilst Corphish, Treecko, and Lotad swim. The group soon comes to a waterfall and slide over it. Pikachu and Silcoon land with a thud. Pikachu looks around to see all the Pokemon startled, but ok. Corphish, however, is stuck in the ground. It tries to wiggle free but can't, and begins to freak out.
Pikachu rushes to it and tries to pull it out, but with no luck. Treecko then uses slam, causing Corphish to fly high into the sky and twinkle as it disappears. Moments later Corphish comes back down and lands on its feet. It becomes angry and starts to taunt Treecko. Treecko gets angry and prepares to fight, which also makes Corphish do the same. Pikachu and Mudkip get in between to try and stop them as the Pokemon try to reach for each other. Torchic stands next to Lotad. It becomes saddened when it realizes they are lost, but Pikachu tries to reassure it. Mudkip then finally helps Corphish and Treecko calm down and they shake. The Pokemon then grab Silcoon and head off.
Meanwhile, Ash and co are still inside the cave. Ash wonders where the Pokemon are and May comments that she hopes the loud Pokemon didn't get them. Ash then wonders what Pokemon it was and Masato tells him to look it up in the dex. Ash does so, and the 4 ponder of what to do next. May tells them that they have to find the Pokemon before Loudred does, and Ash agrees.
In another part of the cave, Team Rocket seems to be lost. James sighs, saying it's hopeless. Jessie says it is all James fault, but he disagrees. He then says that Meowth must've made a wrong turn, but Meowth claims that it was Jessie's fault. Jessie gets angry and says if it was anyone's fault, it was Meowth's. At this point, Wobbuffet pops out, angering Jessie. She tells it to get back in its ball before they start to blame it, but she suddenly realizes that it's standing on something. She looks down to see the Loudred wake up. It becomes extremely angry and uses hyper voice, sending the Rockets blasting off.
The Pokemon group marches on when Corphish notices some mushrooms. It picks one and begins to put it to its mouth, but Pikachu tackles it away. Corphish gets angry and Pikachu explains that the mushrooms are poisonous and it eaten, they could be fatal. Corphish turns to take another one, but Mudkip finds something better; a berry tree! Corphish rushes too it and begins to pick bushel after bushel. Mudkip sighs as Corphish scarves them all down, but it suddenly begins to choke! All the Pokemon are sighing now, and Treecko uses slam. Corphish goes flying and the berry comes out. It happily gets up and jumps up and down.
The Pokemon then march on and start to do a marching song. Up above, a Nuzleaf sits on a branch. It gives off a smirk, then grabs a leaf. As the Pokemon press on, they begin to hear some faint music. The Nuzleaf is using grass whistle, which makes the Pokemon drowsy. They all begin to march in circles around a rock below, making the Nuzleaf laugh. After some time, Treecko snaps out of it and stops. Soon all the Pokemon are aware of what happened, and Treecko begins to look for the cause. Pikachu looks up and sees the Nuzleaf laughing hysterically. Treecko gets mad and tosses its twig at it, but Nuzleaf leaps down.
On the grass, Corphish steps up. Nuzleaf taunts it and Corphish rushes in. Nuzleaf is very fast however, and it dodges. It begins to laugh again, but it soon realizes Corphish took a small chunk out of its leaf. This angers it, and it lets out a very loud call which echoes through the forest. It then smirks and jumps into the trees, leaving the Pokemon confused. Meanwhile, Ash and co are searching for the Pokemon. Taillow searches by air while they search the ground. May stops looking, and tells Ash that she is scared and hopes her Pokemon are all right. Ash says they are fine, and if they get into trouble, the other Pokemon will be there to help. May cheers up and continues to look.
The Pokemon press on when Corphish notices some berries hanging from a string. It clamps onto them and is pulled into the tree above. Lotad then notices a quiet pond and leaps in, but is soon netted and pulled up. After a few steps, Treecko turns to see the two Pokemon missing. A rope comes down and snags its tail. Treecko struggles, but it is pulled up. Pikachu and Mudkip pass a small flower, but Torchic becomes obsessed with its fragrance and soon realizes there is a whole bunch of them. It runs into the flower patch, but is netted as well.
Torchic calls out, causing Mudkip and Pikachu to look back. Whilst they do, a Nuzleaf grabs Silcoon from above and hoists it up. Pikachu looks up to see two Nuzleaf in the tree laughing. Pikachu demands it back, but the Nuzleaf just rush off. Pikachu and Mudkip chase after. Taillow flies by and notices this, causing it to hurry back to Ash and co.
Deep in the woods, all the Pokemon are being held in a cage surrounded by Nuzleaf. The one explains to the others how Corphish cut its leaf, and they all agree it should be punished. Torchic starts to cry but Lotad just looks confused. The Nuzleaf begin to start a fire while the trapped Pokemon try to escape. Treecko tackles the cage, but it has no effect. Corphish then tries to crab hammer it, but still nothing. The Nuzleaf all begin to laugh.
In the bushes, Team Rocket watches the little scene. Jessie wonders what kind of Pokemon they are, and Meowth explains that they are Nuzleaf. James wonders what they are doing, and Meowth begins to explain. He tells the two that Nuzleaf always travel in groups, and when one is hurt ,it affects the whole family. He then adds in that they are masters at trickery and thieving. Jessie is intrigued, and exclaims that a whole family of them would be great to have on their side to do the stealing. Meowth then notices Pikachu and Mudkip approaching. James suggests that they steal Pikachu, and get a whole family of Nuzleaf at the same time!
Pikachu demands they release its friends, but the Nuzleaf refuse. Pikachu then goes into aggressive negotiations and begins to spark, but Mudkip wants to try. It walks up to them and begins to talk with the group. The Nuzleaf are not convinced and still refuse. After some time, a net falls down and snags the whole Nuzleaf family! Mudkip then turns to see Pikachu snatched up by a robotic hand!
Team Rocket is above in their balloon. They gloat at their capture and say their motto. Pikachu tries to shock the hand, but to no surprise, it's shock proof. Nuzleaf tries to use leaf blade, but the net is unaffected. Meowth laughs, saying he came prepared and made the net out of steel and the hand shock proof. Jessie is confused, and asks if Mudkip can hurt them. Meowth just laughs, saying Mudkip can't possibly do a thing. James gets excited, thinking they may actually get away!
Mudkip runs to the cage and uses water gun, but nothing happens. Ash and co then arrive and have Forretress use rapid spin with help from Taillow to smash the cage. May is so happy to have her Pokemon back. She calls to them and they both rush to her. Ash welcomes his Pokemon back and asks where Pikachu is. They motion up and Ash notices Team Rocket above. Ash tells Corphish to send him up there with crab hammer.
The Nuzleaf family and Pikachu look down to see Ash flying right at them. He latches onto the net, surprising the Rockets. He tells the Nuzleaf group that he'll free them, but to hold on. He begins to pry at the net, but it won't budge. Team Rocket laughs, exclaiming that there is no way a little twerp can tear it. Ash begins to bite at it, and it finally snaps! The Nuzleaf group falls to the ground happy to be free. Team Rocket looks down in shock. Ash now turns his sights to Pikachu and tries to pry the arm open. James releases Cacnea and tells it to stop Ash. It uses pin missile, but Ash ducks, causing the pins to hit the arm. It breaks and Pikachu is freed!
Team Rocket is shocked, but Ash is worried. He looks down and notices that they are too high to jump. Brock notices the Nuzleaf and has a plan. Team Rocket begins to snicker, exclaiming that they still have Pikachu. Brock calls up to Ash and he looks down to see the group all holding the net for him to jump into. Ash leaps from the balloon and lands perfectly into it, shocking the Rockets. Treecko then slams Corphish into the sky so its bubble can reach the balloon. It uses bubble, popping it and sending the Rockets blasting off.
Corphish cheers, then suddenly realizes it's falling and freaks out. It is about to crash to Earth when Treecko uses its tail as a cushion and snags it. Corphish is shocked and leaps off angrily. The two stare each other down, then give a high five. Brock comments that they make a great team. Ash then thanks the Nuzleaf family, who smile and nod. That evening, the family and the Pokemon shake hands and play while Ash scans the group with his dex. He then comments that Pikachu makes the best friends, and the scene rises to the setting sun.

Team Aqua Vs Team Magama! Secret Base Battle!

Ash and co are now running along the beach, getting in some much needed training. Brock runs ahead with a whistle, blowing it every so often to make the others keep up. Ash and Masato are a few feet behind him, the Pokemon behind them, and May lags behind exhausted. After some time, Brock stops. Ash asks why he stopped and Brock points to a large object on the edge of a cliff some distance away. Everyone stares at it, wondering what it could be.
The object turns out to be Professor Birch, who is inspecting a Wingull nest on the cliff. As he does so, the mother Wingull returns and begins to peck at him. He falls down, landing on none other then the sleeping Loudred! He gets up and notices it, but is blown back by a giant rush of sound from the Pokemon. He falls over stunned as the Loudred angrily marches off.
Ash and co approach and greet him. The group then sits on some rocks and begin to catch up with each other. Ash asks Birch what he is doing in Dewford, and he informs them that it is the Wingull's nesting season, and he likes to study them in their natural environment. Professor Birch goes on, explaining that he likes to do field work instead of sitting in a lab all day. May doesn't get what's so great about Wingulls nesting, but Masato cuts in, arguing that everything about Pokemon is important. The professor laughs, commenting that Masato really likes Pokemon. He then turns to Ash and asks him if he challenged the gym leader yet. Ash is embarrassed, saying he kind of lost while laughing nervously.
Team Rocket spies on Ash and co from behind some rocks. They wonder what the professor is doing all the way out here, then Meowth makes a comment on how he must have some valuable Pokemon with him, enticing the team.
Ash and co crowd around Birch and explain to him how Ash is battling through the gyms while May just wants to compete in contests. The professor likes this and asks the group if they would like to join him in his research today. Ash, May, and Masato are overjoyed, but Brock isn't too thrilled. He blows the whistle and holds out a contract, saying they signed on for some Brock's Training, and they are not through yet. Ash and co laugh, saying the professor's research is training, and they head off, leaving Brock saddened.
Meanwhile, in a field somewhere offshore, a red helicopter lands. Several Team Magma grunts leap out smiling. Ash and co arrive at a large tunnel and decide to investigate it. As they reach the end, a small door blocks the path. Masato walks up to it and knocks, but no one answers. He shrugs and checks the knob, exclaiming that it's unlocked.
Ash opens the door and the group heads inside. A Pokemon desk and chair are present, along with plants and a bookshelf; this is obviously a secret base. Masato pulls a book off the shelf and begins to read. Suddenly a small boy and his Nincada rush in screaming. He yells at the group, saying they are intruding. Ash is shocked and explains that they stumbled by. The boy becomes enraged, screaming that his secret base isn't secret anymore. He tells Nincada to attack, and the group rushes out of the base scared stiff.
Team Rocket is hiding behind a tarp against the wall. Meowth and James comment that the kid's Nincada is pretty strong and Jessie says it should be easy to steal. Outside, Ash and co take a breather. Birch explains that secret bases are all the rage now, and trainers put them up everywhere as kind of their own little hideaway. Ash and co understand.
The boy begins to clean up, when a knock comes at the door. He opens it to find no one there and shrugs. He turns around, but Team Rocket appears at the door. They greet him, then happily pull out their Pokeballs. The kid screams and seconds later, he rushes from the base. Inside, Team Rocket laughs as they watch him go. Meowth is perched on top of Nincada grinning.
Somewhere in the ocean, a sub surfaces. Several Team Aqua grunts leap out in scuba gear and dive under the water. Back in the base, Jessie has Cascoon tie Nincada up. She then hugs it, praising it for a good job. Meowth and James sigh and begin to play with the boy's computer. James contacts the boss and is surprised he actually answers! He flies back and Jessie steps up.
They all crowd around as he asks them what their progress in Hoenn is. They say it's going great and they even have their own Rocket base now. The 3 show off the secret base, but Giovanni isn't impressed. He asks if they have taken care of the other teams yet, but James says they are working on it. Meowth says Team Rocket will be the only team in Hoenn soon, and Giovanni angrily hangs up. The three sigh, knowing they need to get working. Jessie then comments that they have a base and a Pokemon now, so they should be in control in no time, and they all cheer.
Outside, Ash and co head away from the cave. May suddenly notices the boy from before sulking on a rock. They approach him and apologize while introducing themselves. The boy's name is Kosagi, and he tells them to go away. Masato asks where Nincada is and the boy begins to cry. He tells them that his base and his Pokemon were stolen from him.
Back in the base, Jessie makes a string leash and ties it to Nincada. She then has it start digging, exclaiming that they need to make this base a whole lot bigger if they want to fit Team Rocket grunts inside. Suddenly the door swings open and Team Magma spills into the room. Team Rocket recognizes them from before and Jessie yells, saying this is their base. The Magma grunt leader informs them that they are in the way, and this base belongs to them now. Team Rocket refuses, and the grunt's release several Mightyenas. Jessie and James freak out, and rush from the base.
With them gone, the grunts bring in a large drill. It crushes Kosagi's stuff as it makes its way to the back of the room. The drill begins to drill a hole in the back wall, making a tunnel. The grunt leader looks on, then motions for them to head inside.
Outside, Ash and co sit down listening to Kosagi's horrid tale of how a team stormed his base and overtook him. Masato and Ash are a little confused how this all happened, but they understand. The boy begins to mope, talking about all the time and effort he and Nincada put into the base, and how much he misses his Pokemon. This enrages May. She stands up and begins to yell, saying that instead of moping around he should be trying to get it back. Ash and co are a little embarrassed, and Masato comments that May is usually the one moping when her Pokemon are caught. She falls down, embarrassed. Ash then steps up, exclaiming that he will help Kosagi reclaim his base and get Nincada back. Kosagi is happy and thanks him.
The drill makes it into a large cavern with a huge shrine in the middle. The grunt pushes a button and two missiles shoot into the ceiling, but turn into lights at the top. He then tells the others to move quickly. Team Rocket watches from behind some rocks, wondering what's going on. Jessie exclaims that whatever it is, it must be important, and they should be quiet. She then suggests that the take whatever relics Team Magma finds.
Team Magma rides the drill down to a small pedestal with two holes in it. He tells the others to search the area. Up above, Jessie has Cascoon make a rope out of string so they can scale down the shrine to where the Magma members are. James and Meowth aren't so sure about this. Back at the secret base, Kosagi realizes that all his stuff is destroyed and becomes enraged. They all notice the tunnel, and Ash says they won't get away with this.
At the shrine, Team Magma is doing an extensive search. The leader suddenly gets a call from his superior, saying Team Aqua may be lurking nearby. He walks toward the water. Ash and co enter and see what's going on. Team Rocket is also trying to get inside.
Team Aqua has now made it, and leap from the water. No sooner then this happens does the Magma leader order a shadow ball from Mightyena. The female Aqua leader orders a hydro pump from her Carvanha, blocking the attack. The two stare each other down, then the Aqua leader orders her grunts into the shrine. She tells the Magma leader that the world is better off as an ocean, but the Magma leader disagrees, saying the world should be all land. Ash and co are confused, but Birch explains that these two teams have been fighting in Hoenn for ages, each with a different view on how the world should be. Kosagi then says that these aren't the people who attacked him, and the ones that did had a Meowth.
Down below, the two continue to argue, explaining to each other their viewpoints. They then begin to relay back and forth what their bosses are saying to them. It ends with each leader calling their grunts back for a battle. After a stare down, each leader recalls their Pokemon, saying it isn't worth their time. They have both collected enough information to leave. The Aqua members dive away as the Magma members fly back up on their drill, confusing everyone.
Ash and co come out of hiding to see Team Rocket cheering at how big their new base will be. Ash notices Nincada and they call down to the Rockets, saying they won't get away. May has Silcoon make a rope down, and Ash tells Kosagi they have to slide down. Kosagi is a little scared, but Ash slides down with no problem. May begins to explain to Kosagi that he has to be assertive is he wants to get his Pokemon back, and after a few seconds of pep talking, he agrees.
Ash and the Rockets argue for a bit, when suddenly Kosagi comes crashing down on top of Team Rocket! Nincada flies up, and Pikachu uses iron tail to break the string leash. When Nincada lands, Kosagi has it use secret power, sending Team Rocket blasting off again.
Outside the cave, Kosagi thanks Ash and co for everything. Ash compliments him on the great Pokemon he is raising, and scans it with the dex. After some more talk about Kosagi wanting to challenge the gym leaders, he and Ash shake hands. May is happy to see they are friends, and the scene then rises into the sunset.

