TALESOFASELIC
TheDragonKingdomandDivinityCity
The sound of footsteps echoed in the hallway, fast pace, and never seemed to stop until the occasion leap of faith as the man clad in white armour skipped the steps. Explosions and horrible cries echoed outside, and some were drawing near… Closer to him, in his helpless state.
“We can’t loose it…” He gasped to himself, throwing himself through a door shoulder first, before tumbling onto the ground. With a groan he heaved himself onto his feet and continued to sprint, faster and faster down the hallway. “Not to them…”
He was close then; his eyes were fixed upon two humanoid Dragons: Dragoons; the guardians of this holy place. Their dragon bodies were made of the finest steel, and with their lances in hand, they were a force to be reckoned with.
Thank god they were on his side.
“Open the door!” He cried, to his surprise, they obeyed, opening the door to reveal a rather small room with a large blue crystal floating in the center.
It was then time seemed to slow. No, it was… Time was stopping all around him. The boy gulped, looking at the frozen Dragoons who he hadn’t noticed, but had began to sprint down the hall. Nervously he turned, pivoting on one foot to see only a dark, looming fog at the end of the hallway.
“Siqut...” He whispered; jumping as large, overgrown hands with massive black claws slammed onto the floor. Cracking the panels and sending shards flying everywhere.
When his shock was overpowered by fear, he turned again, his ears caught the sounds of gurgling and growling, with the occasional snap of a dragoon being broken in half, and then thrown down like a toy. Even so, he kept running, and though it seemed like an eternity, the soldier had made it.
With the slightest of touches, his fingertips made contact with the smooth crystal surface…
With that, the old man shut the book. The crowd that had gathered around him gasped, and then frowned. Only a chuckle escaped the man, as he stroked his long beard and watched the group dissipate, until only a few remained.
The man was confused by the odd set of children in front of him, all around eight years old, but all very different in appearance. Shrugging it off, the kind smile appeared on his face and he crossed his arms at the children.
“And what are you still doing here?”
“Oh please tell us the rest!” One child beamed, with a smile on his face.
“Yes! What happened to the knight?” Another chirped.
“What’s a Siqut?”
The man laughed. “Siqut is a creature called forth by the heart of a person, very powerful, and with a very short temper.”
“But you said all the magickal creatures are on the Dragoon’s side!” A boy huffed, crossing his arms and puffing his cheeks.
“Indeed I did, but even with creatures, if you experience war to often, you’ll turn angry, and cold. Siqut was angry, so it turned on its master, and then attacked anyone.”
One girl tilted her head. “Is the Dragon Kingdom real? It’s the Dragon Head Palace really there?”
The man stopped, his smiled faded and he looked at all the children, quietly, he issued them all closer. Carefully, and without any of the parents noticing, he gave them all crystals.
“These crystals, if put together, form a map. A map that will one day, if you all really believe it in, will lead you to the Dragon Kingdom Gates, and then onwards, to Divinity City.” He smiled as all the children looked at the crystals with wonder. “One day, maybe you will even call your own Spirit forth, and see first had the power and beauty that magick’s really hold.”
They all laughed and giggled; hiding their crystal’s from their parents as some looked over.
“How will we all know each other then?” One asked. “I’m not friends with everybody.”
“Ah.” The old man grinned. “If you truly, somewhere in your heart believe, you will all be lead back to this very spot. And then your crystals will handle it from there.”
Magicks
There are many sorts of magicks in the world of Aselic, and there comes a time that every child must learn of these tricky abilities. In this world, the magicks are used in the intent to do damage, healing spells and other such things are hard to master, and must be gained through gaining the respect of the Gods.
Types of Magick
Oblivion Magick- Dark, and twisted. Oblivion magick is the Arcana of Aselic; it is meant to do damage, and do a lot of it. It controls the Bend, break, gravity and death spells.
Excalibur Magick- Known as the holy magick, Excalibur magick is the direct opposite of Oblivion. It is hard to master, and though weaker then the awful Arcana magick, it can prove quite useful. It controls the Split, Heaven, and Resurrect spells.
