EV distribution for Gyarados

I need help with EV distribution. Should I max out 2 stats, or spread them out more evenly? What would work best with this set?

2. 252 spd, 252 at, 6 sp.d

5. unhappy dayz- i'm cutting off at number 5

Is maxing out speed/attack or SA the best thing to do for all sweepers? I thought maybe I should put some effort into HP or defensive stats so he can have better staying power, considering he needs to survive the dragon dances. Why should I put Taunt over Rest?

1. taunt ownz hazers.
2. number 2 is the ev distribution.
3. gyarados is meant for sweeping. using it for sp.def and hp just wastes the evs that are meant to help sweep the opponent

5. that gives the enemy game over basically. thus, taunt is good.