Beautifly and Dustox! The Final Evoultion!

Ash and co are now taking a rest on the beach with their good friend Professor Birch. They have just finished lunch and Birch compliments Brock on his cooking. Brock is flattered and Masato and May exclaim that he cooks meals like this for them all the time. Ash then interrupts, asking the professor if he would like to see some of the Pokemon he has captured. Birch accepts and Ash releases them all.
Treecko takes its twig and places it in its mouth. Birch is enticed by all of Ash's Pokemon. May doesn't want to be left out and shows off her Silcoon to Birch. He examines it, exclaiming that it'll become a Beautifly. May is excited by this. Brock then releases Lotad and Mudkip for him to see. Birch examines Lotad, wondering why it's just standing there. Brock nervously laughs, saying Lotad isn't the smartest. Mudkip walks up and places its paws into Lotad's lily pad.
Meanwhile, Jessie happily scrubs her Cascoon, exclaiming that she can't wait for her beautiful Beautifly to come. James and Meowth sigh and try to explain to her that Cascoon isn't right. James pulls out a card with a picture of a Silcoon on it and shows her, saying this is the Pokemon that turns into Beautifly, and it looks different from hers. Jessie looks at it, and then exclaims that her one is just special. James and Meowth go beady eyed, and sigh.
Ash and co approach a forest where Professor Birch says he would like to study some Pokemon. Masato becomes excited and rushes in to find some. He stops below a branch when a Seedot falls on to his head. It then lands on the ground and stares up at him. Ash and co catch up as two more Seedots falls down. Birch tells everyone what they are as Ash scans them with the dex. May and Masato crouch down to examine them, and Masato offers them some food. The Seedots just stare at him and Ash tries to put one back on the branch, but it just falls off again.
May wonders why the Pokemon are acting so strangely and Birch notices some fallen trees. He says that the Pokemon must think they are here to wreck the trees, making Masato sad. Birch tells him that if they show the Pokemon they are friendly, they'll have no problem with them. He tells Masato to rub one with a leaf, and he does so, causing the Seedot to happily jump up and down. The Professor smiles, knowing the Pokemon are convinced. The three Seedots then falls down and begin to roll back and forth. Birch falls down and begins to copy them, rolling back and forth. May wonders what he is doing and Brock suggests that the Seedots feel more comfortable when they interact with them in the same way.
Up on a cliff, Team Rocket watches this weird scene. Meowth says the Seedots would be a great addition to the boss's lineup, but James doesn't see why. Meowth has a vision of Giovanni doing his morning exercises alongside the Seedot, which entices Jessie and they decide to steal them.
The Professor continues to roll with the Seedot, when a smokescreen suddenly blocks their view. When the smoke clears, Team Rocket has come into view. Jessie demands that they hand over the Seedots, but naturally, the group refuses. Jessie calls out Seviper and Ash calls out Corphish. He has it use vice grip on Seviper.
Jessie becomes enraged and releases Cascoon. Birch recognizes it, saying its name out loud. Jessie hears this and says it isn't a Cascoon, it's a Silcoon. She and the Professor argue a bit while James and Meowth sigh. May then releases her Silcoon and Birch comments to Jessie that you can tell by the eyes that the two are different. Jessie still refuses to believe it and sends Cascoon in to attack. Silcoon lunges and both Pokemon smash into each other.
As soon as they hit, Silcoon begins to glow! May is shocked and Birch exclaims that it's evolving into Beautifly! The glowing stops and May lays eyes on her brand new Beautifly! Cascoon uses string shot, but Corphish blocks the attack. Corphish then uses crab hammer on Cascoon, sending it flying into the rockets, and then all of them into the forest.
Masato comments that the Seedots seem happy, and Beautifly then lands on May's head. Birch comments that she should do quite well in Pokemon Contests with such a beautiful Pokemon, and Ash agrees. Brock hands May some Pokemon food and says it is Beautifly's favorite. May thanks him and begins to feed her new Pokemon.
Masato then comments that he would like to see some attacks, and so May has Beautifly use whirlwind. Birch then searches his pack and pulls out a Frisbee. He hands it to May and informs her that a good practice is to have Beautifly hold up the Frisbee with its whirlwind. May throws the Frisbee, but Beautifly can't hold it up at first. She tries again, and this time it keeps it up. The Seedots hop up and down and Birch says they must want to play too.
Way down in the middle of a cliff, Team Rocket hangs from a branch. Jessie comments that if her "Silcoon" evolves into Beautifly, they can catch those Seedots and all of the twerps Pokemon. James and Meowth sigh. They begin to dread the day her Cascoon evolves. They both have a vision of her becoming enraged and hitting them on the head with a mallet thousands of times. Jessie then interrupts them with her loud mouth, exclaiming that they are going to make "Silcoon" evolve. Meowth asks how and she grabs him.
In the forest, Birch tries to put the Seedots back onto their branch, but they fall again. He exclaims that Seedots are easy prey on the ground, and he doesn't understand why they won't stay in the trees. Meanwhile, Meowth battles with Jessie's Cascoon. He lunges at it, but Jessie has it tackle him. James declares Cascoon the winner, but Jessie says it isn't Beautifly yet.
Jessie then pitches her Cascoon against James's Cacnea. After two tackles, Cascoon is the winner. Meowth says it won, but he calls it Cascoon, enraging Jessie. James then comments that Cascoon may not want to evolve, and Jessie eyes him. James realizes that he called it Cascoon and corrects himself. Jessie then tells them that they are not going to stop until her "Silcoon" is a Beautifly.
Ash and co finally find a branch where the Seedots will stay, but their success is interrupted when Team Rocket floats down in their balloon. Jessie sends in her Cascoon, knowing a battle against the twerps will give it a lot of experience. May has Beautifly use whirlwind, blowing it back. Jessie tells it to get back up and attack, and it does so. James releases Cacnea to help, but it just hugs him. Ash decides to release Treecko, and Cacnea uses pin missile. Treecko dodges.
Jessie has Cascoon tackle Beautifly, and this time it hits, but Beautifly blows it back again. Jessie tells it to try again, but it again is blown back. However, this time it begins to glow! Everyone is shocked and dramatic music plays as Jessie is getting her "Beautifly"! James and Meowth sulk, knowing their deaths are soon. As Cascoon finishes its evolution, James throws a tarp over it. Meowth then rushes in dressed like a Beautifly. Jessie gets mad and picks him up, asking what the heck he's doing. Meowth exclaims that Beautifly isn't ready yet, but she just chucks him out of the way.
She stomps up to James, who is blocking the tarp. She tells him to move, and when he refuses, she smashes him out of her way. She then removes the tarp to find...a Dustox. Jessie stares at if for a few minutes, trying to get it through her mind what the heck happened. Ash scans the Dustox with his dex, as Jessie goes through everything in her mind. She then begins to cry, making James and Meowth freak out. After a few seconds of almost exploding, Jessie screams out that she loves it!
James and Meowth are shocked as Jessie goes on about how strong and cooler it is than a Beautifly. She praises it for several minutes, confusing Ash hand co, and then she sends it in to battle. She asks James what attacks it has, and he reads off poison sting and tackle. Jessie has it tackle Beautifly. She then gloats at how powerful it is. May gets mad, saying that Beautifly is better as it's more beautiful and Dustox can't win contests. Jessie sighs, saying who needs contests when she has this much power. May gets mad and has Beautifly tackle Dustox.
Dustox then uses poison sting, but Beautifly whirlwinds it towards James and Meowth, who dodge. Cacnea then uses pin missile and Dustox releases a psybeam, but Ash has Treecko take the hits. He then recalls it and releases Corphish. Cacnea tries another attack, but Corphish takes the hit. Brock calls out Mudkip who water guns Cacnea into James. Beautifly then tackles Dustox into Jessie, and Corphish sends them blasting off with a crab hammer and a bubble.
With Team Rocket gone, Birch examines the ground and tells the others that this is the perfect area for the Seedots. They look up to see them happily swaying on the branch. Later that night, Ash and co wave goodbye to Birch. He wishes May luck in her Contests, and Ash for his badges. As he leaves, the scene shows May with her long awaited Beautifly.

Sableye the Startling!

