    Default Unremovable spyware

Ok, I got a problem with some spyware and I can't remove it.

First of, I got an icon that keeps switching at my clock

And once in a while I get a pop-up message that is clearly not made by a corporation like Microsoft

Anyone came across this and found a solution?

Well, I'm not sure if this will work for you, Silencer (it worked for me), but have you tried Yahoo's new toolbar? It has an anti-spy feature on it, so you can use that to get rid of your adware, spyware, etc.

Also might be a good idea to note that I tried spybot: S&D but without success (did find 136 other threads though). I'll try that yahoo search bar but I'm very low on my download limit (around 97%) and I still have 4 days to go with it...

I've had a lot of problems with spyware, but I've been able to get help from other forums. There's always someone who's been in your shoes, so I look up the virus on Google. If there's a specific error message you get or some other symptom, search for it. That way, you can figure out what you've got, and find instructions to remove it. I've done that at least three times, and it's always worked (though you will have to download some things to get rid of the problem)

Open your Task Manager and look for any mysterious processes running. Google for it, and if it's a spyware, you can bet your ass there'll be forums with the methods of getting rid of it.

Works for me everytime with those stubborn stains and unreachable spaces

No problem anymore. Some program called ewido manages to block it (sadly not remove it but it's good either way)

I'd seriously recommend removal. You don't know what it could be doing in the background.

I'd ask you to post a HijackThis log, but I don't know how to read it that well. I could try, I suppose.

I know I'm gonna get flamed the usual flames for saying this but since I've switched from Internet Explorer and got soem real virus and spyware protection and have alot more commopn sense internet wise (common sense is your best protection) I've never had any spyware or virus problems what-so-ever. What methods have you tried so far in detecting the virus?
