After wandering through many dark halls, you will come to a room. It’s a fair size, a standard battle arena; plain dirt covers the entire area, and as both trainers take their respective sides, the doors slam shut. The lights dim until it is completely dark.
That’s when the arena glows. Bright aqua blue lines divide the arena evenly; the lines form perfect squares: 2 feet by 2 feet. The walls and ceiling do the same; only the left wall is divided by neon red, the ceiling by the regular bright yellow, and the finally the right wall by green.
But as an added show of difficulty, some of the panels flash an orange x atop them, before simply vanishing, while others marked with a purple x; become elevated, becoming synthetic terrain.
What the Colors Mean: Each color brings about different effects, as an example, orange usually represent a fault. Like how it deleted certain panels, while the purple elevated the terrain.
Red Arena: Status effects are in-effective. Though the attack will go as commanded, the system’s “auto protect” will activate to attacks that do direct effects; i.e. thunder wave, toxic…
Aqua Arena: Status Effects become more potent, while protect, and safeguard become useless as they prove ineffective. (If Safeguard is in effect then it keeps working)
Yellow Arena: All attacks take more energy to deal, but gain double the power.
Green Arena: An arena prone to orange ‘X’s, usually leaving narrow pathways to run across. On the bright side, it is also prone to white ‘X’s.
Orange X: Removes chosen panel.
Purple X: Elevates chosen Panel
White X: Healer Square can remove status effects or heal a small amount of HP. Battler’s choice.
Dark Dragonite vs. +Conspiracy+1 on 1Apathy to Vengeance?
Trapped in the room that’s entire frame begins to spin wildly, Dark Dragonite looks menacingly at his opponent, the relatively new, yet apparently used-to-battle Conspiracy. Both Trainers watch as the ‘Rubis Cube’ settles upon the Red Arena. Soon the arena is turned into a synthetic wonderland of oddly elevated 'hedges', and only a small amount of the panels disappear completely.
Conspiracy releases his Pokemon first, in a bright flash a large horned Pokemon emerges, wings buzzing just a bit before settling, the blue bug calls out its name with pride as it settles onto the odd field.
“Nitra. My Heracross.”
A small grunt from Dark signalled that he even acknowledged the presence of the bug. Tossing his own pokeball, a small one eyed ghost Pokemon with two eye sockets emerged.
“Requiem…” Dark hissed, lowering his head so he appears more menacing. “Your worst nightmare…”

Dark Dragonite VS. c0n5p1r4cy
Official ASB Battle
Referee: Blademaster
Arena: Rubik's Cube... Wait, what?
(screen turns snowy as Blademaster steps up)
A big Rubik's Cube... Are you kidding me? I can't remember all that stuff; I'm changing it!
(screen changes to reveal a huge '#')
OK, I've borrowed from Tsuki Megami's idea to create a simpler yet still creative arena: a huge Tic-Tac-Toe board.
Here's how my Tic-Tac-Attack Arena works: At the start of the battle, the Tic-Tac-Toe board will be blank, and totally safe to walk on. The board itself is completely safe, and the 9 spaces are solid.
At the end of each round, both Pokemon are moved to a safe spot, and one more space than last time is filled up. For example, at the end of the first round, 1 space will be filled with an 'X' or 'O.' At the end of the second round, that first X or O will vanish and then 2 spaces will be filled. At the end of the 3rd round, those 2 marks will vanish, and 3 will appear on the board, and so on, until all the end of round 9, when all nine spaces are filled and the board is reset.
As the spaces fill up, different things will happen:
An empty space is solid ground and is totally safe to stand on.
An 'X' marked space is a trap door (Envision it like when you fold up a cardboard box so that each tab is under another one.) that will fall out if it's stood on for more than a few seconds, so watch out.
An 'O' marked space, as you may have guessed, is a hole, and any Pokemon that steps onto it will fall.
If a Pokemon falls through a trap door or a hole, it'll take 5% damage and reappear on a random safe spot.
And don't think your Duskull is safe because it can float, DD - underneath this arena is a high-powered gravity pump, which will suck Requiem down into any hole and onto any trap door that he floats over.
One last thing - if you think you can avoid these perils by standing on/floating over the tic-tac-toe board itself (the '#,' if you will), think again - it's about as thick as a tightrope walker's rope, so depending on which side of the line has more mass over it, you'll still only technically be on a single space; hope you aren't stuck between 2 holes if/when that happens...
Easy enough, right? Just keep an eye out for holes and trap doors, and try to stay on the safe spots (or better yet, try knocking your opponent onto the dangerous ones), and you'll be fine.