Ash and co are once again spending a nice quiet day relaxing on the beach. May, Masato, and Ash crowd around Brock, who is preparing some sandwiches on a picnic table. The Pokemon are also crowded around staring hungrily at the food. Brock looks down at Corphish and asks if it would like to help him. Corphish nods happily and leaps onto the table. It grabs a vegetable and cuts it into slices in no time flat.
It continues to slice the vegetables around the table until it comes to the sandwiches. Ash and co call for it to stop, but it is too late. Corphish happily chops the sandwiches into little bits, making them look like mashed potatoes. Everyone sulks while Corphish jumps around. They sit down on the grass and all begin to eat, but find out that chopped sandwiches are not the best meal. Ash scolds Corphish, but it just happily jumps up and down. Masato comments that it always seems to mean well, but usually does wrong. Ash sighs and agrees.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket stumbles upon an old mine shaft. James checks the map and informs them that it used to be used for mining gold, but now it's abandoned. Jessie gets excited thinking about all the gold left in it. She has a daydream of herself sitting on a mountain of gold, and declares that they are going to check it out. James doesn't like this idea, as old mine shafts are usually very dangerous. Jessie replies that it's worth the risk and Meowth seems to agree. James is still reluctant, but Jessie informs him that with gold, they will never have to worry about money again. At this, James is convinced and they all happily cheer.
Inside the mine shaft, Team Rocket quietly walks along. They soon stumble upon a mining cart and Jessie motions them to get inside. The mining cart rolls along its track as Team Rocket looks around. Jessie is depressed that she hasn't found a single trace of gold yet, and James says it must be farther down the tunnel. Meowth replies that it is very dark and creepy, but Jessie tells him to put his fear of the dark behind him as they have gold to find. Wobbuffet then pops out, annoying Jessie.
As the cart moves on, Team Rocket notices 2 sparkling dots up ahead. They wonder what it is when suddenly; a toothy grin appears above the dots. The three freak out and Jessie screams for James to pull the break. He does so and Meowth flies out in front of the cart. The face then starts to move toward them, and Jessie screams for James to go backwards. He puts the cart in reverse and it speeds away, leaving Meowth behind. He gets up and freaks out; telling them to come back, but the cart is already gone. Meowth looks back to see the creature take shape. It lets out a scream that freaks Meowth out again. He rushes away, but trips and falls down stunned. The creature exits the shadows, revealing that it is actually a Sableye. It pokes Meowth, who doesn't budge. It then begins to wonder what it has just done.
Outside the mine shaft, Jessie and James peak out of their cart. James asks Jessie where Meowth is, and they both realized what happened. As they talk about how the creature must've gotten Meowth and he's a goner, Ash and co approach the mine. Jessie notices them and her, James, and Wobbuffet rush away.
Ash and co notice the mine and Ash says he wants to check it out. He rushes to the entrance and pushes a button, turning on a row of lights inside the tunnel. May and Brock approach, asking if he really plans to go in there. Ash says he does, and they wonder why. Ash then says that he wants to play a trick on Corphish just for fun. Brock, May, and Masato aren't to sure about this, but decide to go along with it. Ash begins to whisper his plan to them. Jessie and James watch from behind some rocks. Jessie informs James that this is the perfect opportunity to catch Pikachu. He asks why and she explains that the tunnel is dark, which will make it easy. James agrees and Wobbuffet pops out. It begins to say its name, but Jessie and James plug its mouth.
May and Masato enter the shaft first in one of the mine carts. Masato asks May what they are doing and she holds up a sheet, telling him to put it on. Meanwhile, Meowth wakes up to see Sableye peering over him. He freaks out, but realizes it's not going to hurt him. Meowth begins to talk with it, then notices they are in the mine's control room. He asks if it lives here and it nods its head. It then pulls on a rock and begins to eat it. Meowth says he is hungry and Sableye offers the rock to him. Thinking it's food, Meowth takes a bite, but hurts his teeth and cries out in pain. Sableye laughs hysterically, angering Meowth. He then looks up at the monitors to see May and Masato. Sableye looks up to and becomes excited. It explains to Meowth that it likes to trick people who enter the mine for fun, giving Meowth an idea. He decides to use Sableye to capture Ash and co's Pokemon for Jessie and James.
Ash walks along the mine shaft until he reaches the cart. May and Masato are behind it. He then releases Corphish and tells it they are going to do some training in the mines to prepare for his match. Corphish is a little confused, but decides to go along. May then makes a ghostly laugh, and Ash says something must be coming. May then tells Masato to put the sheet on, and he gets on her shoulders. They jump out pretending to be a ghost. Corphish freaks out as they approach it, and after some scary words from Ash, it becomes so freaked out that it tackles the ghost! May and Masato fall back into the mine cart. Corphish thinks the ghost is in the cart, so it tackles it, sending it flying down the track. It then rushes after it as Ash chases, trying to explain that it's a trick.
May and Masato lie in the cart, stunned at what Corphish did. May comments that it must be very gullible to believe that. Suddenly, Sableye appears on the back of their cart. It lets out a freaky laugh, scaring the siblings. The cart comes to a stop and Sableye leaps onto the ceiling. Masato recognizes it and May scans it with the Pokedex. Masato then comments that Sableye would make a great Pokemon; so May decides to try her luck.
She releases Torchic, who uses ember. Sableye dodges and jumps down, licking Torchic. May recalls it as Sableye laughs hysterically. Meowth then walks up, telling Sableye it did a good job. Masato asks what he's doing here, and Meowth says he and his new friend are playing tricks. He then presses a button and a net falls over May and Masato.
Outside, Ash and Corphish exit the mine. Ash explains to Brock about what happened, and then he realizes that May and Masato are still inside. Brock says they have to go find them, and Ash agrees. In the control room, May and Masato are hung up in a net. Meowth and Sableye then notice Ash and co in the tunnel on the monitor. Meowth asks Sableye if it's ready for more scaring, and it agrees. The two then leave. May wonders why Sableye is helping Meowth and Masato says it must only think they are doing this for fun.
Ash, Brock, and Corphish head down the shaft looking for May and Masato. Suddenly, the mine cart comes rolling back. Ash checks, but finds it empty. As he does, Sableye appears behind him and licks the back of his neck. It then rises up again, leaving Ash confused. He asks Pikachu if it did that, but it shakes its head. Sableye then appears behind Brock and does the same. It then lets out a laugh; scaring Ash and co. Meowth then appears behind Corphish and smacks it with a fan. Corphish looks around, but sees nothing. Corphish looks at Ash, very pissed off now. Ash wonders why it's mad, and it tackles him. Ash is shocked and Pikachu jumps to protect him, but Corphish knocks it away too.
May and Masato notice this on the monitor and know they have to do something. May releases Torchic, but it's still paralyzed from the lick. She asks if it can use ember, and it does, freeing them. She then recalls it for some rest.
Pikachu and Corphish duke it out, and Ash begs them to stop. Meowth then leaps up and fires a net, capturing both Pokemon. Ash tells them to let his Pokemon go, but Meowth just laughs. May and Masato then appear on another mine cart. May yells to Sableye, telling it not to help Meowth. It cocks its head and May explains that Meowth isn't doing this for fun. She explains that he belongs to Team Rocket and will turn it in to them when this is over. Meowth tries to deny it, and Sableye grabs its head, not knowing who to believe.
Suddenly, Jessie and James appear in another mine cart and say their motto. Jessie tells Meowth he did a great job, and grabs Pikachu and Corphish. Sableye glares at Meowth, knowing he tricked it. Meowth nervously laughs and leaps into Jessie and James's cart. The cart speeds away leaving Sableye pissed off. Ash releases Taillow and tells it to attack the rockets. It pecks at Jessie, angering her. She pulls out a smoke bomb and tosses it. James knows this isn't a great idea, but it's too late. The bomb explodes, sending their cart flying. The mine then begins to cave in, and Ash and co are worried. Sableye then jumps down and motions them all to follow. They do just as the ceiling comes crashing down.
Outside the mine shaft, Team Rocket looks at the fallen ceiling. They wonder how Ash and co could've survived. Meowth is worried about Sableye, as he still considers it his friend. Jessie and James try to convince themselves that it isn't their fault the twerps died, when Ash and co suddenly appear above the mines. Meowth is happy to see Sableye is safe, and Jessie and James are shocked that they are alive.
Ash then says that Sableye is with them now, confusing Jessie and James. Meowth explains that he sort of tricked Sableye, shocking Jessie and James. Sableye leaps off the hill and fury swipes the net, freeing Corphish and Pikachu. Ash then orders them to use crab hammer and iron tail, blowing the rockets back. Sableye then uses night shade, sending them blasting off again.
The evening, Ash and co thank Sableye for everything. Sableye nods and shakes hands with Corphish. They then notice the mine has caved in and wonder where Sableye will go. However, it doesn't seem to mind. It climbs up the hill and turns back, waving to them. Ash and co wave back as the sun sets, knowing they've made a new friend.

Meditite and the Battle Girl! In a Storm!

Ash and his Pokemon are once again on the beach practicing their dodge the wave technique. All of them have their eyes closed and backs to the wave. Ash tells Pikachu to get ready, and they all listen for the wave. Ash hears it and tells them to run. They do and dodge the wave just in time. All the Pokemon cheer, as they are getting the hang of it. Masato comments that they are doing awesome now, and May adds in that if Ash keeps this up, he could be ready for his rematch.
Brock signals the group, yelling that lunch is ready. They all sit down to eat. Suddenly, a giant wave comes with a girl on a surf board. She yells to Ash, and jumps ashore. Ash wonders what she is doing here and she asks if he is Ash. Ash says he is and she is ready to ask for a match when a giant wave crushes her. When it recedes, she shakily gets back up, exclaiming that she wants to battle Ash. Ash accepts and she introduces herself as Shinobu. She informs Ash that she trains with Brawly at the Dewford Gym, and wants some practice with him. She adds in that she's his top student, shocking everyone.
Ash informs her that he is eating now, but after they will battle, but she then insults him, making him accept her challenge now. Ash steps up and tells Pikachu to get ready. Shinobu pulls out a Pokeball, but her stomach growls and she falls down hungry. She tells Ash that she is starving, making him mad. He yells at her, exclaiming that she can't challenge him that drop out for hunger. His stomach then growls too and he laughs embarrassedly.
Brock tells Shinobu that she can help herself to some of their food. At this, she lunges to the table and begins to eat. Everyone is a little surprised, and May comments that Shinobu is a little energetic. Pikachu sighs and looks out to sea.
The scene then shifts to Meowth looking through the Magikarp sub telescope. His stomach is growling and he wants some of the food Ash and co are having. He then smells something and looks back to see Jessie and James enjoying a stew. He gets mad, asking why they didn't inform him they made food. Jessie says they forgot, but he can have some now. Meowth then cuts in, explaining that some new girl is hanging out with the twerps. Jessie and James tell him to go on, and he explains that while Ash and co eat, they can sneak up on them and nab Pikachu before they can even think. Jessie and James agree to it and Meowth adds in that they can steal the new girl's Pokemon too.
Back at the meal, Ash and Shinobu finish. They both thank Brock for his good cooking, and then remember the match. The two glare at each other and begin arguing. After some time, Brock interrupts, saying before they battle, they have to clean dishes. Ash and Shinobu continue to argue while washing dishes. After some time, they race to see who can get done first. May laughs, saying Ash has a new rival.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket is on the beach digging hole after hole. They gloat at all their traps, saying they can't go wrong. Meowth begins to blab when he falls in one, angering Jessie and James. In the forest, Brock starts to collect firewood. He then looks out to sea, noticing that it looks pretty bad. He turns to see a bunch of Pokemon running for cover and now knows a bad storm must be approaching.
On the beach, Ash and Shinobu finally start their match. Ash tells Pikachu to get ready. It looks out to sea, also noticing how bad the weather is, but it then takes a ready pose. Team Rocket watches from behind some rocks, eager to see what Pokemon the girl will use. Masato can't wait to see the match and May wonders what Pokemon Shinobu will use. Shinobu pulls out a Pokeball and releases Meditite. It takes a meditating pose as May scans it with the dex. The battle then begins.
Shinobu orders focus punch, but Pikachu dodges. She then tells it to use high jump kick, and Pikachu dodges this as well. Team Rocket is in awe of the Pokemon's immense power. Jessie starts to get mad, wanting the Pokemon to hit each other so they can be worn down. The Pokemon continue to dodge each others attacks, not one hit getting off. Suddenly, Brawly appears above them. He tells them to call off the match at once. After some talking, Shinobu recalls Meditite and Ash does the same.
Brawly leaps down to them, telling them this is no time for a match. Ash and Shinobu ask why and he tells them that a huge storm is heading this way. Brock recalls the clouds and declares this match a draw. Brawly informs the group that this storm has been reported as one of the worst ever, making May worried. She grabs Masato for security. Brawly then has the group follow him. Team Rocket listens in and decides to get back to the sub.
It is now raining heavily as the group wanders through the forest. Shinobu approaches some Seedot huddling together and tries to soothe them. Brock does the same with some Shroomish. Meanwhile, Team Rocket has made it to their sub, but the waves are so choppy that they are having trouble boarding it. Meowth makes it to the top, but find that the entrance fin is jammed! He tries desperately to open it, but a huge wave comes and sends them blasting off.
Ash and co are now traveling along a steep mountainside with the Seedots and Shroomish tagging along. May looks over the edge and freaks out, saying she doesn't want to go any further. Brawly tells her they have to press on, and Ash comments to be more like Shinobu, as she isn't scared. At this, Shinobu embarrassedly laughs, saying she is petrified. It is then revealed that Shinobu is actually a beginner at the Dewford Gym and only studies there; she doesn't actually train with Brawly yet. Shinobu becomes more embarrassed, but Brawly understands. He holds out his hand and she takes it. The group presses on when a rock suddenly gives way and comes crashing down. Brawly thinks fast and releases Hariyama. He has it use arm thrust, destroying the rock. A tree then falls down and Ash has Pikachu thunderbolt is away.
Team Rocket's sub then comes flying in and crashes into the mountain in front of them. Ash and co look up to see them dazed. The three fall to the ground and get on their knees; begging that they can come with them. Ash and co aren't to sure about this, but Brawly allows it. Team Rocket's eyes become all lovey-dovey and they thank him.
Brawly leads the group into a cave so they can wait out the storm. He starts a fire and everyone gathers around. Team Rocket sits in the opposite corner with a bunch of Pokemon. Shinobu also won't join the group. Ash calls her to join them, but she refuses. Brock asks Brawly why she is depressed and Brawly explains that Shinobu's a tough girl, and doesn't like to show her emotions. He explains to Ash and co how she is a great pupil, but sometime acts too tough. He ends by explaining that she wants to be his star pupil, but she still has a lot of training ahead of her. He then calls out to her, telling her to join them. She reluctantly does, warming her hands on the fire.
Brawly then begins to tell a story. The waves crash outside and Ash and co listen inventively. Team Rocket is huddled together, wishing they could be warm by the fire. At this, Brawly asks if they are cold. The three race towards the fire and begin warming themselves, thanking Brawly. Meowth is so happy that he doesn't realize his tail is on fire! When he does, he freaks out and runs around the cave. Ash sighs.
The next morning, Masato walks to the entrance of the cave and tells everyone it's all clear. Everyone wakes up stretching, and Brawly wonders where Team Rocket went. No sooner does he say that then the three appear. They demand Pikachu and say their motto. Ash refused, so Jessie calls out Seviper. James calls out Cacnea, who hugs him. Seviper uses poison tail and Cacnea uses pin missile, but Pikachu dodges both. Ash tells Pikachu to use thunderbolt. But Brawly says he wants to handle this. He releases Hariyama, who uses arm thrust, sending the rockets sky high.
Everyone cheers, and then Shinobu interrupts. She tells Ash that they never got to finish their match, and wants to know if he's up for it. Ash says he is, and the two take their sides of the field. Meditite starts off with focus punch, and Ash and Pikachu close their eyes. They use the dodge the wave technique to listen to Meditite, and Ash has Pikachu use agility as it approaches, Meditite dodges surprising Ash.
As Pikachu uses quick attack, Shinobu has Meditite use meditate. Just as Pikachu is about to hit it, it dodges. The two Pokemon turn back and Ash tells Pikachu to use quick attack again. It does, but slips and falls. Shinobu knows this is her chance and has Meditite attack. Ash tells Pikachu to close its eyes. He visions Meditite as the wave, and when it's about to hit, he tells Pikachu to dodge. Pikachu does, slipping Meditite up. Ash then uses this time to have Pikachu thunderbolt Meditite, taking it out! Brawly declares Pikachu the winner.
Brawly comments that Ash has gotten a lot better. Shinobu picks up her Meditite, telling it that it did great. She congratulates Ash, who thanks her. Brawly then approaches Shinobu. He informs her that she put up a tough fight, and he would like her to be his own personal pupil now. Shinobu is overjoyed, exclaiming that she'll work hard. She gets up and begins to kick the air. Everyone laughs.
Ash then informs Brawly that he is ready for his rematch. Brawly accepts and says they'll battle in his other arena. Ash is confused, and Brawly tells them to follow. They approach the edge of the ocean to see a large rock island not to far off. Brawly says that this is his own private arena and Ash wonders how they will get there. Brawly tells him not to worry and the water leading there pulls away, revealing a walking path. Ash makes a fist, telling himself he will win this time.

