Poll: Summer 2003 Cartoon Character Contest-Round 2

NOTE: Before anybody bashes me for this, I would like to say that Lady Vulpix has actually recommended me to do it in this format. Needless to say, I'm going with the flow. If you haven't heard, there is a similar tournament going on at GameFAQs (http://www.gamefaqs.com) among video game characters, and as strange as it may seem, they have their very own message board for it. Many people are already doing what I am doing, so if you consider it strange, alien, unfamiliar, or otherwise repetitive, don't blame me--blame Jjukil for promoting them. Round 2 officially started August 3rd, and thanks to brave folks like mr_pikachu, who broke some very last-second ties, I have been able to construct the 16 match-ups that are Round 2. Votes for Round 2 will be valid until August 11th, when the Division Semifinals begin.

RULES: The rules are simple: vote for who you like better as a reply. That's it. Whoever gets more votes advances to Division Semifinals. It's basically a popularity tournament. (You may be surprised at who advanced over whom.)

I picked Vegeta as the DBZ rep with the same reason why I picked Wallaby over Nigel for KND and Kit over Baloo for TaleSpin--because they are (at least in my opinion) better representatives for their respective shows. It's also because of such domination of Goku in last year's polls that I decided to even things out. (Yes, he made more of an impact than Homer Simpson, though I should have picked a less popular Simpsons character to contend with the others.)

I was very close to putting Yusuke Urameshi on the list (as well as Naruto), but then I realized that the Shonen Jump impact was already controlling much of the division--Vegeta, Yugi, and Luffy. The anime world is so diverse that devoting a quarter to Shonen Jump characters (and another quarter to animation outcasts) would leave little room for anything else. I also excluded Spike Spiegel because Vash the Stampede is already on the list. I'm not sure if the two shows are made by the same people (it sure looks that way though), but apparently, at least on Cartoon Network, the two shows are treated almost synonymously. Actually, I forgot about him. He was in last year's though.

Hey, SilverMachop, that's the most interesting post I've seen all day. Anyway, to answer your question, I also post this poll in The GameFAQs Summer 2003 Contest Board (http://s3.cgi.gamefaqs.com/boards/gentopic.asp?board=8) and Pokémon Phenomenon (aol://5863:126/mB:414621). The GameFAQs board has given me a pretty cold reception right from the start, but if you look hard enough, you can find some of the matches. (I'm "Dudamon" there.) Don't bother loking for Round 1 in Pokémon Phenomenon--it got caught up in The Host's weekly sweeps of random topics. Round 2 is there though. And I'll update the scores in a sec and learn how to use Bracket Maker.

Non-religious? What do you define as "non-religious"? Are we talking atheists, or just people who don't take part in vows of silences, fasting weeks, ritual ceremonies, etc.? Because I'm the second, but I assure you, not the first. Anyway, I tried watching a few episodes of The Simpsons. Really, I did! But I found that I'd much rather be on here or surfing the rest of the net than watching it. It just seemed too dumb for my tastes. But I guess I can understand why other people like it, as it does have it's good points. It's just not for me.

And I do have an ever-so-slight bias against people whose vocabularies have less than 500 words. Including "doh". There's MY two cents. Oh, wait, maybe that was a nickel...
