    Default Otakon 2006

Just got back from Otakon 2006 last night. This year was my first year at Otakon and I must say that it blew my first convention out of the water (first one being Katuson 2004). I was just wondering if anyone else here at TPM had gone to Otakon this year. A bit later I'll be writing out a report of the con. In the meantime here's a few pictures I had taken ^_~

    Ok the full report:

Last Thursday I was just returning from Cincinnati. After a visit with my parents I had decided to join Brandy at the last minute for Otakon. Granted I didn't have a costume but I tried to half ass an Orange Star HS Gohan. After getting everything together we were picked up by Kuro Espeon and spent the night at her house. The next morning after making sure everything was loaded up we went to pick up another one of Brandy's friends. While not anime related this guy had an awesome Battle Royale related costume complete with the gear, a map, a list of fellow students and upgradable weapons. Other than listening to Mitch Hedburg on the way to Baltimore and getting caught in traffic it was a rather uneventful ride to the con. Once we got into the city at about 2 PM however we spent a good deal of time trying to find parking. It was so bad that Kuro actually had to park her car at our hotal and walk back 3 or 4 block to her own hotel.

    Day 1
Getting regestered wasn't as bad as Katsucon back in 2004. At that con I spent a good deal of time in a line. This time we were all signed up and ready to go within 15 minutes. After some running around and getting things dropped off at both hotels Brandy got her Pan costume ready and I got my shitty Gohan ready. It didn't take long for me to figure out that no one had the slightiest clue who I was suppose to be so after a bit I figured I'd be best with no costume this time around. After awhile in the dealer's room we ran into some of Brandy's other friends. They had shown up late due to traffic and were trying to get ready as soon as they could. Their costumes were from Suikoden 5 and I truely wish that I had batteries for my camera the first day as they were easily the best costumes IMO. Due to their late arrival and the fact that the brother of one of Brandy's friends hadn't told us where the hotal was we had to get their bags across town and I was to be the packhorse. Granted I didn't mind but I sure as hell wished it wasn't over 100 degrees in the city. We dropped the bags off at the brother's car before heading back the to con. After mor running and meeting with friends it was starting to get dark. We ran into the BR guy again and I was trying to act as Brandy's bodyguard because her name was on his list for target classmates. However I wasn't paying attention and she got "killed" by him. Afterwards I proceeded to let her die two more times because they both seemed to be laughing about it and she did provoke it. After splitting up a bit me and Brandy had hit the game room where we attempted to try a new Japanese DBZ game but both controlers were broken so it wasn't exactly much fun. Across the room was a new Gamecube game that played very much like SSB Melee only this game featured Shonen Jump characters such as Goku, Naruto and Luffy. Very cool game and a ton of fun. I just hope they bring it out in the US. After that we went upstairs after running into the Suikoden group again and for a little while me and Brandy went to the rave and hit the dance floor. However all four of us were rather beat. By the time midnight hit we had to part ways because we were tired and they were waiting on the brother again. Jerk stood them up and they still didn't know where his hotel was. However since we already had six people in our room we couldn't have them come over. By the time we got back and I hit the bed I was pretty much gone for the day.

While these aren't day 1 pics here's a few that I'm going to load up before I go on with day two. They are as follows:
    1-A Chrono Trigger group
    2-A Soul Caliber 3 group
    3-Chibi Link from OoT

More pics will be tossed with the day 2 post ^_~

    EDIT-Stupid me.....already posted the CT group! >_<
Replacing that pic with a very well done manga Seras from Hellsing

I'd like to go to one of these cons some day, but cosplay makes my heart weep.

    Maybe Otakon next year.

[b][size=3]Hah, the last picture seems awfully familiar. >.< but the person in that cosplay just doesn't look good in it. Speaking of which I would be heading down to a cosplay show this coming Saturday and of course I would be bringing my camera along too.

Looks awesome! Brandy said she didn't like her Pan costume... but I think it looks great! In any case, it is so much fun to see so many cosplay outfits. Makes me excited to go to my very first con next year! ^_^ Despite the heat and the packing and such... I hope you guys had a great time!

See if they did anything like that over here, we'd be branded as wierdo's lol.
Im sorely considering having a holiday sometime next year just to show up and have a look around. Dont think ill dress up though lol. Wouldnt know what to be for a Start.

Also like how people dont mind dressing as the char's that are obviously designed as fantasy pieces. (Mostly the DOA girls)

Well, that's great to hear Otakon turned out great for you Rudy and Brandy. :3 Of course, I couldn't make it due to finanical issues, but the friends I know from my college had a blast there for sure. Though, I'm curious if you happened to run into anyone from Queens College Sci-Fi Anime by chance over there.

And for some reason, I see your doggie girl image strangely erotic Brandy.