Dewford Gym Rematch! Surfing Battlefield!

The scene opens showing the waves wash aside, revealing the walkway to Brawly's arena. Everyone watches in amazement. Ash then makes a fist, telling himself he'll do well. The group begins to head across the walkway towards the rock island.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket is already inside. Weight lifting equipment litters the area, but Team Rocket has found something better. They drool over the refrigerator full of berries and assorted vegetables. The three begin to go on and on about how they hit the jackpot and Jessie says they must have good luck. The three remember beck to their last blast off, where Jessie used a parachute to save herself. Meowth used an umbrella and James clung to him. As they floated away, James became too heavy and he and Meowth plummeted through a hole in the rock island. Jessie also fell down on top of them. They then remember finding the fridge and opening it.
When the flashback stops, Meowth is dressed in a chef's outfit with vegetables all around him. He begins to explain that he is going to make a feast, but he notices Jessie and James are already chowing down. He becomes aggravated, exclaiming that they are eating all his ingredients. Jessie and James don't seem to care, so Meowth decides to try something. He picks up a can of tuna and bites down on it. Little does he know that cans aren't food, and he hurts his teeth. At this, he becomes mad and throws the tuna away.
The can rolls along the ground when it is picked up. Brawly holds it, wondering how it rolled over here. The group then looks up to see Team Rocket. They say their motto with full mouths, and Shinobu demands that they drop the food. Brawly asks how they got here and James remarks that Team Rocket always ends up in strange places. Jessie then says that this is the perfect time to get Pikachu, and she releases Seviper.
James calls out Cacnea and the fight begins. Seviper uses smog whilst Cacnea uses pin missile, but Ash and co just dodge. Ash then tells Pikachu to thunderbolt them, but Brawly stops him. He tells Ash to let him handle this, and he begins to talk with Team Rocket. Shinobu and Brawly keep the rockets occupied, then after some conversation, Brawly remarks that the hole they fell through was made by an underground geyser. Team Rocket realizes this too late, and are sent blasting off when the geyser erupts below them.
After the little mishap, Brawly leads the group past the weight lifting equipment, explaining that this is where he and his Pokemon get in some much needed training. Shinobu replies that she would like to train with Meditite here. The group then enters a large area, and Brawly shows Ash and co the battlefield. The group looks in awe at the large rock formation surrounded by a small mout. Masato informs Ash that Taillow would be a good choice in this match, but Ash says he knows what he's doing. Masato is a little worried, and May asks Brock if he can win, Brock says he has confidence in Ash,
Brawly and Ash take their sides of the battlefield. Brawly remembers Ash and his previous match and is eager to see how Ash has improved, but he still feels confident he'll win. Shinobu decides to ref, and announces the rules of the match before it begins. A wave envelopes Brawly and he surfs it, releasing Machop. Ash responds by releasing Treecko.
The battle begins with a karate chop from Machop, but Treecko waits for it and dodges with ease. Brawly remarks on how much Ash's Pokemon's evasiveness has improved. Ash tells Treecko to remember the wave training, and it dodges another karate chop with no sweat. Machop makes a fist, angry that is keeps missing. Brawly tells it not to give up, and it sends a barrage of karate chops at Treecko, but it manages to dodge every one! Brock now informs everyone that Ash's new strategy is to wear out Brawly's Pokemon. Machop is now gasping for breath, worn out from the many attacks that failed. Brawly orders a cross chop, but Machop stumbles, allowing Treecko to quick attack it, knocking it down. Everyone thinks its out, but Machop recovers! Ash is shocked, and Brawly exclaims that it'll take a lot to wear out his Pokemon, as Machop is now bulked up. Ash is worried.
Brawly orders Machop to use cross chop. It prepares for the attack as a small geyser erupts below it. Machop rides it, preparing to strike Treecko, but Ash recalls it before the attack can get off. Machop's attack shatters a rock where Treecko stood. Ash then calls out Corphish! It uses bubble, sending Machop back. Ash then tells it to finish off Machop with crab hammer, but it blocks the attack with karate chop. Ash thinks fast and orders another crab hammer, which strikes Machop, taking it out! Shinobu declares Corphish the winner and Brawly recalls Machop.
May knows the battle isn't over, and Brock adds in that Ash still has Hariyama to beat. Brawly rides another wave as he calls it out. He orders an arm thrust, and Ash has Corphish use harden. It does so and takes what Hariyama dishes out. Ash remarks that Corphish has to hold on a little longer. Brawly tells Hariyama to thrust harder, and it begins to knock Corphish back. Corphish holds on, but it seems to be weakening. After some time, Ash tells it to dive into the moat. It does so, and Brawly tells Hariyama to follow. It leaps onto a small platform in the water, and looks for Corphish.
Ash becomes overconfident, exclaiming that Corphish has the advantage now. May and Masato agree, but Brock notices Brawly isn't worried. Corphish watches Hariyama from behind, and leaps from the water and crab hammers it. Hariyama falls back as Corphish dives again. Hariyama then recovers and smashes the area Corphish dove in, creating a wave that exposes Corphish! Hariyama then takes this time to use seismic toss, smashing Corphish into the ground and taking it out!
Ash recalls it, and May remarks that Corphish couldn't cut it. Brock then adds in that Treecko is Ash's last choice. Ash pulls out Treecko's Pokeball, hoping it can beat Hariyama. He recalls the previous match and how Treecko never stood a chance. He then hopes that Treecko now has the dodging abilities. He calls it out. Treecko takes the field and places a twig in its mouth. It eyes Hariyama before the battle starts.
Hariyama makes the first move, trying to arm thrust Treecko, but it dodges. Ash tells Treecko to stay low and avoid Hariyama's arms. It uses slam on Hariyama's foot, then backs away. Hariyama tries to arm thrust Treecko again, but it leaps towards a rock and uses its tail to swing around it. Hariyama can't turn around in time, and Treecko slams its foot again. May wonders what Ash is planning, and Brock exclaims that Treecko only stands a chance if it stays low and away from Hariyama's powerful arms. May and Masato think Ash can do it, and they begin to cheer him on.
Treecko is now tiring, and Masato hopes it has enough strength left to dodge. Brawly notices this too, and tells Hariyama to attack again. It approaches Treecko, but trips allowing it to dodge. Brawly becomes aware that Hariyama's foot is injured from all the slams. Treecko is now breathing heavily and Masato is starting to worry. The field begins to rumble and Ash realizes that another geyser is approaching. Ash tells Treecko to stand over a hole and ride the geyser to attack. Brawly hears this and tells Hariyama to do the same. The two Pokemon eye each other as they await the geysers.
Brock knows that both trainers are taking huge risks here, and he watches eagerly. The geysers erupt and both Pokemon take to the air. The geysers push them right toward each other, and Hariyama leaps off to attack. Treecko does the same and both Pokemon meet in the middle, striking each other. The two then land on opposite sides of the field and eye each other. Everyone watches, wondering what will happen. After several seconds of silence, Hariyama falls! When the dust from its fall settles, Hariyama is unable to battle! Shinobu declares Treecko the winner and everyone cheers. Ash thanks Treecko and it nods.
Back on the mainland of Dewford Island, Ash is presented with the Knuckle Badge. Brawly informs Ash that it was a great match, and Ash has inspired him to train harder. Shinobu then winks at Ash, saying she learned a lot too. Brawly then adds in that Ash is a talented trainer, and he is sure to go far in the Hoenn League. Ash thanks him and does his famous badge pose. After many episodes, Ash has finally earned two badges, and he will now continue on towards his 3rd badge!

Abandoned Ship! The Creeping Shadow!

Ash and co are now traveling the seas in a small speed boat. Ash pulls out his badge case and admires his two Hoenn badges. Brock then checks the map and informs the group that the nearest city is Slateport, which contains a Pokemon Contest competition. Masato then checks the Pokenav and exclaims that a gym is in the next town past that. Ash steps up, exclaiming that he wants to head there as soon as possible, but May interrupts. She informs him that she wants to visit Slateport first so she can compete in the contest. Ash remembers and says that would be fine. May then pulls out Beautifly's Pokeball and exclaims that she should do well with it.
Jessie peeks out from the corner of the boat, laughing to herself as she watches the twerps. James and her then approach them wearing disguises. They give the group some lemonade then Jessie pulls out some electric Pokemon food for Pikachu. It happily eats it, but James then snatches it up in a bag. May exclaims that they aren't sailors and Jessie and James reveal themselves. They say their motto and Meowth and Wobbuffet surface next to the boat in the Magikarp sub.
As Jessie and James retreat, Ash releases Corphish. It slices the bag open and frees Pikachu. Jessie becomes angry and releases Seviper. It uses poison tail, but Corphish dodges and uses crab hammer. May then releases Beautifly, which whirlwinds the rockets into the sub. Finally, Pikachu sends them blasting off with thunderbolt.
Ash and co then enter the captain's quarters and try to start the boat back up. To their dismay, the boat's engines just whine, and won't start up. The group is saddened and sit down outside. Brock remarks that the weather looks bad, and the group begins to get hungry. Ash then notices a large shadow in the distance, and Masato recognizes it as a large ship. Their boat seems to be floating toward it, so the group decides to check it out.
The group jumps on some rocks surrounding the ship. Brock remarks that they can use some ropes hanging off the side to scale it. May jumps in pretending she's a reporter and gives a little insight on to herself on what she is about to do. After scaling the side of the ship, the group makes it to the deck. They walk around for a bit, and Brock exclaims that this ship is long abandoned. Ash checks the other side and finds a small fishing boat down below. Brock says someone else must be here.
May continues her reporting when a door opens and a teenage kid steps out of a nearby door. May notices this and does a picture frame with her hands, exclaiming that a mysterious man has just approached them. The man steps up and introduces himself as Hiromi. He asks what they are doing here and Brock explains that they floated in when their boat stalled. Hiromi understands, and he begins to explain to them why he is here.
He informs that that this ship used to be a great ocean liner, but it crashed into the rocks years ago and it's now abandoned. He then explains that he and his Marshtomp used to come here and train all the time, but he and it became separated a long time ago. He then says that he is now searching the ship high and low trying to find it. Ash takes out his Pokedex and looks up Marshtomp. Hiromi then offers to take the group back to shore, but he needs to search some more first. They thank him and he heads off.
Morning comes and the group waits on deck. Apparently, Hiromi gave them some food before leaving, as May is chowing down. Pikachu and Torchic happily eat some Pokemon food. Torchic then notices a nearby door swing open and a mysterious face glare at it. Torchic rushes inside to see what it is and is confronted by a huge creature! Torchic screams bloody murder, and Ash and co rush inside. May looks around, but Torchic is nowhere to be found. Hiromi approaches and asks what's wrong, and May explains that her Torchic is missing. Hiromi tells them they should start searching right away.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket has landed inside the ship after their blast off. They moan for a bit, and then decide to head off. As they leave, the mysterious creature watches from behind a cargo box. They continue down the hallway when Meowth spies an open doorway. He turns to go in, but some blue hands reach out and pull him in before he can turn. Jessie and James look back to see no Meowth and wonder what just happened.
Ash and co are now searching a large room of the building. Masato calls out for Torchic as he passes by a large hole in the floor with water inside. The creature leaps from the water and pulls him under before he can say boo. Everyone looks around to see Masato missing as well. May begins to worry. Masato wakes up to see a sad Torchic next to him. He then sees Meowth next to Torchic and then realizes they are hanging above ground!
The group presses on as May wonders where Masato has gone too. They notice a door shaking up ahead and begin to freak out. The door then opens and a Marill and two Azurill happily bounce by. Everyone sighs and Hiromi explains that water Pokemon love to explore the ship.
Meanwhile, Masato tries to break the string holding them up. Meowth tells him to forget it as they already tried. The two begin to argue when Masato gets an idea. He tells Meowth to use his feet claws to cut his string. Meowth is a little hesitant, but he begins to swing toward Masato. After some time, he strikes the string and frees him. Masato happily gets up and starts to untie Torchic. Meowth gets mad, saying he freed him so he goes first.
A Spinarak then approaches and Meowth points it out. Masato wonders what it is doing here, when it string shots him. Masato then finds himself back where he was. Meowth laughs, exclaiming that his plan worked well. He then begins to swing into Torchic, who swings into Masato. Masato does the same and Torchic swings into Meowth. The then two continue to use Torchic to batter each other.
Jessie and James walk down one of the eerie hallways. They approach a box that is shaking and freak out. The box pops open and a Golduck jumps out. It waddles away and Jessie yells at it. She then turns back and walks down the hall. James begins to follow, but is pulled back by some blue hands. He tries to call out for Jessie, but she has turned the corner. James now finds himself next to Masato. Meowth laughs at James, who yells at them. He then tells Meowth to get him down. Meowth laughs and begins to swing toward him, but Masato says that won't work. He then swings into James and the group all collides with Torchic in the middle.
Ash and co walk down a corridor when May is suddenly pulled underwater. The group looks over and Brock releases Mudkip. It surfaces seconds later and tells them that she's not underwater. Ash and co wonder what to do. May is now tied up next to James. The rockets begin to tease her and she says they didn't fare to well themselves. Meowth and James then begin to laugh, saying they can't wait till Jessie is caught.
Jessie tiredly walks down a hallway. A noise is heard in front of her and she freaks out, but a Wooper just happily walks by. She yells at it, exclaiming not to scare her like that. As she collects herself, the mysterious creature appears behind her. She screams as she is pulled into the darkness. Jessie now finds herself being mocked by James, Meowth, May, and Masato. She becomes annoyed and slams into them. Meowth flies to the side and comes back, smashing them the other way. The group begins to swing into each other again, as Wobbuffet pops out. It is then tied upside down next to Jessie as she exclaims that it isn't good for anything.
Ash and co continue their search for the others when a blue hand emerges from some water. Pikachu notices this and thunderbolts it. Ash and co turn to see something leap from the water. It lands next to them and Brock notices it as a Swampert. Ash scans it with the dex and knows that this must be the creature that took the others. Hiromi then recognizes it as his Marshtomp! It angrily glares at him, then turns and rushes down the hall. The group gives chase, but it leaps into a pool of water and disappears.
Brock has Mudkip follow it, and the three jump in too. After some swimming they emerge at another hallway. Mudkip notices an open door and they rush in to see Swampert. Above it are the others all tied up. May tells them to get her down, and Team Rocket begs they do the same for them. Brock motions Mudkip to get ready as Swampert and Spinarak glare at them. Swampert uses mud shot, but the group just stands their ground.
Ash decides to release Corphish. It uses crab hammer, but Swampert dodges and iron tails it away for a 1 hit KO. Ash tells Pikachu to attack, but Hiromi stops him. He explains that this Swampert is actually his Marshtomp! The group backs away and Hiromi steps up to it. He explains to it that he is its trainer, but it just uses mud shot on him. He stands his ground and continues to explain to it how he accidentally dropped its Pokeball here and searched forever to find it. Swampert just roars and Mudkip steps up. Hiromi tells it to remember when it was a Mudkip like this one, and how they were inseparable. Swampert still glares at him.
Swampert then has a flashback of it as a Mudkip and Hiromi as a child. It hits some cans with water gun and Hiromi congratulates it. It happily looks up at him, and then evolves into Marshtomp! The scene comes back to Hiromi who continues to beg with Swampert. He reminds it that he taught it iron tail, and Swampert has a flashback to it as a Marshtomp. Hiromi teaches it to use iron tail and it smashes a nearby rock. The two then hug and the scene returns. Swampert's expression changes and it walks up to Hiromi. He hugs it and says he is so glad to have it back.
Brock says it remembers and Ash agrees. The others are then freed and May hugs Torchic. Masato approaches Hiromi and congratulates him on getting Swampert back. Team Rocket does some stretches, then decides to take this time to catch Pikachu and Swampert. Jessie releases Seviper and has it use poison tail, but Swampert just swats it away. It then uses hydro pump, sending the rockets blasting off again.
On the deck of the ship, Ash and co talk with Hiromi. He informs him that he learned a lot today, and he will never loose a Pokemon again. He then looks up at some Wingull and explains that there is so much to the world of Pokemon. Ash and co agree and Hiromi says he plans to keep training for the Hoenn League. Ash admires him and Hiromi offers to give them a ride to Slateport. The boat heads out and Hiromi points out Slateport in the distance. May can't wait to compete in her first contest and Ash is now one step closer to his next Hoenn Badge.

