Cut the umbilical cord to Gates that is IE and GET IT NOW (http://texturizer.net/firefox/). We'd have NO pop-up complaint threads if everyone got this baby (or at least jumped off the leaky vessel that is IE).

Download it. Everybody's doing it.

You want to be cool, don't you?

Has anybody paid you to advertise it? XD
I'm fine with my Mozilla 1.5, and don't bother saying they belong to the same family because I know that. :P But I've used other browsers too, like Konqueror and Nautilus (though I don't have Nautilus on my computer), and they work just fine. I've even used Lynx a couple of times, but that's not my choice of browser. And the good old Netscape which preceeded Mozilla. As for Opera, I haven't used it, but I've heard some funny comments about it.

Conclusion: there are more than 2 browsers around. Go and get whichever you like best.

Yay, 0.9 =) It better be a patch which will upgrade my Firefox rather then having to reinstall the entire thing again

Poo, I have to make all my adjustments again :mad2: Thats quite a pain in the arse. Could anyone tell me any significant changes to Firefox in 0.9?

In all honesty, I just want people off IE, and I'm not going to reccomend a browser I have yet to try.

What is better about Firefox then IE and what is different?

For starters it has an inbuilt pop up blocker, tabbed browsing so you don't have multiple windows open when looking at several websites and an inbuild google search bar which can be improved with other search engine pugins such as Amazon or eBay.

http://texturizer.net/firefox/features.html would explain better.

Legendary: No pop-ups. Ever. That's about all you need to know to switch to Firefox. Another cool feature is the tabbed browsing, which means having all your internet screens in one window. 8)

I won't be downloading this 0.9 for awhile, my computer has been acting crappy lately (freezing alot, etc.) and I just got Firefox like last month, so I'm happy with what I got. If the new verison has something good enough worth downloading then yeah..

I also believe Firefox is open source. Lots of way to speed it up.

It is an open source, so you may change as you see fit as long as it doesn't breach any laws i guess.

Any way to upgrade 0.8 to 0.9 or am i just going to have to redo everyhing again :sweat4::no:?

you can optimize some things with that if you're too lazy to do it yourself through about:config.

not just "nice..."

SHWEET!

Although I've heard from Fredrik (Doomworld moderator) that the new default theme sucks.

Doomworld admin Arioch had an completely different view on 0.9 :

Not saying Firesh*t gets the Arioch-seal-of-approval yet tho because it doesn't.

Installing .9 not only didn't migrate my settings from .8, when I asked it to import stuff from IE it decided to hang while trying to import Browsing History, and zeroed my entire profile when I had to close it.

Then I tried to import from IE again, without Browsing History, and while passwords worked, they don't work on those sites (wtf) and imported cookies didn't work either (wtf?).

And of course by now my .8 profile has been wiped, so I don't have any of my old stuff to refer back to, and now I have to manually log back in to everything I do.

Thanks mozilla!

And no way was he happy about it

People who whine about losing settings need to understand that it's POINT NINE. This is merely a beta still.

EDIT: Kainashi's download is super sexy for all you fat men.

It wasn't people who were whining, it was just me

Anyway, i'll just make a back up of the Firefox 0.8 folder and reintergrate any things that i want to put back into 0.9 and hopefully it should save me time and effort =)

Old news, my friend.

Firefox is good. Yeah. What else is there to say?

The new verson is out, that is all.

Luckily it does import 0.8 files, so the person who said his 0.8 profile was wiped...sucks to be him.

But everything has been imported fine, so i am happy and content although the icons are a bit too large for my liking. Maybe customisation will sort this out so i will just say its all good =)

Old news, but news nonetheless, especially to people who haven't noticed yet. :)
