Okies, here is the formula that will tell you just how long it will take for you to get an egg after you leave your Pokemon at the daycare center.

If the Pokémon that you are trying to breed are compatible with each other, once you leave your 2 Pokemon at the daycare center, a random number between 0 and 255 is chosen, the number decreases by 1 every time you take a step. After this number reaches 0, another random number between 0 and 255 will be chosen. This number will be explained next, it decides if you get an egg or not. Also, these numbers are computed inside the game, you never actually see these numbers.

If the 2 Pokemon that your are trying to breed are the same species, and they have different trainer ID numbers, then the random number (the one mentioned in the paragraph above) will be compared to 254. If you talk to 1 of the Pokemon while it is in the daycare yard, it will say "It appears to care for (The other Pokemon)."

If the 2 Pokemon that you are trying to breed are the same species, and they have the same trainer ID numbers, the random number will be compared to 177. If you talk to 1 of the Pokemon while it is in the daycare yard, it will say "It's friendly with (the other Pokemon)."

If the 2 Pokemon that you are trying to breed are different species, and have different ID numbers, the random number will be compared to 128. If you talk to 1 of the Pokemon while it is in the daycare yard, It will say "It's friendly with (the other Pokemon)."

If the 2 Pokemon that you are trying to breed are different species, and they have the same trainer ID numbers, the random number will be compared to 51. If you talk to 1 of the Pokemon while it is in the daycare yard, it will say "It shows interest in (the other Pokemon)."

If the 2 Pokemon can't breed, the random number will be compared to 0. If you talk to one of the Pokemon while it is in the daycare yard, if it is incompatible with the other Pokémon it will say "It has no interest in (the other Pokemon)." If the 2 Pokémon can't breed because they are "related," (which means they have the same Special and Defense DVs) then it will say "It's brimming with energy!"

Reasons why Pokemon won't breed...

2 shiny Pokémon can't breed

The 2 Pokemon are the same gender.

The 2 species of Pokemon can't breed with each other, for example, a Meganium can't breed with Seaking.

They are incompatible, if they are incompatible, it doesn't mean that those Pokemon can't breed, it just means that they can't breed with each other.

They are both genderless, and neither one of them is a Ditto.

2 Dittos will not breed with each other.

Baby and Legendary Pokemon can't breed.

2 Pokémon that have the same Defense and Special Deter Values can't breed with each other. (Which is also why 2 shinies and 2 max stat Pokémon can't breed with each other.)

Now, look at the descriptions above, and find out which one match the 2 Pokemon that you left at the daycare. If the randomly chosen number between 0 and 255. (The one mentioned in the paragraph above.) is lower then the number next to the descriptions above, then an egg will be waiting for you at the daycare. So in other words, you will have the best chance of getting an egg quickly by breeding 2 Pokemon that are the same species, but have different trainer ID numbers. If the randomly chosen number is lower then the precalculated numbers next to the descriptions above, then congrats, because you will get an egg! But if the random number is higher, then the entire process written in the paragraph above will start all over again. Once again, all of these numbers are calculated inside the game, they are not visible to you.

Now, here is a list of how many steps that will you have to take for a Pokemon to hatch from it's egg. Please note that the egg has to be one of the Pokemon that you are carrying with you, it will not hatch if you leave it in your PC.

1280 steps-Magikarp.

2560 steps-Pichu, Cleffa, Igglybuff, or Togepi.

3840 steps-Caterpie, Weedle, Pidgey, Rattata, Spearow, Zubat, Geodude, Sentret, Hoothoot, Ledyba, or Spinarak.

5120 steps-Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Ekans, Sandshrew, Nidoran(F), Nidoran(M), Vulpix, Oddish, Paras, Venonat, Diglett, Meowth, Psyduck, Mankey, Growlithe, Poliwag, Abra, Machop, Bellsprout, Tentacool, Ponyta, Slowpoke, Magnemite, Farfetch'd, Doduo, Seel, Grimer, Shellder, Gastly, Drowzee, Krabby, Voltorb, Exeggcute, Cubone, Lickitung, Koffing, Rhyhorn, Tangela, Kangaskhan, Horsea, Goldeen, Staryu, Tauros, Porygon, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Chinchou, Natu, Mareep, Marill, Sudowoodo, Hoppip, Aipom, Sunkern, Yanma, Wooper, Murkrow, Wobbuffet, Girafarig, Pineco, Dunsparce, Gligar, Snubbull, Qwilfish, Shuckle, Sneasel, Teddiursa, Slugma, Swinub, Corsola, Remoraid, Delibird, Houndour, Phanpy, Stantler, Smeargle, or Miltank.

6400 steps-Onix, Mr. Mime, Scyther, Pinsir, Misdreavus, Heracross, Mantine, Skarmory, Tyrouge, Smoochum, Elekid, or Magby.

7680 steps-Omanyte or Kabuto.

8960 steps-Eevee or Aerodactyl.

10240 steps-Chansey, Lapras, Snorlax, Dratini, or Larvitar.

The number of steps that you need to take for your egg to hatch are not visable on your game, they are calculated inside the game.

Now, for your second question...

TO get pictures of Pokémon to show up, you will need to get the URL of the picture, and put img tags around it. The URL for the Pokémon sprites is...
http://www.pokemasters.net/images/games/ruby_sapphire/rs001.png

NOTE: Change the 001 in that URL so that it matches the number of the Pokémon whose picture you want to appear in your posts/sig. To see pictures of the different Pokémon sprites, as well as their numbers, go to these two pages from pokemasters.net, http://www.pokemasters.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=viewarticle&artid=210 and http://www.pokemasters.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=viewarticle&artid=214

So basically, to get a picture of the Pokémon to appear in your posts/sig, you will have to type...
(img)http://www.pokemasters.net/images/games/ruby_sapphire/rs001.png(/img)

Also, make sure that when you type that, you change the ( and ) around the img tags to [ and ] The reason that I wrote them as I did is so you could see how to do the coding. If I had just used [ and ] around the img tags, then a picture would have just shown up, but you wouldn't have been able to see the coding!! You can put the pictures in your posts or your sig. If you want to put them in your message, then just put the code wherever you want the picture to appear in your post. If you want the pictures to appear in you sig, then you will have to go to your profile, and type up the coding in the box where you put your sig.