Dark Dragonite and c0n5p1r4cy... two skillful battlers in need of a referee (and maybe an instruction manual). DD lounges on a stack of purple cubes, while c0n kicks absently at a few green blocks...
"It's been a month." c0n whines. "And I'm hungry. Can we leave yet?"
"Mmm... five more minutes, and we walk." DD replies.
"Deal."
Just then, the multicolored blocks around them begin to flicker and fade, eventually warping out of existence and dumping DD and c0n on the ground. They now seem to be standing in an all-white room...
"What was that?" c0n asks. "Is this The Matrix?"
DD looks around unimpressed at the white void around them.
"Maybe... looks like the Windows Matrix to me..." he scoffs.
Just then, a large tic-tac-toe board appears on the floor, as does the wily, wavy, and somewhat wacky Blademaster.
"Hey." he says in his typical David Spade-like voice. "Need a ref?"
DD and c0n nod.
"OK, here's my arena and my rules." Blade replies, handing both battlers a piece of paper. "Send out your Pokemon, and let's begin."
Dark Dragonite, a Trainer with skill and experience on his side, and c0n5p1r4cy, a Trainer with luck and cunning on his side, send out their Pokemon: a Duskull named Requiem and a Heracross named Nitra respectively. Both Pokemon take their places - Nitra on the middle-right space, and Requiem over the middle-left space, eager to (finally) battle.
DD and c0n shout their first sets of commands; Requiem and Nitra nod and face each other...
Requiem makes the first move, channeling the cold within his lefless-yet-living (Huh?) body into his skull-like head, before exhaling it with abrupt force, sending a biting cold wave at Nitra...
Nitra, meanwhile, is focusing her energy into her muscular arms and her thick horn, spinning in a swift circle as she begins glowing with a faint energy. Requiem's Icy Wind slams straight into the spinning Singlehorn Pokemon, but basic aerodynamics force the chilling cold around Nitra, shielding her from most of the damage an Icy Wind would normally do...
Requiem pauses for a moment before attempting another attack; channeling the ghostly shadows all around him and within him, he quickly amasses an orb of utter darkness, which he fires from his forehead, straight at Nitra.
Nitra shrieks in pain as the icy blast rips through her body, obliterating thousands of skin cells at once and weakening her armorlike exoskeleton.
But Nitra isn't deterred so easily; a faint orange glow surrounds her horn, and she charges Requiem, her horn glowing more and more as she gets closer, until...
WHAM!
Duskull screeches as the strongest Bug attack in the Pokemon world slams into his skull, knocking him back into the wall... Ouch.
Nitra smirks confidently, but she isn't done yet - she quickly begins charging energy through her horn again, until it's glowing with the same orange light as before. Satisfied with her weapon, she spreads her wings and zooms at Requiem.
Requiem, however, isn't looking forward to this; he quickly repeats his previous assault, conjuring an orb of shadow within his mind and then firing it at Nitra, who slams into it horn-first!
Nitra doesn't feel any pain this time - her horn is mostly chitin, which means about as much pain to her as a human filing his/her fingernails. But the attack does erode at her horn a little, and the force of its impact causes her to slow down. She slashes into Requiem with her horn, but at a slower speed and with less driving mass, the damage isn't as bad this time...
As the first round draws to a close, both Pokemon (who're on the middle-left square) and their Trainers take note of the large game board on which they are battling. The board glows red briefly, before fading back to normal; there is now a large green 'X' on the middle square of the board...

hi.. um thanks for reffing and all, and i love the arena, but I'm seriously concerned at how two Megahorns from a heracross can take up 24% energy, yet deal only 14% damage...

I think the damage is accurate enough, but the energy level is set too high. Blade, try lowering the energy per attack or we'll have a 3-round match on our hands.

I'm fine with it being lowered, but you do have to remember, it's not just 2 megahorns as you make it sound, it's a swords dance, and 2 megahorns, so I don't think it was off by too much, just my opinion.
EDIT: did the math, 3 moves, 24%...8% energy each, I've had refs do teleport as taking a huge amount of energy(April contest), and teleport is using ones mind to move from one spot to another, SD and MH are moves that use a lot of physical moving.MH is the strongest bug type attack...
Plus, Nitra used SD to block an attack, which should be more fatiguing than if to power up.

Its the refs call but personally I'd lower the energy used, just so the match doesn't end too quickly. Swords danced Megahorn counters the type it was used against (ghost) so the damage sort of levels out.