Hoso 1

Brock! Save Pewter Gym!

Brock stands on the same rock as Ash did long ago overlooking Pewter City. He comments that it is good to be home, and he is interrupted by a man asking if he would like to by some Pewter City souvenirs, which are just rocks. He starts to give the same speech he gave to Ash, but Brock just interrupts, knowing it’s his father Flint. Flint collapses and Brock begins to yell at him. He jumps down and asks Flint why he is still selling rocks and not running the gym while removing the hat and beard disguise his father is wearing. Flint gets up and explains that the gym was running fine for awhile. He had the most mouth-dropping rock field set up. He then explains that it all changed when he met a new girl, Misuho.
Flint takes Brock to the gym. Brock is annoyed and shocked to find the gym is surrounded in flowers and other shrubbery. Brock asks if this is Misuho’s doing and Flint says it is. Brock notices the closed sign on the door and Flint explains she changed the place so much he couldn’t even bare to keep it open any longer.
Flint then takes Brock to their house behind the gym. He opens the door t find two of his brothers playing ball in the hall. They notice him and are glad he is back. The older one calls to the rest of his siblings, and soon all of Brock’s brothers and sisters are present. Brock then notices a woman fiddling with a painting on the wall. She plays with it some more then thinks it’s perfect. She turns around and asks Brock and the kids if they like it, but Brock is just a little annoyed. She excitedly explains how much she loves decorating, but Brock doesn’t seem to like this. Flint nervously appears behind Brock and Misuho asks him if he likes the painting. Brock whispers to his father that this isn’t too bad of a change, and Flint replies that he will freak when he sees the gym.
Flint shows him into the gym and Brock freaks out. The whole gym is covered in pink confetti and graffiti, and the rock field is flooded with water! Flint weakly says he told him so and Misuho asks if Brock likes it. Brock goes insane with rage and tells her she turned an official gym into a laughing stock. Suddenly, many water Pokemon burst from the water and Misuho exclaims that she loves water Pokemon and thinks they are much better then rock types. She rushes onto a rock and begins to wave to them all. Brock is now very ticked off and asks his father how he let this happen. Flint weakly replies that he fell in love with Misuho and couldn’t say no. (Sounds like someone else we know ¬¬.)
Misuho is now on the other side of the gym and Flint is on the opposite. Brock tells Misuho that she and Flint will battle to determine the fate of the gym’s appearance, but Misuho happily says she doesn’t want to battle her beloved. Up on the catwalk, Brock’s siblings look down. The eldest, Jiroo, says Brock doesn’t seem to like Misuho. Brock gets angry and says she will or the gym is going back to the way it was, and she happily says she could have a tiny match. Jiroo doesn’t think this is a good idea, as his father uses rock types while Misuho uses Water, which can cream rock types. Flint agrees and doesn’t want to battle, but Brock screams at him, saying he will battle and win so he can turn the gym back to normal. He then explains that if he learned one major thing while traveling with Ash, it was that Pokemon type doesn’t always determine the outcome of a match, as Pikachu beat many ground types and even his own. He then says it’ll be a 1 on 1 match.
Misuho pulls out a Pokeball and releases a Marril. Flint calls out a Golem. It lands on a small rock and struggles to keep its balance so it won’t fall into the water. Jiroo thinks this match is over before it will even begin. The match starts and Misuho begins by telling Flint to go easy on her, as she’s his beloved. He stops for a second, then says he has to win for the gym’s sake. He tells the kids to watch him win and has Golem use earthquake. The water rumbles and Brock’s siblings look on as the water begins to get very choppy. Marril tries to stay on a rock, but it is swept into the water and driven back by a wave. Jiroo says Flint could win after all and Misuho blocks as the wave crashes by her. Flint thinks he has won, but Misuho informs Marril to ride the wave with surf. Marril does so and the wave heads straight for Golem. With nowhere to go, it is struck and sinks below the surface. It tries to hold its breath, but can’t. Misuho is frightened and tells her Blastoise to go and retrieve it and it leaps into the water. Jiroo is depressed that it was a massacre.
Blastoise and Marril are now giving CPR to Golem and getting all the water out of its mouth. Flint is on his knees ashamed with his loss. Brock then dries Golem off with a blow dryer while Jiroo watches. Brock explains to him the importance of keeping rock types dry. He also explains that as a breeder, he is very good at making sure Pokemon are in prime health, and Jiroo seems interested.
Flint begins to walk out of the gym, saddened by his loss. He tells Misuho that she won and he’ll go now, but she tells him to stay. She begins to do a little flirting and saying she loves him, and he rushes to her. They hold hands and stare into each other’s eyes, but are interrupted when Brock says that his siblings are hungry and they should stop this little flirt and make dinner.
Brock prepares some food and his brothers and sisters help. In the gym, Flint and Misuho talk for awhile. They talk about Pokemon, then get on the subject of their love for each other, and again fall in love and hold hands. At dinner, Brock and his siblings awkwardly watch Flint and Misuho at the end of the table feeding each other like newlyweds. Misuho exclaims that Brock’s food is delicious, but Brock just snuffs her off. Her and Flint begin to flirt again, but Brock can’t handle it anymore. He explodes and tells them to stop. Misuho and Flint look at him then Misuho explains that he should be happy, as her and Flint have decided to change the gym to a water type gym. Brock freaks out and stares at them, when Jiroo suddenly stands up. He exclaims that his brother worked hard to make this a great rock type gym and they aren’t going to change it. He gets mad and rushes from the room. Brock’s sister explains that he is taking this a little hard, so Brock goes to see what’s wrong.
He finds Jiroo at the edge of a lake looking up at the moon. Brock jumps down and asks what’s wrong. Jiroo says that he doesn’t want the gym to change. Brock agrees and explains that he loves rock types. Jiroo then tells him that it is his dream to follow in his brother’s footsteps and be a great rock type gym leader. Brock is flattered and says it’s like his dream of wanting to become a great breeder. Jiroo says it may not happen now that his father and Misuho are changing the gym, but Brock says he won’t let that happen. Jiroo hopes so and lies down while looking at the moon. He begins to imagine how great it would be to be a great rock type gym leader, and Brock rubs his hair. Jiroo then leans back up and says they can’t let Misuho change the gym. Brock agrees and he stands up and puts his fist out, exclaiming that it’s time he saved the Pewter Gym!
The next morning, Brock finds Flint and Misuho at the front of the gym. He asks what they’re doing and they show him the new banner for the gym, which says Pewter Gym with a wave splashing under it. Brock freaks out and says the gym is not changing, causing the banner to crack. Flint gets mad, but Brock says he doesn’t want them to change what type the gym is. He says he knows now the only way he can prove to them that he wants it to stay the same is to defeat Misuho in a Pokemon battle. Flint doesn’t like the way his son is acting, but Misuho decides to accept the challenge. Jiroo watches from behind the gym.
In the gym, Flint says it’ll be a 1 on 1 match. Brock calls out Onix and Misuho calls out a Mantine. Jiroo feels confident his brother can put up a great match. Misuho wishes Brock luck and he does the same. Brock looks at Jiroo and tells him not to worry. He tells Onix to use dig and it crashes under the water. The water begins to drain into the hole and soon there is no water left in the gym. Mantine flops around like a fish out of water and Misuho is worried. Brock then orders Onix to come out and it smashes up, sending Mantine flying. Misuho tells it to use bubble beam, and it glides back down and strikes Onix with a bubble. Brock orders a wrap and it grabs Mantine and squishes it hard. Misuho is worried and Jiroo tells his other brother that Brock is doing well for the type disadvantage.
Misuho tells Mantine to use bubble beam, and it strikes Onix. Brock tells it to release Mantine and it chucks it into the air. Jiroo thinks Brock may have a tough time now. Misuho orders another bubble beam and it strikes Onix hard. Brock thinks fast and tells Onix to attack, and it smashes Mantine with its tail. It flies through the air and crashes onto the ground unable to battle.
Flint declares Brock the winner and Jiroo and his brothers and sisters cheer. Onix breathes heavily and Brock thanks it. Misuho recalls Mantine and says it did a great job. She then informs Brock that she realizes that rock types are great too and will allow the gym to remain that type. Flint walks up and thanks her and they begin to flirt, making Brock feel uneasy. Jiroo walks up and congratulates Brock, and Brock says he will get his dream now. Brock then looks up at Onix and says he’ll be staying with Jiroo for awhile, and it agrees. Jiroo is confused and Brock tells him that if he wants to be the new gym leader he’ll need some Pokemon. He releases Geodude and Crobat and tells them they’ll be staying with Jiroo also and they agree. Jiroo doesn’t know how to thank him, but Brock says that with his Pokemon, he can be a worthy and great gym leader. Jiroo agrees and asks about Flint, but Brock says he’s more interested in Misuho. He adds in that Jiroo is going to have to take care of them now.
Outside the gym, Brock is now in his new Hoenn clothing. He tells his family that he plans to head off to Hoenn now to find his friends. Misuho congratulates him on his great batting and Brock now accepts her as family. She asks if how he plans to be a Pokemon Master if he gave all his Pokemon to Jiroo, and Brock releases Forretress. He says Forretress and him should make it ok and he then recalls it. Jiroo walks up and thanks Brock again. He then says he’ll do his best to take care of his Pokemon, and Brock says he’ll do fine. He then adds in the fact that he has to take care of the family now, and Jiroo laughs. Brock then waves goodbye to his family again, and heads off down the road for a new adventure in the Hoenn region.

Hoso 3: Tough Battle! Team Rocket Enters!

The episode begins with a weird scientist shadowed in the window. He is in a large lab on top of a hill. He grins, exclaiming that it is now time to test out his invention. He activates a switch and a robot down below starts up. It begins to roll towards a small town up ahead. A villager on a lookout tower notices this, and informs everyone that it's time to protect the crops. The men rally and have a little pep talk, then throw up their pitchforks and rush to protect their crops. A woman rushes outside, telling them to be safe. She places her hands together, praying they won't be hurt.
Up above, something twinkles in the sky. It turns out to be Team Rocket. They ironically land right outside the village from a recent blast off. They land with a thud in hard rock and Jessie sighs. She says they have to stop making such hard landings and James agrees. Meowth collapses, saying they shouldn't blast off at all anymore.
Suddenly, the village men rush toward them waving their pitchforks. Team Rocket jumps up, ready for a fight. The woman from the village cuts in front, exclaiming that her prayers have been answered. Team Rocket is confused, and she notices their outfits. She exclaims that they must be heroes sent from the heavens to help them in this time on need. Team Rocket tries to explain to her by saying their motto, but she just turns to the villagers and exclaims that they are going to help them fight the robot! Team Rocket sighs and turns to see it heading their way.
Jessie remarks that it looks a lot like one of their inventions. Meowth says it looks like a battery, and James is shocked. Jessie then says that this is the perfect time to gain support from Hoenn people. James agrees and they decide to help out. They release Arbok and Weezing. James orders Weezing to use smokescreen, but it doesn't seem to stop the robot. Jessie has Arbok poison sting it, but it still comes.
Jessie and James decide to run away, and Meowth follows, but trips. He looks back to see the robot closing in on him. He sees the giant blades that it has and prepares to be cut up, but the robot suddenly stops! A section opens up and a watering can comes out. It begins to water a flower right next to Meowth. Meowth stares awkwardly at it, and then explains that this is their chance. The rockets agree and they leap at the robot, knocking it down.
The robot short circuits and Team Rocket takes a breather. Jessie then remarks that they should be hearing the loud cheers and many thanks from the villagers. They turn to see them. They villagers lightly call out, thanking Arbok and Weezing. Jessie, James, and Meowth collapse.
At the village church, Team Rocket is presented with a banquet. They watch a projection of a reenactment of what happened, except Jessie and James look different and are surrounded by bad people instead of a robot. James whispers to Jessie about the villagers finding out they aren't heroes, but Jessie says to just keep the act up. The woman from before steps up and asks for their names. Jessie and James tell her, and she introduces herself as Itsumu. She thanks them again, and James blushes.
Jessie then asks where the robot came from, and Itsumu explains that years ago, a weird scientist moved into the mansion on top of the hill. She then goes on to explain that each year, he sends the robot to destroy their crops. Jessie then says that they'll take care of this scientist. Itsumu thanks her and Meowth asks Jessie why she wants to get involved. Jessie whispers to them, explaining that Team Rocket will be well known if they take out a mad scientist, and then they can always turn on the village, making them look evil and powerful. The other two agree, and they tell Itsumu they'll be happy to help.
The next day, Team Rocket speeds toward the mansion in a robot just like the scientist's, but this one has Meowth's face on it. Meowth begins to yell out, and Jessie says all this hero stuff is going to his head. The villagers follow the robot up. James watches Itsumu on a screen, and she wishes him luck. He then becomes determined, saying he'll take this scientist out.
The monitor suddenly shows they have made it to the mansion, and they stop the robot. The villagers hide in the trees and watch. The mansion doors open and a giant humanoid robot leaps out. It towers over Team Rocket's robot, and they begin to have second thoughts. The weird scientist sits in the entrance. He presses a button and the robot's chest opens up. A large ramp comes down and several small robots exit bearing flowers. The robots say welcome over and over again, and Meowth wonders why the scientist would welcome them. Jessie says it must be a trick, and she orders Meowth to smash the robots.
Meowth presses a button and one of the robot's hands smashes a welcome bot. The hands then go ballistic, crushing welcome bot after bot. Meowth then presses another button, and their bot tackles the humanoid bot. The bot gets up and rushes back inside the mansion. Team Rocket follows and the doors slam behind them. Outside, Itsumu wishes them luck.
Inside, Team Rocket glares at the humanoid robot. They prepare to destroy it when Jessie notices the scientist in another doorway. He leaps out, telling them not to hurt his creations. Team Rocket is now very confused. They jump out of their robot to find many bots in this room. The scientists begs them not to hurt him, and they tell him to calm down. He explains to them that he is just a simple robotic scientist and he doesn't wish to harm them. James asks him about the robot he released before, and he explains that he likes to release his creations to test them, but he doesn't mean for it to destroy the villagers' crops. Team Rocket turns back to their robot and Jessie says they can exit the mansion and say they took care of everything. James agrees, as they will be heroes.
The villagers wait outside wondering how Team Rocket is faring. The doors open and Team Rocket tells the villagers that they won't be bothered anymore. They then open the front of the robot to reveal the scientist. He apologizes to the villagers, who don't accept. After some convincing from Team Rocket, they then understand.
Suddenly, a flock of Taillow flies by. The villagers begin to worry, exclaiming that if they make it to the village; they'll eat all their crops. Itsumu begs Team Rocket to stop them, and James begins to have second thoughts about this. Meowth and Jessie are also getting tired of the hero business, but Itsumu begs again, and they decide to help. The robot speeds out of the mansion while the villagers cheer. Meowth locks onto the flock and releases a net to snag them all. Jessie cheers, but the net soon breaks and the Taillow flock attacks their robot. Meowth screams that they give in, and the Taillow flock continues toward the crops. The villagers begin to worry.
The scientist then says he has a robot that might be able to stop them, and he presses a button. The roof of the mansion opens up, revealing a flying robot. A ramp launches it up and it attaches itself to the Meowth bot. Team Rocket is confused, and suddenly realize they are flying! The robot flies toward the flock, which turn and begin to peck at it again. Jessie and James are out of ideas, but the scientist shows up on the monitor. He says he built this flying bot with a built in vacuum, and he activates it. The vacuum sucks up all the Taillow into a small bag.
The robot stops in front of the villagers, and the scientist tells them he stopped the Taillow. He again apologizes for what happened, and the villagers forgive him. Inside the bot, Jessie goes over how she'll respond to the praising. She and Meowth then notice James down below talking to Itsumu. He tells her that he has to go, and he was never really a hero. She says he was, and then rushes off.
James returns to the bot and tells Jessie and Meowth that they should maybe stay here and protect the village. Meowth and Jessie start to agree, when James suddenly hits a button. The bot flies high into the sky. James gets angry, asking why Meowth put a button like this on it. The three fiddle with the steering wheel, but it breaks, and they are sent blasting off again.
The villagers look on confused. The scientist smiles, saying though they may be gone, they won't forget them. Itsumu agrees. Team Rocket lands somewhere in Petalburg woods. They land on the branch of a tree and begin to sulk. They then notice Ash and co below and James remarks that they've been so preoccupied that they forgot their real mission. Meowth agrees and says it's time to catch Pikachu. They all cheer and Wobbuffet pops out, breaking the branch they were on. The rockets then happily chase after Ash and co.

Epic Battle at Oak's Lab

It's another beautiful day at Oak's lab. A black helicopter flies by, awakening Noctowl. It looks up at it from a branch as Snorlax continues to sleep below. Professor Oak is busily doing some research on his computer and Tracy offers to do the morning feeding. He and Bayleef bring the food to the Pokemon, who gather around and begin to eat. Tracy comments that Ash says hi to all his Pokemon and they cheer up.
Meanwhile, the black helicopter lands in the forest just outside the lab. A giant red R is on the front of it, revealing that Team Rocket is involved. Two agents cover up the helicopter with a tarp, then head to the lab. They turn out to be Butch and Cassidy, who are spying on the lab with binoculars. Cassidy remarks that Oak has lab full of Pokeballs kept here, and they would be perfect for Team Rocket. They begin to imagine thousands of Pokeballs littering the base, and become excited.
The two continue to spy, knowing that this is a great time to act. They know Oak is too into his work, and Tracy is busy feeding the Pokemon, so they head off. Meanwhile, Tracy and Bayleef head back with empty cans of food. The doorbell rings and Tracy answers it to find a Magikarp being shoved in his face.
The same Magikarp salesman that swindles James appears. He begins his usual Magikarp speech to Tracy, but he doesn't buy into it. Oak approaches and asks who is at the door. Tracy tells him and Oak becomes aggravated, saying Pokemon should not be sold. The salesman gets frightened and grabs his Magikarp. He rushes off as fast as he can. Oak sighs, exclaiming that people need to learn Pokemon are not for profit.
The doorbell rings again and Tracy becomes aggravated. He opens the door, exclaiming that they aren't interested. He then notices Ms. Ketchum and Mr. Mime at the door. He laughs embarrassedly. She seems a little saddened, asking Tracy why he doesn't want the picnic she prepared. Tracy explains what happened, and she forgives him. She walks inside and Oak greets her.
Meanwhile, Bulbasaur is doing its morning runs. It notices some grass Pokemon walk by, then it notices a weird Nidoqueen and Golem. They walk by, leaving Bulbasaur confused. It turns out that these Pokemon are actually Butch and Cassidy in disguise. Cassidy laughs, exclaiming that these costumes are perfect. Bulbasaur shrugs then walks off.
Totodile dances around as the two pass it by. It notices them and happily follows. It then water guns both of them in the face, and Butch becomes aggravated. He kicks the dancing 'dile away, which angers Totodile. It goes to water gun him, but Butch pulls out a concave lens, which reflects the attack right back. Totodile is knocked into the bushes as the rockets press on.
Cassidy and Butch take off their masks to get some air. They spray water on themselves, exclaiming that it's hot in these costumes. An Oddish notices this and rushes to Bulbasaur. It explains to it what it saw and leads Bulbasaur to where it saw them. When they get their, the rockets are nowhere in sight. Meanwhile, the disguised rockets continue on. Cassidy accidentally steps on Ash's sleeping Cyndaquil. It gets aggravated and flairs up, but Butch just douses it with a fire extinguisher. Bulbasaur and Oddish approach to see Cyndaquil doused, and Bulbasaur becomes angry.
Oak and Ms. Ketchum talk about Ash and his friends when Bulbasaur knocks on the window. Ms. Ketchum alerts Oak of this, and he informs her to tell it that he's busy right now. Delia opens the window and tells Bulbasaur this, and it becomes sad. Bulbasaur then wakes up Noctowl and tells it to fly around and search for the weird Pokemon. It does so, and then Bulbasaur heads to Tracy. It tries to explain to Tracy, but he doesn't seem to believe it. Bulbasaur then grabs him with its vines and drags him off.
Meanwhile, Butch and Cassidy have reached the lab. Noctowl flies above and uses foresight to see through the costumes. It then flies off to find the others. The rockets remove their costumes and use a suction pad to pop out the window. They leap inside and notice the coast is clear. They begin to laugh, exclaiming that this is too easy. They then shut up, knowing they have to be quiet.
Noctowl finds Bulbasaur and co and flies down to warn them. Tracy understands, and the group follows it. Delia and Oak continue their conversation as the rockets listen in. They then close the door and head towards the Pokeball lab. Inside, they become excited at how many Pokeballs there are. They then begin to snatch them.
Outside, Tracy and co find the broken window. He rushes inside and informs Oak that there are trespassers in the lab. They search the rooms and soon find the Pokeball lab empty! The group begins to think who could've done this, and Tracy suggests that Jessie and James did. Oak mentions that Ash said something about them following him to Hoenn, so they exit the lab to look for the perpetrators. Outside, Tracy tells the Pokemon to go look and inform all the others what happened.
The Pokemon begin to spread the word, each one passing it on to the next. The commotion eventually wakes Snorlax up. Delia asks Mr. Mime if it found anything, but it shakes its head. Oak says they can't get far with all the Pokemon looking, and Delia hopes he's right.
Meanwhile, Butch and Cassidy have put their costumes back on and now push a cart that is disguised as a Muk. They gloat at their catch when a Nidoking pops out of the bushes. It spies Cassidy's Nidoqueen disguise, making her nervous. They walk by and it begins to follow them. It then grabs Cassidy and begins to hug her. She pushes it off, saying it's not her type, but it just hugs her again. She rushes away and it follows. She then begins to kick it, which aggravates it. It picks her up and tosses her far away. She lands wit a thud and slowly gets up. Butch appears with the cart seconds later and asks if she's all right.
Suddenly, Muk appears! It seems to like the Muk cart, angering Butch. He tries to push it off, but ends up being smothered under it. Noctowl continues its search and spies a huge tarp. It uses foresight to see the Team Rocket helicopter, and it flies to Tracy, informing him of this. The group heads towards it.
Muk now has both rockets under him and won't let them go. Totodile approaches and sees Butch. It remembers what happened last time and wants to water gun him again. Butch deflects it again, but Totodile dodges and water guns him into a tree. Cassidy then takes this time to run, and the two of them rush away with the cart full of Pokeballs. Totodile and Muk look on confused. Totodile dances a bit, and then runs off as well.
Tracy and co have made it to the helicopter, and Bulbasaur removes the tarp with its vines. Meanwhile, Totodile informs Delia and Oak of what it saw. All the Pokemon are now heading toward the copter. Butch ad Cassidy are running like heck, not caring that their masks have come off. They find their helicopter, only to see Tracy and the Pokemon in their way. They then look back to see Oak, Delia, and the rest of the Pokemon behind them. Tracy tells them to give up, but they refuse.
The two rockets say their motto, and Tracy remembers them from the Orange Islands. He remarks that they are the equivalent of Jessie and James, angering Butch. Oak tells them to hand over the Pokeballs and go, but they won't have it. The two release Hitmontop and Houndour. Oak doesn't get why they would fight, as they are greatly outnumbered. Tracy then calls out Scyther and Delia sends in Mr. Mime.
The battle begins with an ember from Houndour. Mr. Mime creates a wall and blocks the attack. Hitmontop tries to break it, but it just bounces off. Oak then tells Bulbasaur to use vine whip, and it smacks Houndour. Scyther then uses slash on Hitmontop. Houndour leaps for Mr. Mime, but Delia has it use double slap. Tracy remarks that Ms. Ketchum can really battle, and she laughs.
Butch tells Hitmontop to use rolling kick, but Bulbasaur spins it towards them with vine whip. Scyther then takes it out with slash. Oak then orders Cyndaquil to burn them with flamethrower, and Bulbasaur then solar beams them. Oak remarks on how well Ash has trained his Pokemon. He then has Totodile send Butch and Cassidy blasting off with a water gun.
The Pokeball cart is left behind and all the Pokemon cheer. Oak thanks them all for helping to get the Pokeballs back, and they all enjoy a good laugh. Soon, the Pokeballs are returned to the lab and everything goes back to normal. Bulbasaur walks out to do its morning runs, and smiles as the episode ends.

