The city of Denver is split up between a mass of Forsaken Packs and Pure Tribes watching from the sides of where the urban meets the rural landscape. There are also some high-players who get intermingled with the pack politics. Many NPCs featured are in Werewolf: The Forsaken, pg 298 as well as in Hunting Ground: The Rockies. The following are some well Renowned characters (NPCs and PCs) that the players/characters may be aware of.

    Current Pack Politics:

Denver is currently engaged in a political war between Maxwell Roman and Rachel Snow. Both encourage new packs in the area to work for their survival, but their methods differ. Roman will give political support and voice to the other Uratha elders, but also serve to judge on rivalries between said packs. Snow however will secretly fund both sides of a conflict and award the victor while publicly dismissing any allegiance with either side.

Both of Snow and Roman’s ideas are, well, their own. However it could start another repeat of the Brethren War as the Pure Tribes watch the Forsaken fight amongst themselves. There have already been several transactions between packs, such as the fierce rivalry between the Dream Eaters and Jagged Sky’s Pack. Some packs however have been working together and are at least on speaking terms so long as the Echoes of Thunder don’t make it worse by using their tactics of instigating conflicts.

Between both Roman and Snow is a third party rising up. While the two political powers clash over winning the favors of various packs, there are those packs who are torn between loyalties to the Storm Lord and the Iron Master, and then there are the packs who have loyalties to a third party who offers information, aide, help, and the occasional rite or two and asks for almost nothing in return (other than for cooperation between the Tribes and surrounding Packs, and perhaps some backing if it comes to that).

With the availability of space in Denver and the several main packs: Silver Syndicate, Echoes of Thunder, Scar Angels, New Hope Pack, Jagged Sky’s Pack, Black Moon Extreme, and the Three Sisters. These are the only packs that either survived the Denver War two years ago or have immigrated in. Other packs (from Rockies and Werewolf: The Forsaken) don’t call Denver home, but may come into contact with the recent packs. Other packs are free to move in, gain territory, and defend it from everyone else. Space isn’t limited and word is spreading like wildfire that Territory is up for grabs, if they can hold it.

This is a double edged sword however. New Uratha are welcome of course, and cleaning up Denver’s Spirit Wilds is going to be a task in and of itself. However with the current influx of Ghost Wolves back into Denver, territory is going to be drying up in short order. Conflicts between packs of Ghost Wolves and the more established packs could lead to trouble very quickly. Add to that the clash between the Iron Masters and the Storm Lord pack politics and a powderkeg is ready to go.

The Shadow’s in no good shape either. Thanks to the confusion of Gurdilag’s presence and the Denver War, there’s more Magath than spirits around the city center. Spirits are more violent towards the Uratha, and the Hosts run amok throughout the parts of the city where the Gauntlet is either thick, weak, or non-existent.

    NPCs:

Vincent Nelson “Truthstalker”: A Ghost Wolf Irraka who has his own detective agency nestled between the territories of three different feuding packs. Vincent keeps tabs on all supernatural activity in the city and is perhaps the first on-call werewolf detective in Denver. His ties to the Herd are useful and usually tip him off that something’s off in the Shadow. He has a round-about way of getting things accomplished, sometimes spurring packs into action by feeding them misinformation or planting evidence that shows them a bigger problem that has to be dealt with. Vincent also has the contact information of several packs that aren’t completely under Roman’s or Snow’s influence. He doesn’t like playing politics, but helping out the packs that come to Denver is one thing he’s good at. And if he can get those packs behind him, perhaps he can show the Iron Master and Storm Lord that there are bigger fish to fry other than each other.

Danielle Ferguson: A vampire of the Denver Ordo Dracul, very influential for any relations with the blood suckers. She studies much and has some abilities that may make werewolves think twice about the vampiric condition and their presumed “weaknesses.” Her aim is deadly and its not only her looks that can kill. She tries to distance herself from the Kindred, however her position within the Order requires her to make more social-lined activities and take the reigns of various functions. Her current whereabouts are unknown, but she might be found if those who want some vampire contacts start asking. She finds werewolves interesting as a Daeva, and is also curious about their obsession with Wym’s Nests. Granted they won’t spill everything, but she still finds the matter worth investigating.

The White Wolf: Rumors are being spread by the Gibbous and Crescent Moon Choirs that Urafarah is reborn. This “resurrection” (if it can be called that) is currently hunting the Spirit Wilds of Denver and glows with a bright silver light from Luna’s favor as well as having pure white hair. It’s larger than any Urshu form Uratha, and more primal in nature. It hunts spirits frequently to feed on their essence and then move on, performing ritual after ritual to continually regain essence. It also seems that this beast is hunting werewolves, Pure and Forsaken and these Uratha that die are shown to have some Bale Hound connections. The Pure want to catch this creature/spirit/whatever for their own reasons. And if Urafarah is reborn, then could the Forsaken be another step closer to redemption?

    Packs:

Dream Eaters: A pack composed mostly of Iron Masters, a large amount of Ghost Wolves, Blood Talons, Bone Shadows and varying Auspices. They have done the near-impossible. This pack has managed to destroy a Wound bordering on their southern territory boundary. The same boundary that they share with Jagged Sky’s pack. There was some conflict between the two packs a few weeks back, but children of the jumping trout have been eerily quiet lately. Rumors are spreading that one of the Maeljin was at the heart of that Wound as the Dream Eaters braved its evils. This pack also managed to decimate a pack of Pure on the night of a recent crescent moon. There are also rumors that the pack is giving sanctuary to various Magath and has no set Alpha.

Alley Shadows: A pack of Hunters in Darkness that call one of Denver’s parks their territory. Their relations with the Dream Eaters have been on good terms, so long as the Dream Eater’s continue to pay homage to the spirits of the park as they’ve done lately. The Shadows will have something bigger to contend with if the squirl-spirit “Chitters” grows too big for his own britches. Their leader is one Chriss “Shadow Theif,” an Edoloth.
