View Full Version : A new fun Strategy?

(inspired by make believe friend) ;)

I have been trying to think about this kinda thing for a while:

1st poke = set up spikes

2nd poke= confuse/t-wave opponent

3rd poke= Double Team + BP to:

Aron - Lvl 1 (yes level one)
-Endeavor
-Sandstorm
-Roar
-Toxic

Since Aron is fully D-teamed, lets assume that no attack can hit him.

Aron uses Endeavor, which takes the opponent down to 12hp.
Then set up Sandstorm.
Then use Roar.
And repeat.

If opponent isnt KOed by Spikes, it hopefully will get KOed by Sandstorm.
If all that fails, Aron uses Toxic.

Weaknesses i have found:
1) An attack actually hits while fully DTeamed. ex.getting lucky, or using swift/a-ace/shock wave.
2) Gligar with Rest.
3) Rapid Spin would half the % that the strategy would work.
4) Poke that BPs DT, gets Koed.
5) Ghost types. (which can still be roared.)

Thats all i can think of ATM....

...So what do ya think?

That's a really cool strategy! But isn't there some poke that can Spike, DT and BP, and possibly T-wave, Spore, Yawn, etc.?

The problem is that after 6 DTs (the max), you still only have a 66% no hit chance, which gives you a 1/3 chance of getting hit.

Another problem... are moves like Will-O-Wisp accuracy-based?

Will-o-wisp IS acc based.
Some non-acc based moves are:
-swift-like moves
-sandstorm/hail/etc

and the only poke that can learn that combo is Smeargle:yes:

the only problem with that is in the same time it takes you to set that up someone will have already set up an even faster more worthwhile way to woop you... :\

Besides the fact you'll have a lvl 1 Aron on your team the entire time...And if you're Roared out before you have a chance to BP(besides the whole not-locked-in thing) you're screwed. If at any point they are allowed to Roar before you finish your set-up, you're screwed.

not to mention... switching...

What about if the DT+BP was a Umbreon with:
-sub
-mean look
-DT
-BP

?

Is it worth mentioning that a level-1 pokémon of any kind is impossible without a cheating device, so some people would refuse to battle you because you used one?

I think we can safely say that, as a team strategy, this is too unstable and tricky to pull off successfully. Interesting, but risky.

You could still use a similar setup though, but if I were you I'd make it my top priority to ensure that each pokémon could hold it's own in battle. That probably means changing the baby Aron for something more useful.
Something fast preferably, with perhaps Endure, Belly Drum or Substitute on there. If you set your HP to the right value, I think you can ensure that you'll be able to BD/Sub down to 1HP.
Don't like the Umby set much either, it's useless on it's own; what if if got trapped itself? I'd like it to do a bit of damage at least.

Im been TRYING to test it on NB, but there are too many hazers, and new ways to KO umbreon x_X

I have just been using:

Gligar
-sandstorm

V

Lanturn
-c-ray
-t-wave

to set up
V

Aron (bright powder)
-endeavor
-protect
-toxic
-roar

It still works, but i might put d-team in arons set and see what happens...

Skarmory is immune to all three. Neither Spikes, Toxic or Sandstorm will affect. Could put a spanner in the works.

Also, only the Sandstorm component will affect Weezing & Crobat.

Solution - make sure both the setup types are equipped to kill Skarmory (Lanturn is ideal and you are already using it).

Cradily also gives you a slight problem, since they can't be Roared and are immune to Sandstorm, so you have to hope they won't Earthquake you to death before Endeavour/Toxic kicks in.

I'd suggest you talk about a L5 Aron, however, since L1 is not normally possible.

Nasty idea, soggy. Nasty.

At least you still have three other poké's to cover any weaknesses... unless I'm missing something ^_^

Yeah, Lanturn is my fav electric type, good for dealing with stupid ol' Skarm...

Oh, and lanturn has Leftovers to nulify the s-storm.

EDIT: Also, on NB, you can set your Pokemon's level to 1.:D