Misty! Get the Cascade Badge!


The special begins with Misty on a ladder overlooking the aquarium. She tosses some Pokemon food in and Horsea happily eats it. Misty smiles and asks if it's good, and Horsea nods its head. Misty laughs and looks at Togepi. She then moves on and feeds a Seel as Psyduck wanders around the edge of the pool. It falls in and freaks out, making Misty come to its aid. She pulls it out and lays it down, exclaiming that it needs to learn to swim.
A voice is suddenly heard outside and Misty approaches to find Tracy. Misty is overjoyed and asks why he's here. Tracy informs her that Oak told him to come to help and study the water Pokemon. Misty laughs, saying he can start with Psyduck.
The three take to the pool and Tracy starts to show Psyduck the basic swim techniques, but it doesn't seem to get it. Misty leans down and grabs Psyduck to make it do what Tracy does. Tracy then gets in the pool and tells Psyduck to jump in. At this, Psyduck freaks out and rushes away frantically. Misty sighs and brings it back to the pool. After awhile, they decide to give it an inner tube. It happily swims around and Tracy decides to teach it how to breathe underwater. He places his face in and out and tells Psyduck to do the same. After some shoving from Misty, its face enters the water. It again freaks out and rushes off as Misty and Tracy give chase.
Meanwhile, none other then Sakura is outside the gym. She checks her map and exclaims that this must be it. She asks Espeon if it's ready to see Misty, and the two of them walk inside. She calls for Misty when Psyduck suddenly smashes her in the face. Misty apologizes and sits her down, saying it's good to see her. She then lightly punches Psyduck on the head. Sakura says it's fine, and Misty asks why Sakura is in the area. Sakura then explains that she is out and about earning badges, so she decided to come here. Tracy waves and Misty then introduces her to him. Sakura asks if he is her boyfriend, and Misty embarrassedly laughs, exclaiming that he's just a friend here helping her out. She then informs her that Tracy is actually Professor Oak's assistant. At this, Sakura becomes overjoyed. She says she really wants to meet Oak and his assistant must be just as good. Misty laughs and begins to explain to Tracy how she and Sakura met.
She has a flashback of Ecruteak City, where she and Sakura bonded. After she returns, Tracy asks Sakura about Espeon. Sakura laughs, exclaiming that it's her strongest and most loyal Pokemon. Tracy says it looks so well trained. Misty sighs, wishing she could say the same for Psyduck.
Misty then shows Sakura the pool, exclaiming that this is the battlefield and home of her water Pokemon. Sakura is impressed, and says she has earned a few badges herself. She shows Misty her badge case containing the Zephyr, Hive, and Storm badges. Misty is impressed, and Sakura explains that she would like a battle with Misty to earn a Cascade Badge. Misty accepts and goes to find a Cascade Badge before they start.
She opens a drawer to find it empty and exclaims that there is probably some in the safe. She opens that to find it empty too. She then decides to phone her sisters. She introduces them to Sakura and explains the predicament. The three explain that they must've run out of badges from all the matches they lost, making Misty annoyed. Her sisters then exclaim that there's a badge maker not to far away in the next town. They then say they have to go and hang up. Misty doesn't feel to into going to the next town. Tracy and Sakura both offer to accompany her, so she decides to go.
She places a closed sign on the gym and gives the keys to Nurse Joy, telling her to watch it while she's gone. Nurse Joy says it won't be a problem, and the three head off. They approach a mountain and Misty exclaims that the town is just on the other side. The three begin to press on, but Espeon senses something and rushes the other way. The three make it to a small cliff where a man had fallen. They help him up and he explains that he broke his leg when he fell.
Espeon leads the group to the man's house and they bandage up his leg. After some conversation and introductions, it is revealed that this man is Kokojo, the badge maker. Misty and co are overjoyed, and she explains the predicament she's in. Kokojo becomes annoyed, exclaiming that badge making is hard work. After some conversation, he agrees to help if they help too. All three agree and he says they can spend the night.
In the middle of the night, Kokojo enters the room and dongs a bell, waking them all up. Misty asks what he's doing and he explains that they have to start now. Everyone is so tired, but they have to start. Kokojo makes them first run up a hill, tiring them out. He then has then chop logs. After, they stick some metal pieces in a kennel, and then they chisel them. After many more tasks like torching and welding, and lots and lots of shining, the three each have an uncolored Cascade Badge.
Kokojo then tells them to go to bed and they'll finish them in the morning. Misty and co are exhausted. The bell is rung in the middle of the night again, and Kokojo then has them paint their badges. He then tells them to run up the hill whilst they dry. When that is done, he inspects each badge and says they are worthy. He then exclaims that he won't give her the badges till she proves herself a worthy water Pokemon Gym Leader.
The group steps outside where Kokojo releases a Feraligatr. He eagerly awaits Misty's choice, but Psyduck pops out before she can choose. Feraligatr is too intimidating and Psyduck runs, falling down a hill and into a lake. Misty rushes and pulls it out. Kokojo is annoyed, exclaiming that a water Pokemon Gym Leader's own water Pokemon can't swim. He tells her he won't give them the badges now until she proves herself, so the three begin to teach Psyduck to swim again.
Misty tries to shove its face underwater, but it freaks out and rushes toward the house. Kokojo opens the door to be smacked into by Psyduck. He falls down and Misty and co apologize. He then exclaims that when he got back to the house he found the badges stolen! He shows them the broken safe and Sakura says they have to look. She goes outside and releases a Beautifly, shocking Misty. Tracy begins to sketch it and Sakura tells it to find the thieves.
The group follows Beautifly and Kokojo says he'll look in the opposite direction. Meanwhile, the two guys who stole the badges walk along, happy with their theft. Espeon then leaps in their way followed by Misty and co and Kokojo. They demand that the thieves return the badges, but they naturally refuse. The two send out a Poochyena and a Zigzagoon.
Tracy begins to sketch them as Sakura takes action. She has Espeon quick attack Poochyena. Misty tells Psyduck to use scratch, but it just trips. Zigzagoon tries to tackle Espeon, but it dodges. It then uses swift on Poochyena, but it dodges as well. Poochyena then tackles Psyduck and bites down on its head. Zigzagoon approaches Espeon as Psyduck's headache grows. It opens its eyes and lets out a confusion, stopping Zigzagoon. It then sends Poochyena and Zigzagoon flying into their masters. It then picks all 4 of them up and smashes them into a tree. Kokojo is impressed at Psyduck's power.
The two thieves then beg for mercy, handing the badges back to Kokojo. He forgives them, and tells them to get an honest job not in stealing. They thank him and rush off down the road. Back at his house, Kokojo tells Misty that he was very impressed with Psyduck. After some conversation, he hands her a case full of Cascade Badges. Sakura grins, saying now she can earn one.
Back at the Cerulean Gym, the two are already battling. A tackle from Espeon sends Misty's Corsola flying. Tracy comments that this is a great match. Corsola then uses spike cannon, which Espeon dodges by taking to the pool. Misty is shocked that Espeon is such a good swimmer when it isn't a water type, and she tells Psyduck to learn from this.
Espeon then leaps from the water and swifts Corsola. Misty has it recover then tackle Espeon. It flies into a wall, but flings off it and tackles Corsola right back. Corsola then tries another spike cannon, but Espeon dodges and psybeams it into the water. When Corsola surfaces, it is unable to fight. Tracy declares Sakura the winner, shocking misty. She is a little disappointed, but happy that Sakura did so well.
Misty thanks Corsola for a great job, and Tracy says she has trained it well. Misty then hands Sakura a Cascade Badge, exclaiming that she earned it. Sakura thanks her and hands Misty the Cascade Badge that she made. The two smile at each other and Sakura tells her to keep that one as a sign of friendship.
Outside the gym, Sakura and Tracy say their goodbyes to Misty. Tracy says he has to get back to Oak, and Sakura exclaims that she is going to go earn some more badges. The two then wave and take off down the road. Misty reenters the gym and decides to try one more time to teach Psyduck how to swim. She places its head in the water again, but it freaks out and runs away. She begins to chase it, exclaiming that this will take forever.

The Pichu Bros

The Pichu bros wake up on top of a nearby building. They yawn and stretch out. One of them hears someone calling and they run off to find it. Nearby, a Smoochum is applying some much needed makeup. It hears the call and rushes off too. Soon, a Wooper, Magby, and Teddiursa join in the rush.
The source of the calling is an Azumarill. It happily calls out while holding a tray of acorns. The Pokemon line up to get some, but Teddiursa trips, causing a domino fall to Azumarill. It falls also and the acorns go tumbling down the hill. They all freak out and prepare to retrieve the nuts when a car drives by, smashing them all. The non-haired Pichu bro becomes mad and yells at Teddiursa. It then folds its arms and gives it a mean look. All the Pokemon begin to laugh at how tough it's trying to act.
Meanwhile, Meowth enjoys a nice cat nap at the top room of a large building. A weird system of contraptions pours him a cup of coffee and he wakes up. He puts a bath robe on and looks out the window, exclaiming that he has this whole city to enjoy! The narrator then reminds him of his hunger, and Meowth wonders what he'll eat. He then remembers the picnic basket he packed and sits in a chair. He takes off his robe and begins to talk with an imaginary maid who he switches between. After the "maid" gets his picnic basket, he decides to take a stroll to the park.
He walks along an alley without a care in the world. Teddiursa also walks down this alley, a little bummed at the loss of the acorn. It then smells Meowth picnic basket and forgets all about it. Meowth makes it to the edge of the alley that overlooks the city. He daydreams about the people placing a giant Meowth statue in the middle, and soon realizes Teddirusa is sniffing his food. He yells at it, telling it to go away and it can't have any. Teddiursa sadly shoves off.
As Meowth hugs his precious picnic basket, Smoochum comes running it with an identical one. It accidentally bumps into him and the two baskets are thrown together. Smoochum yells to Meowth, telling it to watch where he's going. It then grabs a basket and leaves. Meowth is a little aggravated, and he is soon in tears when he discovers his basket is just a bunch of cosmetics. The scene rewinds to show how the baskets must've switched, and Meowth rushes off to find Smoochum.
Smoochum happily skips through an alley when Meowth comes racing behind it. Thinking Meowth is insane, Smoochum rushes off as fast as it can. Meowth chases it, but it ducks under a hole in a fence. Meowth crashes into it and falls down. Little Torchics run around his dazed head. Smoochum enters the tire playground from the third mini movie where the Pichu bros and the other Pokemon are playing. It explains the situation to them, and Meowth enters, exclaiming that he wants that basket. Smoochum throws it to one of the Pichu and it rushes up the slide.
Meowth chases it up there, and the Pichu is having trouble climbing higher. It then throws the basket to Magby, who rushes off. Meowth jumps down and psychotically follows. After some running, Magby tosses the basket to the other Pichu. It runs from Meowth, but soon trips. Meowth laughs, exclaiming that he finally has his basket. Wooper then water guns it over a fence. Meowth is now insane with anger and rushes to get it, dropping Smoochum's basket. The Pokemon see this and Smoochum recalls the mix up. The haired Pichu bro then says they should go help out Meowth.
In the alley just outside the fence, Meowth is reunited with his picnic basket. He hugs it passionately, and then starts to walk off. He then accidentally steps on a sleeping Houndour's head and freezes with fear. The Pokemon lunges and Meowth runs for his life; dropping the basket in the process.
Meanwhile, Teddiursa stares at a cake in a shop window; obviously very hungry. Suddenly, the picnic basket lands on its head and it spies the food inside. The Pichu bros and their friends listen to Meowth get his rear end kicked from a hole in the fence. He appears seconds later, beaten and injured. Teddiursa then shows up and Meowth angrily grabs the picnic basket, but finds everything has been eaten! He sighs as Teddiursa explains how good the food was. He then collapses on the ground as the scene rises to the sky.



