View Full Version : Weirdest R/S Pokemon...

Aureon

This thread is about some of the weirdest new pokemon that may have been overlooked, and guess what their nature is...

http://www.pokemasters.net/images/games/ruby_sapphire/rs069.png

Kuchiito, this is a steel pokemon, which, like many others, doesn't really look that much like it's type...it's jaws look dangerous, but if it's made of Steel it probably can't move...

http://www.pokemasters.net/images/games/ruby_sapphire/rs132.png

Nendooru, this is a Ground/Psychic, and it reminds me of Hoothoot. Like it's pre evo it doesn't look like it can move at all, even if it was a statue it's hard to believe it can stand with those very small 'leg' things.

http://www.pokemasters.net/images/games/ruby_sapphire/rs142.png

Powarun, Normal. I heard this pokemon can change it's type! Is this true?

http://www.pokemasters.net/images/games/ruby_sapphire/rs151.png

Chiriin, Psychic. Yet another one of those pokemon that look like inanimate objects...

http://www.pokemasters.net/images/games/ruby_sapphire/rs190.png

Danbaru, Steel/Psychic. This evolves into cool pokemon, but this one is jst weird. Maybe it can move about by floating? Maybe that's how all the pokemon with very weird bases move about...

Yeah, those are some pretty weird ones. You forgot that grass/rock thing though. I frankly have no idea what chiriin and kuchiito are supposed to be, but what the heck. Nendooru looks like an old Aztek relic or somthing of the sort. It seems very much like Xatu, with its mystical aura. I think it looks scary, and its pre-evo even moreso. Danbaru-Metagaruso is IMO the best evolution line yet. They all look cool. I think danbaru would float/hop with its telekinetic powers. I looks like it's on the verge of incinerating a pichu with a red eye-laser. Love it. Noticed you put enekoro in there with the eevee evs. It fits in disturbingly well. O_o

I thinkk the wierdest pokemon have to be the three Reji's  have to be the wierdest and worst looking pokemon. Just look at them, what could be worse.

Nendooru is based on the Shakkoudiggu (ancient artifact. Anyone know of a certain digimon named Shakkoumon? See the resemblance?). Well, I'm pretty sure that's what it's based on.

Nendooru, reminds me of a mary-go-round for some reason. Either that or some other carnival amusement rides. I agree, the Reji's is by far the dumbest looking thing yet. What ticks me even more is that they are classified as Legendaries:mad:

hmm. bakuong, kuchiito, NENDOORU, YUREIDORU (but it's REALLY growing on me), mirokarosu, powarun, onigoori, metangu, rekkuza (what IS it?? why does it say "it always flies through the sky" in its pokedex? does anybody else notice IT HAS NO FREAKING WINGS???!!!! ... i'm okay now)... they're all freaks. =P

^Rekkuza OWNZ you.

Besides, all these freaky Pokemon may mean a new age... maybe we won't take so much heat from dumbarse Pokeyman haters.

The Rejis: Steel ownz you all, Ice is Okay, and Rock is stupid.

The steel guy with large mouth:... Don't even ask.

Powarun and the cute weirdos: Do they have good stats?

Azura Stardust

I find some of the new pokemon, like Bakuong, are just going a little odd... I think some of the artists are really, really high O_o;;

Anyway, I think the way Powarun works is that when it uses Rain Dance, it turns into a water droplet, when it uses Sunny Day, into a fire thingie, and when it uses Hail it becomes this ice thing. I THINK. And oh, it learns all of those moves too :) It also learns Ember, Powder Snow and Water Gun... I think... odd guy. Cute, though!

The Muffin Man

...The Reji's are GOLEMS people...believe it or not a golem does not look like Golem. They are creatures made from inanimated objects given life. Such as Ice, Steel, or Rock. That's why the Reji's look alike and like that.

Scythemantis
2nd December 2002, 09:01 PM
Um...there's nothing weird about rekkuzza having no wings. Traditional oriental dragons ALWAYS flew without wings...they had serpentlike bodies and just swam through the sky like snakes.

Anyway, yeah, Rejiis are legendary golems.

The grass/rock pokemon are based on Crinoids, also called sea lilies, flower-shaped and largely immobile relatives of starfish. Too bad crinoids are ANIMALS that live in the OCEAN... it should be rock/water, not rock/grass! (I know the fully evolved one's species says "anemone", not sea lily, but that's a sea ANIMAL too)

The rock/bug is based on a prehistoric animal called anomalocaris. Put that in google image search and you'll find a ton of pictures of how it looked. Again, it should be water type (bug/water would have been great since our only waterbug evolves into a bug/flying type)

You're right, but it is made from a fossil, and all fossils are rock/some other type. Even though they probably don't have any rock characteristics - which makes me wonder why "rock" is a type of all fossil pokemon. Sure, fossils are rocks, but living animals...aren't.