ROFL...well, in the game it is .5, as with Poison, only ghost and dark types are SE against ghost type, which is why I picked Requiem against a fighting/bug type, fighting in the game does nothing, along with normal, and ground, but in asb, unless the poke goes intangable(phase out), it can be hit by anything, although since they float, as a weezing, magneton, etc does, not sure if ground hits them, unless they are somehow on the ground...Originally Posted by Chris 2.0

o0o.. well, I would say even though SD was used to block an attack, it really didn't do a great job -_-'
anyways, sorry forgot to post attacks, I really didn't mean for a stall because I need MONEYS!!!! win or lose -_-'
umm, well Nitra, just make sure you avoid that middle square... and let's try conserving a little more energy in the coming rounds... let's start off with a Horn Attack, then Fury Attack, then Horn Attack again. If the ghostie uses Shadow Ball, then use Counter.
Conspiracy
I'll adjust the energy used; this is how I calculated it:
Megahorn = -9 Energy. This is actually a bit more generous than normal, since Megahorn, for all intents and purposes, is really just a super-strong Bug Tackle. A Special attack of the same strength, like Fire Blast or Thunder, I would've reffed taking up to 11 or 12 energy.
Swords Dance = -6 Energy. This may be where adjustment is needed: spinning at high speed may not take too much energy, but bracing against an Icy Wind definitely adds to the cost.
As for damage, Nitra took 6 points from each Shadow Ball, and 3 from Icy Wind (with Swords Dance, as opposed to 6 damage without Swords Dance...)
And as our friendly neighborhood Moderator Chris 2.0 pointed out, Bug attacks are indeed non-effective against Ghosts, so I chipped down the amount of damage by about a third, from 10 or 11 to 7; Swords Dance indeed bumps the attacks strength back up a bit, so I'll have to fix that. Sorry about that... :-P
ARRRRRRRRRRRR!!
Let's show Nitra what you can do Requiem!! Start by using Psychic to slam Nitra on the square with the "X", that should do nicely, then follow up with a Will-O-Wisp, and finish with a Future Sight!!

Confused by their former referee's arena, they turn to the resident Good Samaritan of TPM: Blademaster. Both Pokemon take their places on the middle-left square, eager to battle.
DD and c0n shout their next sets of commands; Requiem and Nitra nod and face each other...
Nitra starts the round off simply, by charging at Requiem and slamming her horn into his bony face, plowing him into the wall again. Poor Requiem...
But the Ghost-type isn't about to take that attack laying down - he quickly focuses on Nitra, his single eye changing from red to a glowing blue. Nitra gasps as an aura of the same color wraps around her body, lifting her up and hurling her 10 feet, sending her skidding onto the X-marked middle square, which begins to shudder...
But Nitra isn't about to stay put and fall - she quickly works herself into a frenzy and charges, slashing and parrying her horn at the Duskull, knocking him about like a poodle in a washing machine...
Requiem is mad now; he focuses that anger, trying to use it to his advantage. His gaseous body begins to shudder, until suddenly a bast of searing blue flame fires from his mouth, scalding Nitra. The great Bug winces as the stinging jab of a burn sets in...
Nitra, hurt and annoyed now, charges at Requiem again, slamming her horn into the small Ghost yet again. But as Requiem flies back from the impact, he taps into his psychic powers once again in hopes of seeing the future... A swooping Heracross... a large hole at 4 o'clock... Yes, that'll do nicely...
As the round draws to a close, both Pokemon remain on the middle-left square, not having much chance to move about following Nitra's fierce onslaught. As the 2 Pokemon glare at each other, their Trainers take note of their battlefield, which glows a bright red as the green X over marking the middle square vanishes. The glow fades, and a new green X appears on the lower-right square. Across the board, on the upper-left square, a mark as appeared as well, but instead of a green X, this time it's a red O...

