    Default Emerald glitch.

Have you guys heard about this glitch that allows you to clone pokemon on emerald?
    here's what you do.

    1. Deposit ANY (from 1-5, as always gotta hold one) pokemon into any PC BOX.
    2. Leave the PC and save again.
    3. Go to the PC one more time and withdraw ANY 1-5 pokemon you want to clone from ANY PC BOX.
    4. Talk to the lady on the far right, and she will ask you to join a Multi Battle.
    5. Select Yes and choose any two pokemon.
    6. When she asks "before entering a BATTLE ROOM, your progress must be saved. Is that okay?", select Yes.
    7. If done correctly, the game will wait about 1-2 seconds before doing anything else.
    8. Do not select yes when she asks "would you like to save the game? YES or NO (the One Second wait was the glitch taking place).
    9. When the game asks you if you want to overright the save data. (yes/no) turn the game off.
    9. Restart game and now the cloned pokemon (1-5 of them) are in the PC and in your party.

Hmm, that sounds a lot like the cloning trick you can do in Pokemon Gold, Silver and Crystal (it's harder to do it in Crystal than in Gold or Silver). Does your timing have to be done just right here?

    Sorry I got confused....

"8. Do not select yes when she asks "would you like to save the game? YES or NO (the One Second wait was the glitch taking place).
    9. When the game asks you if you want to overright the save data. (yes/no) turn the game off"

If you don't select yes, as it says in 8, you won't get to the overwriting question on 9, correct?

Looks like it since it has to be done in the Frontier.

If I knew about this sooner, I would've had 3 Tyrogue with HP Ghost that would be the three Hitmons now.

Yep emerald only cause it has to be done in the battle tower using the wireless linkup desk.

I tested the trick earlier, and it worked like a charm. Nice find, VenomX!

Does that also work with eggs or just Pokemon themselves?

Hey, way to go, VenomX! Way to get good evidence for it, too. And thanks for taking the initiative to test it, Kyle!

Nicely done. This could be fun for anyone who doesn't want to play in the big tournaments (and who isn't afraid of glitches).

You know, I'm not too sure that would work with eggs. I mean, if you were able to clone an egg, I'm guessing the Pokemon inside would be cloned no matter what, just like if it was cloned after actually hatching.

I need to test that with an egg one of these days, just to be sure (that is, unless anyone else wants to try; be my guest).

Ah, so if this works with eggs, would the Pokemon inside the eggs have the same stats, trait and nature, or what?

    I'm very curious.

Yeah they would, cause the stats are set when you get the egg, and all you're doing is cloning the egg, when i tried it i got 2 naieve charmanders with the exact same stats.

Does it also work with duplicating TMs? I'd like to get multiples of certain TMs.

The cloned pokémon will know all of the same moves, including TM moves, as the original. Also, if you make the pokémon hold a TM as an item, and then clone it, both copies will be holding the same TM.

Now I don't have to search the Safari Zone for another Oddish with HP Ice (I wanted Fire, but this is close enough). Not only that, I got another Exp. Share to boot. I'm filling up my Hoenn Dex, and I'm missing Vileplume and Bellossom among others. Although there is a problem. Both Oddish are males, and I wanted Bellossom as a female. I might as well go search later on, after I get Vileplume.

Has anyone considered doing this with the Master Ball? Just a suggestion

And if I'm not mistaken you don't have to turn off the game while it's saving, meaning that this is actually safer than the old cloning cheats, correct?

Yeah, and that tends to be the main problem with things like this. Since you're cutting the game off as it's saving, you're stopping it before it saves all of your data. So even if you don't lose anything that's apparently "vital," like your Pokemon, items, etc., you are going to lose some of those hidden lines of code. Over time, this can destabilize your game (even if you only use such a cheat once) and accelerate any problems with your cartridge, as we've discussed in the forums for the older games.

But if you don't mind such issues, and if you don't have any qualms with these methods of duplication, then this is an excellent technique. Besides, Diamond and Pearl will be released soon anyway. Unless you just exploit that Emerald game to death, it's not as if the cartridge will die before you can get DP (thereby always having the newest generation of games). So if you're okay with techniques like this, then go for it!
