Maybe it's the nostalgia factor, since FR/LG are remixed versions of Red/Blue.
Or at least that's my best theory on it.
This doesn't make sense. How can FR and LG be cheaper than R/S when they came out almost 2 years after? Here's what I mean. http://www.nintendojo.com/infocus/vi...php?1154401877
Nintendo Adds Five New Player's Choice GBA Titles
7/31/2006, 11:11pm Eastern Time
Nintendo has announced a second line of budget Player's Choice titles for Game Boy Advance.
The most recent line-up includes Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2, The Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past/Four Swords, Mario Kart Super Circuit and Pokemon LeafGreen and FireRed. These titles will feature the coverted "Player's Choice" logo and will be reduced to $19.99.
With a huge library of Game Boy Advance titles, Nintendo is expected to continue to expand its Player's Choice catalog in the near future.

Meh, I find that unusual in a couple of ways (number 2 is practically more unusual than number 1 in my opinion, but that's just me).
One, all of those GBA games that are becoming Player's Choice are ones I already own (I have all of them, and a few others), and two, maybe FR/LG is more popular than R/S/E because after all, like Pokemaster Ash said, they are remakes of Pokemon Red and Blue (while the other three may not be remakes, they're just as good with all the new Pokemon in them).
That's just my two cents, basically.

Yeah, but don't forget that many people consider them to be nothing more than remakes of RBY. Others think that they are just ways for Nintendo to force you to buy more games to "Catch 'em all." That may have contributed to a decline in sales, which may explain the price reduction.
On the other hand, I did notice that all those games are exceptionally popular titles. Mario Advance 2? Zelda: Link to the Past? Mario Super Circuit? Dang. That's some nice company to have.
One possibility why FR/LG are cheaper than R/S is the different game cartridge HW. R/S has a clock and a battery. FR/LG doesn't have a clock and hence, it doesn't need a battery. So, the HW of the R/S game cartridge is more complex.