Both Pokemon take their places on the middle-left square, eager to battle.
DD and c0n shout their next sets of commands; Requiem and Nitra nod and face each other again...
Requiem starts the round off by closing his single eye and concentrating, a white light appearing around him as a duplicate Duskull appears on either side of him. The three Ghosts stare challengingly at Nitra.
But Nitra isn't intimidated - in fact, she's thinking something totally different:
'Ghost... copy... This is like when I fough against Doopliss in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door! It took me so long to beat that stupid Duplighost... Grrr...'
Recalling a bad memory of sorts, Nitra works herself into a frenzy and charges at the 3 Ghosts, slamming her horn into the middle one, which vanishes into thin air. Nitra spins around and stabs at the one on her right; her horn strikes something solid.
Well, solid enough, anyway; Requiem groans as Nitra plows past him, knocking him into the lower-left square. Nitra lands on the middle square and turns around, smirking smugly at the downed Ghost.
Requiem slowly lifts back off the ground and looks at Nitra, a shadowy energy building inside of him. Nitra, however, isn't too keen on waiting to be attacked, and she swoops in at Requiem, her horn glowing a faint orange again...
WHAM!
Requiem screeches as he's knocked back into the wall again.
'Doesn't this giant cockroach know any other moves!?' he thinks irritably, shaking his head.
Nitra advances on Requiem, stepping onto the lower-left square in the hopes of getting a better vantage point, when suddenly a sucking sound fills the room, and a beam of blue light shoots in from Requiem's right, slamming Nitra across the left side of the board and right into the large 'O' in the upper corner! Nitra shrieks as she falls into the hole and drops like a rock.
A second later, she seemingly falls from the ceiling and slams into the center square. Little Pidgeys flit around her head as she sits up, clearly dazed.
Requiem chuckles at Nitra's misfortune and then he fires a shadowy orb of energy from his eyes, which slams into Nitra head-on, totally disorienting her. Dizzy from the fall and confused by Requiem's last attack, she is now in no shape to attack; she attempts to use Harden, but as the world spins around her, she simply slumps onto her back, swirly-eyed.
Requiem, seeing an advantage, concentrates all the cold in his ghostly body into a single mass, which he abruptly exhales at Nitra. The frigid blast of wind strikes Nitra, coating some of her shell with a thin layer of frost but leaving no otherwise-lasting damage - in fact, the intense cold of that last attack seems to have helped soothe Nitra's burn...
As the round draws to a close, the square underneath Nitra lifts and tilts itself, until Nitra slides off it and onto the left square. Realizing that square must be safe, Requiem floats up over it, just as the Tic-Tac-Toe grid glows red and the marks in the corners disappear. As the red glow fades, the board's new markings appear and are noted by Dark Dragonite and c0n5p1r4cy: a green 'X' is now in the lower-left corner as well as in the uper-right corner, and a red 'O' has apeared on the middle square...

ok Nitra, so far you're doing well, and i hope we can keep this up, lets Horn Attack then follow up with a Brick Break followed up by yet another Horn Attack.
If at anytime that ghostie uses Double Team, use Fury Attack to break up the clones.

Requiem, time to bash that bug...if it were possible, I'd say to bend, break that horn off Nitra with your psychic grip by using it to lift her up and bash her on the ground, preferably on a "O" square. Follow that up with a Faint Attack to avoid the attack and hit Nitra, if possible. Finish with a Toxic.

didn't want to edit or anything, I was just curious, did future sight actually hit Nitra? or did it just see an opening for an attack?

I don't usually go by the ASB Attack List when reffing, but I did for Future Sight, DD; Requiem knew that the best time to strike would be at a time when the attack would do damage and have a decent chance of knocking Nitra onto a trapdoor or a hole, so he had it hit at that time.
It seemed like a good idea, anyway...

Official ASB Battle
Referee: Blademaster
Arena: A huge Tic-Tac-Toe board.

