I just fast-fowarded to the end of this, and it's quite an interesting quest. I don't know how time is on the Pokemon Games, but it was 2:40. (So, maybe that was two hours and forty minutes? or 2 minutes and 40 seconds, but apparently, he's the fastests with only one Pokemon. I'm sure someone has done a Single fighter challenge with Blastoise. But you have to check out this video he OHKO's 5 Pokemon with Fissure. He also has some HM slaves and such, and a Lapras who uses Toxic, and such....but we all know Toxic was horrible in R/B/Y. Just check it out. I dunno, this guy is either really good, or Pokemon games are really easy
Her's a better link

I've seen it done really fast before, I think in like half an hour. It actually showed the whole thing from start to finish, the catch is that it was probably sharked since every move from the opposing trainers always missed.

If I remember correctly, the record for a legitimate RBY speedrun is 1:52. Which is totally insane when you think about it.

Incredible performance, though I don't see what's so fun about the speedruns (for the one playing them). You skip through the entire game just for five minutes of fame. That's not my thing. I think my fastest performance was 20 hours for R/B.

I'd imagine it's about proving that you have utterly mastered the game. Shigeru Miyamoto himself (according to an interview in 1991) approves of breathing new life into games by challenging yourself to beat them in special ways, like as fast as possible or without using a single power-up or whathaveyou.

As a man who has done amateur to intermediate speedruns in many games, I can attest to Pory's answer.

For a video game enthusiast like me, playing the game over and over is fun, but to be able to play a game at the absolute best of your abilities and see how you rank with the world champions... THAT is a truly rewarding experience.
