The Year is 2290ad
Earth is no longer what it used to be. Mankind, or what is left of it now exists as an endangered species. Hunted by Powerfull, seemingly invincible creatures known simply as Terra's. They appeared suddenly and without warning, spreading like wildfire and demolishing the human civilisation. By the end of the 21st century Man had been reduced to mere prey for this new dominant species.
These gigantic creatures, are genetically classified as insects, arachnids or Arthropods however each averaging around the size of a Bus. Most do resemble 'bugs' but some have been seen to resemble some reptiles and mammals. Flying types are also found but for some reason these creatures have avoided water, not so much a weakness they just dont like to swim.
This fact has enabled the human race to survive. A large number of people escaped to experimental space colonies but those that were left behind were forced to survive against the odds. Terra's seem to have an ability to track humans, as if to sense where they are, causing the meagre populations to become Nomads or to live on small isolated islands. Going back to simple farming ways, forgotten by most.
These Terras can 'eat' anything, changing the raw materials into energy either to reproduce or to use in energy blasts. Metals, Rocks, Buildings, vehicles, plants, anything solid is edible. Only raw energy (electricity, energy blasts, fire) can not be eaten.
They have also been known to eat humans however since we are such small beings they get little energy from eating individuals so they use a 'projectile foam' they spray from their mouths to merely 'cocoon' humans in a naturally produced resin which instantly fossilises anything it touches. Once an adequate number of victims has been collected they eat.
They are also seemingly indestructible, able to regenerate in a day from even the most crippling injury. Some come lightly armoured and fast, otheres are covered in armour so thick even grenades have trouble penetrating. The only true way to destroy them is to strike their brains, or the 'core'. Usually partially exposed either at the back of the head or in the mouth and although Partially exposed the Terra's know their weakness and know how to defend it.
Recently the Terra's have been advancing further and more and more human populations are being devoured. Eventually every human will be consumed, it is merely a matter of time. Humans must stop running, The choice is simple, let the Terra's reach them and be eaten, or fight. Either way death is probably, to fight means Life is Possible. It is a fight for survival.

Noone will be armed to start off with. This has changed from full on gore to extreme survival. A tank would struggle to take a Terra down and these people have nothing more than knives. Technology has been forgotten or destroyed. NO GUNS ALLOWED in your signups, no Martial artists, camoflage experts, Military tacticians etc.
Most people wont even be familiar with machines at all, never mind weapons.
