Ok, I can be a bit of a vigilante at times...but to my knowledge, Pokemon, Nintendo, and Game Freak have not put out a Pokemon Diamond game to this date, and the real one comes out in September in Japan, for DS only...
But, I do remember the old Rom from the internet a few years back before G/S/C came out, and it had nothing to do with the Pokemon I know and love...
Yet, people are selling it on Ebay...ok, maybe I shouldn't let it bother me, but now I see one with a box and instruction book...wtf?

Well, see how the one even has a book and box...parents don't know game titles, they see "Pokemon" and go for it for their kids, they have no clue, kids aren't really on ebay much either

If they do buy it for their kids then most likely they did buy some games before and hopefully they wold realise that Gameboy color games are no longer being made (perhaps in japan, but I doubt it) and that the latest thing is either GBA or nintendo DS.

I always wanted to buy one of those ROM hacks, see if it was cool or not. Mmm.. curiosity.. And I've got money..

But anyway, Pokemon Diamond/Jade have been out for a VERY LONG TIME, before the DS was even released, actually. Dunno about that Pearl one, but I bet it's fairly newer than the others.

Note that I said Diamond/Jade, those were the supposed "newest" Pokemon games released, but they're just clever hacks by experienced persons.

Technically, Ebay said it's illegal to bid them off.

And the reason they're for GBC is so they could hack the ROMs and transfer them to a playable cartridge. Quite fascinating, really, if my sources for it were right.. and they're really easy to hack, I've made my own Pokemon game off of Blue version, called it Aqua. Just out of Kanto you could catch wild level 5 Mews. XD

I guess as long as you're not saying that it's an official game then it's not illegal, they should really be mentioning the fact that it is a shady rom, but it's Ebay, most things slip through the net.

Ebay is full of crap like this. The "seriously bizzare" section features stuff such as "snow balls", "pictures of my ex" and random food items with relgeous members on them.

Parents really do not know much about their kids games, I think we can aggree this is a fact...they see "pokemon" and jump...

These games are illegal, and an infringement, whether they say it's official or not...they are using a trademarked name, when they say it's Pokemon, that's the problem...

Yeah, I feel bad for anyone who buys the fake Diamond (or Jade, for that matter). It's confusing enough for parents as it is. Most of them don't know a thing about video games, and then you can't even try to buy Pokemon Diamond - an official title! - without ending up with some scam. Bleh.

Although that doesn't compare to an even worse ripoff I heard of awhile back, when the XBox 360 was just coming out. An auction was held on eBay (where else?), and the advertisement showed a picture of the XBox 360, etc., etc. So some guy bought it for $400 or so, and in the mail, he got... a picture of an XBox 360.

Moral of the story: Read the fine print! In the ad itself, it said that the auction was for a picture of an XBox 360! No crime, just a lot of idiocy.

But getting back to the main point, people need to be more careful with their money. This kind of junk happens all the time, and yet someone's always stupid enough to fall for it.

I heard something awhile back about this. Something about how, whenever you got into a battle, you had to call your Pokemon and wait for them to come to battle for you. Some nonsense like that.

Everybody knows that you can't count on a Pokemon until you stuff it into a ball that's the size of your fist. It's just common sense!

I like how they altered it to just say "game" instead of "gameboy". as if infringing nintendo is bad and infringing pokemon, owned by nintendo (?), is not.

I don't know about you, but back at the peak of pokemon's popularity my parents and other relatives bought me pokemon stuff for my birthday/christmas without having a clue about it. let's say they ran across this thing and bought it for me, did they deserve to be ripped off for being "stupid"? IMO if you're old enough to have any money you shouldn't be buying pokemon things... but that's just me.

Even some young kids would be smart enough to know a real product from a fake. Besides, anybody claiming they're selling Diamond right now on eBay is obviously selling a fake, because the Japanese version doesn't come out until September. And for people selling an "English" version so soon after, that's also fake because it takes the localization team months to get it ready for American gamers. English names for the attacks, Pokemon names, etc. Besides, only one person translates the text.

Ok, what people are trying to explain to you is...When you get a b-day gift or a Christmas gift for a child, you do not tell them what you are getting...parents do NOT know the difference, once you become a parent, and your kid says I want this about everything, or focuses on a certain show, or game...you see the one word, and buy it, how many parents know the difference between Pikachu and Mewtwo? THINK about it...