Scythemantis
2nd December 2002, 10:00 PM
Yeah, I know they have to always have rock type...but then it should be rock/water since none of the crustacean pokemon are bug types (which I find strange.) Anomalocaris was less related to insects than crabs are, too.

As for rekkuzza, I do agree its body looks...off. They were trying to give it the same armored, ancient look as groudon and kaiogre but its thin body didn't leave much room :p

Regarding the Reji~ trio: can anyone say, "Dr. Who"? Let's face it; they look like the evil trash-can like aliens (or whatever they were) from that show. Totally uninspired.

XF Legendz
3rd December 2002, 12:56 AM
That's how golems are supposed to look. And they actually look more inspired than most pokes.

The Rusted One
3rd December 2002, 01:09 AM
I wouldn't have said that golems are supposed to look like that; I mean, you'd think that articulating joints in the limbs wouldn't be too hard to incorporate into the design (Rejiaisu).
Actually my main problem is with Rejiaisu - it just looks like chunks of ice stuck together; sure, that's not too strange, if you think about it - ice pokemon = chunks of ice - BUT you'd think that it could be more like an actual living creature rather than blocks of ice glued together. The other two look okay in that they actually move and appear to have realistically articulating joints; but Rejiaisu has no moving points as elbows, and the only joints are where one ice chunk touches another. Sorry, but that one must've taken a whole 2 seconds to think up. 2.5 seconds if the creators were having a slow day.

IcyLapras
3rd December 2002, 01:24 AM
I think the Electric dog is pretty weird. It looks like it has a big einstein head or an afro or something.

XF Legendz
3rd December 2002, 08:47 AM
So it doesn't have articulating joints..I think that makes it more intimidating because it would seem to be motionless then all of a sudden... KILL! KILL! *lol* I dunno. I like them, but I guess I'm weird.

Aureon
3rd December 2002, 10:02 AM
Know what would be really cool? (and very far fetched) If all those pics of the 3 Reji's were the behind shots and they actually had scary faces. How would they appear in the anime, if they have no expression? All they have are weird dots in the shapes of M+O.

XF Legendz
3rd December 2002, 10:17 AM
I never knew having a face was necessary to be in the anime. They'd probably just be like robots or something. I bet the dots beep or light up when they are communicating. It should be interesting.

possessed
3rd December 2002, 11:01 AM
The dots look a little like Unown (except for reji-ice)
Anywayz I like the reji's as much as the other legends. Cool to look at but I wouldn't play em. It's always weird to me how so many people have legendaries in their teams whilst they're so unique...(if based on real-life)

Chris 2.1
3rd December 2002, 02:22 PM
i would actually try using the rejis on one of my sapphire files...i suppose the steel or ice probably. The rock one doesn't appeal to me.

I also think the fossil Pokemon that is like a plant looks weird...it's very strange.

Pokemon number two looks like a moon (everybody know that). Hmm...

Pokemon number 3, ooks really odd. For me like a old washer;)

Pokemon number 4: bean???

I like the Rejis. They're not even one piece, except for Reji-Steel. Reji- Rock and Ice are just held together with some mystical force. That's how they move. Their limbs just float around.

For me, the weirdest pokemon is Yamirami. I mean, just what were they aiming at here? A purple gollum-thing with diamond eyes? It barely looks like a Dark type, let alone a Ghost. MChiriin comes in a close second. Is it some kind of psychic, land-going jellyfish?

Scythemantis
5th December 2002, 01:00 AM
Golems in mythology DIDN'T have joints...they were solid stone or clay statues that could bend as though they were alive. What's wrong with having a face? Zubat was always one of my favorite pokemon entirely because it's the only one with no eyes whatsoever. I actually like the rejiis more than any other legendaries...the birds were neat, but I didn't like the dogs a bit (I never even remember their names or how they look)

Chiriin is meant to look like a kind of decorative oriental bell/windchime type thing. I forget what it's called.

As for Yamirami, how does it not look like a dark type? When I first saw it, everyone thought it was water just because its artwork looked blue, and I actually SAID it looked more like a psychic or dark type! What else could a little imp-like thing possibly be?

Nah, Pokemon 3 is based on an ancient Japanese artifact, the same thing the digimon Shakkuoumon was based on.
Pokemon 4 is a butterflyfish.

Scythemantis: "Everyone thought it was water"? No...I never did, and I think most people actually also thought it was dark, some thought it was dark/ice.

The rock bug also has a basis with the trilobite and the sea scorpian. Also, if you didn't know, the trilobite and the sea scorpian were both arthropods and/or crustaceans which are related to arachnids which are considered bugs. See the link? However, I think that krabby and heigani should be bugs.

Makunosita DOES look like Buu... much more than it looks like Pichu, anyway. (it has Buu's face, and his fat-ness. As far as Pichu, it only has the little rat's COLOR. {you can't even count the cheeks--they aren't the same, Pichu/Pikachu's are filled in.})

Spoofy nickname someone I know came up for it... "Pikabuu". I just hope they don't call it that (wait.. they can't because Buu is copyrighted. *whew*)

Most of the pokemon to date are humanoid in form. And if not humanoid, then some variation of a familiar animal. And even if a pokemon looks like some type of blob-thing, it has a face of some kind, or recognizable features.

