Default Pokemon Mystery Dungeon contribution fic idea

Since Mr. Pikachu hasn't said anything after I answered his questions, I decided to put this thread here for anyone who was interested.

On another forum, someone did a narrative run-through of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team which starred a Meowth called Jake who just wanted to hug Pokemon instead of hurting them. His partner was a Squirtle called Sheldon.

I decided to do a similar narrative run-through of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness, but instead of being a pacifist who wants to hug every Pokemon, my main character is a female Pokemon who wants to tickle every Pokemon!

Now, if you are interested in seeing this story, you should start by telling me what Pokemon the main character should be, and what Pokemon the partner should be. I know it's hindisght because I'm purchasing the game tomorrow, but I'm going to speedrun my Time version which I bought two days ago and copy all the dialogue and events from the game so I know what to expect.

This is just your first contribution. I couldn't do a poll because ten options is the limit, and there are sixteen Pokemon.

EDIT: I guess I should have clarified what Pokemon you can choose from. The Mystery Dungeon games only allows your main character to be one of the twelve "starters"(Charmander, Piplup, etc.), Meowth, Skitty, Munchlax, or Pikachu; and the partner can't be any of the normal-type Pokemon or the same type as the main character's Pokemon.

EDIT 2: Also, if you want any Pokémon to be on my the rescue team when I reach that point in the game, please PM me and say so. However, some Pokémon may not be available, as Pokémon which can't be recruited except by evolution won't be accessible until after you beat the game and advance the post-game story to get access to a secret area. Go to http://www.serebii.net/dungeon2/dungeon/ and use the drop-down menu to check out which Pokémon can be found in which dungeon.

    Tallied votes:
    Main Character:
    Bulbasaur: 1
    Chikorita: 1
    Skitty: 1
    Chimchar: 1

    Partner:
    Torchic: 1
    Cyndaquil: 1
    Totodile: 2

Note: This thread will remain up until I have found a way to make decent screenshots of my Nintendo DS screen while playing the game. If anyone wants to help out in that department, that's fine. This means the thread will remain up for a while, but at the end, the majority of votes will decide which Pokemon gets selected as the main character and which is the partner.

Also, if you want to submit names for the characters(they must be 10 characters or less) and fan-art in the project, they are welcome to. When I start my story thread, I will put up links to uploaded pages and will not start the main story until I have gotten my first page up... but to do that, I need more people to come vote! So c'mon, people! Don't let this idea stagnate!

If you want to comment about anything, PM me.

Here is the page that will be sort of a "table of contents" when the project starts. It'll be updated regularly once I get the ball rolling - again, if anyone is reading this and can help find a way to get decent screenshots of the game from my DS, PM me!

EDIT: Finally, the partner standoff has been broken by another vote for Totodile! Too bad the main character standoff has grown. If anyone else on these forums wishes to vote, feel free.

Of course not. Because that'd suck really, really hard. Unfortunately, even though you didn't think about it, this guy did.

    Okay, this sounds like fun...

    Let's see...

    Main character: Kirlia

    Sidekick: Riolu

    How's that?

Look above, I edited the post to explain why I can't have those. However, if you want, I can recruit a Riolu or Kirlia into the rescue team at a later date.

I know I'm going in blind and asking for ideas right now, but I just wanted people here to contribute if they liked the idea.

    Ever played Animal Crossing?

'Cuz my vote for a sidekick goes to a Cyndaquil that talks like Mr. Resetti.

    That's much better, Dark Sage.

(Actually, I have a Chikorita sidekick in my Blue Rescue Team game which I called Miele Luna, which is Italian for "honey moon." The main character is a Cyndaquil I called C.J. Syrus. )

Blademaster, I haven't played Animal Crossing(because I shirk at the thought of the characters getting mad if you leave the game for a while), but I have heard of it and met Mr. Resetti in Super Smash Brothers Brawl. I don't know about a Cyndaquil - Mr. Resetti looks more like a Diglett.

EDIT: Got your main character vote, Blade. Bulbasaur does sound like the type who could tickle easily. (I still remember "The Totodile Duel" when Ash had Bulbasaur tickle Psyduck until he surrendered. )

My vote goes to Bulbasaur, since it's typically portrayed as a no-nonsense kind of Pokemon. Your idea is the exact opposite. Breaking out of stereotypes = good.

Skitty, perhaps? I'm betting it can learn Tickle naturally.

Ooh, and throw in a Machop! *favorite Pokémon plug* Make it love bodybuilding, and rock bands, and, and... *passes out, exasperated*

The Skitty was actually my first choice, but I wanted to see if anyone else wanted a different Pokemon. Also, waht sort of Pokemon should be the main character's partner CMM?

EDIT: Okay, understood about that. But you still need to give me a partner choice. If Totodile is your choice, I'll put it down.

Nah, I'm just plugging my own Adopted Pokémon story from the AP/DP Forum. Namely, I'm referring to my own Machop, Bruce, who's in this rock band with my Whismur and Larvitar.

Anyway, you should try to see what Pokémon (and personality) might fit the dialogues best. I mean, I really empathized with my Machop and its partner, Dylan the Totodile, when I played Mystery Dungeon 2. But maybe that was also because of the nice icons showing their facial expressions. Details, man, details... and you've got your audience hooked.

[EDIT:] Yeah, so, I guess Totodile is my choice for a partner.

I'm agreeing with Mike. It'd be interesting to see Totodile as the partner, especially if the personality was something along the lines of the one Ash had in Johto.

As for a main character, that's a tough one to call. I was thinking a Fire-type, maybe one with a fear of swimming, or water in general. With that, perhaps Chimchar would make a main character to concentrate on.

Good news! One of the things I need to make this project works has been created!

A Wonder Mail Generator for PMD2!

These people made the Wonder Mail Generator for the old PMD games which was linked to in the thread that inspired me, so I want to ask people to go there and check it out. This is just a beta, so the codes might not work(I will test them on my working Time version - which I might restart someday) and the variety of rewards and types of missions are limited, but this should be enough to get a good start to the story.

This is the interactive part of the project. Not only do you decide who me and my partner will be in the game, but you will also get to decide what missions we go on when we get free reign of the story(right after the third dungeon); however, there are some rules:

    1. The first round of Wonder Mails should all be in the same dungeon. Also, you cannot chose a dungeon that isn't accessible at the current time. No Wonder Mails for Crystal Cave or anything like that.
    2. You are free to decide how much you want to break the challenge of the game, or how much you want me to suffer. The reward is your decision.
    3. Choose a Pokemon(it can be any Pokemon) and give it your user name. This is sort of an homage to you. If you want to send later Wonder Mails, you will need to stick with the Pokemon you chose as your client.
    4. If you are going to have the client and the target(in a "rescue my friend!" mission), you'll need to name the second Pokemon after someone else from the forums.
    5. I get to decide if the Wonder Mail is possible and change it if fit. This rule usually won't come into play unless you ask me to deliver you something which I can't get at the moment. Luckily the "Find" missions have been changed so they are possible no matter what you ask me to find - the item will be on the floor.

That should be it. Any questions can be PM'd to me. Good luck!