Dark Dragonite, a Trainer with skill and experience on his side, and c0n5p1r4cy, a Trainer with luck and cunning on his side, have decided to test each other's battling prowess. Confused by their former referee's arena, they turn to the resident Good Samaritan of TPM: Blademaster. After Blade and Dark Dragonite strike a deal, Blademaster agrees to ref; c0n5p1r4cy and Dark Dragonite (finally) send out their Pokemon: a Duskull named Requiem and a Heracross named Nitra (respectively). Both Pokemon take their places on the middle-left square, eager to battle.
DD and c0n shout their next sets of commands; Requiem nods and Nitra groans softly...
Requiem starts the round off by focusing his ghostly energy on Nitra or, more specifically, her horn. Requiem's eye glows blue, as does Nitra, who lifts off the ground. But she's too dizzy to notice...
Requiem narrows his eye and concentrates, trying his best to break Nitra's horn off; sweat beads on the Ghost's forehead, but try as he might, he simply can't break Nitra's horn, which is as durable as steel and just as hard. Frustrated, Requiem snaps his head to the side and flings Nitra, sending her careening towards the middle square of the board... Nitra slams into the hole-marked square and falls once again, this time crashing down from the ceiling and slamming into the upper-right corner...
Requiem chuckles confidently, but what he doesn't realize is that that last impact seems to have jarred Nitra's mind a bit; she slowly crawls to her feet and then charges at Requiem, her claws outstretched... But as she comes into contact with Requiem, he seems to vanish into the shadows and, a moment later, slams into her back, knocking Nitra across the lower row of the grid.
Nitra glowers and spins around, charging furiously at Requiem, slamming her horn into his face yet again. Requiem, now furious at the constant assaults on his face, builds a swell of negative energy, dead cell mass, and pure pain and anger within his body, forcing a purplish-black globule through his skeletal mouth that splatters onto Nitra's chest. The Bug/Fighting hybrid howls in pain as the acidic poison burns into her, seeping into her vains... This is not good...
As the round draws to a close, the square underneath Nitra once again lifts and tilts itself, until Nitra gets the hint and steps off it and onto the lower-right square. The Tic-Tac-Toe grid glows red and the marks in the corners and the middle disappear. As the red glow fades, the board's new markings appear and are noted by Dark Dragonite and c0n5p1r4cy: a green 'X' is now in the upper-middle and lower-middle squares, and a red 'O' has apeared on the middle-left and middle-right squares...

Ok Requiem, it's time to kick things up a bit...Be careful for those holes, use Faint Attack to get to a safe spot when necessary, otherwise, since Nitra will be attacking physically, use psychic to smash her on the ground, as you see fit, if she tries something from afar, Night shade, then shadow ball the rest.

Nitra starts the round off by closing her eyes and clearing her head. She glows a soft white; as the glow fades, a holographic duplicate appears on either side of her. Requiem glances back and forth between the 3 Heracross, not knowing which is which... The Ghost's eyes turn jet-black, and then he fires two jagged beams of red-tinted darkness at the central Heracross, who fades into a blur and vanishes. That's one down...
The remaining 2 Heracross' horns glow a faint orange as Nitra prepares her ultimate attack, and with impressive speed, both clones shoot forward and slam into Requiem at the same time, knocking Requiem into the lower-right corner. Requiem flaots back into the air and narrows his eyes. A blue aura surrounds his body, and then it forces itself forward in a wave, knocking both Heracross to the ground. The left one vanishes, but the right one cries out as she hits the floor hard.
Nitra gets back to her feet just as a second psychic shock wave slams her back into the wall. Furious at this point, she charges forward, her horn glowing orange yet again as she assaults Requiem, smashing him into the lower-middle square and following him to it, just as the poison begins to grate on her again...
As the round draws to a close, the Tic-Tac-Toe grid glows red and the marks on the sides disappear. for some reason I haven't been feeling that spark of creativity and such...
but a Megahorn x 3 still sounds nice![]()

No creativity here either...
Requiem, let's finish this, use an orb form of Psychic, hopefully it will stop Heracross's momentum, then use another form of Psychic to throw Nitra on a far away square keeping a hole or X square in between you 2. If you feel real weak, just try to Endure the last attack, if you have enough strength, Psychic Beam at your foe, take her down Requiem!!

Actually, I don't think so...it took 16% energy to perform night shade and 2 Psychic attacks last round, so, as I said, if he gets too weak, just endure....although, 11% health on your bug(after 4% psn loss) plus even just 2 4X effective attacks, like I figured, should do more than 11-15% damage...

DD and c0n shout their next sets of commands; both Pokemon nod and face each other again...
Nitra closes her eyes and focuses, a faint orange glow surrounding her horn. She charges at Requiem...
But Requiem has been hit in the face with that horn one time too many; his eye glows blue as Requiem focuses, firing a ball of sky-blue light at Nitra, sending her slamming across the field. Nitra groans and stands up...
Requiem has had enough - his body glows with a blue aura, as does Nitra's. The Singlehorn Pokemon lifts off the ground and is hurled over the grid, smashing forcefully into the left-middle square.
Nitra pools the last of her strength and gets to her feet, her horn glowing orange once more as she ddashes over the lower-left X and slams her horn into Requiem. The Ghost floats back - his energy is nearly exhausted; he can only brace himself as Nitra repeats her last assault, jousting the Ghost with her horn once more. Requiem absorbs the brunt of the blow, but he still feels it, too tired to be angry anymore...
Nitra smirks smugly at Requiem...
And then, poison overtakes her, and she collapses to the ground, unconscious.
The Tic-Tac-Toe grid glows red and all the marks in the corners and center disappear, and then so does the '#' itself.