This thing... I just can't wrap my mind around it. I mean, how does it poop?

Unown? eh...

Scythemantis

Yeah, its just an eye encased in a glob of steel with a leg for a body...

Everyone on other boards I went to thought yamirami was water, I mean. Probably just because serebii thought it MIGHT be.

http://www.pokemasters.net/images/games/ruby_sapphire/rs096.png
This is a "poison sac" pokemon evolved from a "stomach sac", so its actually a mobile body organ. It has the swallow & spit-out moves...
http://www.pokemasters.net/images/games/ruby_sapphire/rs095.png
One thing about these two though, are those little smiles with noses above them, or weird fishlike lips? (Like the "nose" is an upper lip)...For some odd reason I easily can see it both ways. Esspecially up close.
http://www.pokemasters.net/images/games/ruby_sapphire/rs149.png
..It's a mummy with one eye. Those things on the front are supposed to be teeth, but I don't like them. He's otherwise cool though.
http://www.pokemasters.net/images/games/ruby_sapphire/rs060.png
...An easter island statue? I don't know what's up with the big orange nose.
http://www.pokemasters.net/images/games/ruby_sapphire/rs172.png
A demon snowball, since it's ice type.
http://www.pokemasters.net/images/games/ruby_sapphire/rs134.png
I get it, tony :) . This guy is based on a sea animal called a crinoid. Yeah yeah, it's grass/rock, but that's what it is. Its pre-evolution is called "sea lily" which is another name for crinoid. This one is called "anemone", which isn't the same, but still a sea animal.

Anyway, I agree that the rock Rejii is the lamest. Steel is the coolest looking and Ice is so-so. I like it, though... the whole idea of a gigantic mass of floating ice crystals coming after you is just neat.

Sure, many of these new pokemon are rather bizarre, but I always thought, even with the new one, that Mr. Mime and Jynx were the weirdest pokemon. Mr. Mime looks too much like a frickin person, and Jynx . . . that just ain't right.

Scythemantis
8th December 2002, 05:03 PM
Its pokedex calls it an anemone, but its shape is definately taken from a crinoid, which is also called a sea lily, and the one it evolves from says "sea lily" in its pokedex (pic of crinoid (http://www.astrobiology.ucla.edu/ESS116/L14/1446%20deepwater%20crinoid.jpg)) Crinoids are plankton-eating cousins of the starfish, unlike the jellyfish/coral related anemones.

And yes, I think Jynx is the permanent queen of freakish pokemon. I used to use one...

i wouldn't say "remarkably" like wings... but i never would have noticed those without you pointing them out. they're the closest rekkuza will ever get to flying, i guess, but they don't look like they could hold something as big as rekkuza up (it looks large).

I didn't really notice before, but it does remind me of Unown, and also of Magnemite.. Magnemite is also a floating Steel-type that doesn't really look like anything and has one eye.. what is their obsession with floating one-eyed things? ("they" being the crazy people who actually design all these freakish Pokemon)

Rekkuuza's wings, if those are wings.. true they don't like they could hold it up, but neither do Dragonite's wings really, and it flies somehow.. I think Rekkuuza's wings are just for decoration, it could fly whether or not it had wings, it can just magically float through the sky, like most eastern-type dragons can (I think) Lots of other Pokemon fly without wings too, like.. those floating one-eyed things! :P What about Gyarados, it's a Water/Flying type, so it must be able to fly, but it doesn't look like it could..

uh, hi. anyone here know me? probably not, but meh...

n e wayz, i dropped by because i noticed you guys were talking about Yamirami. you guys dont seem to know what it is... heck no one really does. but here's my guess i'm sticking with: Yamirami is a zombie pokemon. granted, that's gonna make sence if you consider his type combo, but then the jewels throw me off... it makes me think Yamirami is a creature that lives in caves (which it does)... which makes me think of trolls. but it's not much of a troll... so I say zombie.

Scythemantis
23rd February 2003, 09:19 PM

Aninymouse

imps, goblins, gremlins... yeah that sounds closer...

like i said, it wasn't a solid guess. the guy reminds me of Zelda's ReDead though... meh. i just dont think a zombie has to be a rotting corpse... it's just a living dead. yamirami is ghost/dark... so he's
A. dead
B. evil
C. walking around with arms outstretched...

dunno. maybe i'm the only one who sees a zombie.

If only they gave the big green dragon guy a orange body and flaming eyebrows, he'd look like that fire dargon you fight in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

the most depressing thing about the regis is the discontinuation of the fire/ ice(except regice)&water/ electric. I dont see the relation between steel ice and rock. My opinion is that having rock type as a legendary is pathetic rock pokemon are so easy to beat. Another thing about them that sux is that after u catch them they all learn some move and then lock on and zapcannon. Game freak could've done betr.