Elemental Magick- the most renowned, and easiest to master is the Elemental spells. Though at first they seem weak and useless, later on they prove to be extremely handy. It controls the Stone, Wind, Storm, Flame, and Water spells.
Chaos Magick- A smaller, less potent version of Oblivion magick, it was only given its own category due to the high mages conquering its difficult twists. Chaos magick is extremely unstable and is known to backfire, but mastering it can get you out of trickery situations. Controls Time, Illusion, Mind and Disease spells.
Shield Magick- The rarest, and by far the most difficult to master, is the Shield category. Though close to Excalibur magick, scientists have proven that it was not derived from the holy spells. Shield can save one or many lives from even the most powerful spells. It controls Shield, and Immunity spells.
Spell Types
Bend: The ability to bend what the eyes perceive. Cannot be used on another living being, but can be used on the items around them.
Example: A boulder that used to be harmless sitting on the ground is not floating over the enemies head.
Break: The ability to manipulate the body of another living being. This Spell type has also been referred to as Bleed. As it sometimes takes away, and is usually used as the most horrific torture way.
Example: Willing the enemies body to melt. Maybe a couple minutes later, their skin is beginning to drip.
Gravity: The most potent of any spell, a strong Gravity spell can bypass shield techniques. It can destroy a person’s finger to an entire city.
Example: Enemy is extremely fast, wills the gravitational pull around the enemy to become heavy, even to the point where they are pulled onto the ground and then kept there, extremely strained.
Death: Extremely terrifying spell, to have the ability to rip the soul from the body, and then toss it away like nothing. Can also cause comatose, rotting flesh or mental disabilities.
Example: Focusing on any living thing, and willing them to die. Their body might explode, or shrivel up. It all depends on the cruelty of the will.
Split: The ability to take half of the wounds of an ally, and put them on the spellcasters own body. Extremely effective, though needs concentration.
Heaven: The offensive holy magic, usually coming from the sky. Very powerful, hard to aim.
Example: A white fireball coming from the heavens, to slam into multiple opponents.
Resurrect: To bring the newly dead to life, fully restoring their bodies. Extremely difficult to master.
Stone: Attacks dealt with earth.
Wind: Attacks dealt with wind.
Storm: Attacks dealt with lightning.
Flame: Attacks dealt with fire.
Water: Attacks dealt with water.
Time: the ability to slow, stop, rewind and control time. Extremely difficult, especially rewinding.
Illusion: Makes an ally or an enemy hallucinate, may cause insanity.
Mind: The power of the mind, the extreme mental focus of someone on something, causing things to happen. A very good torture spell. Can move large things, but is not as effective or as fast as bend.
Disease: To give the ally or enemy a harmful disease that works fast.
Shield: To create a shield that will block most or all attacks.
Immunity: to make someone immune to diseases and poisons.
You’ll notice how I did not post the spells (only their basic description and some examples), but that’s okay. You have to bold your better category. This will determine which spells you get. Note, once you receive them, you’ll notice some are struck out, meaning you either don’t have enough experience, or it’s not available at this time due to power.
Magick Sense is your experience, it determines your connection with the Spirits that grant you your spells. You rank yourself on a scale of 1 to 10, but I don’t want to see a bunch of tens, in fact, I limit it one (maybe two…) high level magick user (means that person can have 8, 9, 10).
Spirits
If you have ever played any game where you can summon a creature onto the field, then you’ll get the idea of Spirits. Rulers of magicks, and power, they use the human soul to became real in Aselic. Each Spirit differs, and some are quite nasty and mean, while others are gentle and prefer to try and heal. An example is Siqut, it was a nasty one, and eventually turned on its summoner.
You may NOT summon a Spirit at the beginning of the RPG, and once you get one, be responsible. You won’t summon a Spirit all the time, nor will they come all the time. In fact they’re quite random when they appear. Abusing your Spirit will cause it to turn on you, and then vanish.
Note: Spirits take the form of their Summoner’s soul, and ideal image of a monster. Someone who is kind and generous won’t have a demon, they’ll have an angel. You may create what your Spirit looks like, but don’t go overboard, and try not to directly copy off another.
