Alright, here's the deal. I'm bored out of my mind. So I'm sitting here and I'm thinking about what I should do. So I figure I could post a discussion about what cards every Magic The Gathering deck needs in the TCG forum at TPM. Here's what I've thought of so far. Maybe help out new MTG players (Not that there are any chillin' out in this forum to begin with..) I'm not gonna specify what TYPES of decks. I'm just doing a general logging of each color.

Black:

Duress
Chainer's Edict
Avatar of Woe
Demonic Tutor
Dark Ritual
Terror
Drain Life
Recurring Nightmare
Nekrataal

Green:

Birds of Paradise
Llanowar Elves (Mainly for Elf decks, but could be useful in others)
Overrun
Survival of the Fittest
Verdant Force

White:

Disenchant
Dismiss
Abeyance
(Cataclysm)
(Armageddon)
(Wrath of God)

Blue:

Counterspell
Obsessive Search
Tolarian Academy
Other P9 Blue Cards are always good. I don't know them all.
Dissipate

Red:

Shock
Firebolt
Fireblast
Incinerate
Ball Lightning
Shattering Pulse
Firestorm
Seize the Day

Artifacts:

Nevinyraal's Disk
Mox Jet
Mox Diamond
Mox Ruby
Mox Sapphire
Mox Emerald
Chrome Mox (From Mirrodin)
Black Lotus
Ancestral Mask (I think that's what it's called..)

Well that's all I can think of for now. Everyone else here who plays MTG should add to the list. I think this should prove quite interesting. Feel free to post some gold cards too.

You forgot the dual lands and the fetch lands. All decks I see at my shop use 'em. A lot of lands are staples, more popular ones being Maze of Ith and Wasteland.

Green
-Rancor
-naturalize(whats that you say! a green disenchant?!)

Blue
-tinker
-bribery
-treachery

the blue cards are quite specialised but i use the green ones quite often.

Yeah, I've probably missed quite a few cards. Oh, and in case any of you are wondering, I DO know Tolarian Academy is an artifact. I put it in the blue section because of the P9 deck that focuses around it.

No...Tolarian Academy is a Land that makes blue mana based on the number of artifacts in play.

I do not remember stating ANYWHERE that this was type one.
