    Default Lugia Arc (Master Quest)

A few questions on the Lugia Arc.

    1. Why didn't Luka tell Officer Jenny about Professor Nanba (and what was he planning to do with the Lugias)? In short, why did Luka just stay put and wait? Maybe she was scared to tell Jenny in fear that Nanba would get wind of it and capture and torture and kill her.
    2. To Officer Jenny: WHERE THE HELL WERE YOU DURING THE LUGIA CRISIS NEAR OGI ISLE?!! No doubt you were sitting on your butt, making yourself beautiful for Brock, or doing some shopping for you and your Growlie. I hope YOU GET REPLACED BY A MORE COMPETENT OFFICER JENNY!!! (If they find out, that is.)
    3. BTW, during the scenes with Luka (even during the Mantine episode), the 4Kids writers could have missed a funny Suzanne Vega reference here. Remember that certain song about a girl with the same name as Luka's who lives on the 2nd floor?
    4. Do you think Proffesor Nanba is the evil Prof. Oak? While Oak believes that Pokemon and humans can live in harmony, Nanba's twisted and opposed belief is simple: Pokemon serve humans. Pokemon are for new energy sources, tools and in weapons of war. In short, even a Hyper Beam and Lugia's powers (i.e.), can be seen as WOMD (Weapons Of Mass Destruction).

1 - She probably didn't want to leave the scene, in case she was needed to do anything.

2 - You want Officer Jenny should be omniscient? She didn't know what was going on.

3 - I think it would have been lost on a lot of people.

    4 - OMG IT'S BUSH.

... But seriously, Nanba seems to hold a belief fairly consistent with the rest of Team Rocket.

    I'm wondering two things--

    1. Does Jirarudan know that there's more than one Lugia? If so, does he realize how much easier these two would be to capture? Y'know, given that it wouldn't involve putting the entire world in danger to do so...

    2. Why did they make Nanba look like the original Doc Wylie?

    1. Even if he did, I'm not sure that he'd go after them. After his colossal failure in Pokemon 2000, I kinda got the impression that Lawrence III (NOT Jirarudan!) lost his penchant for collecting.

    2. I always thought he looked and sounded a bit insane, myself. I don't know about the guy from the original Megaman series, though. Personally, I was more frustrated with how he was portrayed; he sounded like a little kid who drank too much soda. (Evil laughs are overdone with villains. Frankly, the Professor from the Lake of Rage saga seemed a lot more menacing.) Not to mention that half the time he didn't know what was going on around him. (You know, like when he asked Butch and Cassidy where his dinner was, or something similar. I forgot what it was exactly.)

No he didn't - observe the ending, he's going to go right back at it. Of course, with his airship(and its contents) destroyed, he's going to have to build back up again.

I got the impression, at the end of the film, that Lawrence III was planning to go after Mew since he looked so lovingly at that Ancient Mew card (which miraculously survived the destruction of his big airship thingy)
Or maybe he was just inspired to start taking up TCGaming, lol.

Even if he knew, he wouldn't go after it, just like he probably wouldn't go after other Moltres, Zapdos, Articuno. To him they would be second-rate compared to the Orange Island Titans/gods (which are larger and more powerful than others of their kind). Is a bit like a card collector wanting a first edition rather than a reprint.

He wanted "The Great Guardian" Lugia. Comparitively a "normal" wild Lugia would have no value to an obsessed collector like him. Heck, he didn't even think the three birds were the real prizes, only the guardian Lugia

Also, at least in the dub his words while looking at the Mew card were "How it all began... and how I'll begin again."

Most likely we should take those words to mean he was starting over, whether that means he will go after legendaries again is completely up in the air, as he could start over in many ways.

Actually, I believe he said "...how it will begin again." That's why I think it's unclear whether he means that he will begin collecting again, or if he is referring to someone else inevitably succumbing to greed.

He also seemed to think that no one had ever seen Lugia before (despite having a figurine that looked exactly like it...Well, never said he was bright)

I think he was after that one because it was a--probably the only one people knew about and b--the one he knew how to bring out of hiding. Even if the others were known about, it would be basically an issue of finding them randomly.

I get the feeling that even the people of Shamouti didn't know this Lugia was anything special compared to others of its species.
