Well, I'm having a shot at creating an RPG, and I hope it will go well, but we'll find out. But here goes:
The Ancient’s Academy of Mage Excellence
An academy lies on a floating island, above the Earth. The academy is the reminiscence of a past war, forgotten by ones ungifted with magic. The academy is actually a redesigned fortress, with traditions dating back before man’s existence. There amongst the midst of the academy, is a small town, where gifted Ancients dwell in peace, watching upon the world of naïve humans. But the academy holds elements of the beginning of time, and the academy is a maze of secrets. At the academy, small groups of students learn how to become what they desire, from mages to swordsmen. But magic is the most general thing the academy tutors in. If one is essentially gifted with strong magic skills, or strong of will, they are thought to be able to master summons: long forgotten beasts, which are capable of aid or destruction.
Educated mages take separate magic classes, but for different elements. Over many years, one can master different elements.
In the fields of swordsmanship, one can participate in:
Basic armed combat and defence. (Level 1)
Enhanced armed combat and defence (Level 2)
Enhanced sword/magic conjunction techniques. (Level 3)
Basic Archery (Level 1)
Enhanced Archery techniques (Level 2)
Element enhanced Archery techniques (level 3)
The arts of stealth (level 1)
Enhanced stealth (level 2)
Students are expected to select one level of swordsmanship, and must obtain B+ or higher to advance to the next level if they wish to continue. A full course will take 3 years, save stealth which requires 2. Future ninjas, samurai, berserkers, and thieves (not recommended), archers and dragoons are required to follow these courses. Extra coaching will be given to those who choose to be future dragoons, samurai and ninjas.
In the fields of magic, many different elements can be learnt.
Earth: Getting in touch with our earth spirit, Gaia, and learn about regeneration, herbs and the strength of Earth. Techniques shall be taught after herbal medicines, followed by elemental techniques: using magic to control nature, and lastly finished with the Spells of Earth. An added bonus is the learning of Earth defensive techniques, which is easily the most defensive branch of magic, protecting against even fire and thunder.
White: Learning about curing spells, preventive and defensive spells. One can learn the lores of white magic, mostly healing and defending. One is also taught the defensive physical techniques of a monk, and is generally encouraged to be a more docile person.
Water: Learning about the great beasts of the sea, and illusions are also incorporated within this unit. The laws of animal control are also taught within here, with blue mage coaching, beast trainer training given. Spells are taught toward the end of the unit.
Fire: An incredibly dangerous, but worthwhile unit. It incorporates the art of weapon forging, and the control of fire. Proper training is first to be issued on the use of fire.
Wind: This unit has an ideal that many students enjoy. Being able to learn to fly. This unit also focuses largely on weather, and the proper use of it. Along with the weather, tornadoes, thunderstorms, lighting strikes are just some of the wonderful spells of the unit.
SPECIAL COURSES
To be able to participate in these courses, one must be able to either win a tournament, or receive an A+ on their report, which is issued approximately once every semester. 'Course, I’m exempt from these terms ;). J Each of these courses do not require extra years, but rather sacrifices from students free time will be made.
Time/Status- Perhaps the most dangerous sort of magic, Time magic focuses on the stopping of forwarding of time to suit ones leisure.
The lost arts of the ancients- this is the final course for excelling students in the swordsmanship departments. But one who incorporates it with magic can perhaps be the deadliest.
Summoning- Probably the hardest of the courses. This course focuses on the summoning and taming of the worlds strongest and rarest beasts.
You are here for 6 years. Choose subjects to fulfil this time. Ie. Three elemental courses can fulfil 6 years, or an elemental course, a swordsmanship course and a level one course.
But this school isn’t all just spells and schoolwork. Take time to enjoy oneself, and you should enjoy yourself. The school is a boarding school, and it is forbidden to leave the school grounds without the headmaster’s permission.
Tournaments are held every so often, and one can choose to participate in it in the glory of being accepted into a special course, or continue with their studies, developing their skills.
There are also many clubs available, where some students may wish to undertake such as mimicking, beast care taking, monster slaying practice, sports training, ancient history (recommended if one undertakes summoning), duelling, dragon research and many other clubs. Students may also suggest ideas, and if deemed sensible will be accepted.
Along with this, you can also decide in how to allocate your character’s abilities, whether you think he or she should excel in defensive capabilities, or whether they have the potential to conjure storms with the greatest ease. You have a total of one thousand and six hundred points, and should be distributed among the following attributes:
