Ok guys, who's inner Pokemon do you think the crew is represented by?

Ash - Bulbasaur. Because he's stubborn, never gives up and can sometimes pull off the unimaginable.
Misty - Gyarados. Because she's angry on the outake, but once you get to know her, she's a powerful friend to have.
Brock - Geodude/Heartbroken Spinda. Because he's constantly losing out in the love stakes.
May - Torchic. Unexperienced, a bit off kilter, and pretty new.
Masato - Delibird. Because he's always got a little bit of information to throw into a conversation.
Jessie - Arbok. Arbok was the essense of Jessie, powerful, tried to the bitter end, a bit daft and sometimes rather kind.
James - Castform. Changes his personality depending on the situation and that time of the month.
Gary - Charizard. A showoff Powerhouse.
Tracey - Hoot hoot. Tends to watch a little more than do.

Cool idea. For some of them, I think the Fortune Hunters episode came pretty close, and I'll tell you forwhy:

Ash: Bellsprout.
Not exactly very stylish or charismatic, but possessing an inner strength and flexibility that allows him to bend and adapt to new situations.

Misty: Tentacruel
You either love her or loathe her. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Brock: Machoke
Strong, capable, determined ... and a little bit gay.

Jessie: Eevee
Visually appealling but not to be underestimated. Multi-faceted with a number of personality traits, from the inner fire of a Flareon to the aesthetic sensibilities of a Vaporeon. (Personally I think Eevee's rather ugly, but on this one I'll go with most people's opinions.)

James: Smeargle
Offbeat and unique, James just wants to bring more colour and pizzaz into a drab world.

May: Pikachu
Opinion is divided: she sickeningly conforms to what is considered to be cute and appealing, but a lot of people just find her annoying and useless.

Max: Abra
Smart but physically weak, prefers not to engage in violence.

Ash: Larvitar
Adorable, but powerful. Both hide their true abilities up until they're necessary. Both "evolve" in to powerful forms of their original self.

Misty: Marril
Cute and always available to brighten someone's day. Fully capable of helping when needed, they both prefer to act tough even if they don't feel it.

Brock: Tyrogue
Constantly trying to better himself, both Brock and Tyrogue are full of determination. Though sometimes misguided, their hearts are always in the right place.

May: Mew (I'm not kidding)
Both prefer to play rather than work, but know when it's time to get serious. They may not be the most powerful and may occasionally mess up sometimes, they still are both always learning and teaching.

Max: Hitmontop
Neither one can sit still, whether it's to learn new things or become stronger. Both believe they're already pretty strong, but are always willing to become stronger/more knowledgable.

Jesse: Beedrill
Nice as she can possibly be, but if you cross her (or you have something she wants!), you can expect to face her wrath.

James: Numel
Slow-witted and not really all that powerful, but you'll never find anyone more loyal.

Meowth: Meowth
Well, duh.

I haven't seen any of the new episodes, and really my extent of the knowledge of the new characters goes as far as what their names are and their hair colour. This being the case, I don't think I'd be able to assign a pokémon identity to them; I will, though, have a go at the older characters, disregarding type allegiance - just because Misty specialises in water pokémon doesn't mean she's subject to that limitation, and nor does Brock's initial preference for Rock types mean only these types apply to his actual nature.

Ash - Slowpoke. To be honest, I'm a fan of neither, but it's more that Ash possesses a kind of prodigial strength that I choose this; Slowpoke, too, possesses a kind of inner strength hidden by an exterior unbefitting of this quality. However, in all honesty, Slowpoke's lack of intelligence, and this is not to disparage Ash to any great degree, also crops up in Ash, and in both cases this dense quality is only outweighed in situations where both Ash and Slowpoke (in general terms) are confronted with a situation that requires it.

Misty - Oddish. Perhaps an odd choice (pun unintended), but Oddish would seem, as Misty does when placed in the context of her sisters, to be outcompeted and outstripped by other, stronger and more physically attractive pokémon. This is not to say that either Misty or Oddish are ugly, but they are yet to bloom into anything other than what they seem - be it a weed that seeks shelter from prying eyes, or a tomboy who really hasn't found her proper niche in life. It would seem that this would limit the capabilities of both, but in reality, Oddish at least has a few options - first it must evolve, of course, into Gloom, but after that it has a choice - it can either become an overbearing brute of a pokémon that employs the more poisonous methods to win, or it can become something of a fragile, though strong, beauty. The possibilities for both also exist in Misty, as does the duality of Gloom's future - she can appear at one moment to be something of a feminine beauty, but then erupt into a kind of overbearing monster who uses force to get her way.

Brock - His wisdom would dictate that he'd be alligned with Wartortle - remembering that Wartortle's appearance has attributed to it's identification by many cultures in the Pokémon world as the personification and embodiment of wisdom beyond its [evolutionary] level. The fact that Wartortle isn't necessarily as sage as it may seem also applies to Brock - and neither are as mature as they'd like to seem. Their own tendencies to forget their apparent reputation as wise oft results in them acting in a less than dignified way.

Jessie - a mixture between Misdreavus - tricking others and screaming a lot - and Murkrow - feared and loathed by many, and visiting misfortune upon those whom she sees to be easy victims - and maybe the physical beauty (Jessie does have a quality of beauty about her) of Milotic. A single pokémon is too hard to choose.

James - very concerned with the way he looks, James is probably quite like Goldeen - feminine, or rather, effeminate, and very much interested in the less masculine side of things. However, liek Jessie he's a mix - he can be loyal, so perhaps Growlithe, but he can also be cowardly, so perhaps Abra and its habit of fleeing battle would be better.
