okay i don't know if this question is dumb lol but my friend is really sad because he levelled up his psyduck to 36 and he's wondering when it will evolve. the problem is all the websites i've checked say psyduck evolved on level 33. so we have a problem.

so basically me and my friend concluded that whenever psyduck wins battles and levels up, my friend would keep battling until psyduck would faint. so thats why he didnt evolve.

Yes, up until DP came out, a fainted Pokémon wouldn't evolve when it had reached the level it otherwise could evolve on, except by using a Rare Candy on it.
On one side, it's more logical this way, I guess: a fainted Pokémon might not possess the strength to evolve, or would be KOed.
On the other hand: it wouldn't have the strength to resist evolution, either. And it could seriously mess up your plans for timed evolutions, especially if you wanted it to learn a certain attack immediately after evolving and you don't have any Heart Scales or Mushrooms.

And if you ever feel the need to add something to your post when nothing (EDIT: I mean no-one, lol) has replied yet, you can edit it. If we're going to get into theoretical debates, maybe we should consider the nature of stopping evolution in the games. Remember that the Pokemon doesn't choose on its own to halt its evolution; you press a button (thus startling the Pokemon, I believe) and canceling the evolution. So personally, I view evolution as a moment where the Pokemon is energized and goes into a deep mental and spiritual trance until its physical form changes as well. (Pressing the button snaps them out of that trance, just as kicking a person may make it rather difficult to meditate.) But if it's unconscious, it cannot go into a trance and therefore cannot evolve.

Anyway, that's neither here nor there. Although I certainly wouldn't be averse to further discussion of evolution in the GD forum... hmm... now that's an interesting idea.

C-Master's right about the editing issue. There are times when double-posting is warranted - we encounter some of those quite frequently in Fanfic - but if it's just an addendum a few minutes later, you can just edit it, as Mike said. Just so you know for the next time.

And Mike, I think your original description was correct. There are a few TPMers who I would feel perfectly comfortable calling "something." ^_^