It's another beautiful day in the big city as Meowth happily strolls down the street. He looks around at the many food posters and remembers his picnic basket. He gets a little angry, and then decides he wants a pizza. He gets a job as a pizza delivery boy, and the owner hands him some pizzas. He then gets a plan to get the job done quicker.
Meowth goes to the tire playground and the Pokemon gather round. Teddiursa smells the pizzas and tries to grab one, but Meowth tells it to back off. He then tells them that when he gets done with his deliveries, they can all enjoy some pizza, and as planned, the Pokemon offer to help. Meowth grins and hands each Pokemon an address and a pizza. The Pichu bros fight over who gets to carry their pizza, but the haired one ends up winning. Meowth laughs out loud, exclaiming that with the Pokemon delivering the pizzas, he won't have too.
Smoochum runs down the street carrying its pizza. It turns a corner to find the road is blocked. Suddenly, a sewer erupts in front of it and a Squirtle wearing the same shades as Ash's jumps out. Two more erupt form sewers surrounding Smoochum. The leader explains that it has entered their territory. Smoochum tries to run, but they surround it and water gun it to death. Smoochum goes flying sky high and is about to fall on Wooper. Wooper notices this and tries to water gun it away, but it doesn't work. Both Pokemon lay on the ground stunned with their now soggy pizzas next to them.
Teddirusa strolls down the street as well. It then realizes it's hungry and looks around to make sure no one is looking. It then sits by some trash cans and prepares to chow down, but a Snorlax sleeping in the alley rolls over on top of it! Meanwhile, the Pichu bros are still delivering their pizza.
They take a short cut through an alley and find a fence blocking their way. The other Pichu snatches the pizza from the other and jumps on a board. The box on the other end flies up then crashes back down, sending Pichu sailing over the fence. It thinks it has landed safely, but it landed right on Houndour's head! It runs off as the other Pichu makes it over the fence. It calls to its brother and the two run as fast as they can as the Houndour gives chase.
Magby is looking at its address, wondering how to get there. The Pichu bros suddenly smash into it, sending both their pizzas flying. The pizzas smack into Houndour but it keeps coming. Magby is now aggravated, and it prepares a flamethrower. The Pichu bros dodge and the attack smashes Houndour right in the face, making a huge explosion. Houndour sits there stunned, burnt to a crisp. It then yelps and rushes off.
The Pokemon return to Meowth with their destroyed pizzas. Meowth freaks out, knowing he'll never get his pizza now. He returns to the pizza parlor, and in turn is fired. The Pokemon watch as the owner kicks him out. He then gets a job cleaning the park. The Pichu bros peek out from behind a tree, and Meowth just think he's seeing things. All the Pokemon then appear, and Meowth freaks out, telling them to leave before they cause trouble again. The Pokemon all pull out brooms and offer to do his work for him.
Meowth lounges on a bench, happy that he can relax. The Pichu bros dust a window when one yawns. They talk for a little bit, and then head away from the window. Meowth is no sipping coffee and relaxing further. He then spots the Pichu bros on a statue of a crescent moon on a globe. The moon is held from falling off by strings, but it begins to rock back and forth at the Pichu's cleaning.
Meowth rushes over there and one jumps off, exclaiming that they are almost done. Meowth notices the other Pichu still on and sees the ropes break on the opposite side of it. He lunges and grabs them before the moon falls off. He now hangs dangling from the ropes as the crescent moon teeters back and forth. The Pichu flies off and sparks a bit. Wooper's water gun goes haywire, and it smashes Magby in the face. It gets mad again and uses flamethrower, striking the ropes and burning them away. The crescent moon falls into some pillars, which in turn create a domino effect. Pillar after pillar falls over; the last smashing into the pool and breaking the fountain. The area floods and the Pokemon are all washed away. The scene zooms out to show that this park was actually on top of a building; which is now leaking water down its sides.
Meowth then gets the boot from that job too. He now sits in a nearby park, very depressed. The Pokemon group shows up again and he freaks out, but they just hold out a bunch of acorns for him. Meowth is in tears at how they still want to help him and he chows down on one. As soon as he puts it in his mouth, Meowth realizes acorns are sick. He still wants to be polite and pretends he likes them. He takes another one and reluctantly puts it in. The Pokemon all happily watch him eat as the scene rises.

Meowth's Hoso Specials

The episode begins with a view of the big city. A Wingull hovers above and flies down into a park. Meowth just happens to be in this park. He looks up at all the buildings, exclaiming how much he loves the city. He then opens his picnic basket and begins to eat. He takes out a sub sandwich and places it down. After some time, he looks over to a nearby Tauros statue and begins to day dream of people placing a giant golden Meowth statue up just for him.
As he dreams, he reaches to take a bite of his sandwich, but chows down on only his hand! He freaks out and blows on it, obviously hurting. He then looks over to see his sandwich hovering in midair. Meowth thinks he's just hallucinating and goes to grab the sandwich, but it slides away. He tries again, but his sandwich then takes off running! Meowth gets mad and chases it, now revealing that a red stripe seems to be carrying the sandwich.
Up above, one of the Pichu bros is collecting berries in a tree. It looks down to see Meowth chasing his sandwich. After watching for some time, Pichu's brother slides down to see what's going on. They both watch Meowth give chase and decide to help out. They slide down the tree and rush after him.
Meanwhile, A Azumarill is happily preparing a table. It places some flowers in a vase and steps back, knowing it's perfect. A Smoochum, Magby, and Wooper watch it. Suddenly, the sandwich floats by followed by a very angry Meowth. He leaps onto the table and smashes it before continuing his hunt. Azumarill is now angry, and gives Meowth a mad look.
It then begins to pick up the mess, but Meowth returns when his sandwich passes by. This time he smashes the whole table! Azumarill calls out to him and he apologizes, saying he wouldn't be in such a rush if his sandwich wasn't. The sandwich turns around and rushes towards the other Pokemon, then veers left. The other Pokemon decide to help and they chase after it, knocking Azumarill down. Now it is extremely mad, and it begins trying to water gun them. Meowth tells it to stop and ducks, but Azumarill is too mad.
Meanwhile, a Teddiursa is also in the park. It digs on the ground and finds some acorn shells, but to its dismay, they are empty. It then hears some commotion and turns to see many Pokemon chasing a floating sandwich. The stripe trips on a rock and the sandwich flies into Teddiursa's mouth. Meowth freaks out as the little bear chows down on his flying food. He tackles it and begins to knock it around. He smashes Teddiursa's head against the ground and tries to get his sandwich back, but it is long gone.
The Pichu bros discover a footprint in the ground and wonder what it could belong too. Meowth inspects it with a magnifying glass, and soon everyone is sitting down wondering who the print belongs too. Meowth exclaims that when he figures it out, the owner will pay for his stolen sandwich. He sits on the ground and begins to think, but isn't having much luck. He begins to blame the other Pokemon, angering the Pichu bros. They exclaim that the print could very well belong to him too, and he informs them that he wouldn't steal his own sandwich.
Meowth then inspects everyone's feet, and concludes that Magby stole the sandwich as its foot is most closely matched. The Pichu bros deny it, as Magby was chasing it along with them. Suddenly, the stripe waddles by. The Pichu's point it out and a sweat drop appears above it. All the Pokemon begin to chase it through the park, knowing that it is the culprit. After some time, the stripe runs into a stadium.
The Pokemon follow, but fund the stadium is full of multicolored stripe paintings. The group looks down to see a Smeargle happily painting the walls next to a bushel of apples. The stripe steals and apple and rushes off. The Pokemon run to catch it, but soon realize it's futile. The Pichu bros then get an idea and tell the Smeargle to splash its paint all over. It does so, and exposes the stripe as a Kecleon! It tires to sneak away, and Meowth jumps on it, pretending he still can't find it.
The Pokemon crowd around and the Pichu bros explain to it that it's covered in yellow paint. It realizes this and rushes off. The Pokemon all give chase, but the Kecleon has disappeared. Meowth then notices a trail of yellow footprints, so they decide to follow them. After some time, the group comes to a concrete tube where the prints lead inside. They peer in to see the Kecleon taking care of a baby Azurill. It opens its mouth and feeds it the apple. Meowth realizes that it only took the sandwich to feed it and he starts to understand.
Meanwhile, Azumarill has finally redecorated its table. Kecleon approaches with Azurill, and it happily leaps into its arms. The two Pokemon hug and Meowth realizes that Azumarill must be its mom. He then asks Kecleon what happened and it explains how it was walking along and found Azurill cold and trying to find shelter from a storm. It was obviously lost, so it took care of it by feeding and carrying it around. Meowth says that was pretty nice of it.
Azumarill thanks Kecleon and invites the whole group to have dinner with it at its table. Everyone sits down to a feast of fruits. Meowth says grace and they all dig in. The scene then ends with the Pokemon happily eating.

A new episode starts when the Pokemon are finished. After dinner, the Pichu bros play with the Azurill. The smart Pichu bro looks around to see its brother hiding in a bush by the table. When Azumarill isn't looking, it goes to snatch an acorn, but Pichu stops it. It begins to scold it, then the two notice Azurill is missing.
Meanwhile, Meowth wonders the back alley of the city as hungry as can be. He looks up and spies a sleeping Skitty up above. Meowth is instantly in love and creates a kissing face in a puff of smoke. It floats up to kiss Skitty, but it wags its tail, blowing it out. He sighs, saying it wasn't meant to be. He tries again and calls up to it, but Skitty just continues to sleep. Meowth then sadly walks on.
At the tire playground from the third mini movie, the Pichu bros rally the Pokemon together. They all begin to search for Azurill, who bounces by. The Pokemon give chase only to find Azurill happily bouncing across a busy highway! Semi after semi drives by, but luckily, Azurill makes it across safely. The Pokemon then use the cross walk.
Azurill comes to an alley and jumps on top of a Wooper who is wading in a barrel of water. Wooper is then trampled by the Pichu bros and their search party. It is a little aggravated, but decides to join them. Meanwhile, Meowth finds a wedding dress covered in roses in a shop window. He quickly "deflowers" it and decides to give the roses to Skitty.
Azurill happily bounces along next to the harbor. The search party watches as it leaps into the harbor. They think it's going to hit the water when a Feraligatr leaps out. Azurill bounces off of it and makes it to the other side of the harbor. The Pokemon stare in awe at the incredibly ironic scene. They then take the nearby bridge and the chase ensues.
Meowth brings a ladder to where Skitty is carrying the bouquet of roses. He blushes, hoping she'll like them, and he begins to ascend the ladder. Azurill enters the scene and spies the roses. It instantly wants them and uses its tail to bounce up to some clothes hanging in between the buildings. It gets itself caught in them, but continues to pursue the roses. Meowth presents them to the sleeping Skitty, but before it wakes up, Azurill leaps in. It lands on the roses and leaves with them, leaving all the clothes where they were. Skitty wakes up thinking Meowth is presenting it with a bouquet of clothes, and it slashes him. He falls off the ladder wondering what happened. He then looks up to see Azurill happily bouncing away with his roses.
Meowth still refuses to give up and this time he brings Skitty some cake. He holds it out, but Azurill jumps by and eats it. Skitty looks to see the empty plate and closes the window on Meowth's face. Meowth then tries to woo Skitty with some guitar music. It seems to be working, and Skitty comes to the balcony to listen. Azurill also comes and begins to dance to Meowth's music. Meowth becomes enraged, and tries to crush it with his guitar, but he only smashes Skitty. He freaks out and apologizes, but Skitty closes the shudders, sending him falling again. Meowth looks up at the jumping Azurill with tears in his eyes. He becomes very angry and says he is going to get revenge.
Meanwhile, the group of Pokemon continues their search for Azurill. They spy it on the rooftops as it nears the edge. It looses its balance and begins to fall. The Pichu bros tell Wooper to use water gun, and Smoochum picks it up. Meowth sits on the rooftop preparing to shove Azurill off. Smoochum tells Wooper to use water gun, and it does. At the last second, Azurill regains its balance and hops away, but Meowth is struck by the water gun and sent blasting off.
Azurill bounces off a tarp and lands next to the group of Pokemon. They all grab it, glad that it's ok. Meowth lands on the other side of the city. He is saddened by the loss of his beloved Skitty, but doesn't get a chance to think anymore about it when he is flattened by a Snorlax rolling over. The Pokemon group returns Azurill to Azumarill, and is in turn rewarded with another meal.

Boring isn't the correct word, maybe the word kiddish is better. I mean, Oak being kidnapped by Cassidy and Butch is much more interesting than hearing a Teddiursa and a Meowth look for food, IMVHO.

It's up to 4Kids. If they think it's necessary they *might* put it. I don't think they will though.

I doubt that any of these will ever air, on TV or DVD/VHS. If they were going to be released, they would have been already. Sad, but possibly true.

Mikey, you don't know much Japanese, do you? I am sorry to say that those Hoso summaries appear to be full of errors.

Item the First: (Hoso 1) Mizuho is the mother of Brock and his siblings (She's Back!), not some new girl Flint's picked up.

Item the Second: (Hoso 1) Jirou isn't going to be Gym Leader just yet; Brock's pokemon are going to teach him how to be a good trainer.

Item the Third: (Hoso 3) How in the world did you get "Itsumu" from "Roozu" (Rose), which is the girl's actual name?

There are a great many more as well, which I don't have time to go into at the moment.

I didn't quite hear the name so I went off what I thought I heard. Never heard rose though.

And as for Jiroo as the gym leader, I never meant for him to take over when I wrote that. No where did I say he was taking over that moment.
