So, I just got a free laptop. A G3 powerbook. So, I've got a plethora of questions. I don't have a power cord for it, so can anyone show me one, since I don't know what I'm looking for? Also, how do I tell what model it is? And can I get windows for it? Yeah, it's crappy, but it's a laptop.
I'll post some more questions after I get answers to these ones.

1. power adapters
2. model number should be.. somewhere on it. don't know where apple puts theres.
3. no, you can't use windows on it. only way to use windows on it would be to install virtual pc but i don't know if it could handle it. the g3 uses a different architecture than, say, an athlon xp/pentium 4, etc. risc is what the g3 uses. intel/amd use cisc.

In a local college which I'm hopefully going to when I leave school, if you do a full time IT course then you get a brand new laptop (wirless enabled and top of the range) to use. If you complete the course successfully then you get to keep it for free. And if you don't complete it then you can buy it for cheap. I can't wait.

hmm... check "about this mac" or whatever it's called. how many mhz? also, how big is the screen?

I still need to get a power adapter, so I can't do anything with it yet, and on the screen thing, it's approx 12x8 in

Dont generally use model numbers, we tend to go by the type of computer (powerbook) and the processor (g3).

Youve had most your questions answered, but Ill put my bit in.

Trust me it isnt that crappy, its slower than Id prefer but thats because its a slightly older machine.

Youd need a standard powerbook/ibook power cable. There all the same. I borrow my lecturers all the time and he has a g3 i book while i have a g4 powerbook. So will work on both.

Anymore questions and ill be happy to help, i know a bit about powerbooks
